‘Buy American’ — White House Confirms Executive Order That Will End Medical Supply Chain Reliance On China

Article by Christian Datoc in "The Daily Caller":

White House Director of Trade and Manufacturing Policy Peter Navarro confirmed Wednesday the administration is working on an executive order to eliminate the government’s reliance on foreign-made medical supplies.

The “Buy American” order comes on the heels of concerns expressed by senators during their Tuesday meeting with President Donald Trump on Capitol Hill.

Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said that during the meeting on easing coronavirus-related financial pressures on Americans, he asked Trump to support the Senate’s “efforts to invest in diversifying our supply chain, especially in pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.”

At yesterday’s lunch I asked @POTUS to support our efforts to invest in diversifying our supply chain, especially in pharmaceuticals & medical equipment.
He agreed & his team led by by Peter Navarro are also working on an EO to help address this

The order would prevent federal agencies from purchasing medical supplies, including face masks, gloves and ventilators, from China.

As the United States has battled the domestic spread of coronavirus, consumers were alerted to the fact that China manufactures an overwhelming percentage of the federal government’s medical equipment. 90 percent of all U.S. antibiotics were manufactured in China.

China has prevented the export of surgical face masks, severely limiting supplies in the U.S. and countries around the world.

“China has managed to dominate all aspects of the supply chain using the same unfair trade practices that it has used to dominate other sectors — cheap sweatshop labor, lax environmental regulations and massive government subsidies,” Navarro told New York Times. “As President Trump has said, what we need to do is bring those jobs home so that we can protect the public health and the economic and national security of the country.”

He added that the EO would cover more than 400 “essential medicines” that “satisfy the priority health care needs of the population.” Additional products targeted in the order include “medical countermeasures” made to protect against chemical and biological threats, radiation, nuclear fallout and infectious diseases like coronavirus.

“Nothing we do now will impede in any way our ability to get what we need when we need it from foreign sources,” he told CBS.

Navarro estimated the administration will announce the order in the coming weeks, adding that this is not just a medical issue but also blosters “our very national defense.”

'Rocket attack' on US-UK base in Iraq

A base hosting US and UK troops in Iraq has been hit in a rocket attack, US officials have told US and other media.
The attack was on the Taji military camp north of Baghdad.
The US sources said an American soldier, an American contractor and a British soldier were killed but this has not been officially confirmed.
The UK Ministry of Defence said of the latest incident: "We can confirm we are aware of an incident involving UK service personnel at Camp Taji, Iraq. An investigation is underway, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."

The video to send to everyone citing the ‘97% scientist consensus’ on climate change

The climate change hoax is funny. It's also dangerous.

For decades, the climate change alarmism agenda has been raging around the globe. But only until recently has it really gained widespread interest in the United States thanks in large part to radical progressives like Al Gore and Barack Obama. They opened the door to the most modern versions of climate change leaders like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Greta Thunberg. It’s clearly becoming a movement led by young people, yet they’re still echoing the same old lies.
Arguably the biggest lie in both its scope and the fact that it has contributed so greatly to the indoctrination of the masses is the notion that 97% of scientists (sometimes specified as “climate scientists”) acknowledge that climate change is man-made, dangerous, and reversible if we act dramatically and immediately. But is this oft-quoted statistic true? Not remotely.
The good folks at the Climate Discussion Nexus did a fabulous job of fact checking the so-called “studies” that back the claim echoed by climate change alarmists on a daily basis. Do 97% of scientists agree on anything? Nope, not even climate change.
No matter how much one tries to hide the truth, it will, eventually be found out.

Italy has an old population. That's why so many are dying from coronavirus there

Article by Eddie Scarry in "The Washington Examiner":

Because no one can depend on the national media to contextualize the spread of the coronavirus properly, every new bit of data that comes out about new cases and deaths seems like a new reason to panic.

At the forefront is coverage of what's happening in Italy, the country hit hardest outside of China, where the virus originated.  The European country is on lockdown as the virus spreads, and there has been a higher rate of death there because of it than in any other place.

Every new case and death is ominously covered as though it should serve as a warning that things are about to get so much worse everywhere else.

That's most likely not the case. There's a lot we still don't know about the virus because government officials everywhere are scrambling to limit the spread of the virus, test potentially infected individuals, treat them, and gather data to explain what's happening, all at the same time.

One source of trepidation has been that the coronavirus death rate in Italy is so much higher than elsewhere — nearly twice that of China and the United States. This could be a sign that things can or will get worse. But there's an explanation: The population there is especially old.

The World Health Organization warns that individuals 65 and older are at higher risk of suffering acute symptoms of the virus and, in turn, dying from it.

In Italy, nearly a quarter of the population is more than 65 years old. In the U.S., only 16% is. In China, 11%.

The vast majority of people dying from the virus in the U.S. are in their 70s, 80s, and 90s. That has been the case in China. Italy's national health body says that the average age of individuals dying of the virus has been 81.

