The Biden Hangover

That egregious crime was committed by former President Joe Biden and Democrats on Capitol Hill. In 2022, they passed the deceptively named “Inflation Reduction Act,” costing taxpayers more than $1 trillion and flooding the market with cheap money. Rightfully, not a single Republican voted for it.

This caused inflation to skyrocket, increasing the price of goods by an average of 20 percent and making it impossible for wages to keep up with the increase in prices for American families.

Fast forward to today and prices are still high with Biden’s economic policies still in place.

Over at the White House, President Donald Trump and his team have urged lawmakers to get their economic agenda passed as quickly as possible, including promises made on the campaign trail like no tax on tips, social security and more. Most importantly, they’re advocating for a permanent extension of the Trump tax cuts, which benefited the majority of the country and sparked economic growth back in 2017.

“Ever since President Trump signed the Republican-sponsored tax bill in December 2017, independent analyses have consistently found that a large majority of Americans would owe less because of the law. Preliminary data based on tax filings has shown the same. Most people got a tax cut,” The New York Times reported at the time. “The Tax Policy Center estimates that 65 percent of people paid less under the law and that just 6 percent paid more. (The rest saw little change to their taxes.)”

During his joint address to Congress this week, Trump called on Republicans and Democrats to come together and ensure Americans aren’t getting a tax hike next year but instead, economic growth to get the country back on track.

“The next phase of our plan to deliver the greatest economy in history is for this Congress to pass tax cuts for everybody. They’re in there. They’re waiting for you to vote," Trump said. “It’s a very, very big part of our plan. We had tremendous success in our first term, with a very big part of our plan, we’re seeking permanent income tax cuts all across the board. And to get urgently needed relief to Americans hit especially hard by inflation, I’m calling for no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax on Social Security benefits for our great seniors.”

“As part of our tax cuts, we want to cut taxes on domestic production and all manufacturing. And just as we did before, we will provide 100 percent expensing. It will be retroactive to Jan. 20, 2025. And it was one of the main reasons why our tax cuts were so successful in our first term, giving us the most successful economy in the history of our country,” he continued.

Until Trump’s agenda is implemented, Americans will continue to suffer from the horrible and damaging policies of the Biden administration and his Democrat allies. Welcome to the Biden hangover. It’s time for Congress to get the country sobered up and onto the new Golden Age of America.

Victor Davis Hanson: The Joe Biden 'Now They Tell Us' Phenomenon

Trump Has Cornered the Market on ‘Hope and Change’

When Barack Obama ran for president, he articulated few policy specifics but promised heaping spoonfuls of “hope and change.”  Combined with his rockstar celebrity and appearance as George W. Bush’s diametrical opposite, Obama’s vague pledge was enough to win him the White House (and a Nobel Prize).

In practice, Obama’s “hope and change” just meant forcing workers to buy expensive government healthcare; starting new wars in Africa, Ukraine, and the Middle East; using the IRS to target political enemies; and harnessing the Patriot Act to spy on American citizens.  “Hope and change” brought inflation, debt, bloodshed, division, and truckloads of more of the same.  (No wonder the Bushes and Obamas are such good friends and the Cheneys enthusiastically endorsed Kamala Harris!)

For the longest time, I thought Obama had so thoroughly tarnished the words “hope” and “change” that I couldn’t imagine anyone picking them up and using them again with the American people.  But that’s exactly what President Trump has done.  Because he is first and foremost a businessman, Trump realized that Obama had left a valuable asset just lying on the ground.  “Hope” and “change” are sometimes required to save a struggling nation.  But if they are not backed with concrete plans, they are worthless.  Real change that inspires real hope requires work and dedication.  It is not enough to draw up a blueprint.  A leader must take those designs and build a new world.  Blueprints are not meant to be framed on a wall; they are meant to be covered in coffee stains, mud, and a little blood.  Tangible results require grand vision and indefatigable purpose.

