U.S. Ambassador Storms Out of U.N. Meeting After France Says Unthinkable About Trump Administration
The French have done it again. The nation that gave the world the baguette, camembert cheese, and snooty accents crossed a big red line on social media after a U.N. Security Council meeting on Friday.
The U.S. envoy, Dan Negrea, a senior delegation official and alternate representative at the General Assembly, slammed France’s “disingenuous grandstanding” and walked out during a Monday meeting
What drew the ire of the seasoned diplomat? France compared the United States to… North Korea.
No, seriously.
Negrea took the French to task over their dishonest smear of the United States.
"There is a member of this council that will feign moral outrage and pretend to lecture the rest of us about every topic, whether it's about the very conflict we're discussing yet again today, or even those unrelated to international peace and security, like human rights," Negrea said.
"That is why we walked out during France's intervention" at the meeting, he added.

Such a walkout from the Security Council, the UN's highest decision-making body where both France and the United States are veto-wielding permanent members, is very rare.
On Friday the United States was one of 10 countries to vote in the General Assembly against extending Volker Turk's term as UN high commissioner for human rights, joining the ranks of North Korea, Russia and Nicaragua, among others.
"The US used to be a beacon of human rights. Not anymore," France's mission to the United Nations in Geneva posted in English after Friday's vote.
"Today, it stands alongside North Korea, Nicaragua, Mali & Russia, isolated. And the world no longer listens to it."
The U.N. Security Council meeting was intended to solve problems regarding Russia and Ukraine, as the war grinds on in its fourth year.
That, unfortunately, is not what is happening at the United Nations, in part due to the low-rent gutter-sniping of legacy European members like France.
Mike Waltz, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, also slammed the French.
"It is disappointing – though not surprising – that this is how France deflects on its shameful vote to coddle some of the worst human rights abusers," Waltz said on X. "France voted for someone who has been lecturing, free, sovereign democracies like the United States, the UK, and Israel, while cozying up to the world’s worst oppressors."
The international tussle captured the attention of political observers.
"Today, at the UN Security Council meeting on the war in Ukraine, the U.S. walked out during France's intervention," remarked commentator Leslie Kajomovitz. "Listen to U.S. envoy Dan Negrea remind France that they would all be speaking German if it weren't for America, and France's pathetic reply."
It should be noted that France has been very reluctant to aid the U.S. military operation in Iran, and indeed, has unusually cozy ties with Tehran.
France would be wise to refrain from criticizing the United States over human rights when radical Islamists are roaming the Parisian streets and stabbing pregnant women, while criminalizing law-abiding citizens who have the audacity to complain about it.

The Islamists in Europe had a crazy weekend, and liberal suicidal empathy has struck again. Someone with Islamist ties drove into attendees of a German Pride event in Berlin, killing one person and injuring at least 29 others. Of course, the Left seems more upset that the attacker was an Arab-Muslim, with one woman at a vigil saying she wished it were a Christian. It’s always astonishing how the gay community remains oblivious to the fact that Muslims would throw these people off rooftops, no matter how many Gaza fundraisers they hold.
Now, in Paris, a Muslim man went on a stabbing spree, injuring three women, one of whom is pregnant. A French off-duty police officer was able to stop the mayhem (via CBS News):
A French off-duty policeman on Monday detained a man after he allegedly attacked and wounded three women in Paris with two kitchen knives, a minister and police said.
The identity of the suspect and his motive were not immediately clear. Parisian authorities were still determining whether to launch a terrorism investigation into the attack.
Three women aged 19, 24 and 36 were taken to the hospital after the assault at around 11:30 a.m. (5:30 a.m. ET) in the Porte de Clichy area in the north of the capital, Interior Minister Laurent Nunez and Paris police said.
Two were seriously wounded and in critical condition, Nunez said. One was hit in the lower back, the other in the abdomen.
The mayor of the northwest 17th district where the stabbings occurred, Geoffroy Boulard, said on X that one of the three was pregnant.
The suspect reportedly said he committed this attack because Allah told him to do it. And here I thought some Tibetan committed the assault.