Not to devalue the lives lost, but this context about the age of coronavirus victims is needed to prevent a panic. The death rate among those younger is and will remain much lower.

That's the context people should be hearing when they learn of more deaths in Italy related to coronavirus. But the media will probably just keep scaring people instead

Dow drops deeper into bear market territory, now down 1,400 points in final hour of trading

 CH 20200311_avg_daily_moves.png
Article by Fred Imbert for CNBC Market News":

The coronavirus-induced sell-off reached a new low on Wednesday as Wall Street grappled with the rapid spread of the virus as well as uncertainty around a fiscal response to curb slower economic growth from the outbreak.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded 1,466 points lower, or 5.9%, and was more than 20% below its record high set earlier last month. A 20% decline is considered a bear market on Wall Street. However, most investors don’t recognize it officially until the index does it on a closing basis. The Dow was on pace to do that Wednesday, whereas the S&P 500 is just below that closing threshold.

The S&P 500 is more than 19% from its closing record and traded 5.1% lower on the day. The Nasdaq Composite fell 5% and was also 19% below its all-time high.

“We can see the panic in the equity market,” said Jerry Braakman, chief investment officer of First American Trust. “The big question for most people is, are we at the bottom yet? I think we’re only about halfway there.”

The World Health Organization declared Wednesday the outbreak a global pandemic. The number of coronavirus cases around the world totaled more than 100,000, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the U.S. alone, more than 1,000 cases have been confirmed. This increase in cases added to fears of a global economic slowdown and have increased calls for government intervention.

President Donald Trump suggested Tuesday a 0% payroll tax rate that could last until the end of the year. However, the timing of such policies being implemented remains uncertain. Sen. Chuck Grassley, who heads the Senate Finance Committee, said such a tax cut needed to be examined.

“Markets seem disappointed that the White House did not release details of its fiscal response to the coronavirus,” said Brian Gardner, a Washington policy analyst at KBW. “We are still in early days and policymakers are continuing to grapple with different options and negotiate between the two parties and between Congress and the administration.”

Central banks have also acted to curb slower economic growth. The Bank of England on Wednesday cut its benchmark rate by 50 basis points to 0.25%. The Federal Reserve also increased the amount of money it is providing to banks through overnight repo lending to $175 billion

The uncertainty around fiscal stimulus, coupled with a reduction in travel demand and rising coronavirus cases, pressured airline and cruise line stocks. American, Delta, United and JetBlue all fell at least 6.5%. Norwegian Cruise Line and Carnival fell 20.4% and 12.4%, respectively.

“We need to see meaningful support for economic activity and credit backstops especially for small businesses, not a targeted approach executed only by the executive branch,” Joe Kalish, chief global macro strategist at Ned Davis Research, said in a note. “We will likely need congressional involvement.  This is a potential solvency problem.”

Wednesday’s moves came after the major averages posted sharp gains in the previous session. The Dow rallied more than 1,100 points while the S&P 500 had its best one-day performance since Dec. 26, 2018.

“Stocks posted impressive headline gains, but more strength needs to be seen beneath the surface to have confidence that the downside momentum in stocks has been broken,” Willie Delwiche, investment strategist at Baird, said in a note. “The weight of the evidence continues to argue for caution in the near term and we recommend that investors remain patient in the face of ongoing market volatility.”

The recent stock market volatility is unlike anything investors experienced in 2019. In 2019, the major averages all averaged daily moves of less than 1%. Over the past 12 trading days, the average price change has been well above 3%.

An Ideal Deep State Figurehead

Far from being concerned about Joe Biden’s creeping senility, the deep state may be rallying for the former vice president precisely because he will be weak, easily manipulated, and no threat to their agenda and habitual overreach.

While Joe Biden recently has become the Democratic establishment’s answer to the Bernie Sanders insurgency, his declining cognitive ability is hard to ignore. Garbled speech, non sequiturs, confusion, and the appearance of an actor forgetting his lines characterize most of his unscripted remarks, whether in public venues or on the debate stage.

This evident cognitive decline is something that a great many Americans will recognize, due to their experience with aging relatives. While Biden was never terribly bright, even a few years ago he appeared significantly more energetic, lucid, and articulate.

At 77, he clearly is not as capable as he once was.

Artificial Momentum

Biden’s declining abilities had at least something to do with his poor showing in the early Democratic primaries. He lost the first few, coming in an embarrassing fourth place in Iowa. Until Super Tuesday, the non-Sanders candidates appeared to be replaying the scenario of the Republican primary of 2016. Several ideologically similar figures with varying degrees of political skill were dividing the vote among the party’s establishment and permitting an outsider to win through the old stratagem of “divide and conquer.”

Then, in an audacious display of Machiavellian discipline, two of the most popular remaining candidates—Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg—bowed out on the eve of Super Tuesday. How exactly this happened remains a mystery. But soon endorsements from key figures in the Obama Administration came rolling in.

