Does the Democrats’ Chaos Strategy Work?

The Democrats’ blue-state victories on Tuesday were only to be expected, but with a year to go before the midterms, they show that Republicans need to focus on the economy.

We can draw a few conclusions from an off-year election, when iconic races in blue states went, as expected, overwhelmingly Democratic.

Nevertheless, there is only a year left before the midterms. So Republicans must react to even these paltry results.

1) Democrats’ chaotic nihilism still works. The chaos strategy causes so much turmoil, noise, and negative media coverage that the confused voting public simply cannot sort it all out. The public wishes the upheaval would just go away and often blames those with the most current authority — logically, the incumbent, President Trump, and his administration.

2) Every day of Mr. Trump’s first year, there were either campus eruptions, Tesla firebombings, street violence against ICE, or crazy district judges’ injunctions.

The bedlam becomes force multiplied by unhinged outbursts from Democrats like AOC, Jasmine Crockett, Eric Swalwell, and the proverbial Squad.

The latest firecracker was thrown by a now Biden-like, faltering Nancy Pelosi, who recently screamed on CNN that Mr. Trump “is just a vile creature, the worst thing on the face of the Earth.”

The public has no time to sort out all the actual causes for such mad hattery. It knows only from Democrats that the commotion is roughly correlated with “Trump.”

Note that there is never a positive Democratic “Contract with America,” since it is impossible to advance anything popular or moderate past its now firmly socialist base.

3) Democrats also use the chaos strategy to target key electoral groups.

In this week’s election, Republicans finally grasped the purpose of the pre-election shutdown.

It was designed to galvanize key constituencies to get out the vote in a low-turnout year. The lockdown was especially aimed at two groups: laid-off and unpaid government workers and entitlement recipients terrified that their checks would dry up.

Both turned out disproportionately in Virginia and New Jersey.

The Democrats are likely to resolve the shutdown soon, as the initial momentum gained by paralyzing the government is now diminishing.

The same strategy applies to the Hispanic vote that had defected in large numbers to Trump in 2024. However, this week, in many counties, the Hispanic vote shifted back toward the Democratic Party.

The truth does not get out enough that 70-80 percent of deportations are targeted at those with either criminal records or prior deportation orders.

Instead, the nonstop violent protests, the dangerous nullification threats from blue-city officials, and the slanted media coverage worked like proverbial propaganda to reduce ICE to “the Gestapo.”

Too many of the public believed that “Nazis” were hounding only law-abiding housekeepers and landscapers, who have been here for decades and only by accident forgot to make their de facto Americanness official.

Or so the successful Big Lie went — and went unchallenged.

The administration and MAGA do not talk enough about positive news of GDP growth, tolerable inflation, massive foreign investment, a calmer Middle East, or numerous miraculous ceasefires around the globe.

Instead, when there is a vacuum in self-praise, it is more easily replaced by the sensationalism of Trump’s “revenge tour” in hounding the boy scout James Comey and poor Letitia James, of taking a wrecking ball to the revered White House, or of insulting for no reason our blameless, “nice,” and gentle Canadian neighbors. The economy, not culs-de-sac, wins elections.

4) Much of the Trump agenda, other than spectacular military recruitment and a secure border, is more long-term than instantly gratifying.

The multitrillion-dollar foreign investments may take a year or two to create jobs and spark the economy.

The deportations will take time to switch more jobs to U.S. citizens.

New gas, oil, and nuclear energy production, trimming the federal workforce, deregulating, and greenlighting AI and other new technologies will not be felt immediately.

After the summer 1984 convention, even Ronald Reagan trailed the anemic Walter Mondale in a few polls. Then the first three quarters of GDP — cumulatively over 7% growth — were digested, as the economy took off and buried Mondale by the November elections.

5) There is no longer a Democratic Party. It is now an unapologetically neo-socialist Jacobin movement. So traditional negative advertising designed to incur scandal and shame simply does not always work. All that matters is the hard-leftist fides of a candidate — period!

Threaten a political opponent with assassination? Brag about killing his kids?

Tattoo the 3rd Panzer SS Division death’s-head insignia on your chest?

Promise to arrest a foreign head of state when he visits your city?

