Food Apartheid?

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley claims blacks are fat thanks to
America’s “Food Apartheid system.” Because of course she did.

Food Apartheid?

posted by Dianny at Patriot Retort

The other day, Squad member Ayanna Pressley (or Persis Khambatta as I call her) appeared on MSNBC to claim COVID-19 was racist.  And in so doing unleashed an absurd word salad about the “comorbidities of structural racism” including “transportation deserts” and “food apartheid.”

Food apartheid.

Yeah. She actually said that … on purpose.

Don’t get me wrong; transportation deserts is an equally idiotic term. But food apartheid?

Sweet merciful Zeus. What will they think of next?

Though, it is good to know that the scourge of food apartheid has not impeded the availability of word salads. Otherwise, Ayanna Pressley would be starved from lack of anything to say.

Let me see if I can parse what Congresswoman Persis Khambatta is saying here.

Black people are fat, therefore are more likely to die from COVID-19.

And the reason black people are fat is because of a lack of transportation and the aforementioned food apartheid system.

Does this dim bulb really believe this gobbledygook?

Does she actually believe that obesity among blacks is some kind of racist plot, and public transportation providers and grocery store chains are all in on it?

Or does she just assume that her target audience is so stupid, they’d believe anything so long as you string a bunch of smart-sounding terms together?

Food apartheid systems. As if governments are deliberately separating healthy food and bad-for-you food, and only sending the healthy food to white neighborhoods.

Does Persis Khambatta Pressley have a “Racist Terms Through the Ages” reference guide?

“Hmmm. I want to accuse the government of segregating groceries. Let me take a look and find the appropriate term to use.” (flips through pages) “Apartheid! That’s the ticket! I’ll refer to it as Food Apartheid!”

This woman serves in the House of Representatives. She is one of the people responsible for making the laws and determining federal spending.

And this is the kind of idiocy she burps out … on purpose.

While it is true that obesity is more prevalent among minorities, claiming that it is a deliberate outcome from the systemically racist Food Apartheid system is laughable.

Then again, everything is always the fault of “the system,” isn’t it? Personal responsibility went out the window among the Democrats decades ago.

What I find ironic about all this is over the last year there have been many “think pieces” arguing that expecting people to have healthy bodies is racist.

NPR did a story in July about the racial origins of fat phobia.

Also in July, the HuffPo had a story claiming the body mass index is racist.

In August, CBS did a story on the racial origins of fat shaming.

Remember back in 2017 when I did a post about a morbidly obese black woman who claimed “Fatphobia is violence” and “fat folks don’t die from being fat?” I wonder how she feels about Ayanna Pressley calling her obesity a comorbidity. I’m guessing she’d accuse Pressley of “Fatphobia.”

So which is it?

Is the obesity rate among blacks the work of systemic racism, transportation deserts and the dreaded food apartheid?

Or is it racist to “fat shame” blacks because obesity in blacks is part of their culture?

Because it can’t be both.

Then again, “Progressives” never let a pesky thing like consistency get in their way, do they?

If Persis Khambatta Pressley actually believed that blacks are fat because they only eat junk forced on them through a food apartheid system, why doesn’t she introduce a bill limiting food stamps to only healthy foods? Why doesn’t she introduce a bill requiring the teaching of home economics and healthy eating at public schools?

But she’ll never do that. Race hustlers don’t want solutions to problems. Because if the problems are solved, they can no longer use them as a cudgel to accuse Americans of “systemic racism.”

Or, in the case of a race-hustling Congresswoman, solving the problems means she can no longer use “system racism” as an excuse for implementing a socialist wealth redistribution scheme.
