The West Conquers Itself

“Divide and rule” tactics are as old as human conflict.  Instead of building consensus among the members of a tribe or nation, rulers exacerbate grievances that exist between social groups.  By doing so effectively, a military or political leader with only minority support can maintain control over a much larger group of people who refuse to work together.

Julius Caesar used this strategy to conquer Gaul.  The Ottoman Empire ruled over a great number of tribes using the same technique.  The British Empire controlled the Indian subcontinent in much the same way.  Turning potential enemies against one another enables an otherwise insufficient force to seize and preserve power.

Modern Western politics is an endless “divide and rule” operation.  Rarely do political leaders speak in terms that will unite strong majorities of their peoples.  Even more rarely do they speak of their nations as families or articulate ways for everyone to get along.  Instead, they divide society into groups of “oppressors” and “victims” and explain to anyone suffering why it’s someone else’s fault.

In parliamentary systems across Europe, there are so many political parties that national leaders rarely have majority support.  Floating political alliances often produce legislative results that the public could never have predicted.  For many years, I have regularly asked European friends and associates whether they view their national identity as more important than their European Union identity.  I’ve asked them point-blank, “Are you willing to give up national sovereignty for a single, continental government?”  Every single time — regardless of how pro-E.U. the person is — the answer is the same: “My nation comes first.”

Regardless of those expressed personal feelings, the European Union barrels ahead toward a single super-state.  What started out as a post-war trading bloc exercising few real powers has grown into a continental government with its own currency, president, debt, and growing budgets.  If the Eurocrats can successfully use the Russia-Ukraine War to scare member-states into action, there will soon be a single European military force.  WWI ended several historic empires on the continent.  WWII ended German dreams of a pan-European empire.  Eighty years later, a single European empire looks all but certain.

How did that happen?  Well, it certainly didn’t come from a Europe-wide referendum in which the half a billion citizens were asked whether they would agree to dissolve national borders and elect Ursula von der Leyen as president.  It came from steady incrementalism over many decades, during which local divisions were used to the political advantage of one overarching European government.  Don’t like your national government or local representatives?  Put your faith in the European Union, and all your problems will disappear.

There’s a reason the European Commission spends so much money on “democracy” movements within the borders of member-states: It has a vested interest in riling up the locals and diluting anti-E.U. sentiment.  These days, European Union officials tell the continent’s inhabitants that to be “anti-E.U.” is to be “pro-Putin.”  Europeans who prefer national sovereignty are dismissed as “dangerous nationalists” who spread “Russian disinformation.”  It’s a cynical yet effective way to build a European empire.

In the United States, two major political parties generally vie for power.  This means that a majority of citizens usually supports the elected president.  It does not mean, however, that the “divide and rule” dynamic is any less pervasive.  When discussing current events in the United States, corporate news talking heads are stuck on endless repeat: racismwhite supremacyChristian nationalismIslamophobiahomophobiatransphobiafascism, and hate.  Everything that news corporations publish is meant to turn Americans against one another.

Why would international corporations spend so much time working to divide Americans?  Because if American citizens are busy calling one another “racists” and “bigots,” then they’re not paying attention to how the federal bureaucracy is spending trillions of dollars in taxes.  We watch Republican and Democrat members of Congress call one another vile names leading up to an election, and then we watch those same politicians laughing with one another once they’ve been handed another term in office.

Republican and Democrat senators don’t despise one another.  They despise the American taxpayer who might object to whatever new spending boondoggle they have planned.  If you can keep Americans at one another’s throats, then nobody notices how many wars are being funded; how many corporate donors are being rewarded; or how much wealth is being transferred from middle-class households to “non-governmental” organizations, family foundations, foreign countries, and other profit-chasing special interests.