After disappointing Super Tuesday results, Michael Bloomberg and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) have also dropped out, with the former endorsing Biden. While Representative Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) remains the race, she has been sidelined by the Democratic leadership, who have changed the debate rules to exclude this powerful and fresh voice from consideration.

Remaining are Biden and Sanders, representing ideologically opposite poles within the Democratic Party, with particularly strong differences on economics and foreign policy, as well as a palpable difference in tone.

Biden’s recent surge is curious. He has the same demerits that previously kept him in the rear of the pack. He won South Carolina, due primarily to its large percentage of black voters, but there is no realistic chance he or any Democrat would win there in November.

As the failed impeachment showed, Biden is knee-deep in corruption. And, as before, he lacks energy and strength as a campaigner, and is burdened by peculiar personal weaknesses, such as a penchant for invading the personal space of children and insulting voters. How did this strange guy become the consensus choice of the Democratic Party pooh-bahs?

The most obvious answer is that they think he can beat Trump. After all, he has had a lot of experience, once-upon-a-time was known for appealing to blue-collar voters, and, while not an excitement candidate or novelty, he is a known quantity.
But there is something more.

Biden Is a Friend to People in Power

Biden is a party man. When the party changed, he went with it, standing up for gay marriagetransgenderism, and other faddish items that excite the Democrat base. At the same time, he has fought for globalization, banking interests, and a neoliberal foreign policy, including his once-popular support for the Iraq War.

In other words, he has that peculiar mix of views that is culturally progressive while being at peace with finance capitalism and American liberal hegemony. It is the same basic worldview of Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton. This point of view finds eager assistance from the various organs of the deep state.

By contrast, Trumps’ unconventional views and expressed desire to “drain the swamp” have resulted in a constant battle with the permanent bureaucracy and its sycophantic allies in the press. This includes not only the usual institutional friction, but conspiracies against him by the most powerful instruments of national power: the FBI, the CIA, and the courts. From these came the insertion of spies and informants into his presidential campaign, an attempted impeachment, and resistance to the exercise of well-established presidential powers through nationwide injunctions.

It is fitting that America’s policy in Ukraine became the pretext with which his enemies tried to remove him from office. America’s policy there has been little explained and barely noticed by most Americans, but it has much to do with our ongoing friction with Russia, was the brainchild of the CIA’s John Brennan, was once the portfolio of Joe Biden, and it exemplifies all of the worst instincts of American foreign policy’s mandarin class.

How the Deep State Controls Elected Officials

Returning to Biden’s apparent mental decline, what if his lack of energy and apparent confusion are not faults, but virtues, at least for one cohort of supporters? After all, a dull and declining president is even more easily manipulated than the average president. By limiting information, boxing in decisions, or slow-walking items of disagreement, all presidents have had to deal with institutional resistance.

In Kosovo, Bill Clinton grumbled as the army dragged its feet on deploying its ground forces. In Iraq, George W. Bush was not persuaded by WMD intelligence, but he backed down when CIA Director George Tenet replied, “It’s a slam dunk.” And Ronald Reagan famously avoided the full weight of blame for the Iran-Contra affair, because it was widely understood that he was increasingly disengaged and reliant on advisors in his second term and likely unaware of what the CIA was doing behind his back.

But Obama also exemplifies the modern, compliant, and figure-head presidency, particularly with regard to the national security state. While Obama appeared in control and presented the image of a thoughtful and deliberate leader, this was only because he did very little to upset the status quo. While he was mocked for “leading from behind” on foreign policy, this also describes his approach to the presidency as a whole.

He outsourced key decisions, such as the details of Obamacare, or the conduct of the war in Afghanistan. And he spent his political capital either on programs that empowered government bureaucrats or did not threaten them, such as his use of the bully pulpit to express solidarity with his alienated black and minority supporters.

Consider the fawning profile of President Obama from the New Yorker in 2012:
Each night, an Obama aide hands the President a binder of documents to review. After his wife goes to bed, at around ten, Obama works in his study, the Treaty Room, on the second floor of the White House residence. President Bush preferred oral briefings; Obama likes his advice in writing. He marks up the decision memos and briefing materials with notes and questions in his neat cursive handwriting . . . If the document is a decision memo, its author usually includes options for Obama to check at the end.

It should be obvious how this method empowers the people drafting the memos along with their limited menu of options. There is a well-known cognitive bias of picking the middle choice when presented between two apparent extremes. This supposedly thoughtful approach actually ends up outsourcing the most important decisions to others.

Obama apparently is proud of his record as a compliant teacher’s pet, who did not burden his handlers with Trump’s insouciant skepticism and questioning. His suave, pseudointellectual style was the attractive public face for the faceless deep state and its functionaries.

In spite of campaigning on ending the Iraq War and “not doing stupid shit” on foreign policy, Obama ended up going along with his advisors’ recommendations for conflict with Libya, Syria, and Ukraine. These were all examples of the dubious but aggressive neoliberal foreign policy peddled by the deep state’s key figures and institutions.

