What will SCOTUS make of Trump’s birthright citizenship stance?


Maureen Groppe, writing for USA Today, reports that “Trump signed an executive order on the first day of his second term directing federal agencies not to recognize the citizenship of babies born in the United States if neither parent is a citizen or lawful permanent resident.  The order is widely viewed as a legal long shot.”  But with constitutional conservatives like Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito on the Court, who value the original intent of the Fourteenth Amendment’s framers, is Trump’s executive order really such a “long shot”?

President Trump’s executive order concerning birthright citizenship states the following:

The privilege of United States citizenship is a priceless and profound gift.  The Fourteenth Amendment states: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”  That provision rightly repudiated the Supreme Court of the United States’s shameful decision in Dred Scott v. Sandford ... which misinterpreted the Constitution as permanently excluding people of African descent from eligibility for United States citizenship solely based on their race.  But the Fourteenth Amendment has never been interpreted to extend citizenship universally to everyone born within the United States.  The Fourteenth Amendment has always excluded from birthright citizenship persons who were born in the United States but not “subject to the jurisdiction thereof.”

Trump’s order is in line with the intentions of the framers behind the Fourteenth Amendment, and the Supreme Court should rule in Trump’s favor, since the Constitution has not been changed since the amendment was written.

Here is what the Constitution says about birthright citizenship: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.”  This means that persons born in the U.S., but subject to the jurisdiction of another country, based upon their parents’ citizenship, are — according to the amendment’s original intent — not American citizens.  Therefore, babies born to foreign nationals subject to the jurisdiction of Mexico are Mexican citizens.

The Fourteenth Amendment was created to ensure equal protection under law of former slaves, freed after the Civil War, who — as a result of having been subject to the jurisdiction of the United States before being freed — were to be recognized as natural-born or naturalized U.S. citizens.  The authors of the amendment never wanted the offspring of criminally present aliens to be rewarded with U.S. citizenship.

Senator Jacob Howard, co-author of the Fourteenth Amendment with Senator Lyman Trumbull, explained the meaning of the clause “subject to the jurisdiction of the United States,” per the Congressional Globe of May 30, 1866, saying that the intent was not to allow illegal aliens – nor any foreigner from another country — to claim birthright citizenship, but simply to clarify that formerly enslaved persons were citizens, due to their never having been subject to any other jurisdiction than that of the United States.  Constitutional language is always written to express universal principles that apply across cases, which is why the amendment does not mention slaves specifically.

While discussing the proposed amendment before Congress, Senator Howard proclaimed the following:

This amendment ... is simply declaratory of what I regard as the law of the land already, that every person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of person.

Senator Edgar Cowan of Pennsylvania asked this rhetorical question: “Is the child of the Chinese immigrant in California a citizen?”  And in later comments, Cowan asked, “Is it proposed that the people of California are to remain quiescent while they are overrun by a flood of immigration? ... Are they to be immigrated out of house and home by the Chinese?”

Senator Trumbull answered Cowan’s concerns, saying, “The provision is that ‘all persons born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens.’  That means ‘subject to the complete jurisdiction thereof.’”  Referencing remarks by Senator James Doolittle of Wisconsin, Trumbull continued: “Now, does the Senator from Wisconsin pretend to say that the Navajoe [sic] Indians are subject to the complete jurisdiction of the United States? ... Can you sue a Navajoe Indian in court?”  (Navajos were, at the time, considered citizens of an independent Indian nation, unlike today, when every American Indian possesses U.S. citizenship.)

The Fourteenth Amendment also stipulates the following: “The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.”  This sentence means that Congress may make legal clarifications without needing any new constitutional amendments.  However, since Congress has never legislatively established a rule to allow criminally present aliens to create new American citizens by giving birth in the U.S., the legal situation may rightly be interpreted as one in which We the People have not altered the original intent of the amendment.  Currently, Title 8, Section 1401, of the U.S. Code explains who may be considered a citizen, but the president, as chief law enforcement officer, may clarify enforcement policy with regard to illegals.

In absence of a congressional act — or any additional executive orders stating otherwise — President Trump’s January 20, 2025, executive order withholding citizenship from babies born to criminally present aliens serves as official law enforcement policy.

