Have We Broken Iran’s Will Yet?

War is all about breaking the enemy’s will to fight.  Clearly, we haven’t yet done that in Iran.

The regime continues to thump its chest in public, threatening its neighbors, threatening us, and claiming to have won the war.  That is not the behavior of an enemy on its knees.

The regime’s latest peace “proposal” is no more than a rehash of the irredentist talking points it has been trotting out regularly for decades.  The Iranians claim sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.  They assert their “right” to enrich uranium (and to exclude it from the negotiations).  They refuse limits on their ballistic missiles and drones and are not prepared to abandon arming proxies such as Hamas and Hezb’allah.

That’s no peace proposal.  It’s a defiant declaration of war.

But even dictators reach a breaking point, when they throw in the towel, commit suicide, or sue for peace.

Iran’s revolutionary leadership is no exception.  In June 1988, Ayatollah Khomeini “drank the chalice of poison” and ended the eight-year war with Iraq.  Why?  Many commentators believe that it was because the United States sank one third of their navy in a single day that April (Operation Praying Mantis).

That certainly played a role.  But the determining factor was Saddam’s ruthless use of chemical weapons.

It began with the devastating chemical weapons attack on the Iraqi Kurdish city of Halabja on March 17–18, 1988, to punish the city for having temporarily fallen into Iranian hands.  The Iranians sent a Revolutionary Guards video crew to film the aftermath, and those images lived on to haunt not just the Iraqi Kurdish survivors, but Iranian television viewers and regime leaders.

It continued with the final assault on Fao later that spring, when Lieutenant General Maher Rashid loaded the 200 tanks of an entire armored division onto West German transporters and shifted them from al Amarah, where the Iranians were expecting an attack, to the Fao Peninsula, some 170 miles to the south, all in a single night.

I was reporting regularly on the war at the time and will never forget the harrowing eyewitness accounts of terrified Iranian troops who fled from the lurid clouds of poison gas the Iraqis dispersed on the battlefield.  They were literally frightened out of their wits.  And Iranian television played those interviews abundantly — no doubt to buttress the political decision the ayatollah was about to announce that he was ending the war.

Don’t get me wrong.  I am not suggesting that the United States should use chemical weapons, or nuclear weapons, or any other weapon of mass destruction in Iran.  But I do think we need to strike terror in the hearts of Iran’s rulers, and that starts by striking terror in the hearts of IRGC troops.

We must make them understand that there is no way they can survive the continuation of the war.  Right now, they are pinching themselves.  Hey, Trump, that’s the best you can do?

The president was briefed by CENTCOM commander Admiral Bradley Cooper at the White House on Thursday on his military options.  As we learned during the takedown of Maduro in Venezuela in January, the U.S. has developed weapons whose existence has not yet been revealed.  Then, it was what the president calls the “discombobulator.”  Who knows what else they might have in store?

Donald Trump has weaponized uncertainty, blowing hot and cold on negotiations, praising the “new” regime” for presenting “new” proposals, all while our military deploys new capabilities in the region.

Will the blockade continue, or will we return to war?  It will depend on the Iranian regime.  Do these people actually want to make a deal, which means meeting Trump’s terms?

I think they have no intention of actually negotiating but are just buying time.  Meanwhile, they are running out of oil storage capacity and have stopped making payroll to the troops, the bassijis, the schoolteachers and oil workers.

I do not expect the regime to implode from within.  Not yet, at least.  It will continue to fight — and fight its own people — until we make them stop.

We must break the regime’s will.  And we are nowhere near that point yet.

Why Blackpilling On Trump Is Stupid

Despite disappointments, there are still many good reasons why America First patriots should not despair but instead continue to support Trump.

Sixteen months into the second Trump administration, many are weighing the president’s successes on his agenda, especially in light of the upcoming midterm elections in November.

It has become very fashionable in certain circles of the internet and social media for right-wing influencers and voters to cast aspersion on the Trump administration, expressing intense skepticism at best and outright hostility at worst. This fatalistic phenomenon, known as “blackpilling,” has markedly increased in the wake of the ongoing Iran conflict since February.