If Biden were to become president, he would be even more pliable than Obama. In addition to generally endorsing the status quo and the rights of the government workers to influence policy, he is low energy, incoherent, and, one must imagine, subjectively aware of his increasing weaknesses. As such, he will find it easier to rubber stamp and endorse what is put before him in order to preserve appearances and avoid internal criticism.

The Power Behind the Throne

A President Biden would be like the child-kings of Europe, whose decisions were made by regents and other advisors—the “power behind the throne.”
While Biden’s declining mental acuity will hurt him during the campaign and likely cause him to look terrible in any debates, he has promised that things will “return to normal” if he is somehow elected.

In other words, he appeals to the establishment because he promises a restoration of the extensive powers and immunity from oversight that characterized the Obama-era FBI, CIA, and national security apparatus, along with the rest of the federal government’s overreaching bureaucracy. As with Obama, a figurehead President Biden’s chief function will be to ratify what the left-leaning government officials want to do without the distraction of executive oversight.

Far from being concerned about his creeping senility, the deep state may be rallying for Biden precisely because he will be weak, easily manipulated, and no threat to their agenda and habitual overreach.

No Thanks: Biden Promises ‘Return to Normal’

President Trump, for all his flaws, has exposed the arrogance, ignorance, and failures of Washington’s ruling class. That’s why they’re desperate to oust him, even if it means replacing Trump with a man way past his prime who’s exhibiting more alarming behavior each day. There’s nothing “normal” about it.

If he wins the White House in November, Joe Biden is pledging a “return to normal.” And apparently Team Biden thinks that catchy slogan sounds like a promise instead of a threat.

Since announcing his candidacy last spring, Biden and his boosters have touted the former vice president’s ability to roll back the clock to the period of political appeasement that was interrupted by the unwelcome rule of Donald Trump. Biden, who has roamed the halls of power in Washington, D.C. for nearly five decades, claims only he can restore the nation’s capital to the comfort zone it had formerly been for him and his cronies, a place where mean tweets and spontaneous firings and “irregular channels” don’t frustrate the Beltway’s business-as-usual brotherhood.

“Joe Biden wants to take America back to a time before Trump,” cooed a headline in a lengthy puff piece on Biden in the July 2019 issue of the New York Times magazine. “For voters unnerved by Trump’s conduct in office but not necessarily seeking radical change, he offers vast experience, conciliatory instincts and an empathy rooted in personal anguish.”

Now, Biden’s view of what constitutes “normal” might be a tad out of whack after 47 years in national politics. After all, the Democratic front runner remains gobsmacked as to why anyone would question the propriety of his son’s profitable international business dealings while Biden worked in the West Wing.

And Biden’s recent interactions with “normal” Americans have veered from creepy to dangerously aggressive. At a campaign appearance in Michigan on Tuesday, Biden berated an autoworker, pointed in his face, and said he wanted to “go outside” with the man.

A Third Obama Term

But Team Biden, cocksure about their candidate’s totally-organic-and-not-manufactured Super Tuesday romp, is leaking names of possible members of a Biden cabinet.
Axios reported that several Obama/Biden alumni are being considered for top posts. Biden’s former rival, Pete Buttigieg, is rumored as a potential U.N. ambassador or trade representative to boost his foreign affairs cred before his next run for office. This totally-not-a-quid-pro-quo is in exchange for Mayor Pete’s unexpected exit from the race just 36 hours before Super Tuesday and his quick endorsement of Biden right before polls opened that day. Biden also has made similar offers to failed foes Julian Castro and Beto O’Rourke, who recently backed Biden.

“Biden advisers describe a Return to Normal plan—a reversal of President Trump’s unorthodox, improvisational style. Biden wants known, trusted people around him—many from the Obama years,” wrote Jim VandenHei and Mike Allen on Monday. “Biden, a throw-back institutionalist, relishes an emphasis on governing, norms and restoring alliances. That includes respect for experts, and for the art and science of governing.”

The list, however, includes some of Obama’s most notorious henchmen, including National Security Advisor Susan Rice; Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates (the signer of the first FISA application on Carter Page); communications advisor Anita Dunn; and Secretary of State John Kerry. Mike Bloomberg and Jamie Dimon, the chairman of JP Morgan Chase, could be offered top financial appointments.

Biden also is considering his options for vice president, a critical decision given his age and legitimate doubts about his cognitive fitness. He’ll have to appease the left-wing base of the party, including Bernie Sanders backers such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). And he will almost certainly need to pick a female running mate. Possible candidates include Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) and Kamala Harris (D-Calif.). Stacey Abrams, who lost her run for governor of Georgia but claims she was robbed of the win, is also on Biden’s shortlist because she “electrifies crowds,” according to Axios.