Boast about grabbing the “means of production.”

So what?

To the new left, this is just proof that their new candidates and voters “mean business.” They cannot be shamed — not even by mocking Charlie Kirk’s wound or hoping Trump is not so lucky a third time.

There is plenty of time for Republicans to digest these results, especially the strategy and dangerous nature of the new left, along with the mercurial moods of the swing voters — and the need to stick to the economy.

But the clock is ticking.

President Trump Sends Video Telling Republicans to “Get Tough” and Terminate the Filibuster

President Donald Trump is once again asking Republicans in the senate to terminate or suspend the filibuster, get tough, and reopen government.

Trump notes a point CTH has emphasized, Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema were the only thing that stopped the Democrats from terminating the filibuster in the last congress.  Both Manchin and Sinema are gone.  If Democrats retake the majority of the Senate, they will terminate the filibuster.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared the video on Twitter:

Supreme Court Issues Emergency Order Temporarily Blocking Full SNAP Payments

The Supreme Court has issued an emergency order blocking SNAP funding amid the ongoing Schumer Shutdown.

Here's more from the Associated Press:

The Supreme Court on Friday granted the Trump administration’s emergency appeal to temporarily block a court order to fully fund SNAP food aid payments amid the government shutdown, even though residents in some states already have received the funds.

A judge had given the Republican administration until Friday to make the payments through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. But the administration asked an appeals court to suspend any court orders requiring it to spend more money than is available in a contingency fund, and instead allow it to continue with planned partial SNAP payments for the month.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson issued the ruling, putting a temporary stay on an earlier order issued by a Rhode Island judge that required the Trump administration to disburse the full SNAP payment amount in the month of November.

SNAP funding ran out on November 1 after Democrats refused to reopen the government, despite a ruling from two judges on October 31 that ordered the Trump administration to use emergency contingency funds to pay SNAP benefits. The White House maintained it didn't have the legal authority to access those funds as they were for emergency purposes only. On November 3, the Trump administration said it would issue partial SNAP payments.

On November 4, President Trump said the best way to return to full SNAP funding for the states was for Democrats to vote to reopen the government and pass a clean Continuing Resolution, writing on Truth Social, "SNAP BENEFITS, which increased by Billions and Billions of Dollars (MANY FOLD!) during Crooked Joe Biden’s disastrous term in office (Due to the fact that they were haphazardly “handed” to anyone for the asking, as opposed to just those in need, which is the purpose of SNAP!), will be given only when the Radical Left Democrats open up government, which they can easily do, and not before! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT."

Democrats were angry with the administration's appeal to the Supreme Court. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) wrote on X, "Trump will do everything but feed families in need."

According to the Associated Press, Brown Jackson's order will remain in place for 48 hours after the appeals court rules to give the Trump administration "time to return to the Supreme Court if the appeals court refuses to step in."

Several states, including Wisconsin, Oregon, California, Kansas, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Hawaii, issued SNAP payments on Friday. Other states are still waiting for federal guidance.

Three Russiagate Grand Jury Subpoenas Issued, Brennan, Page and Strzok – Up to 30 Subpoenas Pending

Fox News is reporting that three grand jury subpoenas were issued today for John Brennan, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.

Brennan was the former CIA Director during Russiagate, who created the fraudulent Intelligence Community Assessment.  Strzok was the lead FBI counterintelligence agent in charge of Crossfire Hurricane, and Page was the former DOJ lawyer assigned to FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.  Strzok and Page worked both the Clinton email investigation and the Trump-Russia investigation.

Fox News also reports that up to 30 grand jury subpoenas are anticipated to be served on former government officials involved in “Spygate” and/or “Russiagate.” [SEE FOX REPORT HERE]

There has been a tremendous amount of external pressure being applied, and thankfully this year a significant amount of key internal pressure has joined that effort.  For the issues surrounding former CIA Director John Brennan, Fox News is citing a declassified “Annex A” of the Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) which highlights John Brennan including the Steele Dossier in the ICA at the request of former FBI Director James Comey.