With Trump swept back into office in the 2024 election upon an incredible backlash of populist support against the rank corruptions and disastrous policies of the Biden regime, the president’s supporters were optimistic about the possibilities for reform. Nevertheless, there have been many occasions for disappointment among loyal Trump supporters.

We want deep-state actors and Antifa criminals to face justice. We have yet to see even a fraction of the aggressive prosecutions, punishments, and deployments of force against ongoing left-wing violence, despite prosecutions repeatedly being weaponized against right-wing activists and loyalists under the previous administration.

As attorney general, Pam Bondi seemed lethargic, even causing the president to criticize her. The retirement of Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino, previously the public face of the mass deportations operation, has come as a big blow to Trump loyalists. And, of course, the war with Iran is the subject of reasonable skepticism from Trump supporters who want to prioritize domestic issues and eschew further Middle Eastern wars, especially when the campaign is aggressively advocated by the Israeli government with seeming indifference to American interests.

But despite these disappointments, there are still many concrete and rational reasons why America First patriots should not despair but instead loyally, though not uncritically, support President Trump. Voters should be honest, yet honesty requires not merely listing failures or discouragements but also keeping perspective, documenting wins, and fairly examining all the reasons not to give up.

Since January 2025, the Trump administration has been moving at a record pace to bring reforms. There’s not nearly enough space here to cover them all, so here are just a few highlights.

Immigration

Immigration was likely the biggest issue of Trump’s campaign, and his administration is delivering unprecedented results on both illegal and legal immigration. While many have suggested the Trump administration is backing away from mass deportations, the numbers do not show that, instead showing consistently high levels of arrests, detentions, and deportations.

As a result of the One Big Beautiful Bill passed last summer, the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Customs and Border Protection have received the largest increase in funding ever, funding that is supporting hiring thousands of new agents and building migrant detention centers across the country. The Trump administration has repeatedly stated that all illegal aliens are subject to detention and removal, and the statistics show that the administration is not merely targeting the “worst of the worst” criminal aliens, but that detentions and deportations of illegal aliens without an additional criminal record are also increasing.

The administration seeks to end welfare benefits for illegal aliens and to remove all incentives for them to remain in the U.S. With this increased regulatory pressure, self-deportations could increase exponentially. The administration has also set a new record for the number of 287(g) legal partnerships with local law enforcement agencies, thus deputizing them to help carry out federal immigration law. While the removal numbers are lower than many voters would like, these are still the largest mass deportations of illegal aliens ever undertaken by a presidential administration.

On the issue of legal immigration, the Trump administration has revoked more than 100,000 visas. While the administration has been unable to oversee a change in the law due to congressional gridlock and impotence, it has seriously reduced the number of H-1B work visas issued to foreigners and worked to revoke Temporary Protected Status for many countries. For the first time in 50 years, in 2025, the U.S. experienced a net negative migration rate. Also, the rate of naturalizations has fallen off, as the Trump administration has increased scrutiny of those seeking citizenship. And Trump is the first president ever to openly challenge the prevailing left-wing interpretation of “birthright citizenship,” fighting for American sovereignty and the value of citizenship.

Prosecutions

When it comes to prosecuting and punishing corrupt deep-state actors and left-wing domestic terrorists, the DOJ and the various federal law enforcement agencies have indeed been indicting, arresting, and prosecuting. Just in the last week or so, we have received promising updates with indictments of the Southern Poverty Law Center, Fauci aide David Morens, former FBI Director James Comey, and domestic terrorists in Minneapolis who mobbed conservative reporter Savanah Hernandez.

Admittedly, the indictments and arrests should increase, and the federal government should do everything possible to target and dismantle networks of left-wing terrorism, especially given yet another assassination attempt on President Trump’s life. However, most people who simply look on and say, “Why isn’t the administration doing anything?” do not accurately understand the scale of obstacles.

