When Does a War End?

The year was 1977. Hawaii Five-0 TV program. A crazed young man wanted to kill an older Japanese man who he thought had tortured and killed his father on the Bataan Death March in World War II. Well over 30 years previous, but the anger and hatred for his father’s Japanese antagonist was still there. As always, in the nick of time, Hawaii Five-0 chief, Steve McGarrett, arrived to save the day. A reporter had been trying to get a story out of this, and as the show was ending, he said to McGarrett about his story, “I could caption it ‘When Does a War End?’” McGarrett answered, “When do all wars end? When people stop hating and start loving.” The reporter asked, “Do you think that will ever happen?” To which McGarrett replied, “It better...oh God, it better.”

Uh, I’m sorry, Mr. McGarrett (Jack Lord was superb in that role), but wars will never end because hatred will never end. Almost 50 years later, the American President, Donald Trump, has met with Russian President Vladimir Putin about a war between Russia and Ukraine that has been going on for over 40 months now, but, prayerfully, it will end soon. The problem Mr. McGarrett (the Hollywood writers) wanted to solve—hatred in the human heart—will, sadly, never be cured because evil exists within every human breast, in greater or lesser degrees. There always has been evil in the world, and there always will be. And one of the greatest evils is hatred.

So, as long as this earth has existed, and will exist, hatred and war have existed and will exist. It doesn’t have to be that way, it shouldn’t be that way. But it is. 50 years ago, 2 Hollywood writers put into the mouth of a famous actor that war will end when hatred ends. That may be true. But it certainly hasn’t happened since 1977.

There are different kinds of “wars,” of course. Russians and Ukrainians have, off and on throughout their history, been at “war,” the killing kind of war that has happened all over the globe and far too often in human history. A couple of years ago, Hamas started this kind of war—a shooting, killing war—against Israel, and it’s probable they regret it now. But Arabs and Jews have been at “war,” in some shape, form, or fashion, since Ishmael and Isaac, and there doesn’t seem to be any possibility of it ever ceasing. Some people are taught hate from their mother’s womb, and they die with that same hate in their breasts. Hence, wars that kill people.

For over 40 years, from about 1945 to 1991, there was a “Cold War” between the Soviet Union and the “West,” mainly America. This was an ideological war between two ways of viewing the world—communism and liberal democracy. Interestingly, the USSR and USA never went face-to-face in a shooting war against each other. But they did fight proxy shooting wars in Korea, Vietnam, and a few other out-of-the-way, unfindable, irrelevant places on the map.

And while we call this “Cold War” an “ideological” war between communism and Western values, the true source of the “war” was hatred. Vladimir Lenin, of Marxism/Leninism fame, told his followers, “We must hate—hatred is the basis of communism. Children must be taught to hate their parents if they are not communists.” Mr. McGarrett, what do you do when the very foundation of a people’s belief is hatred? When they are taught to hate, even their parents, if those parents don’t follow the correct 3 ideological path in life? Thankfully, the Soviet Union—Marxism/Leninism in that country—collapsed. But has Marxism disappeared from the world?

America is at “war” right now—with itself, within its own borders. It’s not a “civil war” a la what we fought in 1861-65, but the divide may be even deeper now. Lenin’s admonition to hate is alive and well in Leftist circles today, and anyone who cannot see that isn’t paying attention. Hatred even to the point of taking children away from parents who don’t “train” them the way the Left wants them trained. Pure Leninism. Get God, the Bible, and the Ten Commandments out of schools—which should be institutions overseen by parents for assisting in educating their children the way the parents want them educated. But, to the Marxist Left, parents, the nuclear family, are a hindrance, a nuisance, an obstacle to proper tutelage. Education is the government’s job. So said their master, Karl Marx: “The education of all children, from the moment that they can get along without a mother’s care, shall be in state institutions.” We are at war, folks. The Left is “coming for your children,” to turn them into something most parents don’t want them to be.

