“We may not have a 2020 election”

Renowned author and journalist Jim Kunstler:

“We may not have a 2020 election” because of ongoing coup attempt against duly elected President

Ordinarily, when we hear someone seriously suggest that one of our most fundamental exercises of democracy and small “r” republicanism — voting — is not going to take place for any reason, we tend to discount it as the rantings of a loon.

After all, even when our country was wracked by civil war, we had a presidential election (1864), though granted, only about half the country was involved since the South had seceded.

Still, we’ve also had elections during world wars, most notably in 1944 when America and her allies were literally fighting for our survival.

So what makes the 2020 election cycle any different? What’s a bigger threat to a fundamental democratic institution — voting — than civil war or world war?

Author and journalist James Howard Kunstler believes the widening political discourse between Left and Right in America that we saw developing during the Obama years and really take off after Donald Trump became president may just do the trick.

There are a couple of events on the horizon that could trigger some of the worst political violence since the days when North and South were exchanging fire, Kunstler says.

“What I am waiting for is if and when indictments come down from Mr. Barr and Mr. Durham,” he told Greg Hunter via USA Watchdog, a reference to the ongoing criminal investigation into the origins of the Spygate coup attempt against Trump by Attorney General William Barr and U.S. Attorney John Durham.

“I am wondering whether the editors and publishers of the Washington Post and New York Times and the producers at CNN and MSNBC are going to be named as unindicted co-conspirators in this effort to gaslight the country and really stage a coup to remove the president and to nullify the 2016 election,” Kunstler told Hunter.

“I say this as someone who is not necessarily a Trump supporter. I didn’t vote for the guy. I am not a cheerleader for the guy, but basically I think the behavior of his antagonists has been much worse and much more dangerous for the nation and the American people as a long term matter. I really need to see some action to hold people responsible for the acts they have committed,” he added.

Is a suspension of the 2020 election coming?

Indeed, he has a point. What we’ve seen unfold daily since the night of Trump’s election victory is an orchestrated effort to overturn the election results through a series of fake news stories, fabricated narratives, and hoaxes — beginning with the “Russian collusion” lie and graduating most recently into the fiction that Trump sought an illegal “quid pro quo” from the Ukrainian president during a phone call in July.

Now, Democrats are faking an ‘impeachment’ inquiry and using it as a 2020 campaign issue to energize their increasingly restive, insane base, the worst of which extends to the Antifa anarchists who love to show up to events were Trump supporters are gathered and pound on them.

“I am not an attorney, and I have never worked for the Department of Justice, but it seems to me that by naming the publishers and editors of these companies as unindicted co-conspirators that allows you to avoid the appearance of trying to shut down the press because you are not going to put them in jail, but you are going  to put them in disrupt,” Kunstler added.

“That may prompt their boards of directors to fire a few people and maybe change the way they do business at these places,” he said.

“At the same time, there is probably going to be a lot of legal actions brought against the people who started this coup against him, and that’s going to be extremely disturbing to the Left,” he continued. “I think one of the possibilities is we may not have a 2020 election. In some way or another, the country may be so disorderly that we can’t hold an election. There may be so much strife that we cannot handle the legal questions around holding the election, and it may be suspended.”

Powerful stuff.