President Trump’s address to Congress on Tuesday night was filled with grand visions for America’s future.  He spoke about making American government smaller and Americans’ paychecks bigger.  He talked about bringing investment dollars back into the United States.  He described his plans for an industrial and manufacturing resurgence that will return blue-collar jobs once sacrificed on the globalist altar of so-called “free trade.”  He explained how American self-sufficiency is essential for both national security and national prosperity.  He encouraged Americans to reclaim their reputations as world-class innovators, builders, adventurers, and explorers.  He asked Americans to dream big dreams and then to turn those dreams into reality.  In essence, he insisted that this country’s best days are still ahead.  President Trump may never have uttered Obama’s famous campaign slogan, but those ideas were nonetheless hanging in the air: be hopeful, America, because much will soon change for the better.

The president’s approach to governing is unmistakably different in his second term.  When he arrived in Washington in 2017, he had few political allies.  Republicans and Democrats despised both him and his MAGA movement for change.  Barack Obama, John Brennan, James Comey, Susan Rice, and so many other saboteurs left landmines all around D.C. to hamper Trump’s efforts and precipitate his removal from office.  Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell rebuffed Trump’s policies and undermined him at every turn.  The president tried to build bridges by including Establishment favorites in his Cabinet, inviting Pelosi and Schumer to find common ground, and even foregoing criminal investigations into Hillary Clinton for her role in defrauding the American people with the Russia collusion hoax.

President Trump chose to forgive and forget, and the Uniparty in D.C. repaid his kindness with the Mueller Inquisition, endless investigations, and two nonsensical impeachments.  Mitt Romney — who never misses an opportunity to stab Republican voters in the back — insisted that evidence of Joe Biden’s quid-pro-quo corruption in Ukraine was no big deal but that President Trump’s acknowledgment of Biden’s likely crimes somehow made Trump unfit for office.  For choosing reconciliation, President Trump received from the Deep State insanity, insubordination, and treason.  It was a bad deal but an important lesson.

In 2020, the Establishment goons got what they wanted.  They used COVID as a convenient pretext to inject anonymous and unverified mail-in ballots into the election.  Somehow, one of the least inspiring presidential candidates in American history (Joe Biden) “won” more votes than much more popular candidates had before.  Anyone who pointed out that the math didn’t make sense was censored and threatened with professional sanctions.  Americans were told that Joe Biden received ten million more votes than Democrat-demigod Obama, that it was perfectly normal for Biden to lose nearly every bellwether county by double-digits but still come out on top, and that there was nothing strange about Democrat-controlled jurisdictions in battleground states “counting” ballots for four extra days.

When hundreds of thousands of Americans showed up in D.C. on January 6, 2021, to protest what was clearly a stolen election, the Establishment redefined free speech, public assembly, and dissent as forms of “insurrection.”  Unarmed grandparents and patriotic veterans were labeled “domestic terrorists.”  The Deep State’s scheme was disgustingly obvious: lock up Trump and his supporters and reclaim total control over D.C.

A funny thing happened after the Deep State’s removal of President Trump and installation of puppet Joe Biden: rather than backing down, Trump and his MAGA supporters became only more committed.  Had the Establishment not interfered in the 2020 election, Trump’s second term would have already ended.  He would have no doubt scored some victories during the last four years, but D.C. saboteurs would have continued undermining him, too.  Who knows how many more Mueller Inquisitions, fake impeachments, and globalist-engineered crises we would have already endured.  Certainly a hundred Tweedle-Vindmans would have continued leaking to the press, subverting lawful Executive orders, and working inside the White House to topple President Trump.

However excruciating these last four years have been under the Deep State’s hellish presidency (with Dementia Joe propped up as its titular head), the people who stole the 2020 election created the necessary conditions for producing the lean and mean fighting force that the Trump administration has become.  Even though the mainstream press portrayed him as a villain right from the start, Trump came into office in 2017 as Mr. Nice Guy.  He was interested in making deals, strengthening the United States, and helping the American people.  In 2025, things are different.  The president is still clear in his vision, but his attitude has totally changed: adversaries will either have to get onboard or find themselves shoved out of the way.