As for the vast federal bureaucracy that acts as a permanent government in the United States, it benefits when Americans are too busy yelling at each other to notice what its members are doing.  The CIA, FBI, IRS, and EPA, and the hundreds of other agencies, departments, and governmental bodies that enforce their will upon ordinary Americans, prefer for voters to waste all their energies screaming about pronouns and historic grievances.  While the politicians divide voters by relative “victimhood,” the permanent bureaucratic government rules over the people with little opposition.  While the politicians speak about “democracy,” America’s unelected bureaucratic empire grows.

For several decades now, European and American officials have used mass illegal immigration as the primary engine for their “divide and rule” operations.  The politicians justify their open border policies as humanitarian efforts to assist foreigners escaping oppression.  They even insist that Western nations are responsible for those claiming “asylum” by blaming “global warming” on Western capitalism and calling waves of unvetted migrants “climate refugees.”  All of that is just propaganda for the corporate news institutions to cycle on loop.

In reality, the endless arrival of foreign migrants supplies endless possibilities for manufactured social division.  How do you “divide and rule” a Christian nation?  Relocate millions of Muslims into the country and lecture the native population on “white supremacy” and “Christian nationalism.”  Celebrate “oppressed” cultures and condemn Western civilization as “imperialist,” “patriarchal,” and “racist.”  Accuse all those who love their country’s history of being “hateful bigots.”  Redefine traditional values as forms of “hate” and then criminalize “hate.”  Mass illegal immigration has become Western governments’ preferred “divide and rule” currency.

All of this engineered division within Western societies does raise an important question, though: If there is nothing left to unite us, how will we ever defend ourselves from civilizations that wish us harm?  If Western citizens see their neighbors as enemies, how will they ever work together to fight back real enemies?  Or do Western governments plan on dividing us until there is nothing left and America and Europe can just be handed over to Islamic conquerors and Chinese communists?

If submission to foreign powers is not the goal, then Western leaders need to throw their “divide and rule” playbooks in the fire and find ways to unite Western citizens once again.  Western self-hatred has one outcome: Western immolation.  If we do not rediscover the ties that bind us, we will be scattered to the wind.  If we do not remember how to honor our ancestors and our cultural history, those who do cherish their history will one day conquer us.  The European Union can scream about a looming Russian invasion all it wants, but it will not matter if other civilizations are allowed to invade its member-states.

At some point, Western nations must stop manufacturing division.  If they don’t, they will perish, and it won’t much matter who is ruling then.

We All Saw This Coming for the Dems

It’s no longer a case of political analysis—it’s now a hostage situation a la Die Hard in Los Angeles, except no Christmas party. The Democratic Party base is insane. It’s niche, regional, illiberal, and loaded with crazies. The foot soldiers of the Obama coalition are now Republicans. We took that from them, and they’re not coping well. It’s now the old, crusty, ex-hippie, New Left clowns who hope to repeat ’68, but those days are dead. They will, however, threaten violence against those who stand in their way, which leads us to our current standoff.

The Schumer Shutdown is now 21 days old, and it hasn't done a thing to hurt President Trump’s popularity. Trump has become more popular since the shutdown. No one is blaming him for this mess like last time, either. Why? Well, what’s at stake is night and day. Democrats shut down the government to extort another $1.5 trillion for illegal alien health care and NPR funding. That was never going to last.

Now, the new talking point is about expiring Obamacare subsidies, which is an issue, Republicans know it, but the time that would’ve been spent resolving it got dashed because Democrats shut down the government. We’re the side that wanted a clean seven-week Continuing Resolution to give time to fix this and 12 other appropriation bills. Still, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) had to do this to appease their base, which is five times more likely to endorse or support political violence.

Last weekend, legions of the dead, aka the ex-hippies, wasted their Saturday at these "No Kings" protests, which were another absurd exercise, since Trump won the Electoral College, all seven swing states, and the popular vote. It’s why there was no serious anti-Electoral College psychobabble this time around—we owned the Democrats in all phases of the game.

What Trump is doing is nothing shocking. He laid out everything on the stump. What we saw last weekend was a bunch of deranged lunatics still sore after 2024.