Were Democrats Always This Dumb?


It’s a rhetorical question, but it’s one worth asking: Were Democrats always like this? Did they always hate the country? Did they always side with our enemies if they didn’t like the President? Did they always choose abusers of women if they voted in the right way? Were they always willing to overlook anything, no matter how horrendous, if it was done by someone on their team? Ultimately, the real question is whether or not Democrats were always this dumb?

I’m not talking dumb, as is a stupid person, no. Kamala Harris is a stupid person, educated well beyond her intelligence, famous for tossing word salads full of empty calories and meaningless platitudes. Just this week, the former Vice President told fellow moron Don Lemon, “I really, truly believe this. We each have light inside of us. And we need to know that that is what inspires our hope as much as anything external to ourselves. And when we feel that and not allow an election or an individual to dampen that light, and instead light, let that light kind of carry us in particular through moments of darkness, that that we not only act on that hope, but we inspire that hope in each other. And in particular, at this moment, it is so important that we not only have hope, but that we understand that that should be a verb.”

Kamala Harris was chosen to be Joe Biden’s running mate because she, like a short person hanging out with midgets to seem taller, was one of the few people on the planet who could make Joe Biden seem smarter than he was.

Harris, however, was more the norm than an outlier.

Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) — South Park’s Mr. Mackey, came to life — tried to make a point about Elon Musk’s wealth to try to sound smart, and ended up giving a lesson in economics that someone who drank lead paint as a child would come up with. Schiff’s idea? Seize Musk’s stocks and “spread the wealth around” to everyone.

This is normally a thought kids grow out of by the time they hit puberty, but Adam has not grown out of it. Socialism sounds good to people who don’t know any better, who have no real-world lived experience. Life tends to take most basic stupidity out of people. Democrats aren’t most people.

Schiff opined that each household would be $7,500 richer if the feds swiped everything Elon has. The problem is, if you force the sale of stock, you will be flooding the market over demand, which would drive the price through the floor. Not only would households not get the full trillion, every single retirement account with stocks from Elon’s companies – companies that have made tens of millions of retirement fund money – would collapse too.

Families would get a small amount of money in the end, which the government would likely tax them on, and their retirement funds would be devastated, all because Adam Schiff is trying to appeal to people with the IQ of someone who has recently suffered a serious closed-head injury.

Speaking of Elon Musk, have you noticed how he and First Lady Melania Trump are the only two immigrants in the country Democrats want to deport? The richest man ever, who has created more millionaires than any entity that has ever existed (except the federal government, which is THE REAL problem), and a wealthy former model who spends her time helping people. That’s it.

No rapist, no murderer, no child molester, none – not a single Democrat is willing to deport any of them. They cheer Al Gore, who has done nothing but make himself rich by selling a failed TV network for $300 million, as an environmentalist hero. But the guy who found a way to make electric vehicles desirable to the public is getting Internet access everywhere on the globe, and literally taking us into space after Obama killed NASA, he’s got to go.

Inbreeding isn’t enough to explain how dumb Democrats are.

They cheer a Nazi who abuses women and cheats on his wife before the ink is dry on his wedding license, they line up behind a weirdo in Texas with an obsession with “trans kids,” and all the vibes of someone with missing children chained to a radiator in their basement. They drool over the Soviet-style architecture of Obama’s public masturbation project and label him the greatest President ever, all while campaigning to “fix health care” after the disaster of his “signature achievement” Obamacare.

Do they not hear themselves?

Of course, this is not new. These are the people who cheered Ted Kennedy, who make Graham Platner look like Gloria Steinem. They celebrated Gerry Studds for being defiant over sex with a minor in the House Page Program, whereas James Talarico just gives that “ick” sense without action (so far). And they loved Jimmy Carter, who held the title of worst President ever until Joe Biden came along.

So, yes, Democrats were always dumb. The question is will they continue to get dumber? Given the public education system in the areas they control, there is every reason to think they will, which means we have to work even harder to keep them away from power. Sharpen your elbows.