During the four years of Biden’s illegitimate presidency, five factors transformed Donald Trump into a man on fire: (1) The Deep State harassed and jailed his voters.  (2) The Deep State tried to put him in prison.  (3) The Deep State went after his friends and family.  (4) The Deep State embraced censorship and political persecution.  (5) The Deep State attacked the country with “Green New Deal” inflation and open borders.  These unrelenting assaults against him and the nation he loves created within him a sheer determination that few have seen.

Then a sixth factor forged superhuman resolve: after the Deep State did all it could to incite would-be assassins to strike Trump down, God Almighty spared his life.  President Trump looked death in the eye and came out stronger for it.  He knows he has been spared for a reason, and he will do anything to serve His purpose.

You put all that together, and you’ve got a helluva lot more than wispy calls for “hope and change.”  You’ve got a man with ice water running through his veins.  You’ve got a leader willing to do whatever it takes.  You’ve got a rock unwilling to budge.  You’ve got a builder who demands that things get done.

Listening to President Trump explain everything that his administration intends to accomplish left me with a sense of déjà vu: perhaps we are the ones we’ve been waiting for.  I think that’s true.  So let’s get to work.

Five Ukrainian Fables ~ VDH

Fable one: Trump is appeasing Russia?

Who wiped out the Wagner group in Syria? Who sold offensive weapons to Ukraine first? Who warned Germany not to become dependent on the Russian Nord Stream II deal?

Who withdrew from an unfair missile deal with the Russians? Who cajoled and berated NATO members to meet their military investment promises made following the 2014 invasion of Ukraine?

In contrast, who originally conceived a Russian "reset" in 2009? Who publicly virtue-signaled pushing the red "reset" button in Geneva with the current Russian Minister Sergey Lavrov?

Which ex-European leader got a million euros a year working for Russian energy companies?

Of the last four presidents, under whose watch did Putin not invade another country?

Which American president, in hot-mic style, offered to (and did) dismantle U.S.-Eastern Europe missile defense plans in exchange for temporary Putin quietude ("space") to aid his 2012 reelection?

Fable two: A trade war?

President Donald Trump is not wildly slapping tariffs on Europeans.

He is simply saying that 1945 is now 80 years past and that the asymmetrical tariffs that Europe imposes on U.S. imports should be corrected. The massive trade surpluses Europe accumulates each year should give way to fairer, more balanced trade.

If Europe does not want tariffs, then simply calibrate its own tariffs on what America places on European imported goods, and work down jointly to zero tariffs on both sides.

Fable three: America is bullying Europe?

The U.S. does not actively interfere in European elections and politics.

In 2024, Europeans, especially the British Laborites, bragged about sending over campaign "volunteers" to work against Trump and, earlier, his conservative predecessors.

British subject Christopher Steele sought to sabotage an entire American 2016 election with a falsified "dossier."

The Ukrainian ambassador in 2016 wrote an op-ed all but endorsing Hillary Clinton and trashing her opponent.

In September 2024, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was flown in on a Biden-provided U.S. military jet to Scranton, Pennsylvania -- at a pivotal time in the most pivotal swing state -- to surround himself with Democrat politicos.

His media-frenzied presence signaled a partisan campaign theme that a Kamala Harris win and the continuance of massive Democrat aid to Ukraine would ensure manufacturing jobs, such as the artillery shell factory he selected to visit.

As to NATO, Trump's pressure from 2017 to 2021 finally pushed more NATO nations to rearm. But even 11 years after promising to invest a mere 2 percent of GDP in defense, nine of the 32 members still have not complied.

Fable four: Negotiating with Putin is selling out?

In the long history of Western diplomacy with mass-murdering tyrants, Putin doesn't even rank among the worst. Just ask his former reset partners Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

FDR fueled mass-murdering "Uncle Joe" Stalin's Red Army as a way to defeat Nazi Germany.

Richard Nixon flattered and cajoled the greatest mass murderer in history, Mao Zedong, to triangulate China against the Soviet Union.

Ronald Reagan offered to share missile defense expertise with Soviet Russia.

Europeans have hosted almost every Palestinian murderous terrorist leader, as a way either of deflecting terrorism from their own shores or emphasizing their general loathing of Israel.

Fable five: Europe is going to save Ukraine?

