The “Bernie Revolution” is of the Robespierre variety

Sounds like the Bernie Revolution is taking a page out of Robespierre’s playbook. Yeah. That’ll end well.

Patriot Retort

Last night in a gymnasium in Iowa, Bernie Sanders’ acolyte Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shrieked “Who here is ready for a Revolution?!”

Well, you know. We all want to change the world.

It’s like history is repeating itself.

From the way these Bernie Revolutionaries talk, it sounds like the kind of Revolution they’re clamoring for bears a striking resemblance to the one in late eighteenth century France.

It’s all about vengeance and retribution.

Only instead of hunting down and destroying the aristocracy, the Bernie Revolution is turning their Reign of Terror on “the Billionaire Class.”

And the “Billionaire Class” should be afraid.

Hell, even Bernie Robespierre isn’t shy about saying so:

I’ve said before that Democrats seem to relish the idea of their fellow Americans living in fear of them.  They want to be hated and feared.  Which, you have to admit, is an odd thing from people who want to serve in public office in a Constitutional Republic.

Broke: Public Service

Woke: Reign of Terror

Sounds lovely.

Who can forget this crazy crank’s tweet from the night of the 2019 State of the Union Address?

Because these revolutionaries want you to be afraid.  They actually revel in striking fear in the hearts of their fellow citizens.

So it doesn’t surprise me in the least that the Bernie Revolution is founded on the notion that some Americans should live in fear of a Bernie Sanders Reign of Terror.

And the Bernie Fans are all-in on this kind of Revolution.

When someone pointed out the obvious in response to Bernie’s “fear us!” tweet:

One of the Bernie Revolutionaries replied:

Now, I read that tweet and howled like I was at a Night at the Improv.

Is she serious?

Let’s follow through on the logistics of her argument:

1. Bernie Robespierre gets elected in November 2020
2. He isn’t sworn in until January 20, 2021
3. Congress (if still a Democrat majority) will take up his insane “punish the evil billionaires” bill
4. They debate it for months and finally vote on it
5. It goes to the Senate
6. If the Senate remains in Republican control, Bernie Robespierre’s dream of punishing the billionaires dies
7. If, however, the Senate is in Democrat control, it gets debated, changed, and voted on
8. If it passes the Senate, it now has to go back to the House for reconciliation.
9. The House then has to reconcile the bill and vote on it again
10. If the House passes the reconciled bill, it goes back to the Senate
11. Finally, the reconciled bill gets passed and sent to President Robespierre for his signature
12. Then, at last, President Robespierre signs it into law

By this time, it’s probably the fall of 2021 at the earliest.

But if we go by how long it took to get Obamacare passed, for example, it’s more likely his Punish the Billionaires Law doesn’t get signed until the spring of 2022.

Of course this is all assuming Congress is even willing to consider such an insane tax law to begin with.

But no matter.  We’re playing along with the Bernie Revolutionary.

Does this Bernie Revolutionary really think those Billionaires will wait around until the spring of 2022 to see if the law passes before packing up their belongings, sending their money off-shore and getting the hell out of Dodge?

Is she high?

Those Billionaires would start the process of leaving the morning after Bernie gets elected – long before any of his insane tax plans that would punish their leaving even go into effect.

But nobody said the shock troops of the Bernie Revolution were the brightest stars in the heavens.

Their grasp on human nature and the survival instinct is about as firm as their grasp on economics.

But the Bernie Revolution is out for payback.  You know, just like the Frenchies who screamed “Vive la République!” as they dragged people to the guillotine.

As I said yesterday, this is the Politics of Envy.  The Bernie Revolutionaries are fueled by resentment and anger.  And they want someone to be punished.

But just as it was in 1789 France, the kind of revolution that’s fueled by vengeance doesn’t end in rainbows, puppies and kisses.

It ends in chaos, turmoil and blood.

These Bernie Revolutionaries should save themselves the time and trouble and just skip to the end by moving to Venezuela tomorrow.