And it’s all rooted in...hate. A hate that Lenin said was the core of communism, a hate that venomously spits out of every Leftist’s mouth each time Donald Trump takes a breath. A hatred that revels every time a believer in Christianity dies.

I’m sorry, Mr. McGarrett, we kicked “love thy neighbor as thyself” out of our education system a long time ago, and replaced it with Vladimir Lenin’s “we must hate—hatred is the basis of communism.” And communism is what the Left wants, regardless of how loudly they shout “democracy.”

Never forget, the letters “USSR” stood for “Union of Soviet Socialist REPUBLICS.” The official name of communist China (the PRC), is 4 the ”PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC of China.” North Korea? “The DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC of Korea.” Yeah. American Leftists want “democracy.”

When does a war end? Maybe McGarrett was right, it will end when people love instead of hate. When will that happen? Not in your lifetime or mine, or anybody else’s in the future, either. Not if history teaches us anything at all about the human heart.

WATCH: Gun rights supporters celebrate 9th Circuit’s ruling against CA gun rationing law

(The Center Square) – Gun rights supporters are celebrating what they call a significant victory after the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals issued a mandate on Thursday overturning California’s “one-gun-per-month” law.

In a decision issued in June, the appeals court ruled in favor of the Bellevue, Wash.-based Second Amendment Foundation and its partners in Nguyen v. Bonta. The case challenged California’s one-gun-per-month law, which restricted most individuals from purchasing more than one firearm within a 30-day period

California lawmakers first imposed the gun purchase limit on handguns in 1999. Then in 2019, lawmakers passed an amendment that added the 30-day limit on semiautomatic rifle purchases.

On Jan. 1, 2024, California residents were limited to one purchase of a firearm of any kind within a 30-day period.

press release from SAF noted that the Firearms Policy Coalition and San Diego County Gun Owners PAC, two  Federal Firearms License gun dealers, and six private citizens, including Michelle Nguyen, for whom the case is named, joined them in the legal challenge.

On Friday, The Center Square spoke with SAF Director of Legal Operations William Sack about the case.

The Center Square's Carleen Johnson interviews William Sack, Director of Legal Operations for the Second Amendment Foundation

“The opinion is certainly significant in a few ways,” he said.” Anytime the Second Amendment wins in California, that's you know screaming from the hilltops, ‘Holy crap. What just happened?’”

Sack explained that the court’s ruling and the mandate differ.

“When the opinions come out, the opinions kind of go through all the legal analysis, and they announce what the court is going to do,” he said. “But none of it actually takes effect until the mandate issues. So, that's what happened [Thursday].”

He said gun control supporters who championed the law claimed that limiting gun purchases would reduce the trafficking of firearms.

“I think that they were coming from a place of limiting Illegal firearms trafficking, and their thought was that in very limited instances, people go out and purchase firearms in bulk with the intention of then backdooring those firearms to people that aren't supposed to have them, classically called a straw purchase,” Sack explained. “So, I think that was the kind of underlying animating impetus of the law. But unfortunately, we already have laws that address that problem and what they did with the gun rationing law is restrict everybody else from exercising their rights.”

Sack said the 9th Circuit Court ruling is noteworthy because the entire court opted not to take up the case after the three-judge panel's decision.

“Usually, what happens when the Second Amendment wins in the 9th Circuit in a three-judge panel is the entire court steps in en banc and smacks that panel down and says, ‘No, as it turns out, we can't ruin our batting a thousand streak of upholding every piece of gun control that we've ever seen.’  So it's definitely noteworthy that we have a Second Amendment win out of California that's being allowed to stand.”

Sack noted his team was confident the law and the United States Constitution were on their side.

“There was no legal foundation to just arbitrarily say you can only buy one gun a month because we say so,” he said. “From a practical perspective, there were all sorts of reasons that it didn't make any sense. I mean, you could imagine a new shooter who wanted to come in and buy a somewhat larger gun to train with and a smaller gun to carry in their purse. Someone who was taking up a new shooting sport who needed to purchase a shotgun and a rifle.