JD Vance Heads to Switzerland, As Peace Talks Over the MOU and Israel-Lebanon Ceasefire Continue

On Saturday, Vice President JD Vance departed on Air Force Two for Switzerland, to be a part of the negotiations with the Iranian leaders to solidify the terms of the end of the Iran conflict in the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) and to further shore up the tentative ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. According to VP Vance, special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have been on the ground in Switzerland in preparation for the talks to resume on Sunday.

The vice president addressed the press briefly before boarding, and answered a few questions about what the Switzerland trip might entail.

VANCE: We're about to take up talks with the Iranians, the Pakistanis, and the Qataris. Our understanding is that the Iranians just landed. The Qataris and Pakistanis and some of our technical negotiators have been on the ground. So, look, you know, we'll have a couple of days of talks, we're gonna get this thing kicked off in the right way. There's a lot to discuss, but we're gonna get through it all.

As RedState reported, due to the bombing between Israel and Hezbollah which appeared to signal a breaking of the tentative ceasefire, Iran postponed the talks originally scheduled for Friday, and threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz

The reporter asked about what work the U.S. planned to do to ensure the ceasefire would hold.

REPORTER: The fighting in Lebanon seems to continue to threaten to upend the entire process. What does the U.S. plan to do about that?

VANCE: Well, [Secretary of State] Marco [Rubio] and the entire team have been actively managing what's going on in Lebanon. Despite the headlines, things are actually getting better there, things have calmed down a little bit. It's going to be something we're just going to have to continuously manage, to ensure that, you know, Israel and Lebanon are both safe and secure. That's fundamentally the goal of this, is to make the whole region safe and secure.

The big problem is that you have, somebody will shoot, and somebody will respond, and you kind of have a chicken-and-egg problem, where you just got to stop the shooting for long enough to get the ceasefire to keep hold. That's what we're gonna try to do. We'll keep on working at it, but things have gotten better.

The reporter than asked Vance about the specifics of his schedule in Switzerland. 

REPORTER: What would make this a successful trip for you?

VANCE: Well, I think number one, just getting things set up in the right way, and getting the actual structure of negotiation in place. So, the way we're going to do this is we're going to have principal level political leadership at the top, and obviously the technical team is going to stay on the ground. As much as I might like to stay, in what appears to be a beautiful place, I can only be there for a day or two. I think we can hopefully make progress on the nuclear issue, make progress on the Lebanon ceasefire issue, those are the two big things that I think we're going to be focused on. I'm sure the Iranians are going to have issues they'd like to discuss as well.

As RedState further reported, spokesman for U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOMM) Capt. Tim Hawkins affirmed earlier on Saturday, “Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz. Traffic continues to flow, and U.S. forces are monitoring the situation to ensure this remains the case.”


America 250 Just Put the Spotlight on the Generation Coming Next With Launch of Patriot Games

The United States turns 250 years old in a few weeks, and the celebration is already taking shape in the usual big, patriotic ways: fireworks, concerts, military flyovers, historical exhibits, and events stretching from Washington, D.C., to Mount Rushmore. One of the newest additions, though, is aimed less at the country's past than at the kids who will inherit its future.

Freedom 250 announced Friday that it is launching the 2026 Patriot Games, a nationwide athletic competition that will bring together high school athletes ages 14 through 17 from every state, territory, and tribal nation for three days of competition in August. One male champion and one female champion will split a $250,000 scholarship prize.

The idea is ambitious without being complicated. A teenager from rural Montana could end up competing against someone from New York City. A student-athlete from Guam could share the field with a competitor from Texas. Kids from communities that would never meet under ordinary circumstances will have a chance to stand on the same national stage.

Competitors will be selected through an application process that includes a short video explaining who they are and why they want to participate. The competition will take place Aug. 9-11, 2026.

National exposure is a major part of the rollout. Freedom 250 said competition coverage will stream on the ESPN App before culminating in a one-hour ESPN on ABC primetime special on Aug. 13, 2026, giving the young competitors a national audience during the country's 250th anniversary celebration. ESPN President of Content Burke Magnus said in a statement:

"We're excited to give millions of Americans the opportunity to cheer on and support some of the country's most promising young athletes as they compete for a scholarship in celebration of America's 250th anniversary."