Leftists dominate the federal judiciary, many state and local judiciaries, and many federal and local prosecutors. To bring the desired reforms and pursue justice, Trump must purge the corrupt characters from the DOJ, bring indictments, and secure convictions and sentences. The same corrupt, left-wing forces in the justice system that nakedly collaborated to target Trump and his supporters leading up to the 2024 election still have enormous influence and are now working to obstruct his reforms. The left-wing corruption that dominates our justice system has not gone away overnight simply because we changed the people nominally in charge at the top. Even in cases where Trump can get loyal prosecutors and bring charges, judicial obstruction and jury nullification remain serious obstacles, especially since most of the charges will be brought in blue jurisdictions where leftist activity takes place.

GOP Obstruction

It is also worth noting that Trump continues to face massive obstruction from those nominally on his own side — from corrupt, cowardly elements of the GOP. Republican senators have refused to confirm some of Trump’s best appointments, insisted on maintaining the outdated filibuster and blue slip process while refusing to use the talking filibuster, and have thus made it impossible to pass the SAVE America Act. President Trump has openly called for them to abolish the filibuster and support his agenda, but a sufficient number of corrupt Republicans continue their obstruction.

Don’t Blackpill

Given these efforts and so many more, Trump supporters who may be skeptical or despairing should keep things in perspective. Before you openly declare the defeat of MAGA or Trump’s betrayal of his supporters, consider the totality of circumstances. Trump has taken major steps in the right direction — steps that very few thought we could realistically achieve through the political process and through the GOP at all. We are in a vastly superior position than we were just a few years ago. Everything we have achieved so far has come, directly or indirectly, from Trump; we would have no ascendant America First political movement without his 2016 candidacy and everything he has achieved since. So it is foolish to talk about abandoning Trump or somehow perpetuating MAGA without him now. And even while many question the wisdom of the Iran War, it has not turned out as disastrously as its loudest critics predicted, and Trump seems interested in bringing the conflict to an end, albeit on his own terms.

Politics is not a pick-and-choose buffet. We can either achieve some right-wing success through the Trump administration, or we will get a leftist backlash that will make everything prior look tame in comparison. There is no third option. We are engaged in a titanic struggle against global leftism, and we have barely begun to fight.

Despair is sin. Instead of being quick to criticize Trump, the man in the arena literally risking his life for us, we should consider where we can meaningfully join the effort to reform the GOP, defeat the left, and restore America. Any criticisms of the Trump administration should only be offered in good faith by those who are fighting for our country as hard as the president and his team are. The decline of America is the result of decades of drift and corruption, and that decline will not be reversed overnight. But Trump gives us hope, and giving in to despair only helps his enemies who wish to destroy everything we hold dear.

If you want to witness a society’s end-stage decadence, look at the Met Gala

If you want to witness a society’s end-stage decadence, look at the Met Gala

Once, the Met Gala was about upper-class women dressing up in nice clothes. Now, though, it’s a scene of ugliness, perversion, and debauchery.

Andrea Widburg for American Thinker

The Met Gala, which began in 1948 to benefit the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, has always focused on clothes, but the original focus was on the museums costumes, not the attendees fashions. In the early years, the clothes the women guests wore, while very luxurious, were about beauty, elegance, and femininity. The men, of course, wore tuxedos. That’s changed, with many of the famous attendees trying to outdo each other with ugliness, perversion, and debauchery.

Images from early Met Galas are copyrighted, but you can get an idea of how guests dressed by looking at this retrospective of the 1960 Gala. While celebrities attended (I think one of those photos shows Joan Crawford), the guests were mostly wealthy New Yorkers supporting the arts, and they looked normal.

Things have changed since then. The Met Gala is now a place for the rich and famous to see and be seen. But they’re not there to show how elegant and beautiful they are. They are there, instead, to shock people. There’s an unpleasant Weimar vibe about the whole thing, with America’s bored, wealthy people competing with each other for shock value in a dying culture.