Europe rushed to congratulate and celebrate with Zelenskyy after his pre-planned White House blow-up. They are loudly announcing that a supposedly isolationist and appeasing U.S. -- which has sent more aid to Ukraine than all nearby European nations combined -- will now be supplanted by a "new" muscular and rearmed Europe.

We sincerely hope so.

But on every recent international moral question -- ganging up on a lone Israel to appease terrorist forces in the Middle East, standing up to China's mercantilism, neo-imperialism, and domestic oppression of minorities, or Russia's prior 2008 and 2014 invasions -- European outrage has been muted, real consequences nonexistent.

We are now witnessing European heads of state sending the same old virtue signaling support for the brave Zelenskyy, who supposedly spoke truth to power to the mean U.S. Orange Man.

But where does such performance art lead after the cult hero Zelenskyy had gnawed the hand that gorged him?

To multitudes of European tanks, skies full of European jets, and division after division of crack European infantry now heading east to "back up" Ukraine -- led on horseback by its new Joan of Arc, Ursula von der Leyen?

Aside from all the present posturing and mock-heroics, the only way to save Ukraine is for the U.S. president, Donald Trump, to reflect joint Ukrainian, American, and European interests in stopping the war, forcing Putin as far back eastward as possible where he started in 2022, and creating a credible deterrent along with a DMZ/industrial corridor tripwire to stop another 2008, 2014, and 2022 invasion.

Anything else is empty carnival barking.

If The Biden Family Business Was Built On Anything But Access, It Would Be Thriving

Based on his latest court filings, it’s clear that Hunter’s ability to rake in the big bucks without the ‘big guy’ has vanished.

It’s not lost on conservatives how far America’s legacy media have gone to cover up former President Joe Biden’s corrupt family business dealings.

When they weren’t outright ignoring bombshell developments documenting Joe’s involvement in the family’s money-making operation, these so-called “journalists” were more than happy to go along with the Biden White House’s talking points that the then-president had nothing to do with his son Hunter’s business affairs — despite former business associates, IRS and FBI whistleblowers, bank recordstext messagesemails, reporting from a “highly credible” informant, written checks, and even Joe himself indicating otherwise.

There’s no proof that Hunter making bank from business associates is about selling access to his father,” or so the phony media narrative went.

But if what the media said is true (it’s not), then how are Americans supposed to square Hunter’s newfound money problems?

On Thursday, the New York Post reported on a recent court filing by the younger Biden’s attorneys revealing that their client is in a deep financial hole. According to the report, “The embattled former first son, 55, said he has managed to sell just one piece of art … since December 2023” that was priced at $36,000 — a measly amount when compared to the roughly $1.5 million Hunter amassed throughout his dad’s 2020 campaign and subsequent presidency.

[Hunter Biden Art Buyer Revealed As A Major Democrat Donor And Joe Biden Appointee

The filings — which request the court to drop Hunter’s “laptop hacking lawsuit” against a former Trump administration official — also reportedly revealed that sales for the former First Son’s 2021 memoir, Beautiful Things, have also plummeted by more than 50 percent over the course of 2023.

“Given the positive feedback and reviews of my artwork and memoir, I was expecting to obtain paid speaking engagements and paid appearances, but that has not happened,” said Hunter, whose lawyers disclosed that their client “has suffered a significant downturn in his income and has significant debt in the millions of dollars range.”

So, what exactly happened in late 2023 that precipitated Hunter’s sudden financial woes?

For those who recall, December 2023 was the month in which Special Counsel David Weiss levied nine federal charges against Joe’s son for tax-related crimes. However, as The Federalist’s Tristan Justice noted, these charges did not include anything related to foreign-influence peddling activities that could implicate his father and came “more than four months after a plea deal [sought by his dad’s Justice Department] was derailed by a federal judge.”

By that point, congressional Republicans had uncovered troves of records implicating Joe and Hunter in the Biden family’s business dealings. For all intents and purposes, the indictment was nothing more than a slap on the wrist to cover up Joe’s involvement in his family’s operations.

But Hunter’s ability to sell the Biden family “brand” and access to his father to potential foreign business partners would only deteriorate from there.