Biden is earning the endorsement of some of Trump’s biggest enemies: James Comey, the disgraced former head of the FBI, and former CIA Director John Brennan have signaled their support for the former vice president. (Biden’s campaign, in the ultimate smackdown, rejected Comey’s support.)

A Return to the Status Quo Ante

So what, exactly, would a “return to normal” look like under President Biden? How would a mix of grudge-carrying Obama loyalists and untested socialist newcomers govern since it’s unlikely Biden actually will be in charge?

This is a shortlist of what Biden and company promise to revive:

A time when the news media fawned over a Democratic president, covered up his conspicuous corruption, and instead blamed any malfeasance on the underhanded machinations of his Republican foes.

A time when the permanent Beltway “expert” aristocracy, now exposed as hostile if not subversive to the broader interests of mainstream America, ran the show.

A time when it was not only acceptable but heroic for the president publicly to condemn the rulings of a federal court—including the highest court in the land—without demands for apologies.

A time when the plight of “kids in cages” was ignored.

A time when the political punditry class of the Left and Right wasn’t “exhausted” from doing their jobs, i.e., keeping close tabs on the White House, challenging the truthfulness of statements made by the occupant of the Oval Office, and questioning the travel expenses, furniture costs, condo rental agreements, Christian faith, or marital well-being of various presidential aides.

A time when phone calls between the president and world leaders remained classified information and, God forbid, were never exploited for political gain.

A time when daily press briefings were cordial affairs—devoid of sexist grandstanding and frequent outbursts by ostensibly objective journalists—with plenty of jocularity between the president’s spokesman and swooning members of the White House press corps.

A time when the Justice Department, State Department, Central Intelligence Agency, Director of National Intelligence, and a secret spy court operated clandestinely to execute a political hit job with nary a raised eyebrow from the media or a member of Congress.

A time when a British operative could act as both an FBI source and a lobbyist for a Russian oligarch while planting negative stories in the media weeks before a national election and no one considered it meddling or “interference.”

A time when a scandal-plagued president and his administration could claim they were “scandal-free” and the brainwashed news media regurgitated that provable falsehood as fact.

You get my drift.

When Biden-supporting Democrats and NeverTrumpers praise the idea that Uncle Joe will usher in an era of normalcy, they mean for them, not for you. After all, the Obama years weren’t exactly halcyon days for millions of working-class Americans or other Americans who actually believe in America’s founding principles.

Trump, for all his flaws, has exposed the arrogance, ignorance, and failures of Washington’s ruling class. That’s why they’re desperate to oust him, even if it means replacing Trump with a man way past his prime who’s exhibiting more alarming behavior each day. There’s nothing “normal” about it.

ICE Storms Brooklyn Restaurant to Bust Illegal Alien

The New York Daily News reports, ICE agents stormed a Brooklyn restaurant and used pepper spray to nab an undocumented illegal immigrant worker after she resisted arrest, according to ICE and officials.

Agents barged into La Cabaña restaurant on Flatbush Avenue in the Flatbush neighborhood on Sunday, March 1.

The agents barged into La Cabana, a Spanish eatery on Flatbush Ave. in the Flatbush neighborhood on Sunday, March 1 and nabbed Maria De Los Angel Sanz Pimentel, a Dominican illegal immigrant without a work visa and a recent arrest for a bar fight, ICE and officials report.

The arrest was caught on camera and posted on Twitter – Pimentel can be heard coughing and seen on the ground surrounded by ICE agents, who then eased the woman back to her feet. Customers at the restaurant shout at the agents and recorded the chaos on their phones.

“They entered where she was, they threw her to the floor and two men were on top of her and they sprayed her with pepper spray,” alleged Pimentel’s sister, Jenny Sanz, who traveled from Florida to New York after she heard her sister had been detained. “The violence isn’t necessary. I don’t why they were using so much force.”

The video was denounced by elected officials and advocacy groups.

“The fact that officers would barge in and pepper spray her is outrageous,” said Brooklyn Democratic state Sen. Zellnor Myrie, who posted the video on Saturday. “They came here to work and be a productive part of this community… It’s so incredibly painful this is where we are at… we have arrived at a point where if we as a society do not condemn these sorts of actions we will be in trouble.”

ICE said they captured Pimentel because she’d overstayed a visa that expired Sept. 22, 2019, and was flagged following her Feb. 25 arrest for a fight with a friend at a bar.  ICE spokesperson Rachael Yong Yow said in a statement that the woman “resisted arrest,” after not listening to officers’ instructions.

“A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Fugitive Operations Team discharged oleoresin capsicum, more commonly known as OC spray, while attempting to arrest Maria De Los Angel Sanz Pimentel, an illegally present Dominican national,” ICE officials stated. “This was after Sanz Pimentel resisted arrest…”

“During this enforcement action, ICE officers were within the scope of their law enforcement duties and acted with professionalism and respect to ensure the safety of all parties involved,” the statement added. “On scene, officers maintained effective communication with Sanz Pimentel and bystanders by ensuring them she would be afforded all courtesy to include a translator during processing. Although the scene became chaotic with bystanders, officers continued to conduct themselves with professionalism to ensure the scene remained safe.”