Here’s a small collection of the weird and ugly. My favorite in that category is Cardi B, in part because of Mario Nawfal’s perfect comment:

Ah, Cardi B. The devoutly Catholic bisexual performer who used to make money as a stripper and by drugging and robbing men (something for which she feels no remorse). Culturally, she started off Weimar-ish and has gone downhill since then.

Meanwhile, as you see, Madonna borrowed from Morticia Addams, adding a plague ship as a headdress. Morticia would have ditched the headdress and looked a thousand times classier (and less dead).

Or how about Sam Smith, who famously claims to have transcended the normal sexual binary? That costume does not flatter him, but it’s better than aping the devil:

Sam Smith wasn’t the only “I know better than God” person there:

The theme this year was “Fashion is Art”… but this just looks like a rejected horror movie prop.

Connor Storries bio does not proclaim him to be an alphabet person. Seemingly, he lost a bet:

Rihanna and Rocky (but not the good Rocky) put on a good show. He’s in a pink bathrobe with Tuxedo stylings (a good gag gift for a 10-year-old girl), and she’s emerging from something that reminds me of the worm monsters in Tremors (one of the best comedy horror movies ever):

Kim Kardashian, whose whole shtick is shock, arrived in a sprayed-on plastic orange swimsuit—at least, in the front. It was bagging and pouching in the back. It was the worst of all possible worlds, since it was both boring and unsexy:

Kylie Jenner, refusing to be outdone by her half-sister, arrived in a sprayed-on plastic flesh-colored swimsuit:

These sisters’ assets have been so over-exposed that the shock value is gone, and nothing of value remains.

Doechii saved most of her costume for her head, with a bare nod (and I mean “bare” literally) to her body:

Margot Robbie, to her credit, opted for class. The dress was boring and unflattering for such a beautiful woman, but it really stood out simply by not being offensive:

Not all of it was about spectacle. Sarah Paulson, worth around $12 million, opted for social commentary so hypocritical it’s almost an art form in itself:

Rachel Zegler also covered her eyes, but she did so as a dramatic recreation of Lady Jane Grey’s execution. Zegler seemed to be struggling with a TMJ problemaffecting her jaw, or maybe she was just using her acting chops, such as they are, to convey the horror of a principled young woman facing the headman’s axe:

This video compiles some of the weirdest clothes, including many I haven’t shown here:

The best, of course, was the imaginary Marco Rubio costume:

I could do this indefinitely, because there is so much fodder. It’s amusing, but also deeply depressing. Our cultural leaders are morally corrupt, tacky people.

But there is hope. Just as the debauchery of late 18th- and early 19th-century British high culture was eventually wiped away by the morality of the Victorian middle class, there are signs that, underneath America’s rot, cultural normalcy is reasserting itself. The most obvious sign is young men returning to church. It’s hoped that young women, finding that a life of being angry and having cats for their only companions, will go where the boys are.

MS NOW Anchor Proves She Doesn't Know a Single MAGA American

The Democrats despise anyone who doesn't live in one of their coastal elite or blue cities, and it shows. Voter ID is a widely supported measure that cuts across all demographics and political ideologies, but the Democratic Party continues to oppose common-sense measures to protect our elections.

They also ignore the fact that you need an ID to open a bank account, fly on a plane, and — if you live in Connecticut — to recycle cans and bottles. That last one is especially galling because Democrats claim voter ID disenfranchises the poor and minorities, and it's often homeless or poor individuals who collect cans and bottles for the recycling cash.

When you dine out, you also need an ID if you wish to purchase alcohol, and most restaurants have a policy of carding patrons. That's news to MS NOW's Catherine Rampell, who thinks the only reason why MAGA voters believe this is because "they've been eating all their meals at strip clubs."

Keep it classy, Catherine.

She might die if she met someone outside of her little enclave.

By the way, Rampell lives in New York, where the law requires retailers to card anyone who buys alcohol. To avoid liability, many retailers and restaurants simply have a "card everyone" rule, which means Rampell knows diners who've been carded.

She has. She's lying.