Following his disastrous June 2024 debate performance against Donald Trump, the media could no longer hide Biden’s cognitive decline from the American public. With his approval rating in the toilet, Democrats began to see the 46th president as a political liability that could cost them the White House and Congress in the November election.

Their worries set into motion the silent intraparty coup that ultimately forced Biden to drop his reelection bid and produced Kamala Harris as the Democrats’ 2024 nominee. Much to the party’s dismay, Americans found Harris just as distasteful as Biden, resulting in Trump’s return to the White House and Republicans taking both chambers of Congress.

In an apparent effort to conceal his involvement in his family’s foreign business dealings, Joe took the unpreceded step of issuing blanket pardons for Hunter and other members of the Biden clan for potential crimes dating back to January 2014. And by Jan. 20, 2025, the Biden family empire had collapsed.

Based on his latest court filings, it’s clear that Hunter’s ability to rake in the big bucks without the “big guy” has vanished. With his father no longer wielding the levers of power in Washington, major money shakers, both foreign and domestic, no longer see any reason to invest in the former First Son’s escapades.

The legacy press’s willingness to censor stories that don’t fit their preferred narrative will undoubtedly mean these developments won’t get the attention they deserve. But for Americans who care for the truth, they’re further confirmation of the Biden family influence-peddling scheme they were repeatedly told never existed.

Ex-AOC Aide Sets Sights on Pelosi’s Seat in Bold Primary Challenge

Sarah Arnold reporting for Townhall

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) faces an unexpected primary challenge from a former aide to Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). The challenger, who previously worked closely with the “Squad” member, is positioning himself as a progressive alternative to the long-time Democratic leader, calling for fresh leadership and a stronger push for bold reforms. With Pelosi having held her seat for decades, this challenge signals a potential shift in the district's political landscape and sets the stage for a high-stakes race in the upcoming election.

Saikat Chakrabarti announced his bid to challenge Pelosi for her seat, which she has held for nearly 45 years. In his campaign pitch, he cited concerns with new government regulations and an “alternative vision” to President Donald Trump’s form of government.

“After serving as her campaign manager and first chief of staff, I returned to San Francisco where for five years I’ve led a policy think tank that develops comprehensive solutions to the problems that both America and San Francisco face,” Chakrabarti wrote on X. “Now, I want to bring those solutions to Congress. I’m going to run a very different kind of campaign than most. Instead of spending hours each day doing ‘call time’ with big money donors — I’m going to spend every day talking with voters. I know! What a radical idea.”

He suggested he would begin at the grassroots by holding online meetings with voters as he prepares to campaign for California’s 12th Congressional District.

“Watching Trump and Elon freely unleash chaos in their illegal seizure of government, it’s become clear to me that the Democratic Party needs new leadership,” he said. “I’m going to find every way I can to talk to everybody that I possibly can in San Francisco and get my message to them directly.”

While Chakrabarti said he respects Pelosi's accomplishments, the 39-year-old argued that the United States is very different from when she first began her career in Washington, D.C. Pelosi has previously said that the Democratic Party doesn’t need to change.

Pelosi stepped down as speaker in 2022 but has since filed paperwork to run for re-election in 2026. However, she has not publicly said whether she will seek another term.

ActBlue Fundraising Platform in Turmoil As Executives Resign and the Last Lawyer Has His Email Shut Off

streiff  reporting  for  RedState

The progressive fundraising powerhouse ActBlue, which has funded Democrat candidates and causes for two decades, has entered a death spiral as executives flee and investigations mount.

ActBlue, the online fund-raising organization that powers Democratic candidates, has plunged into turmoil, with at least seven senior officials resigning late last month and a remaining lawyer suggesting he faced internal retaliation.

...

According to the letter from the ActBlue unions, which has not been previously reported and was confirmed as authentic by three people briefed on its contents, the senior staff departures began on Feb. 21. That day, ActBlue’s customer service and partnerships directors, who had both worked at the group for more than a decade, left, according to the unions’ letter.

“Now, my primary mission is rest,” Alyssa Twomey, ActBlue’s departing vice president for customer service, wrote on social media. “After 14+ years of living and breathing all things ActBlue, it’s time for a reset. I’m taking an intentional pause before setting course for my next adventure.”

