Short-Sighted Liz

Because of Short-Sighted Liz’s ham-handed stunt, Lisa Murkowski votes against new witnesses. So thanks Liz! Thanks for giving Republicans the win!

Yesterday the Senate voted down calling new “witnesses” in the shampeachment trial of President Trump.  And as much as the Resistance may rage against Republicans, they have nobody to blame but their short-sighted Presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren.

Thanks, Short-Sighted Liz!

You see, there was a strong possibility that, along with Mitt Romney (D-UT) and Susan Collins (?-ME), Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski would vote YES on witnesses – forcing a 50/50 tie and creating a miasma over whether or not Chief Justice Roberts would be allowed to cast a deciding vote.

And, boy, did the Democrats want that to happen.

But thanks to Short-Sighted Liz, it didn’t happen.  Lisa Murkowski voted NO.

You see, Liz Warren hoped to use the Senate trial as an opportunity to advance her presidential aspirations.  So she decided to submit a “question” to the attorneys that wasn’t a question at all.  Instead, it was a set-up designed to force Chief Justice Roberts to read aloud her snotty attack on the “legitimacy” of the Supreme Court.

Here was Short-Sighted Liz’s version of a “question:”

At a time when large majorities of Americans have lost faith in government, does the fact that the Chief Justice is presiding over an impeachment trial in which Republican senators have thus far refused to allow witnesses or evidence contribute to the loss of legitimacy of the Chief Justice, the Supreme Court, and the Constitution?

Wow.  That’s not a question.  It’s an insult wrapped in flagrant lies.

The Senate had over 28K pages of evidence and heard video clips of testimony from thirteen of the eighteen House “witnesses” (who witnessed nothing).  To claim that Republicans “refused to allow witnesses and evidence” is a flat-out lie.

But, this is Liz Warren we’re talking about.  Lying is what she does.

The substance and dishonesty of her “question” weren’t her point anyway.  Her point was attacking the Chief Justice and the Supreme Court.  You know, because Trump is destroying our institutions and norms .

It was also Warren’s ham-handed attempt to intimidate Chief Justice Roberts into siding with the Democrats on witnesses — in case there was a tie and he was put in the position of casting the deciding vote.

And while I’m sure Liz got a sweet dopamine rush from watching the Chief Justice read a question that attacks the Chief Justice’s “legitimacy,” her question was so poisonous, even the poisonous Adam Schiff wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole.

Had she taken a moment to think it through, she would’ve seen that coming. But Liz is far too short-sighted and self-centered to do anything as sensible as thinking something through.

Which is why she comes up with idiotic ideas like having a trans kid choose her Secretary of Education.

In fact, her ridiculous question was so poisonous, Lisa Murkowski specifically cited it as one of the reasons she would not prolong this sham of a trial by voting for new witnesses.

And if Short-Sighted Liz didn’t have her head stuck so far up her own ass that she craps dandruff, maybe she could’ve taken a beat to realize that she was screwing over her own side all for a cheap dopamine hit and slobbering praise from the Twitter Resistance.

But Elizabeth Warren isn’t a team player.  And she isn’t a big-picture gal.

Short-Sighted Liz wants what she wants when she wants it.

Warren will say anything, do anything — even burn every bridge and piss on the ashes — to get what she wants.

And what she wants more than anything in the world is the White House. I’m sure Liz thinks she’d have a much easier time getting there if President Trump is not on the ballot.
But her short-sighted “strategy” backfired. All she succeeded in accomplishing was a 51 to 49 vote against calling new witnesses.

So on behalf of all of us who want this shampeachment to die a quiet death, thanks Liz.

Thanks for screwing your own caucus in the Senate and helping Lisa Murkowski make up her mind.

Good luck in Iowa on Monday.  You’ll need it.