She knows this, but letting her "friend" dunk on MAGA was more fun.

Harsh, but fair.

Rampell would never stoop to setting foot in an Applebee's.

That's exactly what this is.

"This is an East Coast 'not a democrat I'm a journalist' apparently texting a 15-year-old about not getting carded at any restaurant in Times Square. The Bulwark has become more parodied than Salon," Miller wrote.

They wouldn't eat at Chili's, either.

Rampell knows what Blanche was talking about. She's just pretending she doesn't so she can act like MAGA voters eat at strip clubs. It's a slimy smear, but we expect no better from The Bulwark or MS NOW.

17 quakes in 1 day; what’s happening at Area 51?

17 quakes in 1 day; what’s happening at Area 51?

Seismologists swear they were normal seismic activity, but … this is Area 51, where nothing is “normal.”

Autism article image

Craig Richter for American Thinker

So, what’s shakin’ at Area 51? The ground, that’s what.

Long the source of UFO theories, the highly secretive United States Air Force base in Nevada has captured the imagination of tin-foil hatters to military aficionados alike.

So when 17 shallow earthquakes were recorded from the site in a single day last week, it got added attention, according to the New York Post.

Seismologists swear they were normal seismic activity, but … this is Area 51, where nothing is “normal.”

Among the theories: underground nuclear testing, and the construction of multiple underground cities using nuclear-powered drilling machines.

If either is true, it’s more likely the former. I’ve long believed the UFO story is encouraged by the government as a distraction to the actual top-secret work going on there. In fact, President Donald Trump last week vowed again to open UFO files to the public. Hmmm. Right when the ground was moving at Area 51.

Here are a few theories over the years about what’s happening at Area 51, generated by Google Gemini AI:

1. The “Black Project” Aviation Hub (Proven)
This isn’t a theory so much as the base’s primary job. Area 51 is the birthplace of legendary “black project” aircraft like the U-2 spy plane, the SR-71 Blackbird, and the F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter.

Today’s Activity: Recent sightings in 2026 have captured thermal footage of “triangular” or “dorito-shaped” craft, likely prototypes for the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program—the Air Force’s 6th-generation fighter jet.

2. Reverse-Engineering Foreign Technology
Beyond aliens, the U.S. has a long history of “acquiring” Soviet/foreign hardware during the Cold War.

The Theory: The base is used to dismantle and test-fly stolen or recovered Russian and Chinese MiGs and radar systems to find their weaknesses. This is often called “exploring the threat.”

3. Alien Technology & The “S-4” Facility
This is the “Bob Lazar” theory that made the base famous.

The Theory: Deep inside the mountainside at a sub-facility called S-4, the government is reverse-engineering nine different extraterrestrial craft.

The Specifics: Claims include research into Element 115 (Moscovium) as a propulsion fuel and “gravity-wave” engines that allow for instantaneous travel.

4. Mass Surveillance & Electronic Warfare
Area 51 sits inside the Nevada Test and Training Range, a massive block of restricted airspace.

The Theory: It serves as a testing ground for RATT55 (Radar Airborne Testbed), a highly modified Boeing 737 that acts as a “flying mirror” to test how invisible new stealth planes are to advanced radar.

Surveillance: Some believe it’s the hub for global drone control and high-altitude surveillance systems that can track individuals anywhere on Earth.

5. Weather Control & Atmospheric Research
Because of its remote location and high security, some theorists link Area 51 to HAARP-style atmospheric research.

The Theory: The military is testing “weather as a weapon,” using high-frequency lasers or chemicals to seed clouds, create localized storms, or disrupt enemy communications via the ionosphere.

6. Teleportation & Time Travel (The “Looking Glass” Theory)
This is one of the “fringe” theories that has gained traction in deep-web conspiracy circles.

The Theory: “Project Looking Glass” allegedly uses ancient or alien tech to “see” into the future or create portals (wormholes) for instantaneous transport of personnel between different secret bases (like the rumored tunnels under Denver Airport).