The next week, several other senior officials left, including the associate general counsel — who was the highest-ranking legal officer at ActBlue — the assistant research director, a human resources official, the chief revenue officer and an engineer who had spent 16 years building and maintaining the electronic pipes through which the group’s donations flow.

As these people left, Zain Ahmad, who was the last remaining lawyer in the ActBlue general counsel’s office, wrote in an internal Slack message on Feb. 26 that his access to email and other internal platforms had been cut off and that other messages he had posted in Slack had been deleted, according to a screenshot obtained by The New York Times. Mr. Ahmad is now on leave from ActBlue, according to a person briefed on the group’s staffing.

What could be happening that would cause most of the executives and all but one of the lawyers to flee a sweet gig? Former RedState colleague Bill Shipley has some insights.

I have no information on this subject but ....

In my experience, this kind of thing starts to happen a large businesses with shady operating practices when law enforcement starts to make contact with senior officials about want to ask them some questions.

That leads to lawyers getting involved.

That leads to lawyers telling their clients that it would be in their interest to part ways with the enterprise.

During the 2024 campaign, we began to see a lot of suspicious activity that indicated federal election campaign violations on a Biblical scale.

People who never contributed to any campaign suddenly discovered they had sent hundreds of dollars to Democrat candidates.

ActBlue, the Democratic fundraising platform that has collected millions of dollars for Kamala Harris, has been named in a bombshell racketeering lawsuit by a Wisconsin Republican strategist who alleges his identity was stolen to make at least 385 fraudulent donations to left-wing causes — including to the Harris Victory Fund.

Mark Block, former chief of staff to Republican 2012 presidential candidate Herman Cain, alleges that a total of $884.38 given in his name and without his knowledge between May and October was designed to circumvent federal election law and may be part of a larger scam involving tens of thousands of unwitting donors.

The individual donations were all under $200, meaning that they did not have to be reported to the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

...

Experts working for the committee used AI to analyze more than 200 million FEC records spanning the last 14 years and identified suspicious trends, including hundreds of $2.50 donations from the same individual, donations in amounts far greater than the donor could afford, and unusually frequent donations from elderly people or first-time contributors.

Further investigation revealed that ActBlue accepted donations from prepaid credit cards and foreign credit cards. They even accepted contributions from countries under sanctions.

Nineteen Republican attorneys general launched an investigation into ActBlue's fundraising practices.

For more details on the background, read Vise Tightens Around Democrat Fundraising Site ActBlue As Evidence Mounts of Foreign Interference – RedState.

There is another interesting twist: the exodus of senior staff began on February 21.

ActBlue probably will not survive this. The flight of its senior staff and legal department indicates potential felony indictments on the horizon. A lot of hostile eyeballs will be watching ActBlue's donations very carefully using sophisticated data analysis tools. ActBlue's brand will be associated with fraud and lawbreaking far beyond what we associate with the usual Democrat-run organization. I'm sure WinRed, the less effective Republican clone of ActBlue, will be found to have similar problems. All of this is sure to lead to increased monitoring of online fundraising by the FEC and the Department of Justice. And in November 2026, we'll see just how many real people donate to Democrats.

Lawmakers Call on Trump Administration To End Biden-Era Afghan Aid Programs Sending Billions to the Taliban

‘People don’t realize that we are sending billions and billions of dollars to Afghanistan — a country we have pulled out of — which is now being overseen by our enemies,’ Congressman Tim Burchett tells the Sun.

As the Trump administration works to cut unnecessary government spending, lawmakers in Washington are hoping to draw President Trump’s attention to the billions of taxpayer dollars that they claim are falling into the hands of the Taliban.

“Americans are done watching their money flow to terrorists. They want it stamped out, and they want it stamped out now,” a congressman from Tennessee, Tim Burchett, proclaimed last month ahead of a press conference on his No Tax Dollars for Terrorists Act.