“For the government to arbitrarily say, ‘No, too many guns for you,’ was a big problem. So, we're really thrilled to have this one off the books. It's a nice win, and we continue to chip away at the California gun control behemoth.”

There Won't be a Biden Presidential Library

Don’t be disappointed if you’re anxious to attend the Biden Presidential Library’s opening. It almost certainly will never exist. D.C. swampsters are the record, hoping the public forgets . Its subject will soon be either in the ground or too incapacitated to solicit funding. Biden staffers retaining criminal defense counsel have no interest in a library containing evidence for prosecutors to mine. No reporters from press outlets complicit in enabling chaos are hounding Biden. DOGE revelations testify to his administration's wholesale graft. FBI servers were, unburdening what had been.

There theoretically is a . But it’s only virtual. The closest to a physical library was next to the Corvette. Biden , , “I’ve talked to former presidents – apparently building the library is a gigantic undertaking...And so I haven’t made that decision yet.” A Biden library would only occur if his entourage of grifters sought a vehicle for raising cash, taking a page from Clinton’s and Obama’s playbooks.

Too much Biden administration funny business must never see daylight. Why would the Big Guy showcase incriminating evidence, even that which isn’t a Schedule II controlled substance? The linked headlines below reveal the empty reality.

President Biden is reportedly struggling to raise cash for his planned presidential library as he tries to secure the $200 million to $300 million it will cost. The Biden Presidential Library is in its nascent stages. A site hasn’t been selected, nor has Mr. Biden formed a committee to operate and build the structure. …One reason the library proposal hasn’t advanced is the lack of funds, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. Citing anonymous sources, the newspaper said some “resistance” has come from donors and that he hasn’t been soliciting funds.

Half a continent from Biden’s Delaware, a spectacular presidential library is rising, setting new standards Biden could never approach. Chicago’s -- officially the (and Mausoleum) -- is closing in on a $1,000,000,000 price tag after cost overruns, construction delays, defective concrete, litigation, and DEI initiatives. The initial cost estimate was $350 million. Cue the inevitable army of grifters these projects attract. The center includes a gymnasium and a regulation-size NBA court. The price is especially steep considering it‘s the first fully digital presidential library. The OPC “seek[s] to inspire, empower, and connect the next generation of global leaders to embrace the ‘glorious task’ of making change in their own communities.” Mamdani must have been among those gloriously inspired.

Now that DOGE is foreclosing Democrats’ slush funds, it wouldn’t be surprising if Obama struggles to fund cost overruns. The Daily Mail provides details:

A black-owned concrete subcontractor is suing the structural engineering firm behind the project for $40 million claiming that they were discriminated against. …Valerie Jarrett, raked in a cool $740,000 in a single year, to run the OPC straight into the ground. …Contributions first started drying up back in 2023 when donations plummeted by 50 percent from the year before. “He's arrogant,” one erstwhile backer reportedly said of Obama last week. “There's no quid pro quo because it's a one-way street.”

…Clinton's presidential library reportedly raised more than 10 percent of its $165 million cost from foreign sources [and] the royal family of Saudi Arabia gave $10 million to George H.W. Bush's library. These presidential vanity projects are just vehicles for ex-presidents to keep the party going long after they leave the White House.

As the building emerges, its banality reprises Soviet brutalist or North Koreanarchitecture. It makes one want to visit the brand new Harding Presidential Library and Museum, completed almost a century after his death. Admission is only $16 ($15 for seniors).