It’s the "we only like the USA when we win" bunch. They should try what we do – not be insane and focus on winning elections.

But this shutdown, demanded by the Democrat base, didn’t ding Trump’s popularity, and now these pathetic "No Kings" rallies are already forgotten. The Left does not have the reach anymore. We all see their true colors, and it’s a hideous sight. All Democrats have are "anti-Trump" tantrums, with no agenda, message, or leaders to rally around.

What a mess, but one that I’m not willing to clean up for obvious reasons. I want Democrats to remain in the wilderness, which now goes beyond political interest, but also self-preservation. These people are now shooting people and attacking federal facilities.

Don’t Blame ICE For Enforcing The Law. Blame Democrats For Breaking It

Don’t blame the enforcement of the law; blame the Democrat lawlessness that made enforcement necessary.

It's apparently “cruel” to enforce immigration law, at least that’s what the left has been telling us for months now.

“Trump’s cruel immigration machine is still tearing families apart,” Jordan Foster, Dylan Gee, and Dina Francesca Haynes wrote for MSNBC.

California Democrat Scott Peters said in June that ICE raids are “cruel and wasteful.” ICE agents, according to Peters, “took away four undocumented dishwashers and line cooks.”

“Instead of targeting real threats, this administration is carrying out a cruel agenda that will disrupt our economy, further erode trust in law enforcement, and sow chaos and fear,” Peters continued.

It’s the same narrative we hear time and time again, that enforcing immigration law is inherently “cruel” — not because the laws have changed, but simply because the laws are being enforced.

Gustavo Arellano — whose father was an illegal alien — wrote for the Los Angeles Times that “There’s no nice way to deport someone. But Trump’s ICE is hosting a cruelty Olympics.”

“The Trump presidency has amply proven he has no interest in skirting meanness and cruelty,” Arellano wrote. “This administration is never going to roll out the welcome mat for illegal immigrants. But the least they can do [is] deal with them as if … well, as if they are human.”

The National Immigration Law Center called ICE raids and arrests harmful.

“The only coherent policy goal of this administration when it comes to immigration is its relentless pursuit of cruelty — no matter what the cost and no matter what else is impacted. The strategy is clear: to cultivate so much suffering and fear, through real and threatened violence, that immigrants choose to abandon their communities and lives in the United States.”

But the “harm” and the “cruelty” these critics decry are nothing more than the enforcement of laws, laws that Democrats themselves ignored, which got us to this exact point.

Those who enter the country illegally are subject to removal. But Democrats spent years looking the other way entirely on all border and immigration laws, and in doing so sought to condition the American people to see enforcement of the law as “cruel.” Thus, when the law is finally applied, the left falls back on emotional blackmail.

Take for example the left’s narrative about “family separation.” Whether a person has a child or not doesn’t nullify the law that the individual violated. Every parent who enters illegally chooses to take that risk. And every parent who is deported can choose to bring his child with them. If parents choose to leave their children in America, then it’s their own personal choice to separate their family.

To give another example, consider the framing from The Chicago Tribune: “ICE tickets Chicago man with legal residency $130 for not having his papers on him: ‘It’s not fair … I’m a resident.’”

The purpose of such a headline is obvious: to provoke outrage. It did exactly that when writer Bryce Greene posted about the story on X: “Today I learned that ICE has this power. Welcome to the ‘show me your papers’ phase of American fascism.”

But the Chicago Tribune itself notes: “Under federal law, registered foreign nationals must carry proof of registration with them at all times. But prior to a second Trump administration, it was rarely enforced.”

In other words, the left is merely angry that the law is being enforced and is trying to manipulate the narrative to make enforcement of the law “fascist” when in reality, it’s just the text of the law.

And such enforcement is necessary because the Biden administration created this problem. For four years, Democrats allowed millions of illegal and otherwise inadmissible aliens to pour into the country. The Biden administration dismantled Trump-era protections to seal the border and stem the flow of illegal immigration and in doing so, made eventual mass deportations inevitable.