Apparently, according to Fox News, the most significant citation against Brennan is an issue we outlined at CTH five years ago [SEE HERE] when we wrote about Annex-A and the implications therein.  President Trump was still in office in 2020 when Annex-A was released. The good news is that Annex-A found its way into evidence that a prosecutor can present to a grand jury.

The outcome of a grand jury subpoena means the primary Russiagate officials will have to lawyer up, spend money and go plead the 5th amendment, the most likely outcome.

From my frame of reference, the evidence against the targets clearly exists and does not need them to make any admissions or denials.  However, putting them on record in court individually, possibly compelled to testify or invoke the 5th, would perhaps narrow down their options if they were eventually indicted and face a criminal trial.

EXCLUSIVE: A federal grand jury has subpoenaed former CIA Director John Brennan, former FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, among others as part of the Justice Department’s investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia probe, Fox News Digital has learned.

Sources told Fox News Digital Brennan; Strzok, the FBI’s former deputy assistant director of counterintelligence; and Page, a former FBI lawyer, were served with federal subpoenas on Friday.

Law enforcement sources told Fox News Digital that up to 30 subpoenas will be issued in the coming days relating to the investigation.

The grand jury is out of the Southern District of Florida. U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida Jason Reding QuiΓ±ones is supervising the probe. Fox News Digital first reported this summer that Brennan was under criminal investigation.

[…] As for the criminal investigation into Brennan, CIA Director John Ratcliffe referred evidence of wrongdoing by Brennan to FBI Director Kash Patel for potential prosecution, DOJ sources told Fox News Digital.

[…] But back in June 2020, Ratcliffe, while serving as director of national intelligence, declassified a footnote of the 2017 ICA, which revealed that the reporting of Trump dossier author Christopher Steele had only “limited corroboration” regarding whether then-President-elect Trump “knowingly worked with Russian officials to bolster his chances of beating” Hillary Clinton and other claims.

[…] The footnote, also known as “Annex A” of the 2017 ICA, exclusively obtained by Fox News Digital in June 2020, spanned less than two pages and detailed reporting by Steele, the former British spy who authored the unverified anti-Trump dossier — a document that helped serve as the basis for controversial Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants obtained against former Trump campaign aide Carter Page. (read more)

I also find it interesting they begin with “Russiagate”, and I wonder if they will find the “Spygate” that preceded it {GO DEEP}.

Then again, I am thankful for the change and recognize Spygate might just be a little to uncomfy for those who seek to retain continuity of government.

'Peace Studies’ Professor Allegedly Threatened Top Trump Official Who Was Forced Into Military Housing

RedState

A Virginia woman is in a whole lot of trouble with the law after she allegedly harassed the White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor, Stephen Miller, and his family.

The woman reportedly distributed flyers in their neighborhood that labeled him a "Nazi," causing the Millers to move into military housing for protection.

But wait, you haven't heard the best part. It turns out this woman, Barbara Wien, is a retired university professor of peace studies. Yes, you read that correctly.

According to court documents, Wien allegedly posted fliers in Miller's neighborhood that included not only his address, but also harmful accusations like the one I shared above.

The report, originally reported by The New York Times, read:

In addition to the address, the flier accused Miller of being "wanted for crimes against humanity" and included the slogan, "No Nazis in NOVA," an acronym for Northern Virginia.

The adviser's wife, Katie Miller, who worked in the first President Donald Trump White House, said in the affidavit that Wein allegedly made a threatening gesture towards her. It happened to be one day after Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk was killed by an assassin's bullet on the Utah Valley University campus in front of thousands of college kids.

The report noted:

"Mrs. Miller interpreted this gesture to mean, 'I'm watching you,' and perceived it as a threatening act intended to intimidate or harass her," the affidavit said. "Based on the timing, context, and manner of the gesture, the action is being treated as a potential act of intimidation in furtherance of the conduct under investigation."

The Times report went on:

The affidavit also notes that police in Fairfax County acquired a text message that Wien sent to a WhatsApp group in April, where she referred to Miller as "the evil fascist behind family separations and deportation policies," according to the Times. She vowed to "make [Miller's] life hell" by organizing a "Showing Up For Racial Justice (SURJ) chapter.