Biden Family Corruption: Lawsuit Against James Biden Implicates Big Brother Joe

Could the five decades of Biden family corruption and nepotism finally catch up to them? We know that Hunter is flailing in his paternity lawsuit in Arkansas and is about to get subpoenaed by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee to testify about this Burisma dealings.

Now we learn that Joe Biden’s younger brother James faces a brace of new lawsuits. Shannon Bream introduced a Fox News correspondent with details of the story on her program last night. Here is what was said:
Bream: There are new questions for Joe Biden involving a family member. A Politico report reveals allegations of possible fraud involving James Biden, the candidate’s younger brother. Politico reports that James Biden’s business with medical companies has led to allegations he potentially engaged in fraud and traded on his brother’s name. Biden and the other defendants deny any wrong-doing.
(From the graphic depicted: “James Biden’s health care ventures face a growing legal morass. A mysterious FBI raid. New allegation from former executives. Questions area swirling about the business dealings of Joe Biden’s brother.”)
Here is Garrett Tenney who is investigating this story and more.
Tenney: These new allegations claimed James Biden promised medical companies his last name in hopes that his political connections could open doors and help them land major deals and investments – investments that never came. In January the FBI raided a hospital in Western Pennsylvania linked to James Biden. The rural hospital is on of several run by the healthcare provider Americore Health. Former executives at the company say Biden first became involved in Americore in 2017, promising to help solve their financial woes by using his political connections to secure a major investment from the Middle East. One former executive, Tom Pritchard, told Politico, “He could get us in front of the unions. He could get us in front of certain people in government. He could get us in front of the right people.”
Biden did help the company secure a short-term loan, but Pritchard says in return that Biden got a $650,000 loan from the company, which was never repaid. [Biden reportedly worked with Americore CEO Grant White to secure a bridge loan, a short-term loan backed by the promise of longer-term financing. But the promised money from Middle Eastern financiers never arrived, and Biden has yet to repay the loan, Pritchard said.] And those major investments never came. Biden also allegedly promised medical service companies that his older brother, the former vice president, would promote their healthcare models as part of his 2020 campaign.
Two of those companies are now suing James Biden and Americore in federal court over an alleged scheme to drive the companies out of business and steal their business models. And Biden campaign officials say Joe never discussed Americore with his brother or expressed support for the business. But the elder Biden did meet Americore’s founder at a 2017 fundraiser for the Bo Biden foundation, though the Biden campaign official said, “If the two interacted in any way, it would have been a handshake and nothing more.” James Biden and Americore have denied the allegations against them, but in a recent court filing, the two companies suing them said they have received a massive amount of new evidence implicating Biden, and they claim to introduce it in the coming weeks.

End of Tenney’s report. Does anybody really believe that Joe Biden met Americore’s founder and didn’t have a conversation with him, or that his brother made no mention of his dealings with Americore and didn’t ask brother Joe for help? Please. This is standard operating procedure in the Biden family, and has been for decades. This Americore caper is not the first shady James Biden deal in which he attempted to trade on his brother Joe’s political connections. In fact, that is a family stock in trade, as detailed in Peter Schweizer’s book, Profiles in Corruption: Abuse of Power by America’s Progressive Elite. Schweizer was interviewed some weeks ago by Mark Levin and had this to say about James Biden:
Schweizer: … James Biden, for example, his brother. In November 2010, this old-time Biden family friend, Kevin Justice, who grew up in Delaware with Joe Biden’s kids, starts this construction company called Hillstone [Hillstone International LLC]. He goes to the White House in 2010, meets Joe Biden in Biden’s office, according to White House visitor logs. We don’t know what was discussed; it was the only time he ever visited the White House. But three weeks after that meeting, [Justice] appoints James Biden as the executive vice president of his construction company. He did not [have any construction experience]; in fact, on the company bio, which is no longer up [on the internet], they said that his skill was that he was comfortable in the corridors of political power. And of course, you’re very comfortable when your father is the second-most powerful man in the world.
But that’s just the beginning of the story. About six months after James Biden becomes the vice president, this company gets a contract from the federal government to build 100,000 homes in Iraq. It’s about a billion-and-a-half dollar contract. They get a $22M contract with the State Department; they get legions of other federal contracts. That’s the kind of thing you see repeated over and over with the Bidens, and it’s all about the timing. These things occur when Joe Biden is pulling the strings of governmental power at this time.

