How the Fed could bring about the End Times

Peter Turchin’s structural-demographic theory posits that political instability is the inevitable result of two converging, long-term historical forces: popular immiseration (the decline in living standards for the majority) and elite overproduction (an excess supply of elite aspirants competing for finite positions of power and status).  Central to this theory is the “wealth pump” — a set of institutional arrangements that systematically transfers economic value from commoners to elites.  Turchin dates the start of the current American crisis cycle to the late 1970s.  Today, the Federal Reserve’s policies of persistently low interest rates and massive asset purchases since 2008 have served as a powerful, unintentional accelerator, effectively exerting dangerously high pressure on the wealth pump.

The Federal Reserve, through its modern monetary policy, dramatically intensifies the two core variables that define Turchin’s structural recipe for discord:

1. Accelerating Elite Overproduction through Asset Inflation

Elite overproduction describes the condition where the number of individuals with the credentials and resources to be considered “elite” far exceeds the number of actual high-status positions available.  This phenomenon is amplified by the Fed’s monetary stance:

  • Inflating the Rank of Wealth Elites: The single greatest effect of sustained low interest rates and quantitative easing (Q.E.) is the inflation of asset prices — stocks, bonds, and real estate.  Since the top 10% of households own the overwhelming majority of these financial assets, this policy acts as a direct wealth transfer, generating rapid, outsized capital gains for the already rich.  This not only makes the wealthy dramatically richer, but also functionally multiplies the number of “wealth elites” who cross the net worth threshold for elite status.  (For example, the number of American households with net worth over $10 million has exploded since 1980.)
  • Intensifying Intra-Elite Rivalry: As the overall pool of wealth expands, the competition for the fixed number of top political, bureaucratic, and cultural positions intensifies.  This generates the class of “counter-elites” — the frustrated, highly credentialed aspirants who, denied the status they feel entitled to, become radicalized and seek to overthrow the established order.  By pouring liquidity into the financial sector, the Fed supercharges the economic engine that produces these high-powered losers, fueling the very political polarization and factionalism that Turchin predicts will lead to institutional gridlock and political violence.

2. Deepening Popular Immiseration through Debt and Cost

Popular immiseration is the flip side of the wealth pump, marked by stagnating real wages, rising debt, and the inability of the general population to secure a stable future.  The Fed’s policy choices act directly to depress the purchasing power and stability of the commoners:

  • The Debt-Fueled Cost of Aspirations: The path to middle-class or elite status in modern America is paved with a college degree, but low-rate monetary policy has created an environment of cheap, readily available credit that has been channeled into tuition.  This has fueled the explosion of student loan debt, which now acts as a massive financial anchor on a generation of workers.  Statistical analysis shows that soaring student debt is a significant factor exacerbating income inequality.  The commoner who borrows to pursue a degree is left with the immiserated status of being highly indebted, underemployed, and incapable of achieving the stability his education promised.
  • Housing and Basic Security Costs: Low interest rates make mortgages cheaper but also make housing a more attractive investment and speculative asset for large institutions and the wealthy.  This demand drives up home prices faster than wages, making homeownership — the quintessential marker of middle-class security — increasingly unattainable for the non-elite.  The Fed’s attempts to stimulate the economy thus end up inflating the costs of basic stability (housing and education), forcing the majority to bear a heavier financial burden even as their real wages remain flat.

In essence, the Federal Reserve’s reliance on monetary tools to manage the economy has introduced an enormous structural bias into the system.  Though intended to prevent deflation and financial collapse, the side-effect has been the relentless unequal distribution of economic benefits, making the rich richer and the poor and aspiring middle class poorer in relative and often absolute terms.

In Turchin’s model, a mass of frustrated, credentialed elites vying for power coupled with an economically precarious and disaffected populace is the necessary and sufficient condition for a major crisis.  The Fed’s policy of “cheap money” does not initiate the long-term cycle, but it acts as a turbocharger on the historical timeline, violently accelerating the engine of wealth inequality and creating an increasingly combustible social structure.  The unintended consequence of a central bank seeking stability through financial engineering may, in the context of Turchin’s structural theory, be the deepening of the foundations of political and social disintegration.

Trump’s Triumph, the Establishment’s Shame

Nobody could have done this in Gaza but President Donald J. Trump. And he fixed not just Gaza but the entire Middle East. Look at what has happened here. After almost 80 years of this bloodbath, Donald Trump came along, fixed it, and made it look easy. All the geniuses, all the smart guys, all the best in class from the Georgetown School of Foreign Service couldn’t make that happen. Obama couldn’t do it. Biden couldn’t do it. Jimmy Carter couldn’t do it. None of them could do it. The experts’ only expertise was failure.

It took Donald Trump to fix the Middle East, and our ruling class will never forgive him for it.

Here’s a message to the garbage foreign policy establishment whose unbroken track record of failure has resulted in bloodshed and humiliation for decades: Seethe.

Seethe, because the guy you alleged betters of ours think is an idiot, who was elected at least twice by people you think are idiots, did what you couldn’t do. He brought peace to the Middle East, and he did it exactly how you dummies told us it couldn’t be done. Not with silly “peace processes.” Not with the appeasement of seventh-century savages. Not with twisting Israel’s arms to put itself at risk of genocide. He wasn’t a flaccid mediator – he was an ass kicker. He combined ruthless military force with hard-nosed negotiations, and instead of rolling over for a bunch of glorified carpet traders, he made them swallow his terms to where they gagged but still submitted.

That’s no surprise. He had useful experience as opposed to useless credentials. President Trump was a New York real estate developer, and so were his helpers, who the smart set also think are idiots, like Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff. They actually understand how to negotiate. It’s not a ritual or exercise that you learn in a seminar in some grad school. You don’t go into a negotiation trying to make everybody happy like our sissy diplomats used to do; you go into a negotiation to win it. Team Trump did it every day for decades in business in one of the most cutthroat environments in America, Big Apple land dealing. They succeeded there, and they succeeded in the Levant.

This is yet another huge humiliation for our worthless ruling class. Everything they touch has turned to Schiff. The people who oversee most of the institutions in our society are not there because they’re smarter or because they’re exceptional, but because they’re credentialed and networked with their buddies from the University of College. That, plus their spineless willingness to submit to whatever idiotic fashion is in vogue at the moment, from BLM to DEI to every other kind of woke crap, makes them utter patsies when they’re dealing with serious people. And the Arabs, including the Palestinians, are serious people. They really mean it when they tell you they’re going to kill you. But our ruling class doesn’t understand that. They see real life as an academic exercise, while everybody else sees it as a knife fight. Most of them have never thrown a punch in the schoolyard. They’re sissies, they’re weak, and they’re stupid.

Oh, they’re so stupid.

But not guys like Donald Trump and certainly not guys like the ones who elected him again and again and again. No, guys like that are also serious people. They’ve had tough lives. They’ve done hard things. They haven’t had the chance to glide since they got admitted into Harvard – nobody flunks out of Harvard, and the hardest day is the day you get admitted. Our trash elite has lived on Easy Mode for far too long. Our ruling class has not experienced accountability in decades. The poobahs find it morally offensive. How dare they be held accountable to the peasants they’re supposed to be ruling over? Look at the ridiculous Jim Comey being morally offended that somebody might deal with his actual perjury the way he made people deal with the “perjury” he framed them for. Same with Leticia James, another crook with an IQ on par with her shoe size—18 Large.

This triumph for Donald Trump once again highlights just how unaccomplished most of the people who are in society’s positions of authority are. We have the worst ruling class since the French Revolution. It’s incredible how dumb the people who think they’re smarter than we are are. And that’s why they’re so angry – because they know it. Oh, they put on a brave front about how they are the best and brightest, but they know. They all have that nagging feeling inside that they’re not the geniuses they present themselves as, that they’re not achievers, that they’re impostors. And they are. They’re posing as competent people.

That’s why it gnaws at them to see Trump win. How many Democrats have congratulated Donald Trump on this unvarnished victory? Oh, and it was a victory – the Democrats’ friends in Hamas and among the terrorist fellow travelers are devastated by the utter humiliation Donald Trump has imposed on their heroes. This wasn’t a victory for Hamas. It was a total and complete defeat, an utter surrender. Sure, Trump is a smart enough negotiator not to rub it in, but he doesn’t have to. Everybody knows. The Democrats know, and it infuriates them. The Nobel Committee knows, and the fjord jockeys on it are infuriated – they’ll show him by awarding their stupid prize to a female freedom fighter from the Third World.

There’s nothing wrong with the woman whom they honored, but let’s face it. Unsuccessfully agitating against a communist dictator in South America is not 1/1000th as momentous as solving the Middle East crisis. It’s been on our television every day of our lives. I remember watching this crap unfold in the '70s; I was a little kid trying to watch Mark Spitz in the 1972 Olympics when the scumbag Palestinians decided to go on a televised murder spree. Thanks to Trump, that’s over. The Abraham Accords are wrapping up Arab and other Muslim countries with both America and Israel. Iran has been neutered thanks to Donald Trump, and the Houthis have returned to their regularly scheduled molesting of the local livestock.

Donald Trump did it all. He’s not going to get their approval, but he doesn’t need it. He’s won. Barack Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize is no award. It’s a badge of shame. Everybody knows it means nothing. Everybody knows he means nothing. He failed to achieve peace in the Middle East. His Iran plan failed. He’s nothing. And Joe Biden, that eggplant, is less than nothing. But Trump is a legend. And those of us who support him are legends, too.

They keep talking about the adults in the room, but those establishment adults in the room are always wearing adult diapers because the establishment adults keep soiling themselves. If you want success, don’t go to some liberal elitist. Go find yourself a conservative populist. We get it done. And the people who presume to look down on us? When they look down, all they’ll see is us celebrating our latest success.

Let them seethe.

Shut Down! Do You Care?

The government is "shut down."

Media call this a "crisis."

A "crisis (with) no deal in sight," says Fox News.

Reuters says it's a "key risk to US stability."

But when I look around, I see business as usual -- families raise children, workers work, people play music ...

The media act like government is the most important part of life. It isn't. Fortunately, most of life, and the best of life, happens outside government.

Yes, we need government. Limited government. Enough to keep us safe.

But most of life doesn't depend on what goes through D.C.

Most of life thrives without government, often, despite government.

During shutdowns, government tells "nonessential" workers not to come to work. But if they're nonessential, why do we employ them?

The shutdown is certainly a problem for the 1.4 million federal employees currently working without pay or furloughed. But they will likely get paid once government's back in business. That's what happened before.

The media claim flights are delayed because of Air Traffic Control staffing shortages. CNN writes, "Delays spread to major airports across the country, as the government shutdown impacts travelers."

But many of these delays happen because government runs Air Traffic Control, and government management isn't good.

In other places (airports in Canada, the U.K., Germany, Australia), Air Traffic Control is privately run. A Government Accountability Office report found that private systems lead to fewer delays.

Even security screenings work better when they're private. At San Francisco's airport, security lines move faster, and passengers told me, "The screeners are nicer!"

They're nicer and faster because in San Francisco (also Kansas City and some smaller airports), private companies handle security. The TSA even acknowledges that private screeners are better at finding contraband.

So why does government do these things?

It shouldn't.

Private operators are better because they must compete. Competition makes everybody sharper. Succeed, or you get fired.

But government never fires itself. It's why its incompetent government workers stay incompetent.

It's also why the Pentagon flunks audits and uses outdated computers.

Shutdowns are supposed to show how vital government is. Instead, they show the opposite.

Now, some farmers complain that they're not getting government support checks. But why should farmers get taxpayer funding in the first place?

Politicians said it was needed to "save family farms," but it doesn't. It mostly subsidizes big agribusiness.

Some claim America needs government aid to "guarantee the food supply." But we don't. Fruit and vegetable growers get nothing from Washington. There's no shortage of tomatoes, peaches or green beans ...

We should take a chainsaw to much of government.

Consider government inspections of food. We're told to be glad USDA inspectors are considered "essential" and will stay on the job to keep us safe.

But meat is safe not because of bureaucratically mandated inspections but mostly because of competition.

Food sellers have a reputation to uphold. If their food poisons us, people won't buy from them.

As a result, today's food producers take more safety measures than government requires. One told me they employ a thousand more safety inspectors than the government demands.

Stories like that rarely get coverage.

Politicians, gathered in D.C., are easy to report on. Journalists lazily obsess about them because they're easy to interview. It's impossible to cover millions of individuals pursuing our own interests.

But it's we who make America work. Not bureaucrats bickering in D.C.

Media pundits will continue to act as if shutdowns are a crisis, but they're not.

We've "survived" shutdowns before, and we'll "survive" this one.

Call a Doctor! Cheryl Hines Smacks Down Whoopi Goldberg for Questioning RFK Jr.’s HHS Qualifications

ABC
Warren Squire  | October 15, 2025  |  twitchy

Actress Cheryl Hines went on ABC’s The View on Tuesday. The conversation eventually turned to her husband, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. That gave host Whoopi Goldberg a chance to highlight her blinding ignorance.

Hines smacked down Goldberg's ill-informed attack on her husband's job qualifications. (WATCH)

One has to ask if Goldberg does any background prep on the show’s subjects and guests.

Being HHS Secretary has never required the person filling that role to be a doctor or have a medical background.

That’s a good point.

Despite what you’ve heard, science isn’t settled. New knowledge can change how we understand how drugs interact with our bodies, as is the case with the recent Tylenol revelations.

That’s another great point that shines a light on Goldberg’s hypocrisy.

Here she is praising Jill Biden for being a great medical doctor when she actually has a doctorate in education. (WATCH)

That’s why she’s undefeated when it comes to amazing feats of ignorance. Knowledge is Goldberg's Kryptonite.

Polish donor gifts Pope Leo a purebred Arabian horse

A Polish man has donated a purebred Arabian horse to Pope Leo XIV ahead of the weekly General Audience, saying he was inspired by the photo of the Augustinian Pope on horseback in Peru.

Other donors have already gifted the Pope a white motorcycle and an electric car. Now, Pope Leo XIV has received a white horse as a gift.

Proton, a purebred Arabian, was given to the Pope on Wednesday by Andrzej Michalski, owner and founder of the Michalski Stud Farm, in Kołobrzeg-Budzistowo, Poland.

An idea inspired by a photo from Peru

“When I saw the photos of the future Pope on horseback in Peru, the idea came to me that I wanted to give him a beautiful Arabian horse—one that would be worthy of him, and white, because white naturally corresponds to the Pope’s white cassock,” Mr. Michalski told Vatican News.

He explained that this gesture was his way of expressing gratitude and responding to the Pope’s appeal to strengthen love through concrete actions.

Proton’s father came from the United States, and his mother was bought from a princess in Jordan. The horse was born in Janów Podlaski, and Mr. Michalski purchased him as a young colt and raised him at his own stud farm.

“The horse moves beautifully and is exceptionally handsome,” the breeder noted.

A joyful meeting

The gift was presented to the Pope just before Wednesday’s General Audience. “The Pope was very happy; we led the horse together. He was delighted, and we were overjoyed,” Mr. Michalski recounted.

During the meeting, a letter was also read in which the owner described the activities of his stud farm and asked for a blessing on the occasion of its upcoming 30th anniversary next year.

A gesture inspired by the Pope’s words

In his letter to the Holy Father, Mr. Michalski referred to the Pope’s most recent Apostolic Exhortation Dilexi te, quoting:

“Our love and our deepest convictions need to be continually cultivated, and we do so through our concrete actions. Remaining in the realm of ideas and theories, while failing to give them expression through frequent and practical acts of charity, will eventually cause even our most cherished hopes and aspirations to weaken and fade away.”

In his letter, Mr. Michalski wrote: “In fulfilling this appeal, I would like to ask that my gesture may contribute to the realization of the missions that Your Holiness undertakes for today’s world and for the Church, in keeping with your charism and responsibility.”

Horses, hippotherapy, and helping those in need

The Michalski Stud Farm is not only a place for horse breeding, training, and competitions—it also runs a center for hippotherapy, a form of therapy that uses the rhythmic movement of a horse to engage sensory, neuromotor, and cognitive systems.

“When I worked with people with disabilities, hippotherapy sessions were held at Andrzej Michalski’s riding center. This therapy is a real blessing, especially for children with physical disabilities,” said Anna Mieczkowska, Mayor of Kołobrzeg, who also came to the Vatican.

“Our center organizes major equestrian competitions and hippotherapy for people with disabilities; we hold sessions two or three times a week. We are now preparing to organize a small Polish championship next month — for children with disabilities riding wooden horses,” Mr. Michalski added.

Trump Roasts View Co-Host for Refusing to Honor Bet on Israeli Hostages

President Trump is back from a historic Middle East trip, where a ceasefire was reached between Israel and Hamas. The remaining hostages were released. It’s uncertain if this agreement will last, but everyone got what they wanted: an end to this war. Liberal Democrats got what they wanted but failed to credit the president, which was flat-out hilarious since the agreement signed was not Biden’s, but Trump’s. He pitched it at the end of September. Like leeches, you see ex-Biden people try to say their fingerprints are on this. Nope. It’s Trump’s deal—you lose again.

Also, the fact that some think Biden had the bandwidth to do what Trump did is laughable. Before his ouster in 2024, Biden claimed he, too, did things no one thought possible and could barely list five things, and the stuff he did reference was a bunch of nothing burgers. The only thing remarkable about Biden is that he was elected a bunch of times—that’s it. So, now that Trump has done the impossible, will View co-host Alyssa Farah wear a MAGA hat? So far, she has not done so despite saying she would if Trump got a deal done. She ate it. She made a wager, and now it's time for a margin call.

At the White House earlier today, the president raked her over the coals, calling her a phony and a joke.

He’s not wrong. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. She should be cooked over this, since it’s another instance where the Left thought they had some win upon them and Trump wrecked it.

Arkansas Dad Arrested for Killing Young Daughter's Alleged Rapist Is Now Running for Sheriff

By Mike Miller | October 14, 2025  |  RedState

While this news isn't exactly "feel-good" material, it does contain a fair amount of poetic justice. Then again, it reminds me of one of those "Dateline" episodes that contain several twists and turns along the way.

Aaron Spencer, an Arkansas father who was charged in the shooting death of his 14-year-old daughter’s alleged rapist in October 2024, is now running for sheriff of the same county in which he was arrested, as first reported by WDBJ7.

Spencer was taken into custody after a desperate search for his missing daughter — whom he found inside a vehicle with 67‑year‑old Michael Fosler.

According to the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office, deputies had been looking for the girl when they learned Spencer had already tracked down the pair. Law enforcement authorities said the encounter quickly turned violent, ending in Spencer fatally shooting Fosler.

According to court documents, Spencer was taken into custody at the scene and later preliminarily charged with second-degree murder and a firearm enhancement for the shooting death of Fosler, who died at the scene. Spencer is expected to appear in court in December for pretrial proceedings.

Meanwhile, Spencer, 37, announced in a Facebook post on Saturday his intentions to run for sheriff — and why:

Hello Lonoke, my name is Aaron Spencer. Many of you know my story. I'm the father who acted to protect his daughter when the system failed.

I refuse to stand by while others face these same failures. This campaign isn't about me.

It's about every parent, every neighbor, every family who deserves to feel safe in their homes and safe in their community. It's about restoring trust where neighbors know law enforcement is on their side and families know that they will not be left alone in a moment of need.

Every parent's nightmare, indeed.

Spencer remains out on bond as his case proceeds.

Now, the Same Old Story

Fosler was a registered sex offender facing multiple charges related to sexual crimes against a minor. Earlier in 2024, he was charged with numerous sexual offenses against the Spencer girl. He was out on bond at the time of the incident and had been served with a court order prohibiting contact with the girl. His charges included sexual assault, sexual indecency with a minor, internet stalking of a child, and possession of child pornography, totaling over 40 felony counts.

How many times have we read similar stories? And why was this known predator out on bond?

Here's more:

Records show that the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office initially treated the shooting as part of an active criminal investigation, though prosecutors have not yet disclosed whether they will pursue additional charges or modify the existing ones as the case proceeds.

Court filings indicate that Spencer’s defense team intends to argue that the shooting occurred during a highly emotional confrontation and that he acted in defense of his daughter.

If elected, Spencer would assume leadership of the same department that investigated and arrested him. The Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office has not commented on his candidacy or on how it might affect the ongoing case. The election for sheriff is scheduled to take place next year, with filing deadlines expected early in 2025.

Sheriff John Staley said a decision to file formal charges against Aaron Spencer will be made by the Lonoke County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, according to Law & Crime.