Below are the 2023 total compensations (as reported to the IRS to maintain a “nonprofit” status) for the battalion of executives employed by Obama’s library, which won’t open until Spring 2026, five years late. But wait, there’s more. In addition to boasting no less than 15 VPs (including three token males), $27 million in additional salaries were paid that year, along with $1 million in lobbying expenditures (politicians need to eat, and especially drink, too). Top donors include $125 million from Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky and $100 million from Jeff Bezos. Any resemblance between this and a slush fund is coincidental.
  • Valerie Jarrett - Director/CEO $754,948
  • Ammar Rizki - CFO $387,976
  • David Simas - President (End 4/23) $208,804
  • Robbin Cohen - EVP, OPC $649,102
  • Alfreda Bradley-Coar - EVP, Chief Legal & People Officer $439,334
  • Christina Tchen - EVP, Strategy & Impact $423,730
  • Lori T Healey - SVP, Executive Project Officer $393,616
  • Michael Strautmanis - EVP, External Affairs $389,479
  • Laura Lucas Magnuson - EVP, Global Programs $386,939
  • Daniel McGregor - SVP, Development $344,180
  • Charmaine Williams - SVP, Chief Human Resources Officer $318,873
  • Louise Bernard - SVP, Museum Director $311,531
  • Kori Schulman - SVP, Creative & Communications $267,413
  • Jamie-Clare Pickens - VP, Deputy General Counsel $327,721
  • Elisabeth Siciliano - SVP, Strategy, Governance & Risk $311,254
  • Rachel Rauscher - VP, Development Operations $285,961
  • Roark Frankel - Director Of Planning & Delivery $283,615
  • Caitlin Gilmore - VP, Fundraising & Development $276,796
  • Gabriela Fraga - Former SVP, Product & Technology $168,340

The building’s 83-foot-tall stained glass masterpiece echoes Jackson Pollock as updated by Hunter Biden. It allegedly depicts the rising sun. Trigger warning: those of artistic dispositions might be traumatized by viewing it. An inspirational quote from an Obama speech adorns the building’s exterior. Reverberations from Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address are obvious. One wonders if Saint Kamala provided input:

You are America. Unconstrained by habit and convention. Unencumbered by what is, because you’re ready to seize what ought to be. For everywhere in this country, there are first steps to be taken, there’s new ground to cover, there are more bridges to be crossed. And it is you, the young and fearless at heart, the most diverse and educated generation in our history, who the nation is waiting to follow. ...America is not the project of any one person. Because the single-most powerful word in our democracy is the word “We.” “We The People.” “We Shall Overcome.” “Yes We Can.” That word is owned by no one. It belongs to everyone. Oh, what a glorious task we are given, to continually try to improve this great nation of ours.

Obama and Biden antedated Trump, a tough act to precede. Trump sucks up the available historical oxygen, making predecessors seem even smaller. His successors will also face this dilemma. It's difficult to imagine historians poring through Obama's or Biden’s archives to document positive achievements, for either Hope or Change. Democrats can commiserate with the sane: the less recalled from Biden’s administration, the better.

D.C. Is a Total Mess and It Isn’t Just Crime

It’s been nearly one week since President Donald Trump fulfilled his campaign promise to take back Washington, D.C., America’s capital city, and return it to the people of the United States.

"I'm announcing a historic action to rescue our Nation's Capitol from crime, bloodshed, bedlam, and squalor, and worse,” Trump said from the White House briefing room, no doubt receiving cheers from living rooms across the country. “The murder rate in Washington today is higher than that of Bogotá, Colombia," Trump continued. "The number of car thefts has doubled over the past five years, and the number of carjackings has more than tripled."

The move comes five decades after Washington, D.C. was given a chance at self-governance, which was contrary to the U.S. Constitution and the determination that the District would remain a federal jurisdiction.

“Cut it how you like, but the fact will remain: the people of Washington, D.C., have no greater capacity to avoid direct federal rule than did the erstwhile denizens of the Northwest Territory. Per the plain terms of the U.S. Constitution, Congress has plenary power over ‘the Seat of Government of the United States,’ which is not a city, or a state, or even a reservation, but a special district like no other in the land,” National Review aptly explains. “If the national legislature wishes to, it can delegate some of its power to a council or a mayor or an emissary in a pointy hat. But it is not obliged to do so, and if, according to its judgment, any existing deputation has become intolerable, it can abolish or limit it at will. In D.C., home rule is a luxury, a privilege, an indulgence. It is not a right.”

Families can’t visit. It’s embarrassing to host foreign leaders. Young people can’t go out at night. Armed carjackings and murders happen at all hours of the day, in neighborhoods all over the city. Parks are occupied by homeless encampments. Enough.

The police department, one of the most important institutions in any functioning and safe city, is corrupted, cooking the books on data to create an illusion on paper of lower crime. Prosecution is a joke, and an inoperable crime lab put cases on hold for four years.

"A D.C. police commander is under investigation for allegedly making changes to crime statistics in his district. The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed Michael Pulliam was placed on paid administrative leave in mid-May. That happened just a week after Pulliam filed an equal employment opportunity complaint against an assistant chief and the police union accused the department of deliberately falsifying crime data, according to three law enforcement sources familiar with the complaint," local NBC 4 Washington reports. "The union claims police supervisors in the department manipulate crime data to make it appear violent crime has fallen considerably compared to last year."

The response from Democrats and liberals living in Washington, D.C. is one of delusion. Starting with the Mayor.

"Washington, DC is a beautiful city. DC is home to 700K people and welcomes millions every year. We have the #1 park system, fantastic public schools, and a tremendous public transportation system. And we are at a 30-year low in violent crime. It's important for all who live here and visit to know how beautiful our city is and how proud we are of all that we've accomplished," Mayor Mural Bowser said in response to Trump’s take back.

The parks are filthy, and the public school system is a total failure.

In English literacy, an average of just 33 percent of students in grades 3-12 “met or exceeded expectations.” In math, the average sits at just 26 percent. For both, this means more than 70 percent of students are dramatically failing.

The city is a mess. On every level. The experiment of D.C. governing itself, led only by Democrats, has failed.

For years, Washington, D.C. has been a failed state and a disgrace. The Nation’s Capital belongs to all Americans, and thanks to President Donald Trump, it will finally be safer and more prosperous.

Tariff Evasion Bust – U.S. Customs Finds Transnational Shell Companies in Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia and Vietnam

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol has discovered a massive network of Chinese shell companies, set up in Taiwan, South Korea, Vietnam and Indonesia, specifically to avoid U.S. tariffs.

…”Investigations into transshipping are ongoing, the CBP tells FOX Business with monetary recovery likely to grow beyond $400 million”…

Up to 250 shell companies have been identified in the Beijing network with boots on the ground going to look at manufacturing facilities in Southeast Asia that have no manufacturing activity, yet they generate products for shipment to the USA.

CBP is now on the trail of what CTH identified in January of this year with a visit to Vietnam {GO DEEP}.

ASEAN NATIONS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection has busted up a duty-evasion ring attempting to evade President Trump’s tariffs, FOX Business exclusively reports.

The CBP uncovered over $400 million in unpaid trade duties through investigations permitted under the Enforce and Protect Act (EAPA), a tactic used to police and stop illegal transshipments and other methods aimed at defrauding the U.S. government. That figure is expected to rise as the investigation deepens.

[…] A source tells FOX Business’ Edward Lawrence that one of the operations had boots on the ground in Taiwan and Indonesia to look at mattress factories and found that there was no production going on.

Additionally, over half, or $250 million, came from a network of 23 Chinese shell companies which funneled repackaged goods as if they were made in Asian nations, including South Korea, Indonesia and Vietnam, to avoid tariffs.  (read more)

The Hillary Clinton 'Lock Her Up' Chant Could Finally Become Reality With FBI, Patel's 'Smoking Gun' Memo

RedState

The Clinton Foundation Global Initiative is a running joke... but it's not a funny one. As my colleague Becky Noble wrote in early July:

If only America had known exactly what they were getting when, in 1992, they elected rising young Democrat star, former Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton as President. Almost immediately, then-First Lady Hillary Clinton was charged with heading up a task force to reform healthcare. She then went on to become a carpet-bagging Senator from New York, Barack Obama's Secretary of State, and a two-time failed presidential candidate. But in 1997, the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation was formed, and we have been plagued with the Clintons ever since.

Not just America, but the world has been plagued by them. Just look at Haiti to see how much the Clinton Global Initiative "helped" that country, as I once wrote.

No one wants that kind of help, yet this organization still exists, pretending at foreign aid, while what they really are - money-launderers, influence peddlers, and no doubt worse - gets confirmed over and over. My colleague Ward Clark recently reported on protesters who disrupted Hillary Clinton's speech at Columbia University, where he laid out the laundry list of evils perpetrated by Clinton and her corrupt foundation.

If there was any justice in the world, Hillary Clinton would never be able to appear in public again without being beset by protesters. Until the advent of the Bidens, she was one of the most deeply and fundamentally corrupt political figures in the history of the republic; she made Huey Long look like a Boy Scout. She has a sense of entitlement that dwarfs the Oort Cloud. She richly deserves to be challenged at every appearance.

Honestly, though, if people wanted to protest an appearance by the former New York Senator, I have a much better list of topics on which to shout:

Note that the sources from most of these are the Washington Post and Politico - hardly right-wing publications.

One more thing: Let's not forget her horrible handling of the Benghazi attacks in 2012, in which she let four Americans, including an ambassador, be murdered by terrorists.

So, these revelations from the records that FBI Director Kash Patel declassified are nothing new to honest journalists who have covered the Clinton corruption for years, but were never able to access those smoking gun receipts to undergird the reporting. That is no longer the case. Not only are there receipts, but a timeline connecting the previously missing dots of WHO and WHERE.

"Shut it down!" then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates is quoted as demanding in the detailed timeline of political impediments that agents in New York City, Little Rock, Ark., and Washington D.C. reported.

The agents tried to get the help of federal prosecutors to determine whether or what crimes occurred while Hillary Clinton served as Secretary of State, most notably, because at that time, her family foundation solicited hundreds of millions of dollars from foreign and U.S. interests with business before her department.

The timeline — written by a DOJ lawyer assigned to the FBI under former bureau Director James Comey — was recently secured by top aides to Patel along with several corroborating internal emails and was obtained by Just the News. Together, they make clear that both the DOJ and former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe placed significant impediments in front of agents who believed they had evidence to justify a public integrity criminal case.

The declassified timeline revealed that as early as February 2016, the Justice Department “indicated they would not be supportive of an FBI investigation.” The timeline also shows that, in mid-February 2016, McCabe ordered that “no overt investigative steps” were allowed to be taken in the Clinton Foundation investigation “without his approval” — a command he allegedly repeated numerous times over the coming months.

The Declassified Timeline on Clinton Foundation Investigation is that smoking gun. It finally confirms the fingerprints of names that we knew, starting with FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who in 2016 requested a detailed briefing about the Clinton Foundation investigations in three states. Right after that briefing, Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates issued the command to "shut it down," and the investigations, including one involving emails found on disgraced Congressman and accused pedophile Anthony Weiner, were tabled.

Essentially, Obamas DOJ, and then Biden-Harris' created a protection racket to shield the Clintons from prosecution, and then tried to bury the evidence.

The roadblocks just kept coming, the timeline shows, to the great frustration of the agents and the U.S. attorney's office in Little Rock, which had moved to a fully predicated criminal investigation.

Patel's discovery of the memo and related emails comes at a sensitive time as Attorney General Pam Bondi has approved the use of a strike force and a grand jury to investigate whether law enforcement and intelligence abuses over the last decade amounted to a criminal conspiracy to protect Democrats like Clinton and Joe Biden while inflicting harm on Trump and his followers.

Officials told Just the News that DOJ also has secure potential cooperation from current and former prosecutors and agents who were willing to assist any investigation in possible obstruction of the Clinton probes.