The dirty little secret is that all five members of the Biden family have been involved in this corruption/nepotism and have traded on family front man Joe’s political clout for decades. Schweizer went on:
[W]e found five Bidens involved in these sweetheart deals. That is all of the siblings and his living children … so it’s all five Biden family members – nobody has been left out. So Frank Biden starts doing deals in Costa Rica shortly after Joe Biden visits the country in spring 2009. Joe Biden comes down and talks with [Costa Rican] President Óscar Arias about providing aid and cooperation. Within months, Frank Biden has a deal with the Costa Rican power company; he has meetings with the president of Costa Rica, with government ministers. He’s setting up an energy company. … He has no background in energy whatsoever. He is also involved in an energy project in Jamaica. He actually gets the power purchasing agreements on a solar project in Jamaica that is financed with $47 million of US taxpayer money in the form of guaranteed loans. Again, no background in renewable energy. Multiple examples. This is all occurring simultaneously with Hunter Biden doing his deals in China and Ukraine, and other family members are engaging in this behavior as well.

There is a 44-page chapter in Schweizer’s book that details decades of Biden family corruption. The fact that so few Americans – and even fewer Democrat primary voters – know the score is a travesty and just another indication of how the legacy media protect Democrats. While they are busy minimize Joe’s gaffes, there are far more important issues that they are also covering up – like Biden family corruption and nepotism.

‘Trump’s Chernobyl’: Media Wuhan Virus Hysteria Stokes Public Panic

Article by Joy Pullmann in "The Federalist":

Since the coronavirus came on the horizon, media figures have been stoking panic, leading to mass shortages of basic health supplies, business travel cancellations, and market drops, all while the confirmed disease number hiked yesterday to around 0.000002 percent of the U.S. population.

So far, U.S. cases of the basic seasonal flu outnumber coronavirus cases by a factor of 45,000 (using federal stats for this year’s flu and real-time tracking of coronavirus confirmations). The flu season has even been especially bad this year, with between 20,000 and 52,000 deaths, compared to 29 so far from coronavirus.

According to infectious disease expert Dr. Paul Carson, who works for the North Dakota public health department, the flu appears to be about five times more contagious than coronavirus, which means containment is possible, although especially for the elderly coronavirus appears to have higher death rates. Especially for the young, however, the flu is still more dangerous than coronavirus in the United States, said the U.S. surgeon general Monday.

Yet did this year’s flu “pandemic” tank the stock market, get members of Congress on the House floor wearing gas masks, cause Americans suffering from the common cold and post-surgery pain to find no relief due to empty shelves at stores, and have the president stampeding to burn untold taxpayer dollars on “economic stimulus” amid decades of federal debt and deficits? No
.
As Wuhan virus trickled to U.S. shores, U.S. media have hyped Armageddon to, well, a fever pitch. But so far, the actual health effects have been minimal, while the social and economic effects have been serious. What accounts for the mismatch between hype and reality?

A major factor is open media cheerleading for stock market crashes and economic downturns. Not only is it clear that corporate media can’t be trusted to provide accurate information about an issue of public concern, it’s clear they don’t care about public health or the economy. They care about destroying Trump, and if they have to ruin the U.S. economy to do that, that’s what they’ll do.

On March 9, the “Politico Nightly Coronavirus Special Edition” email’s subject line was “America held hostage by coronavirus.” “The world is drowning itself in hand sanitizer and suffocating itself with fear,” hyperventilated reporters Renuka Rayasam and Sudeep Reddy. Now, why might that be, journos? Well, consider a few examples of what passes for news about a potential public health concern that only appears to matter this much because of the negative effects it could have on a president the media hate.

Washington Post columnist Brian Klaas claimed in a March 9 column, “The coronavirus is Trump’s Chernobyl.”

Chernobyl was the explosion of a nuclear reactor in the Soviet Union. Naturally, the communist government hushed it up and thus people went on with their lives instead of evacuating areas contaminated with radiation. This caused an estimated 9,000 to 16,000 deaths across Europe plus 3.5 million radiation-exposure-attributed cancers, birth defects, and other serious maladies just in nearby Ukraine.

It’s funny that the Washington Post seems to be publishing no articles calling the Wuhan province-originated disease China’s Chernobyl. The comparison is, indeed, a much better fit for China than for the United States. That communist government also kept the existence and spread of the Wuhan virus a secret, which led to tens of thousands more cases than if it had instead acted quickly to prevent the disease’s spread, like the Trump administration, Taiwan, and Hong Kong did. It is the epicenter of the coronavirus, with reportedly more than 80,000 sick and 3,000 dead so far (although China’s numbers are not reliable and likely understated).

It’s clear the Washington Post is more comfortable criticizing the president of their own nation even though his administration’s management of the threat has been far more transparent, immediate, and effective. Possibly there’s a connection between this editorial decision and the fact that the Post has been taking ad money since 2011 to publish literal Chinese communist propaganda disguised as a newsy, China-focused newspaper supplement.

Then, of course, were the multitude of media comparisons between coronavirus and Hurricane Katrina. New York Times columnist Paul Krugman appeared to not be able to make up his mind whether coronavirus should be messaged as “Trump’s Katrina” or “weapons of mass destruction,” both of which damaged the George W. Bush presidency.

