Article by Derek Hunter in "Townhall":
Last week, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi called for the removal of 11 statues from Statuary Hall in the U.S. Capitol because the people they depict were racists. Not that it matters, but nine of the 11 were Democrats, as they are the party of slavery; creating and defending Jim Crow laws until they no longer could.
That’s neither here nor there, Democrats are the party of woke and will move quickly to address anything anyone finds objectionable.
Pelosi said, “The halls of Congress are the very heart of our democracy. The statues in the Capitol should embody our highest ideals as Americans, expressing who we are and who we aspire to be as a nation. The Confederate statues in the halls of Congress have always been reprehensible.”
“If Republicans are serious about rejecting white supremacy,” Pelosi continued, calling on Republicans “to join Democrats to remove the Confederate statues from the Capitol immediately.”
The only problem is that quote is from August of 2017. True, Pelosi wasn’t Speaker of the House then, Paul Ryan was. But she has been Speaker of the House since January of 2019. If she cared so deeply about the “reprehensible” statues near her office in 2017 after Charlottesville, why didn’t she do or say anything about it in the last year and a half?
Joe Biden has an “agenda for the black community” he’s now pushing regularly. The vague overview on his website includes all the standard boilerplate liberal talking points they’ve been pushing for decades – money for this, protections for that – but it’s short on details. You don’t have to provide details, however, when you have no real intention of doing anything.
Biden’s campaign website promises he “will make sure that people historically left out of the middle class—whether due to race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or religion—have the chance to succeed. He will be unflinching in confronting the systemic racism in our country that is built into our laws, our policies, and our institutions and will take aggressive action to correct them—ripping out the inequities in housing, health care, education, the economy, our criminal justice system, and so many other areas. Rooting out systemic racism and ensuring that everyone is treated with dignity and has equal opportunity is built into all of Joe’s domestic policies.”
Biden is singing with the left-wing chorus about “systemic racism,” but he’s been in the system, in very high positions, his whole life and he’s done nothing. Was he unaware of these systemic problems he’s now promising to “unflinchingly” confront?
The answer to those questions and to why Pelosi hasn’t done anything are the same: they don’t care. Democrats have no intention of “solving” anything, because when you solve something you can’t run on it. Democrats promised immigration reform and amnesty in 2008, then did absolutely nothing about it when they had complete control of government, including a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate for a good period. They could have passed anything they wanted and they didn’t even try.