The majority of Americans are already suffering from investigation fatigue, and assume we have heard this song before. But mull over this:

First, we have always known some of the WHO, along with the WHAT and WHY of these scandals. The pivotal pieces missing, and what is required in bringing a case to trial, is the definitive WHO, with that WHERE, and HOW, which undergirds the voluminous facts (WHAT) that have been thrown at us for over eight years now.

Now that Patel is doing the work of unearthing this buried treasure that serve to not only connect those dots, but reveal which individuals acted where, and the fingerprints on the smoking gun, these findings can be presented before a grand jury for criminal prosecution.

Second, the slow, "drip, drip, drip," is sometimes more destabilizing than rapid deployment. McCabe, Yates, Obama, Clinton, et al. have no idea what will be released next, so every one of them is always on their heels and unsure on where exactly to attack.

CIA stooges John Brennan, James Clapper, Susan Miller, and even former President Barack Obama are squirming and oozing fear as DNI Tulsi Gabbard slowly trots out the Russia Collusion Hoax findings and her allusions of more to come. Hopefully, the same thing will happen with this bunch, and maybe flags will be put on their passports.

Third, when hunting the biggest game, it requires silence, strategy, and patience. When the hammer does fall and arrests are made, it will be at a time when none of them see it coming. These declassifications of records could be the metaphorical bullets used to finally take down the Clinton Foundation Global Initiative, along with Hillary Clinton and her egregious family. When that occurs, we will be here for it and reporting it.

Here is some of what Just the News' John Solomon laid out on Real America's Voice.

The Left Is Checking Under the Bed for Tom Homan: 'Trump Doesn’t Have a Limitation on His Authority'

RedState

President Donald Trump’s ‘Border Czar’ Tom Homan, officially the White House Executive Associate Director of Enforcement and Removal Operations, took members of the mainstream media by surprise on Wednesday, when, as he strode by the White House, he came when they beckoned for a few questions. The answers he provided appeared to leave them stunned to such an extent that there were no further follow-ups.

The brief interaction with Homan, carried by CSPAN, came in response to a question about the crackdown on crime in Washington, D.C., ordered by President Trump. A reporter was heard to ask first, “Can we ask about the crime crackdown so far, how you've seen it go in the first 48 hours, if you will, and also what are we looking at in terms of next steps?”

Homan answered brusquely,

“Look, I know they've taken some bad people off the street, but in addition to that, I think it sends a strong message of consequences. I mean deterrence. I think a lot of the criminals are staying off the street because they know there's an increased presence of law enforcement. They're going to take zero tolerance, zero tolerance on criminal activity in DC, as the president said. So I think it works both ways. Number one, taking bad guys off the street, actually arresting some folks. Second of all, the deterrence message is keeping people off the street from doing violent things so they know there's an uptick in law enforcement.”

The second question came with a journalist asking, “Do you fear that if the timeframe is that after 30 days, ‘Hey, our authority is over…’ that then these criminals that took off the streets might come right back?”

Homan’s response was immediate and direct; he told the press that “The president's authority is never over. The president's going to do what he has to do to make this country safe again in every city in this nation. Anything else? That was easy.”

Only days before the impromptu press conference, the White House official X account shared a meme video of Homan appearing similar to the ‘Baby Sun’ character from the children’s television series ‘Teletubbies’ rising over the U.S.-Mexico border wall while saying “I'm going to say if you're in the country illegally you shouldn't feel comfortable. Absolutely not. I won’t feel comfortable if I’m in a country illegally. But I mean, for me, I don't feel comfortable if I'm not in a country legally. If I'm in some other country illegally I'm not really comfortable. You shouldn’t be comfortable, either because when you enter this country illegally you have committed a crime you are criminal.”

Between the White House’s light-hearted trolling that is likely nightmare fuel for open-border illegal immigration advocates and Homan’s naturally direct answer Wednesday, it seems fairly certain that the Border Czar is living rent-free in many left-leaning minds, and that many more are likely checking for him under the bed tonight.