"His wife sits their smugly swilling wine on their patio, while her husband orders the arrest of more and more of our Muslim, Arab American, and Hispanic brothers and sisters," Wien wrote, according to the affidavit. "My Showing Up For Racial Justice (SURJ) chapter in N. Virginia intends to make his life hell. We have set up a carefully vetted Signal group."

Charges have yet to be filed against Wein, but police are investigating the situation to find out whether the professor could be charged with a Commonwealth of Virginia misdemeanor of providing information "with the intent to coerce, intimidate or harass another person," according to the Times.

It was only the latest in alleged threatening actions against one of the top Trump administration officials and his family, as my RedState colleague Streiff reported in his piece, "Threats of Violence Drive Senior Trump Officials Into Housing on Military Bases."

His report detailed the campaign used against Miller and his family by his neighbors, writing:

For weeks before Kirk's death, activists had been protesting the Millers' presence in north Arlington, Virginia. Someone had put up wanted posters in their neighborhood with their home address, denouncing Stephen as a Nazi who had committed "crimes against humanity." A group called Arlington Neighbors United for Humanity warned in an Instagram post: "Your efforts to dismantle our democracy and destroy our social safety net will not be tolerated here." The local protest became a backdrop to the Trump administration's response to Kirk's killing. When Miller, the architect of that response who is known for his inflammatory political rhetoric, announced a legal crackdown on liberal groups, he singled out the tactics that had victimized his family—what he called "organized campaigns of dehumanization, vilification, posting peoples' addresses."

Stephen Miller ended up putting his home in Arlington up for sale on October 16 after radical activists wrote messages in chalk in front of his home, things like "Stephen Miller is destroying democracy," and "no white nationalism." He and his family have since moved into quarters on a military base for safety reasons, as RedState reported.

Miller's move has been followed by other top Trump officials moving out of their Virginia homes into military housing in order to avoid threats from these lunatics.

Dems Block Bill to Pay Fed. Workers, Military—but Check Out Thune's Intriguing Move Set for Later Today

RedState

Earlier on Friday, Senate Democrats voted down a motion to invoke cloture on a piece of legislation that was introduced by Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI), which would have paid federal workers and members of the military as the Schumer Shutdown slouches on through its 37th day. The motion fell by a tally of 53-43, with three Dems crossing the aisle to vote aye in a losing bid to invoke cloture and call it up for a final vote on the measure:

Those bipartisan votes came from Sens. Ben Ray LujΓ‘n (NM), Jon Ossoff, and Raphael Warnock (the latter two of GA).

Indeed, as we wrote earlier, there seemed on Friday morning to be a "thaw" in the Congressional Cold War in the air.

We've seen a little of everything today, with Sen. Chuck Schumer (NY) offering a deal — which Republicans were quick to reject — that would reopen the government and guarantee an extension of Obamacare subsidies for a year. One of the Republicans who roundly ridiculed that deal was Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA), and he had two bills to offer of his own; these would withhold the paychecks of Congress members and senators during the Schumer Shutdown, as my colleague Katie Jerkovich wrote.

What happens next? On the Senate voting to reopen the government, Punchbowl News' Samantha Handler wrote that here's what came straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak, from Senate Majority Leader John Thune (SD), via the reporter's X account:

THUNE says it “remains to be seen” if something comes together for the Senate to vote on tomorrow.

Says “fingers crossed” on whether there’s any update on minibus negotiations.

Sen. Thune has now adjourned the upper chamber until tomorrow. But check out what Thune has in store for Democrats on Saturday, according to HuffPost writer Igor Bobic:

In case you can't see the post, Bobic wrote, "Thune just adjourned the Senate till tomorrow, with no votes scheduled. He placed on the calendar a bill to rescind unused COVID funding."

Now, that is a surprise, right? To call the concept of the government clawing back otherwise wasted COVID funds from states intriguing is an understatement. Let's see where the Republican caucus and Thune are going with this move. It could be fun, readers. As this is a developing story, RedState will provide updates as warranted.

UPDATE [9:33 PM Eastern]: This is just too wonderful to leave out, readers — a brief clip of Leader Thune making it official. Let the Democrats' ongoing kabuki theater continue to rage into the weekend:
