Democrats Storm the Heights of Illogic

It wasn't long ago when the party anxious to avoid piling on more debt (Republicans) would capitulate to additional spending when shutdowns loomed. Democrats ran an extortion racket: acquiesce to more spending or we’ll close the government and blame Republicans. 2025 began with DOGE slashing government spending. Democrats then rushed to the courts seeking injunctions. That was then. With their government shutdown push, Democrats just ran a bus over their base. Because you-know-who resides rent-free in their heads, they’ve concluded a government shutdown sounds great.

Because Republicans cut funding to the Democrats’ favorite programs, Democrats’ brain trust now grants OMB Director Russ Vought unlimited rescission authority. Their specious logic goes like this: if Democrats support a shutdown because Republicans support insufficient spending, voters will blame Republicans for the ensuing shutdown. Yet it’s not Republicans supporting the shutdown.

It’s unclear whether Democrats managed to self-destruct on their own or were into it. The party of Really Big Government handed the administration a blank check for wholesale layoffs. Maybe Democrats believe a shutdown will encourage voters to rise up and demand restoring positions. Maybe they’re just insane. Nobody will notice or care if hundreds of thousands of surplus federal workers are fired, except the workers.

Democrats might want to rethink this one. The ones being hurt the most are their fellow travelers, foot soldiers comprising the ranks of overpaid and underworked federal bureaucrats. Shutdowns normally conclude with furloughed government employees receiving vacations, then receiving full back pay after the charade concludes. Except this time, workers . Have Democrats considered the loss of campaign contributions from federal workers and their unions?

Republican presidents have long dreamed of a constitutional amendment granting them unlimited line-item veto authority. Christmas arrived early for Trump this year. The areas targeted for the largest cuts include healthcare, education, science, and social services. Defense (War), immigration enforcement, and law enforcement workers are safe. The federal government is being reformulated away from touchy-feely objectives, with an emphasis on restoring its original primary mission to ensure public safety. It’s not all cuts. Thanks to the OBBB, ICE is adding 10,000 agents.

Education faces approximately $5 billion in additional cuts; HHS is slated for $33 billion (about 26%); NSF faces a 56% cut, with HUD scheduled for a 43% cut. Labor faces a 35% cut, and over $10 billion more is slated to be drained from foreign aid and public broadcasting. Imagine the horror: platoons of overpaid NPR and PBS executives forced to take pay cuts or pink slips. Woke corporations might need to advertise to woke listeners and viewers.

By September 30, over 350,000 workers had left the federal workforce from an initial 2.4 million total, almost a 15% reduction. The biggest cuts were made to the War Department, 55,000. The second biggest was Treasury, down 33,000, mostly from the IRS. Agriculture cut 21,000 and HHS cut 20,000. A shutdown provides the administration a clean way to permanently eliminate hundreds of thousands more jobs. Litigation and costly buyouts are avoided.

Critics complain that the administration’s planned cuts bypass Congress. Precisely. The Number One impediment to wholesale reform is Congress. Number Two is the judiciary. A government shutdown removes the ability of both branches to obstruct executive branch spending determinations. Democrats just defenestrated two government branches, then empowered the executive.

Shutdowns eventually conclude. The longer that date gets postponed, the more bureaucrats who will be signing up to learn to code. Democrats are running out of factions in their base to antagonize. Legal citizens, males, Whites, Christians, Jews, cisgenders, female athletes, the law-abiding, and now bureaucrats have been systematically run over by the bus. The party’s remaining minority females, criminals, and transgenders don’t yield a winning coalition.

Today’s Democrats call to mind German Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller, famous for his post-Nazism confession: “When they came for the socialists, I did not speak out because I wasn’t a socialist…” This can be updated for federal bureaucrats: “When they came for the males, I did not speak... Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.” But Democrats are speaking out. Their problem is that they’re speaking out for illegals, criminals, Hamas, and Antifa, elevating these creeps to cultural icons.

Democrats are cruising on autopilot. Since shutdowns began under Reagan, they learned that threatening shutdowns yields spending increases. Until 2025. They have two options: support or oppose spending reductions. Because they’re hardwired for the latter, they’re constitutionally unable to consider anything else, regardless of the consequences. Spending über alles.

Senator John Kennedy concluded that Democrats’ shutdown antics provide “that much more evidence that human evolution is a slow, slow process. I thought humans had advanced more as a species, but apparently we haven’t.” Trump has dialed his trolling up to 11, with backup from MAGA forces. The White House assembled a highlights reel of Democrats decrying shutdowns. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-Bedlam): “If the government shuts down, it will be average Americans who suffer the most.” There might be a sliver of truth in Schumer’s statement, but Democrats’ problem is they’re the ones creating chaos. The shutdown’s impact is mostly confined to hundreds of thousands of overwhelmingly leftist bureaucrats.

We’ve seen this movie before. TDS victims such as Hillary, Mitt, or Kamala never recover their bearings. They wallow in self-pity, seeking others to blame. The infection has spread throughout Democrats’ ranks. Kaitlan Collins tried, but failed, to trip up House Speaker Mike Johnson over the Schumer Shutdown. Johnson noted that Democrats oppose the same funding they voted for in March. Polling shows 2.4 times as many voters oppose Democrats’ refusal to fund the government as those who approve.

Gaza parallels are obvious. Hamas leaders, wallowing in luxury abroad, sacrifice their population on anti-Zionism’s altar. Democrats routinely sacrifice their constituencies. They also aren’t allowing their shutdown to go to waste. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee scheduled an October 13-14 retreat at the five-star Estate Yountville in Napa Valley. Rooms start at $700 nightly. Organic wine, hot tubs, massages, and spa treatments are extra. The event features vineyard and wine cave tours before dinner at the exclusive Staglin Family Vineyard.

Feel free to draw the Marie Antoinette analogy. The retreat also includes a crypto roundtable. Maybe Democrats’ $40 million donor Sam Bankman-Fried can phone it in. His schedule remains free for 24 years. Trump is unconcernedabout the shutdown: “I don’t worry about that because people that are smart see what’s happening. The Democrats are deranged.”

Podcast thread for Oct 3rd

On to the weekend!

Imagine You’re Woke…

Having watched Secretary of War Pete Hegseth’s speech to the military brass this week, I allowed myself to wonder what it is like for the woke in this country. It isn’t out of concern for them as much as it is understanding your foes in the culture war we find ourselves thrust into. For the first time in years, they face the reality that their intended victims are now rising up and fighting back. Their regime is over. Imagine the fear that generates.

Let’s look at the litany of their crimes against our country. Up until Trump’s reelection, the woke ran rampant. They had no limits or fears. No one held them in check. Even the dead were not free from their grasp -- they blacklisted Dr. Seuss books. They imposed almost as much censorship as the Biden Administration did, with zero oversight.

They stood for everything and nothing. They had a never-ending laundry list of infractions, real and perceived, that they held others to. Labels became how they identified their foes. You could be called a Nazi or fascist simply for liking a post on X. Homophobe, transphobe, phobe of any kind, for simply not agreeing to what they posted or said. If all else failed, you were simply called a racist or misogynist… their “classics.”

The woke asserted that if you didn’t get the COVID vaccine you should lose your job, or not be admitted to the hospital if you did get sick. Churches were closed and people in nursing homes were cut off from the world, many left alone to die. They spied and reported on their neighbors as if they were in old East Germany. Under the auspices of “following the science” they suggested courses of action that were unthinkable in our country, and did so without a hint of conscience.

During the Summer of Love (2020), just for the lols, they burned cities and looted to influence the election and got away with it, encouraging them to do more of the same. Whenever crimes were committed in their name, they blamed the guns or, worse, the victims. The woke were always innocent, always believing they were acting for a greater good they couldn’t define or explain.

Once they targeted you, they could do anything their twisted hearts desired. Sometimes they made up lies, fabricated online posts. Often they would take something you wrote out of context, adding their own little graphic to make it appear worse. They contacted employers and got many people fired, with none of the due process they allege is so valuable. People lost their jobs, careers, livelihoods, and became ostracized by accusers they had never met, never spoken to, and didn’t know at all.

Anonymity was their chief ally. It was hard to sue people who lived under false identities. It’s hard to confront people who live in their parent’s basements and are shielded by fake names. The woke reveled in the masking of their identities, believing it empowered them in some way.

In corporations and entities from the government to every aspect of life, things like DEI were inflicted on the rest of us. They rewrote our history. Statues of our former presidents were torn down under the guise of something called “social justice.” There was no public mandate for their actions, no vote, no debate. They simply acted like the petulant children they were.

Then Donald Trump got reelected.

A purge of DEI began. Cancellation got flipped -- for the first time it was a weapon levelled at their ranks. Overnight, the woke suddenly had something to fear, a leader that was not about to put up with their idiocy. For the first time in years, they had to deal with fear. It wasn’t the same fear they had inflicted on others. This was worse, for them. They were afraid of retribution. Now they might face the same pain they had forced on others.

Pete Hegseth’s meeting at Quantico with the upper echelons of the Pentagon was the erection of the tombstone for the woke cause. Those who continued to play their little games were put on full notice. Do what is right, or they would find themselves excised and excommunicated. All of their pointless acronyms, programs, and silly labels were destroyed.

The Secretary of War has buried wokeism in the military. Many companies have killed their wasteful DEI programs. Hegseth and the President have made it clear -- woke is a sick, pathetic, weak, and broken ideology whose time is over. The wokies fear that laws may be passed that allow for legal recourse for what they did.

There’s still a great deal of work to do, but we are finally on the right path, burying this ideology deep. It’s about damn time.

The Antifa War Instigators

Some things never change. Last Saturday, Ron Wyden, Oregon’s senior Democrat U.S. senator, made a ballsy -- if unintended -- declaration in a X post. Wyden proclaimed: “My message to Donald Trump is this: we don’t need you here. Stay the hell out of our city.”

My, my, are we hearing echoes of John C. Calhoun’s fiery declarations in the runup to the Civil War? The senator’s words smack of States’ Rights conceit. You’d think that Senator Calhoun -- err, Wyden -- was demanding that federal troops vacate Fort Sumter. Didn’t Abe Lincoln settle that matter way back when?

Portland -- the “our city” that Wyden refers -- and Seattle are hotbeds for Antifa, which was recently -- and rightfully -- declared a domestic terrorist outfit by President Donald Trump. Read the president’s executive order. They’re insurrectionists, no less -- or, more accurately, the tools of insurrectionists. The real rebels are many of the nation’s elite. You know, the usual suspects -- tech zillionaires, tenured academics, hedge fund titans, trust fund babies, NGO scammers, lefty lawyers, corporate media shills, etc.

Echoing Wyden was Oregon governor Tina Kotek and Portland mayor Keith Wilson. Kotek’s sole claim to fame is being one of the first openly lesbian governors. Wilson’s bio page starts off with his preferred pronouns. Kotek and Wilson had a presser telling Trump that federal troops weren’t welcome in their troubled city. What are Democrats thinking? Better to have unchecked violence and terrorists rule the streets? Why the free pass to attack ICE offices? Could it be that illegals are critical to the Democrats’ political fortunes?

Across the country in Virginia, days before Wyden’s ultimatum, the Democrat nominee for governor and current U.S. representative Abigail Spanberger declared to her supporters, “Let your rage fuel you.” That’s an odd way to get out the vote. Spanberger isn’t dumb or naïve. No sloppy language. She encouraged her backers to rage at least twice from the stump. She served as an operations officer in the CIA from 2006 to 2014. She inhaled the precepts of what constitutes a color revolution. Spanberger meant what she said.

As reported by the End of the American Dream, September 24, far-left journalist Seth Abramson had this to say in a Blue Sky post about Charlie Kirk’s memorial event:

There’s nothing godly, good, Christian or American about any word that’s been uttered at that Arizona stadium today

These fascists are so up their as**oles that their words reek of darkness

It’s clear that they plan to accelerate the death of America beyond even what we anticipated

If death is absolute, pray tell, how does it surpass what’s anticipated? Be that as it may, you have to have one dark mind to construe Kirk’s memorial service as an attempt to kill America. Abramson holds a minority view, but he’s an influencer among other fringy types who share his hate.

Then there’s Robert L. Allbritton, who founded and owned PoliticoPer an X post by Mike Paranzino (September 24):

[Allbritton] now funds nonprofit "newsroom" that describes antifa as "anti-fascist movement" focused on "confronting neo-Nazis and disrupting white supremacist demonstrations". NOTUS, his nonprofit, also trains young reporters.

Commenting on Paranzino’s post, Andy Ngo stated: “He’s [Allbritton] running cover for Antifa and is using a lot of money to train student journalists to be the next brigade of Antifa propagandists and liars.”

The impression one has of Antifa ruffians is that, like the Scarecrow, they lack brains, though they aren’t off to Oz searching for any. Many are the products of affluence, progressive culture, and indoctrination -- indoctrination thinly veiled as education in left-wing-dominated schools. At core, these overindulged louts are trained to have their levers pulled. They’re doers, not thinkers. They function as attack dogs. Their ears are attuned to dog whistles. When they hear them, they spring into action.

Are Antifa punks communists? Pull their strings and they spout radical left isms. They’re “anti-fascists,” who employ decidedly fascist tactics, circa the 1930s in Italy and Germany. At heart, they’re anarchists -- not in the political sense, but in the sense of promoting mayhem. They’re disrupters, because they’ve been brainwashed that Western Civilization and American society are twin evils.

They’re more governed by nihilism than communism, whatever the hogwash about stages of revolution. God isn’t, so nothing is. Let’s rip up things. Their lever-pullers are driven by greater -- though mean -- purpose. They’re gluttonous for power. If breaking things and hurting people are useful to their acquiring and retaining power, then dog whistle.

The hunger for power is as ancient as homo sapiens. Marx’s masterwork of resentment and envy, The Communist Manifesto, dates back to only 1848. That’s a mere eyeblink in history. It was a pithy sleight of hand. It gushes with a false air of noble purpose. Declaring to smash shackles and liberate exploited workers was only candy--coating. Inside was rotten impulses. Tens of millions of slaughtered peoples in the 20th century offer mute testament. It’s still an animating spirit, though. It’s provided rationalizations for resentment and envy lo a century and three--quarters.

Democrats and moneybags like George Soros and his ilk have set up things to claim deniability. Jail time or exile isn’t their bag. But the deniability shield is starting to buckle. “Nothing to see here” -- in Portland, Seattle, L.A., San Francisco, New York, and wherever Democrats rule and ruin -- is shopworn. Trump’s DoJ is exploring applying RICO statutes to Soros’ operations, particularly his Open Societies Foundations. Charges “ranging from material support to terrorism, arson, wire fraud and racketeering” are being probed, per ABC News. Never doubt that power acquisition lines pockets. Is Soros in his way any less a gangster than Saul Alinsky?

If Pam Bondi gets the job done, the DoJ will strip Soros of his shield. Others may be charged as well. But Soros is the linchpin. If he and his network go down, other elites may think twice before underwriting violence, however indirectly. Trump may have to keep prodding Bondi to move, though. Looks like she suffers the slows.

As with those patriotic Democrats of 1860-61 vintage, today’s Democrats have a mighty tough time accepting election results. 2016 was supposed to elevate Hillary Clinton to the presidency. When that didn’t happen, Democrats -- surreptitiously led by Clinton and Obama -- simply doubled down on dirty tricks.

The transformation of America into something unrecognizable as America was supposed to hasten with a Hillary junta. Every twist and turn since then by frustrated Democrats and embittered elites, their fellow travelers, and their lackeys in the streets stems for Trump spoiling their plans. But not Trump alone. They have frank contempt for tens upon tens of millions of red-blooded Americans -- you and me -- who don’t cotton to the elite’s perverse morality and autocratic vision.

What have we learned from the Democrats’ tumultuous history? What do we know about the elites who back them? Power is what they prize. Acquiring it, retaining it, and controlling others through its exercise is what they live for. Wealth is gotten through power. Intimidation and violence are recourses when lawful and democratic means do not avail… when political ends are thwarted, fair and square.

Whatever it takes -- armed rebellion or, later, sending out nightriding KKK or Antifa, the means -- however ruinous -- are acceptable. That’s the Democrats’ track record, and it’s undeniable.

Data Doesn’t Lie: Political Violence Is An Overwhelmingly Left-Wing Problem

The rot in the so-called data pushed by leftist scholars studying political violence gets worse the deeper you dig.

Even before Charlie Kirk had been pronounced dead, the narrative apparatus of the Left was in full gear trying to blame the assassination on the Right. Once it became clear that the shooter was a standard-issue leftist, the narrative shifted to “this is a both-sides problem.” But before Kirk had been laid the rest, the experts and researchers had been mobilized to assert that the original claims, if not accurate, were consistent with a pattern in which political violence in America is largely a right-wing problem. Having spent my career in academia sopping up such unctuous claims, let me assure you that this is complete nonsense. Political violence in America is mostly a problem of the Left.

Begin with some bright, shining facts. There were two assassination attempts against President Trump in the recent election and none against his opponents. The California gunman arrested outside Brett Kavanaugh’s home in 2022 planned to assassinate three conservative Supreme Court justices, not any liberal ones. Attempts on the lives of members of Congress this century have resulted in one Republican (Steve Scalise) and one Democrat (Gabby Giffords) suffering serious injuries.

The most recent violence against elected politicians — the murder of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, and the serious injuring of State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife in June — was committed by a deranged loner with no political motives, despite efforts by the Left to portray it as a political act of the Right.

As for violent political assaults on government operations, there have been three main occurrences in recent years. One was the left-wing Women’s March assaults during the Kavanaugh hearings in 2018 on both the Capitol (227 arrests) and then the Supreme Court (164 arrests); the second was the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots against police, courthouses, and local government and business across the country, resulting in over 10,000 local arrests and over 300 federal charges brought, in addition to dozens of assaults on police (including the killing of Bothel, Washington officer Jonathan Shoop in 2020, five Dallas police officers in 2016, and two New York cops in their squad car in Brooklyn in 2014) by BLM activists. There was also one targeted killing of a BLM counter-protester in my hometown of Portland. The third was the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol (1,575 arrests) in which one police officer and one protester (who was a Trump supporter) died. It was the BLM riots, not the Jan. 6 insurrection, that came first, normalizing political violence in the U.S.

Let’s add an even brighter fact to the mix. The overwhelmingly greatest source of political murder in the United States (80 to 90 percent of deaths depending on how you measure) is committed by Islamic radicals, motivated by some toxic mixture of hatred of the United States, hatred of Israel and the Jews, and support for the fiction called Palestine.

Take your pick of Islamic horrors over the last decade — 14 people killed at an office holiday party in San Bernardino, 49 killed in an Orlando nightclub, 14 dead on Bourbon Street — to highlight this overt threat. While the Left does not openly align itself with Islamic radicalism, its elected members like Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib play down the Islamic threat and excuse atrocities against Israel. President Biden’s declaration in 2023 that “white supremacy” rather than Islamic radicalism was the main terrorist threat in the United States was borderline treason. The murder of two Israeli diplomats in DC this year by a left-wing activist from Chicago was a predictable result. Attempts to portray Islamic violence as “non-partisan” fail the laugh test. I have never seen a Hamas flag or heard “Death to America” at a conservative gathering.

When Violence is a Feature, Not a Flaw

More generally, the culture of political violence is overwhelmingly a culture of the Left. The belief that “justice” requires the forceful dismantling of “the system,” whether through “revolution” or through “civil disobedience,” is as central to the DNA of the Left as is the countervailing belief in the preservation of ordered rule on the Right.

Today’s ongoing assaults on ICE agents (including the attack in Dallas on Sept. 25 that killed two detainees with bullets inscribed “Anti-ICE”) show that violence is a feature, not a flaw of left-wing politics in America, just as the violent groups the Weather Underground and the Black Panthers were in the 1960s.

This taps into a more general romanticization of political violence by canonical figures of left-wing thought like Frantz Fanon and Che Guevara, central figures whose writings are forced onto our young people by professors even today. President Obama invited a black rapper to the White House, whose album featured a dead white judge on the cover that resembled Ronald Reagan. Luigi Mangione is a folk hero on the left for his politically motivated murder of a health care executive in New York City. The currently running movie One Battle After Another features actor Leonardo DiCaprio as a superannuated revolutionary who regains his mojo by taking up arms against nefarious forces in government that ring like sad attempts to reflect the Trump administration.

There is no parallel on the Right — no t-shirts celebrating the legacy of Timothy McVeigh, no movies that romanticize the Klan. The fact is that the Left has a political violence problem; the Right does not.

Pushing Phony Data

It is at this point that the experts are called upon to declaim upon “the data”, the last refuge of scoundrels. “The data since 9/11 shows that lethal left-wing violence has been a much smaller problem than right-wing terrorism,” The Wall Street Journal quoted Peter Bergen, an expert at the left-leaning New America, as saying in an article that ran even before Kirk had been laid to rest.

Other voices trotted out in recent weeks to assert that “the data” shows political violence is mainly a problem of the Right include University of Dayton professor Art Jipson, a “white supremacy” researcher, and the University of Chicago’s Robert Pape whose research is obsessively centered on Jan. 6 and who, in a New York Times podcast, retreated into sociological generalities to explain Luigi Mangione, refusing to identify his beliefs and motives as left-wing.

Another widely cited set of reports is by The Prosecution Project which is headed by University of Cincinnati professor Michael Loadenthal who, among other lunatic ideas, argues that  “violence as a response to colonialism is expected” and calls himself a “vegan activist” who is “committed to defending animal liberation by whatever means necessary.” His database labels as “right-wing violence” the case of three people who staged a peaceful sit-in at a Planned Parenthood office in West Chester, Pennsylvania in 2021 and four black men who robbed Mexicans. One online fact-checker found that more than half of his project’s classifications of “right-wing” violence were patently wrong.

Without putting too fine a point on it, scholars whose work begins with the premise of overwhelming threats from the Right are not in a position to make balanced arguments about the sources of political violence.

But “the data does not lie,” they will say. “There is no credible, widespread evidence to suggest that claims of right-wing political violence are being fabricated,” you will be told by Google’s AI search engine if you dare to ask. Actually, there is, a lot.

Take the list compiled by the Cato Institute’s Alex Nowrasteh, once known as a libertarian organization but now situated squarely within the left-liberal world. Nowrasteh counts 12 lethal political attackers since 2020 from the Right but only nine from the Left. His list of the Right mistakenly includes at least four cases: the Melissa Hortman killing mentioned above, a confused black teenager who killed one student at Antioch High School in Tennessee this year (laughably called a “white supremacist” by the media), a Hispanic man also labelled a “white supremacist” who shot up a shopping mall in Texas in 2023, and a man who became addicted to prostitutes and shot up a brothel in 2021 (again, laughably called a political crime because the sex-workers were Asians).

This “racially-motivated” killings loophole turns out to be the main way that left-wing scholars smuggle in claims that “right-wing extremism” is the source of the majority of political killings in the U.S. Interestingly, the Asian woman pushed to her death on a New York subway train by a black immigrant from Haiti in 2022 never makes it into their lists as “left-wing extremism.”

On the Left side, the problem with the data, including that of Nowrasteh, is how to deal with widespread killing and violence in the black community that is politically motivated. In addition to ignoring all the hit-jobs on police by BLM activists, for instance, his database excludes the stabbing of two teenage tourists from Paraguay at Grand Central Terminal in New York in 2023 by a black man uttering anti-white slurs as well as the recent knife murder of a Ukrainian refugee in Charlotte by a black man who boasted that “I got that white girl.” It also excludes the six whites killed (and 60 injured) by the virulent black supremacist who ploughed his car into a Christmas parade in Wisconsin in  2021.

Other alleged “data” sources are no better. A study by Gary LaFree of U Maryland for the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism at the University of Maryland, College Park using its Profiles of Individual Radicalization in the United States (PIRUS) from 1948 to 2022 begins with the claim that “in comparison to left-wing supporters, right-wing individuals are more often characterized by closed-mindedness and dogmatism and a heightened need for order, structure, and cognitive closure.”

By contrast, “left-wing individuals score higher on openness to new experiences, cognitive complexity, and tolerance of uncertainty.” It defines “ideologically-motivated crime” in a way that makes most left-wing causes — like the killing of a health care executive — non-ideological while treating a range of non-ideological causes (like being an “involuntary celibate”) as right-wing. For good measure, it anonymizes all data records so outsiders cannot evaluate the coding decisions. No surprise then that his database lists 1200 far-right but only 225 far-left violent offender individuals.

Redefining ‘Right-Wing’ Violence

The New America database finds found 137 political murders caused by the far-right since 9/11, but only three (the Portland counter-protestor and the two Israeli diplomats) by the far-left. When was this hitherto unknown wave of far-right terrorism? Like the ADL and other projects, it classifies domestic disputes in which one party is right-wing as “right-wing violence,” such as the 17-year-old who killed his parents in Wisconsin this year. By that standard, about 80 percent of the thousands of murders in the black community should be classified as “left-wing violence.”

It also classifies the black shooter in Nashville in 2025 as a “white supremacist.” It includes as right-wing the two killed in a botched robbery in 2019 by two U.S. mercenaries planning to join the anti-government movement in Venezuela (which is like attributing as “far left” terrorism every black street kid with a BLM shirt who kills a store owner during a hold-up).

Going back to 2015, it classifies as “right-wing” a theater shooting in Lafayette, Louisiana, where no known motives were discovered. Meanwhile, killings where the perpetrator was clearly associated with left-wing causes, like the Duluth man who killed four family members in 2024 and was a vocal online critic of all things Trump and Republican, are strangely absent from the database.

Similar flaws abound in a widely cited CSIS study which also uses the “involuntary celibate” label to describe many killings by men against women as “right-wing.” The loner who shot up Umpqua Community College in Oregon in 2015, killing nine, is classified in their study as “right-wing” because he complained of having “no friends, no job, no girlfriend, a virgin.” It ignores the fact that he ascertained that people were Christians before shooting them, which, if anything, would tilt the description towards being left-wing.

The rot in the data gets worse when you dig deeper. One widely-cited study of political murders between 1990 and 2020 counted 227 from the Right but only 42 from the Left. The study did not make its data available, so one can only guess about how it arrived at the numbers. Of course, 168 of those came from the Oklahoma City bombing of 1995, which skews the total (and raises the question of why not throw Islamic terrorist attacks into the left-wing bin). Strip that out and you are left with 59 versus 42. But the project defines, for instance, the killing of a homeless person as a “right-wing” attack on the grounds that homeless people are “marginalized” and conservatives have it out for all of the marginalized, and killings of women by sexually frustrated men as also right-wing political murders on the grounds that all conservative men have it out for women as well.

The project also coded “political crimes” as right-wing, including instances of controversial police killings of blacks, such as George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. The author is a left-wing activist at SUNY Oswego, Celinet Duran-Jimenez, who tells her students not to trust police and claims that black incarceration is modern slavery. I challenge anyone to read her interview with an academic newsletter and still be willing to trust her data.

More recently, a report produced by the Department of Justice under the Biden administration simply repeats the errors in the Duran-Jimenez study by using it as its basis. As I always tell my students, whenever someone makes a claim and then substantiates with a citation without explaining the source, there is a good chance the evidence of flimsy.

Finally, the most egregious abuse of data claims comes from the Anti-Defamation League. As Timothy Carney points out, the ADL tracks murders “by people associated with a variety of domestic extremist movements,” which means that if a Montana militiaman kills his brother in a feud over beer, it is classified as “right-wing violence.” A man who joins a white gang in prison and commits a murder after release is also classified as “right-wing violence.”

The ADL also included as “right-wing” the killing of a policeman and the wounding of two others in Dallas in 2024 by a black man who identified as a Muslim by claiming he had “ties to the sovereign citizen movement.” And it outright just ignores cases like the 2023 Covenant School killing of six students and staff by a virulently anti-Christian bigot and gender activist.

Despite his overt anti-ICE messaging and communist regalia on his social media, last week’s Dallas ICE shooter will no doubt be classified as “right-wing” by the experts because he was a gun owner, or because he was a lonely young man, or because he killed immigrants (even if my mistake). That’s what “the experts” have come to on this question.

The distortion of the truth about political violence in America is dangerous because it misdirects law enforcement attention to the wrong threats and reinforces public skepticism about expert research. The way to end political violence in America is to first get serious about the facts.

Dems Want Free Healthcare for Aliens Biden Regime Refused to Deport

Democrats forced a government shutdown this week to preserve health care for illegal aliens who should have been deported by the Biden administration but were instead “paroled” en masse in one of the greatest abuses of executive power in modern times.

Under federal immigration law, foreign nationals who illegally enter the United States must be detained and deported. However, the law also grants the Department of Homeland Security secretary the authority to parole certain illegal aliens on a case-by-case basis, based on “urgent humanitarian reasons or a significant public benefit,” according to the United States Immigration and Citizenship Services (USCIS). As explained by the USCIS, parole “is not intended to be used solely to avoid normal visa processing procedures and timelines, to bypass inadmissibility waiver processing, or to replace established refugee processing channels.”

That’s what makes the Biden administration’s decision to parole millions of otherwise inadmissible aliens into the U.S. so egregious. The administration twisted the law beyond recognition, handing out parole status to nearly 3 million illegal foreign nationals. According to a report from the House Judiciary Committee and its Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement, the Biden administration — in an attempt to cover up the border crisis it provoked — “created, without Congressional authorization, what it called ‘lawful pathways’ for illegal aliens to enter the U.S.”

The report explains that the administration created a parole program specifically for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans (CHNV).

“Through CHNV, each month up to 30,000 aliens, who otherwise have no basis to enter the country … can bypass the U.S. border and fly directly into the country … to be ‘granted parole’ for a period of two years. …”

This was an unprecedented abuse of the parole power. More than 500,000 aliens from just these four countries used this specific program to enter the U.S. — not withstanding the other millions of aliens the administration paroled via other avenues, such as granting more than 1 million foreign citizens Temporary Protected Status. As North Carolina Congressman Addison McDowell explained, the Biden administration “bypass[ed] visa procedures” and ignored background checks.

In doing so, the Biden administration made these millions of otherwise illegal aliens eligible for federal health care. It’s these foreign nationals for whom Democrats shut down the government this week.

As the Federation for American Immigration Reform’s Ira Mehlman told Blaze News : “Illegal aliens who have been granted parole, [Temporary Protected Status], or DACA qualify for these benefits because — while they remain illegal aliens — they are lawfully present. Under the Biden administration, millions of illegal aliens were paroled into the country or granted TPS and have been able to access these benefits.”

Republicans wanted to stop the abuse, and so in the One Big Beautiful Bill, they passed a provision that narrowed the eligibility requirements for government health care benefits like Medicaid. In doing so, House Republicans restricted certain foreign nationals — like the nearly 3 million otherwise inadmissible aliens who received blanket parole into the United States by the Biden administration — from getting free federal health care.

Democrats have now shut the government down, demanding that provision be repealed. They are willingly letting American workers go without pay, disrupting services, and grinding the federal government to a stop so that millions of otherwise inadmissible aliens — who only gained lawful presence through Biden’s blatant abuse of the system — can keep their place on Medicaid rolls.

Democrats can play word games all they want, but Americans know that these migrants were inadmissible, should have been deported, but instead were handed a new label to cover up for the Biden-Harris’ disastrous and lawless policies.

This shutdown is about protecting benefits for people who should have never been here in the first place.

Report Shows Biden Regime Let Aliens Overstay Expired Parole

As the Democrats try to force Americans to give free health care to illegal immigrants given “parole” status, a recent report shows the Biden Department of Homeland Security (DHS) refused to deport illegal aliens who stayed in the country after their “parole” expired.

The DHS report, highlighted by a request by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem on Thursday, shows that 61,455 parolee visas expired from November 2024 to February 2025 alone, and that “under [Biden] DHS policies and practices, aliens could remain unlawfully in the United States after parole expiration without enforcement consequences.”

As The Federalist reported, for the most part, paroled aliens were only given that status because the Biden administration had no interest in deporting illegals or enforcing immigration law whatsoever.

The parole function is supposed to be used sparingly and on a case-by-case basis for things like “urgent humanitarian reasons or a significant public benefit,” my colleague Brianna Lyman pointed out, and “is not intended to be used solely to avoid normal visa processing procedures and timelines, to bypass inadmissibility waiver processing, or to replace established refugee processing channels.”

However, the Biden administration decided to use the parole function as a loophole to import millions of illegals into the country, while also making them eligible for the very same free health care the Democrats have decided to shut down the government for.

They were eligible because, although still illegal aliens, the parole gave them “legal status” to be in the country temporarily, and therefore eligible to receive health benefits. However, in the “Big Beautiful Bill,” Republicans tightened eligibility requirements for those benefits, and Democrats are now demanding that provision be repealed using a government shutdown as the tool.

In a totally unsurprising display, Democrats are once again showing their deep disdain for the American people in favor of illegals who should never have been in the country, many of whom have never been given parole status, and certainly should never be eligible to receive American taxpayer-funded free government benefits.

According to the Trump administration, the Biden administration actually instructed entities that help enroll people in health care programs to actively not ask about immigration status and to “avoid” using the words “undocumented” or “illegal.”

The DHS report and Grassley’s letter to Noem show just how deep the cultural sabotage conducted by the Biden administration went.

“The OIG found that multiple Biden-DHS components — including U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) — failed to uphold their respective responsibilities under federal law and executive policy for tracking and enforcing parole expirations,” Grassley said in the letter.

Grassley noted in his letter that CBP is required by Congress to track and report overstay data to Congress and the public, but failed to do so under the Biden administration. USCIS failed to establish and maintain a data system to track parole expirations. CBP and USCIS did not inform ICE when parolees entered the country, and ICE also did not consider those whose paroles had expired as immediately removable.

Representative of all other Biden administration immigration policy, DHS was postured to see how many illegals they could flood the country rather than to actually secure the homeland.