A MSNBC panel last Friday also discussed with anticipation the possibility that coronavirus could be “Donald Trump’s Katrina.”

“I should mention this with a little trepidation, but this may be Donald Trump’s Katrina,” said panelist Eddie Glaude Jr.

“Let’s just lean into that for a minute,” responded MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace. “I mean, Katrina was the moment when all of the things that felt incredibly incompetent about the Bush presidency… were realized. We gave them a proof point that we were indeed incompetent. And also people died. I mean, this has the makings, structurally, for the same kind of moment for President Trump.”

“And if there’s any a moment that would shake that 40 percent — the folks who would allow him to shoot someone right down Fifth Avenue — if there’s any a moment it’s this one,” Glaude responded. “Because it’s babies, it’s friends, it’s loved ones, it’s grand parents, it’s your nana. So it seems to me this is an event that could take down a president.”

On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Monday, host Joe Scarborough commented to guest Richard Haas, an editor at the Financial Times, Trump “is unqualified and unfit to be president of the United States. And unfit at one of the most dangerous times this country has seen in, well, I’ll say it, since 9/11. We don’t know where this heads, but we know it gets much, much worse with this president.”

Haas responded, “You mentioned 9/11, Joe. Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives. We’re in the early stages of a crisis where, I believe, orders of more magnitude of Americans are in danger. Put that on the table. We’re at a point where the numbers are going to take over.”

As a reminder, 2,977 people were murdered by terrorists on 9/11, the deadliest terror attack in U.S. history. Due to their work digging people out of the rubble, approximately 10,000 first responders developed cancer, from which approximately 2,000 died. This comparison is utterly irresponsible at this point. All this conversation served was to scare the bejeebers out of people, to no good purpose, all for politics.

It is probably no accident that the media’s hysterical representation of what so far is a tiny health problem with the potential to grow — but we don’t know how much — mimics the accusations Democrat presidential candidates were making against Trump just two weeks ago. From Democrats’ lips to the media’s megaphone to a public frenzy in just two weeks.

Wash your hands, keep calm, and carry on, America. And hope the brokers managing your retirement and kids’ college funds are doing the same instead of listening to a bunch of know-nothings telling them to stampede.

Alarm Bells Ring at DNC HQ as New Gallup Poll Confirms Democratic Impeachment Push Backfired Bigly

Back in November and December when Democrats were conducting their public impeachment inquiry hearings against President Trump, a number of polls were released showing how their efforts were backfiring among independent voters and even some Democratic voters.

After Trump’s acquittal last month, polls indicated Trump was in even better shape politically than he was when the impeachment inquiry started, showing a remarkable resiliency that even some Democrats and NeverTrumpers reluctantly admitted to

Two weeks later, Gallup conducted two weeks of polling Republican, Democratic, and independent voters on where they stood on members of Congress and President Trump in the aftermath of his impeachment and acquittal. The results, released today, showed that contrary to how Gallup’s polls of the public’s feelings about Congress typically go, Republican approval ratings were now higher than Democratic approval ratings:
The Gallup poll found that since October, shortly after Democrats launched the impeachment inquiry, the approval rating for Republicans in the Gallup poll has gone up 6 points, from 34 percent to 40 percent. Democrats saw their approval rating fall over the same period from 38 percent to 35 percent.

The poll also found that the disapproval ratings for Democrats had gone up:
The disapproval rating in the Gallup poll for Democrats rose from 57 percent to 62 percent.

The findings are also significant — since Gallup began polling of lawmakers in 1999, Democrats have tended to have a higher approval rating than Republicans.

Gallup also noted that Trump’s favorability numbers have gone up as well:
Just as the public’s assessments of congressional Republicans appear to have benefited from Trump’s impeachment, so too has Trump. In Januaryand February, the president’s job approval rating rose to his personal best of 49%; it remains elevated from where it was before his impeachment. Likewise, Trump’s favorability rating, which was 41% in October, reached 48% in January and is currently 46%, including 89% favorable among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents.

Gallup attributed the rise in polling numbers for both Congressional Republicans and Trump to Republicans and “Republican leaners'” who were pleased with how they handled the impeachment inquiry and the Senate trial.

What this means is that rather than leading to Trump fatigue among his core voters, impeachment has galvanized the Republican base and the independent voters who lean Republican which is not good news for Democrats who have tried to chip away at his support since day one.

This poll is not an outlier, either, as it basically confirms those prior polls I mentioned earlier from other polling outfits as to where Republicans and other voters who lean Republican stood (and still stand) on Trump, Republicans in Congress, and Democratic impeachment efforts.

To be sure, there’s still a long time to go between now and November, but for a president and a party who have been under a constant barrage from Democrats, Never Trumpers, and their media allies with no end in sight, to be in such a good political shape in the aftermath is pretty impressive.