The Patriot Games join a much larger America 250 lineup already underway. Freedom 250 has announced events including the Great American State Fair on the National Mall, a celebration at Mount Rushmore, a massive international naval review in New York Harbor, and a July 4 Salute to America celebration in Washington, D.C.

Earlier in 2026, a giant American flag was draped across Hoover Dam and illuminated with hundreds of lights as part of the broader anniversary effort. The display quickly became one of the most recognizable images associated with the countdown to America's 250th birthday.

Those events remind Americans where the country has been. The Patriot Games put the focus on who comes next, which matters at a time when plenty of people seem more comfortable apologizing for America than celebrating it. This event goes the other direction.

Freedom 250 CEO Keith Krach said in a statement the organization hopes the event will inspire the next generation.

"Our nation's 250th birthday is more than a celebration of our past. It's a call to inspire the next generation of leaders, innovators, and patriots."

Somewhere tonight, a teenager is finishing football practice. Another is putting in extra laps on a track. Someone else is shooting baskets in a driveway while the sun goes down. By the middle of August, some of those same kids could be standing in front of a national television audience during one of the biggest celebrations in modern American history.

For a country preparing to celebrate its first 250 years, that feels like a pretty good way to start thinking about the next 250.


CENTCOM: 'Traffic Continues to Flow' Through Strait, U.S. 'Monitoring Situation,' After Iran Claim

Earlier on Saturday morning, RedState shared the latest developments in the peace negotiations between the U.S. and Iran ahead of planned meetings on Sunday:

The Trump administration’s interim agreement with Iran is already under serious strain. Iran’s joint military command announced Saturday that it has re-closed the Strait of Hormuz, citing continued Israeli military operations in Lebanon and what it characterized as American “bad faith” and a “clear breach of its commitments.”

The announcement came on Iranian state television, which warned that “if the aggression continues, subsequent steps have been planned.”

Vice President JD Vance, in a comment during an interview Saturday, threw the Iranian regime's claim about closing the strait into question:

Vice President JD Vance, speaking to Fox News Saturday morning, disputed Iran’s announcement, saying there is no evidence the Strait of Hormuz is actually closed despite Iranian state media reports to the contrary. U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are already in Switzerland, and Vance said he expects to join them within “the next couple of days.”

Later on Saturday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) issued a statement through spokesman Capt. Tim Hawkins, asserting that "[t]raffic continues to flow" through the strait:

“Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz. Traffic continues to flow, and U.S. forces are monitoring the situation to ensure this remains the case.”

The NY Times story linked above continued: [emphasis added]

Fifty-five commercial ships traveled through the strait on Saturday, according to the U.S. Central Command, the largest number of ships in a single day since early in the war, though still far below the 130 daily prewar average. It was not clear whether traffic had changed after Iran’s warnings.

CENTCOM published an article on X first thing on Saturday about the traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, also:

TAMPA, Fla. — Commercial ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz increased June 20 as U.S. forces continued operating in the general area to support freedom of navigation. Safe passage through the international waterway remained intact today as 55 merchant ships transited, moving large amounts of cargo and more than 17 million barrels of oil to global markets. The Joint Maritime Information Center issued an advisory this week affirming safe passage for all vessels along a designated route that is free of arbitrary requirement claims or impediments. U.S. forces remain present and vigilant to ensure all aspects of the agreement with Iran are adhered to, obeyed, and in full force and effect.


Trump Just Slapped Down This Iranian Scheme for Strait of Hormuz



President Donald Trump on Saturday affirmed that there will be no tolls in the Strait of Hormuz for the 60 days following the deal established between the U.S. and Iran to allow more time for negotiations.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote:

There will be NO TOLLS in the  Hormuz Strait for 60 days during the Cease Fire Period, and there will be NO TOLLS after the 60 day period has expired, unless they are imposed by and for the United States of America, should the deal not be completed, for services rendered as the Guardian Angel to the countries of the Middle East for purposes of both past, present, and future reimbursement of costs.