Now, when ICE enforces long-standing immigration law, the people who defended the border crisis and gave cover to the crisis are now calling enforcing the law “cruel.” But ICE isn’t the bad guy. The agency enforcing the laws Congress passed decades ago is not part of a cruelty “machine”; it is restoring law and order.

So when you see illegal aliens being deported, remember: Don’t blame the enforcement of the law; blame the Democrat lawlessness that made enforcement necessary.

The Left's New Lies About ICE Operational History

A moral principle is a deeply held belief that can influence or guide our behavior. Moral principles, to have any meaning, should be consistent; even immutable. If an act or a behavior is wrong, it is wrong regardless of the actor. Murdering an innocent person, for example, is wrong no matter who carries out the murder or what their motivation or mental illness may have been.

Politics isn't a field of endeavor that encourages people to develop strict moral principles - most especially for people on the left, who are all about the side; principals, not principles. Case in point: The Democrats, the activist left, and the legacy media's freak-outs over President Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration; the left is shouting their outrage about ICE raids and border closures, but when President Obama was likewise cracking down - crickets. In fact, now they are lying about the "unprecedented" actions of the Trump administration. Here are some specifics:

During which Trump administration did the following happen?

  • ICE has been targeting the home of immigrant children, mothers, and families in California, leading one critic to say the raids “go against our nation’s fundamental values of equality and justice for all.”
  • Another said, “How then could America say it’s OK to send parents of children away? What value system is that? I think it’s un-American.”
  • The American Immigration Council said that “ICE raids have left children without parents and feeling abandoned, separated nursing babies from their mothers, separated pregnant wives from their husbands, and compelled local communities and organizations to scramble to address child welfare crises in their wake.”
  • The Los Angeles Times reported that ICE detained two legal immigrant women who’d been led into the country under the Violence Against Women Act. One was arrested in her home after ICE showed up looking for people who no longer lived there.
  • ICE agents in Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, and Southern California forced their way into homes without a warrant to arrest people suspected of being in the country illegally. One mother said an agent threatened her “not to make him mad.”
  • One Chicagoan was threatened with deportation, despite being a U.S. citizen who happened to be born in Puerto Rico.
  • Northwestern University political science professor Jacqueline Stevens told one news outlet that “I think it’s pretty fair to say that there’s a low but persistent rate of people who are being held by ICE in violation of the law, who are U.S. citizens.”
  • The Marshall Project looked at more than 300,000 deportations and, despite administration claims that ICE was focusing on the “the worst of the worst,” it found that about 60% were immigrants with no criminal conviction or whose only crime was immigration-related. Fewer than 20% had potentially violent convictions, such as assault, DUI, or weapons offenses.

The answer, of course, is that all of the above-described incidents happened during the Obama administration. There were no mobs in the streets. There were no riots. There were no assassination attempts. There were no shouting, angry people holding up signs calling for the murder of a sitting President of the United States. Why? Perhaps because the right has a better grasp on what principles are, the right understands, because they have principles, that it's wrong to call for or attempt the assassination of a president.

On the other hand, in the recent "No Kings" stupidity, one could scarcely swing a cat by the tail without hitting an imbecile waving a sign that called for President Trump's removal by force.

Why does this matter? Actually, these incidents, these enforcement of federal laws and immigration policies, are a good thing, no matter which administration carried them out. These incidents are examples of the executive branch of the federal government doing its job. Conversely, failures to carry out enforcement of immigration laws are a bad thing, regardless of whose fundament is occupying a chair behind the Resolute Desk.

President Trump is doing his job. ICE and DHS are doing their jobs. The Border Patrol and the US Marshals are doing their jobs. And left, who were largely silent when the Obama administration was deporting illegal aliens, are screaming bloody murder.

Why? Principals, not principles.