The legislation, which was originally introduced in December 2023, calls on the State Department to ensure that American financial aid in Afghanistan is not going to the Taliban. Mr. Burchett was first made aware of the problem by a former United States Army officer known by the pseudonym “Legend.” He traveled to Kabul during the American withdrawal to help get out Afghans who had helped the Americans. “Legend,” who was of Afghan descent, discovered the Taliban’s scheme.

“People don’t realize that we are sending billions and billions of dollars to Afghanistan — a country we have pulled out of — which is now being overseen by our enemies,” Mr. Burchett tells the Sun. “They steal our money and we just keep giving it to them.”

Although the House passed his bill last year, the Senate Majority leader, Senator Schumer, never brought it to the floor for a vote. Now, with Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency taking a close look at government spending, Mr. Burchett hopes that his bill will be revived. “There’s attention on it now,” he tells the Sun.

The New York Sun first raised the curtain on the issue back in 2022, after images of stacks of $100 bills were posted on social media by the central bank of Afghanistan. The cash payments — estimated to total $40 million weekly — had been sent by the Biden administration to help the Afghan people gear up for the winter. Sources, including Legend, told the Sun that the cash had been diverted to Taliban coffers.

Now, after more than two years, a presidential handover, and billions of dollars in aid, the National Resistance Front for Afghanistan — a group opposed to the Taliban — says that the sum total of the covert payments is even higher.

“It’s been widely reported that the Biden administration was sending shipments of U.S. dollars to Kabul on a weekly basis,” the head of foreign relations for the National Resistance Front, Ali Nazary, tells the Sun. “But our intelligence unit has discovered the Taliban received an additional $446 million last year from the Biden administration under Operation Enduring Sentinel” — supposedly a counter-terror operation. The sum could not be independently verified by the Sun.

“Enduring Sentinel” was launched in 2021 by the Department of Defense to combat emerging terror threats in Afghanistan and to engage with partners in Central and South Asia to promote regional stability. Part of the operation included directing aid to various non-humanitarian assistance projects, like national disease surveillance, rural water sanitation and hygiene, even women’s scholarship endowments.

The only problem? Many of these groups are “fake organizations,” Mr. Nazary tells the Sun. He says that the Taliban, using techniques of terror groups worldwide, inject themselves into existing NGOs and take over their advisory boards. “Of course, though, some of them just don’t exist,” Mr. Nazary notes.

Take, for example, the Women’s Scholarship Endowment group, which, according to Operation Enduring Sentinel, “aims to assist Afghan women in obtaining a university or graduate education either in-person or online in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.” The American government, according to an official report for the operation, forked over $60 million for the effort.

The program, however, seems to have ignored the Taliban’s ban on women in universities in 2022. “Do we really think the Taliban would have such a program? It doesn’t make any sense based on the realities inside of Afghanistan,” Mr. Nazary tells the Sun. The Women’s Scholarship Endowment group has not responded to the Sun’s request for comment.

His group’s intelligence unit compiled a list of some 38 NGOs it claims are serving as fronts for the terror group. Mr. Nazary declined to provide additional details regarding the source of the intelligence, noting that it’s “sensitive information.”

Mr. Nazary’s findings appear to line up with a report published in May 2024 by the American agency that oversees American aid to Afghanistan, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction. The agency surveyed 144 nongovernmental organizations and public international organizations in Afghanistan that receive and administer American aid. Of the 65 that responded, 58 percent — or 38 in total — reported paying taxes, fees, duties, or utilities to the Taliban-controlled government.

Mr. Nazary says that the National Resistance Front campaigned to end the flow of aid throughout the Biden administration, but its efforts were disregarded. “The Biden administration just allowed Afghanistan to turn again into a haven for jihadism and terrorism,” Mr. Nazary tells the Sun. “And now we’re seeing that these groups are infiltrating Europe and the United States.”

Mr. Nazary argues that sending financial aid “has just made the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan worse.” His group suggests that the American government work with the Afghan opposition party to “find a policy, an approach, that can benefit both the United States and Afghanistan’s people.”

He is hopeful  that the Trump administration will take up the issue. After all, Mr. Trump has called for the Taliban to return American military equipment that was left behind in Afghanistan and has raised concern over America’s humanitarian aid. “We’re seeing strong signs that it will be cut off,” he says.