Trump’s announcement comes days after he signed a deal with the Iranian regime to curtail the fighting while reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran had blocked since shortly after the war began in late February. It also calls for the cessation of fighting in Lebanon between Israel and Hezbollah and requires the Iranian regime to dilute its stockpile of highly enriched uranium and halt its efforts to get nuclear weapons.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the regime is “not seeking to levy transit tolls; however, fees will be charged in exchange for the services that are provided,” according to The New York Times.

Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz restarted after the agreement was signed. But the flow of vessels is still below normal levels. Mine clearing teams are working to remove the hazards left during the war. However, there has been some uncertainty over whether the regime will still try to impose tolls despite what the agreement mandates.

Meanwhile, oil prices have finally begun to drop now that the waterway is open again. The waterway carries about 20 percent of the world’s oil and natural gas, as well as other resources. But if Iran imposes fees on traffic through the region, it could slow any relief Americans might get at the gas pump.

President Trump Notes Opposition Effort to Destroy DC Reflection Pool


Team Algae and Filth has been busy at work, supported by CNN, ABC and various leftist media, in an attempt to grow algae back in the DC reflection pool, and cut out the newly installed lining.  A few arrests have been made by DC park police.

Yes, these folks are that unstable.  Liberalism is a mental disorder.

President Trump responds to the effort via Truth Social:

“We’ve cleaned, renovated, and beautified over 45 Monuments and Memorials, 28 Statues, and 22 Fountains in Washington, D.C. Things are really looking good in our Nation’s Capital, and add to that the fact that when I became President, Crime was rampant, and now, Washington, D.C., is one of the Safest Cities anywhere in the United States. However, we’ve had some real problems with Vandalism at the beautiful Reflecting Pool, which sits between The Washington Monument and The Lincoln Memorial.

Just like three days ago, they destroyed the grass outside of the Pool, they’ve also done everything possible to hurt the inside surface that was just installed. No different than the chemicals that were used on the National Mall, they used something similar in the Reflecting Pool to try to destroy and demean our beautiful work. Lightweight ABC Reporter, Jonathan Karl, was seen sticking his hand into the Pool, and trying to rip the rubber off of the surface. The algae is 75% gone, and the condition will soon be completely remedied, and the area that was vandalized, fortunately, is just a small area of damage, and will be fixed early next week. It’s a shame that the Radical Left Lunatics, most likely Dumocats, who have spent their lives trying to ruin our Country, are free to do so. Law Enforcement is actively investigating this situation and will hopefully have it resolved soon. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Pulte Factor – Quick Reference Guide to Media Leaks


With Acting DNI Bill Pulte coming into office, several people have requested my simple guide to identifying media leaks.

This reference resource is based on historic patterns and generally has an 80/20 accuracy rate.  While there are some leaks that cross through the data pattern, in the aggregate this basic outline has shown to be correct.

The leak source identification can help interested political observers understand the motives and objectives.

When you see the term “exclusive” in the originating media report, this guide increases in accuracy:

  • The State Department leaks to CNN
  • The CIA leaks to The Washington Post
  • The DOJ/FBI leaks to The New York Times and Politico
  • DHS domestically leaks to the Wall Street Journal
  • The National Security Council leaks primarily to Axios and Politico, NYT secondary
  • The Pentagon leaks to Fox News and the Wall Street Journal (Axios more recent)
  • Kash Patel leaks to John Solomon – Just The News
  • ¹DNI leaks to the Wall Street Journal, however:

¹The ODNI gets a little complicated due to the structure of the ODNI.  Each intelligence agency has a liaison office inside the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.  Generally, the topline guide above overlays with the desk assignment.

Example 1: CNN gets an ‘exclusive’ leak related to the DNI; the leak sourcing is therefore most likely to be the State Dept Desk inside the DNI office. (State Dept leaks to CNN)

Example 2: Washington Post gets an ‘exclusive’ leak related to the DNI.  The leak sourcing is directly from the CIA liaison desk inside DNI.  (CIA leaks to WaPo)

This is the consistent pattern that established itself over the past 20 years.  It is generally accurate on an 80/20 basis. Meaning 80% of the time the origin of the leak can be identified this way with accuracy; 20% of the time it is not.