It’s all about the side. It's all about whether the president or anyone working for him has (or is perceived to have) an "R" or a "D" behind his name. And now, in the case of President Donald John Trump, the incoherent screeching from the left over the president's enforcing the law seems to be magnified tenfold, as the American left is consumed by Trump Derangement Syndrome.

This isn't a new thing, mind you; we might remember during the administration of Bush the Younger, George W. Bush was reviled by the left as well. Bush Derangement Syndrome was a thing, too. But it seems to be worse now. President Trump, I think, enflames the left for a couple of reasons: He is unapologetic, and he is effective. The left can't stand for that.

But if another Democrat president were to keep President Trump's immigration crackdown going? It's a safe bet that the riots would dissipate, that the cries for murdering ICE and DHS officers would fade away, and that the uproar over the repatriation of illegal aliens would drop to the level it was during the Obama administration - nearly non-existent.

Principals, not principles; that’s the name of this game.

Beyond Ridiculous – EU Automakers Purchasing Carbon Credits from Chinese EV Makers to Avoid EU Climate Change Fines

Put this in the ‘beyond ridiculous’ file that explains the current situation of a contracting European economy; specifically, in the auto sector.

Europe has fines associated with the production of gasoline powered engines if the auto company doesn’t hit targets for sales of electric vehicles.  The fines triggered this year.  In order to avoid paying the European fines the auto makers are forming alliances with Chinese EV makers to purchase carbon credit offsets.

In essence, EU car companies buy Chinese car company carbon credits, to avoid the EU fines.  The Chinese car companies can then use the carbon credit revenue to subsidize lower priced Chinese EVs to the European car market, thereby undercutting the European EV car companies.  BRILLIANT!

MILAN, Oct 21 (Reuters) – Automakers have formed alliances to help them avoid hefty European Union fines on carbon emissions by purchasing credits from electric vehicle companies. Several legacy automakers face potential fines as the transition to EVs in Europe has proved slower than expected in recent years.

EU fines – which automakers have said could reach up to 15 billion euros ($17.5 billion) – were initially envisaged on 2025 carbon emission levels. In March, however, the European Commission yielded to pressure from automakers and allowed compliance based on their average emissions over 2025-2027. (read more)

Nissan is purchasing carbon credits from China’s BYD (Build Your Dream). South Korea is purchasing from Xping. Mercedes and Volvo are purchasing carbon credits from Chinese automaker Geely.

BYD and Geely are selling super cheap EVs into the entire EU car market.  lol πŸ˜‚ You can’t make this stuff up.

The EU economic offset plan?  Let’s go to war with Russia.

Brilliant!

‘BOLO’: Antifa Ups Ante Against Journalists, Influencers Who Dare to Report on Portland Violence

RedState

Antifa has created an enemies list of journalists, conservative influencers, and activists who have dared to report on their ongoing actions in Portland, Oregon, following months of anti-ICE protests.

In a post on X on Tuesday, investigative reporter Katie Daviscourt posted several pictures of a giant flyer warning those in Antifa ranks about reporters like Daviscourt and activists such as Chelly Bouferrache (Hunnybadgermom), who have destroyed the left's narrative about those peaceful protests in Oregon.

The poster title read: "ICE protests in Portland. Far-Right 'Content Creators' BOLO."

The poster shows pictures of each of the reporters, their X handles, and whether or not they participated in the recent Antifa Round Table at the White House with President Donald Trump.

"JUST IN — Antifa has created a 'hit list' of journalists, live streamers, and conservative activists who are posted on flyers outside the Portland ICE facility," Daviscourt wrote.

"The flyers urge their protester comrades to 'be on the lookout' for the individuals mentioned," she added. "Those featured on the flyers include journalists who attended the Antifa roundtable at the White House, such as myself, @camhigby, @nicksortor, @nickshirleyy, and @choeshow.

