Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Florida, slammed House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler’s passage of the “Resolution for Investigative Proceedings.” The resolution, which changes the rules of the Judiciary Committee, is the first step in the Democrats push for impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump.
The resolution covers “an investigation to determine whether to recommend articles of impeachment with respect to President Donald J. Trump.”
Gaetz’s fought back Thursday. He compared the Democrats’ efforts to “impeachment in drag,” and “low-T impeachment.” “House Democrats are perverting the Founding Fathers’ legitimate safeguards against the Executive Branch for political gain,” he said. “They have abandoned their responsibilities conferred upon them as Judiciary members and have subjected the American people to a protracted political battle, instead of focusing on issues that matter to the nation. Today’s vote means nothing — it is a farce meant to distract the country from the fact that the Democrats are starving the American people of leadership. House Democrats have failed for two years to convince the American people their efforts are legitimate, and they have failed again today. The country is ready to move on.”
Nadler had told CNN in early August that the committee was “investigating all the evidence, we’re gathering the evidence and we will at the conclusion of this, hopefully by the end of the year, vote to, vote articles of impeachment to the House floor or we won’t. That’s a decision that we’ll have to make. But that — that’s exactly the process we’re in right now.”
The CNN host asked Nadler to confirm if the process is in fact a formal impeachment and if the committe “has started drafting or preparing articles of impeachment should you need them?”
“There are articles of impeachment introduced a number of months ago and referred to the committee,” said Nadler. “As the investigation proceeds, we may want to draft our own articles of impeachment that may more closely fit the evidence. We’ll see.”
In a column on SaraACarter.com last week I argued that Nadler’s push for impeachment is not just a crisis for Trump but one for America. I stand by that argument. The Democrats continue to push multiple false narratives in an effort to target Trump.
Remember, over the past several years Nadler, Rep. Adam Schiff and other Democrats haven’t wasted any time spreading false rumors. They have spread disinformation campaigns against the Trump administration.
Nadler’s committee, along with his Democratic colleagues, argue the resolution is similar to procedural votes that took place during the impeachment investigations into Presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton. Not true. And they still have no evidence of obstruction and no evidence that Trump has committed any crime.
Most importantly, don’t buy this Democratic narrative America. All these lawmakers are doing is wasting your tax payer dollars on more nonsense and political theater.
This is politics at its worst and damages our nation far more than Trump.