"As well as other independent journalists, streamers, and activists including @hunnybadgermom, @angertab, @OreoExpress, @RealBlackRebel_, @RightSideR3bel, and others," Daviscourt continued.

On one side of the giant poster, it read: "Do Not Take The Bait," telling those to watch for these reporters who are looking "to create content to fit their narrative."

As my RedState colleague Jennifer Oliver O'Connell reported, the White House recently held a "Roundtable on Antifa" and later designated the left-wing group a foreign terrorist organization.

Daviscourt was one of the many journalists who were there to give an eyewitness account of what's been happening in Portland, and shared how she and others have been viciously attacked while just doing their job.

O'Connell wrote:

The roundtable of journalists included Andy Ngo, who has extensively covered Antifa in Seattle, Oregon, and around the world. The Blaze journalist and Townhall alum Julio Rosas; Human Events editor Jack Posobiec; independent journalist Nick Sortor, who was arrested by Portland Police for defending himself against an Antifa attack; The Post Millennial's Katie Daviscourt, who was assaulted by Antifa in Portland; TPUSA's Savannah Hernandez; Today in America journalist Cam Higby; Discovery Institute Senior Journalism Fellow Jonathan Choe; YouTube influencer James Klug; and, independent videographer Nick Shirley.

Chelly Bouferrache aka HoneyBadger Mom, was oddly absent from the roundtable. Bouferrache has covered Antifa in Portland since 2017, and has borne the physical, mental, and legal brunt of their attacks in order to expose this organization and the destruction it has wrought.

During the event, Daviscourt didn't hold back and told Trump, "I am sitting here with a blackeye and a concussion after violently being hit in the face with a metal pole while reporting outside the ICE facility."

These journalists have been attacked. And putting out an enemy list like these flyers is dangerous for them. Period.

DNI Tulsi Gabbard Focused on Goals of “Interagency Weaponization Working Group”

President Trump’s January Executive Order says in part, “The Director of National Intelligence, in consultation with the heads of the appropriate departments and agencies within the Intelligence Community, shall take all appropriate action to review the activities of the Intelligence Community over the last 4 years and identify any instances where the Intelligence Community’s conduct appears to have been contrary to the purposes and policies of this order, and prepare a report to be submitted to the President, through the Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and the National Security Advisor, with recommendations for appropriate remedial actions to be taken to fulfill the purposes and policies of this order.”  {source}

DNI Tulsi Gabbard has been working on this for nine months.

Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, heads the Interagency Weaponization Working Group (IWWG) which has been meeting twice a month to coordinate efforts at identifying, targeting and removing people and systems who have abused their authority and weaponized government institutions.  The IWWG consists of key people from DNI, DOJ, FBI, Dept of War, IRS, FCC and DHS.

As the Gabbard group begins taking action against the internal silo administrators and corrupt actors, the media are beginning to focus on the group.  As a counterattack they construct a narrative that the IWWG is President Trump’s personal targeting team.

(REUTERS) – A group of dozens of officials from across the federal government, including U.S. intelligence officers, has been helping to steer President Donald Trump’s drive for retribution against his perceived enemies, according to government records and a source familiar with the effort.

The Interagency Weaponization Working Group, which has been meeting since at least May, has drawn officials from the White House, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Central Intelligence Agency, the Justice and Defense Departments, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Homeland Security, the Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Communications Commission, among other agencies, two of the documents show.

[…] Several U.S. officials confirmed the existence of the Interagency Weaponization Working Group to Reuters in response to the questions and said the group’s purpose was to carry out Trump’s executive order.

“None of this reporting is new,” said a White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity.

ODNI spokeswoman Olivia Coleman said, “Americans deserve a government committed to deweaponizing, depoliticizing and ensuring that power is never again turned against the people it’s meant to serve.”

The existence of the interagency group indicates the administration’s push to deploy government power against Trump’s perceived foes is broader and more systematic than previously reported. Interagency working groups in government typically forge administration policies, share information and agree on joint actions. (read more)
