‘Must stop’: AG nominee rips targeting of parents as ‘domestic terrorists’

Matt Lamb - Associate Editor

Pam Bondi’s predecessor, Merrick Garland, oversaw the targeting of parents who objected to sexualized and racialized curriculum

The targeting of parents, pro-lifers, and Latin Mass attendees “will stop” and “must stop” according to attorney general nominee Pam Bondi.

The former Florida attorney general is testifying today in the first of two hearings on her nomination to lead the Department of Justice. Under Attorney General Merrick Garland, law enforcement targeted concerned parents and citizens who objected to sexual and racial identity politics in the classroom.

The FBI office in Richmond, Va. also labeled Catholics who prefer the older Latin Mass as extremists. The DOJ also came under scrutiny for perceived targeting of peaceful pro-life dads who protested outside of abortion facilities.

This “weaponization,” “will stop” according to Bondi. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, asked Bondi for comment on the current problems at the DOJ.

“Going after parents at a school board meeting has got to stop,” Bondi said. “Sending informants into Catholic churches must stop,” she said.

Lee said Bondi’s answers were reassuring and he supports his nomination.

The DOJ collaborated with the National School Boards Association to write the memo which labeled parents and other citizens as domestic terrorists.

The memo prompted a prosecutor in Montana to dream up and circulate a list of potential federal crimes to use to go after American citizens.

The NSBA subsequently lost more than 15 members after comparing parents to terrorists.

Announcement: The Babylon Bee To Shut Down As There Will Be Nothing To Make Fun Of During The Perfect Trump Administration

Dear readers,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce we have decided to close the doors here at The Babylon Bee. Satire requires targets worthy of mockery to persist. And unfortunately, with Donald Trump taking office this year, there will be nothing to make fun of.

There are so many wonderful things about Trump, but his one flaw is he is not good for comedy. A smoothly running, efficient administration that does what it says, fulfills its promises, and abides by a strict code of ethics simply provides no worthy targets for valid satire.

What are we supposed to do - make fun of Trump when he closes the border and ushers in a new age of prosperity? What about when he ends all wars his first day in office? Or when he makes good on his promise to purchase Greenland and annex Canada, reestablishing America on the global stage as the dominant empire - are we supposed to crack a joke then?

No. It would be inappropriate. And worse still, it wouldn't be funny. There is nothing funny about perfection.

We had a good run making fun of Biden, and we did our best to ensure that Kamala Harris would win the election. It was our last hope to have terribly incompetent people in government to make fun of. But alas - when we woke up on November 6 and saw that Harris had lost the election, we knew our days were numbered.

We are so grateful for the support you've given us over the years and pray that you'll remember us fondly as you enter into the paradise that is a second Trump term. You're welcome, America.

In Christ,
Kyle Mann, Editor-in-Chief

How Can Trump Overcome the Resistance?

recent poll confirming that nearly half of federal government employees plan to resist a second Trump administration should alarm anyone who values the integrity of constitutional governance.  For those of us who have served in public office, the data aren’t surprising.  Bureaucratic resistance — quiet or overt — has long been an entrenched feature of Washington’s political landscape.  Yet the scale and brazenness of defiance revealed in this survey highlights a broader threat: a federal bureaucracy that prioritizes its own agenda over the will of the voters.

The poll revealed that whereas 89% of Republican government employees plan to support a Trump administration, nearly three quarters of Democrat bureaucrats (73%) plan to resist it.  Among federal managers — the individuals tasked with implementing presidential directives — the divide is particularly stark.  Only 26% of managers overall plan to “strongly support” the administration, while nearly as many (23%) openly admit they will “strongly resist” it.  Worse, when asked how they would respond to a lawful presidential order they consider bad policy, 64% of Democrat managers said they would ignore the directive and “do what they thought was best.”

This is not resistance; it is insubordination.  It is not just a rejection of Trump; it is a rejection of the voters who elected him.  These bureaucrats elevate their own preferences above the electoral process, openly declaring their intent to resist lawful orders from the duly elected president simply because they disagree with the policy.  This behavior strikes at the heart of representative government.  Federal employees are not policymakers; they are public servants charged with executing the policies set by elected officials.  Yet, as this poll shows, many consider themselves a shadow authority — a Deep State unaccountable to the electorate.

A Battle That’s Not New, and Escalating

The Deep State’s defiance of Trump is not a new phenomenon.  During his first term, deep-seated bureaucrats leaked information, slow-walked directives, and quietly undermined his agenda.  But this resistance did not begin in 2017, nor did it end when Trump left office in 2021.  For more than eight years, the immutable bureaucracy has worked to obstruct Trump’s agenda, and under the Biden administration, its power has only deepened.

This isn’t just a continuation of an old battle; it’s an escalation.  The resistance that was once covert is now out in the open, with bureaucrats declaring their intent to defy lawful orders.  This escalation reflects a broader cultural problem in Washington, where many within the government view themselves not as public servants, but as guardians of their own ideological agenda.

Critics often accuse Trump of authoritarian tendencies, pointing to his demand for loyalty from his appointees as evidence.  But this accusation misses the mark.  The true authoritarians are not those insisting on alignment with an elected president’s vision; they are those within the entrenched bureaucracy who subvert the will of the voters and use their positions to advance their own agenda.  There is no clearer example of authoritarianism than unelected officials deciding they have the right to overrule the elected president and the people who put him in office.

The Stakes for Trump’s Second Term

Trump’s mandate in 2016 was clear: drain the swamp.  That message resonated because Americans saw a federal government bloated with inefficiency, mired in unaccountability, and indifferent to their concerns.  But as this poll demonstrates, that mandate is not a stale slogan.  Then, as now, the bureaucracy bristled at the idea of reform.  Then, as now, it viewed Trump not as its leader, but as its adversary.  And then, as now, Americans have chosen Trump to deliver change.

The stakes for a second term, however, are higher than ever.  For Trump to succeed in fulfilling his renewed mandate, he must take decisive action to neutralize this internal sabotage.

This begins with personnel.  Trump cannot afford to make the mistakes of his first term, where too many appointees were either complicit in the swamp’s resistance or unwilling to confront it.  Personnel decisions in his second term must reflect a hard earned lesson: loyalty, competence, and ideological alignment are non-negotiable.  Trump’s appointees must not only share his vision, but also possess the courage to enforce it within agencies riddled with entrenched opposition.

This also means rejecting the usual Washington power brokers.  Lobbyists, political operatives, and special interest groups will undoubtedly push their own candidates for key roles, but Trump must resist this temptation.  These individuals often have divided loyalties, beholden to their patrons rather than the president.  Instead, Trump must surround himself with reformers — leaders willing to challenge the status quo, impose accountability, and root out inefficiencies.

A Nation That Demands Accountability

The American people see through the bureaucracy’s charade.  According to the poll, more than half (54%) of Main Street voters believe that bureaucrats who refuse to follow lawful presidential orders should be fired, with even the Elite 1% agreeing at 52%.  Republican managers overwhelmingly (74%) support terminating insubordinate federal employees, compared to just 23% of Democrat managers.  This divide highlights the stark cultural contrast between those who see public service as a duty to the people and those who see it as a tool for advancing personal or ideological goals.

The American public’s demand for accountability reflects a deep frustration with a system that has grown unresponsive to their needs.  The swamp isn’t just a collection of bad actors; it’s a culture of inertia and entitlement that values its own preservation over the public good.  Trump’s second term represents an opportunity to disrupt that culture once and for all.

The Road Ahead

Trump’s renewed mandate is a battle for the soul of the republic.  The Deep State’s resistance is not about Trump as an individual; it is about the voters who elected him and the policies they demand.  Bureaucratic defiance is an affront to the principles of representative democracy, and it must be confronted with urgency and resolve.

For Trump, this means taking bold, decisive action from day one.  It means staffing his administration with leaders who are committed to his vision and unafraid to challenge the deep-rooted bureaucracy.  It means demanding accountability at every level of government and holding insubordinate employees to the standard the American people expect.

The Deep State is ingrained, but it is not invincible.  Trump’s election — first in 2016 and reaffirmed in 2024 — reflects the public’s determination to wrest control of the government back from unaccountable elites.  The American people have given him a renewed opportunity to deliver on the promise of reform.  It is a fight worth having, not just for Trump’s legacy, but for the integrity of the republic itself.  If successful, Trump will reaffirm the principle that government serves the people, not the other way around.

That is a legacy worth fighting for.

Beijing’s Shadow Army: Taiwan Intel Unveils PRC Gang-Backed Espionage Ahead of Potential Invasion

Report says Taiwanese gang members were instructed to raise the Chinese five-star flag during a potential invasion as a signal of cooperation.

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Taiwan’s National Security Bureau has revealed a stunning report on Beijing’s use of organized crime to infiltrate the island’s military, corrupt officials, and establish traitorous ground forces ahead of a potential invasion.

Released on January 12, the detailed intelligence report marks a significant increase in transparency from the Taiwanese government, spotlighting Beijing’s methods of leveraging criminal networks for infiltration. While this candor risks diplomatic fallout, it underscores the urgency Taiwan seeks to convey.

The findings document a surge in espionage efforts, including the covert recruitment of Taiwanese nationals—particularly military personnel—and the use of organized crime, underground financial networks, and civic or religious groups to extract sensitive government information. Accompanied by data tables and graphics, the report frames these operations as part of Beijing’s "united front work," orchestrated by China’s state security and intelligence agencies.

Under the heading “Colluding with gang groups to develop internal armed co-optees,” the report states that China has reportedly recruited Taiwanese gang members, offering debt relief to servicemembers in financial distress in exchange for sensitive military intelligence.

It further reveals that gang members were instructed to raise the Chinese five-star flag during a potential invasion as a signal of cooperation. According to the report, operatives also exploited underground financial networks tied to gang groups to funnel funds into Taiwan. Veterans were allegedly tasked with compiling rosters of high-ranking military officers and mapping key sites, such as foreign embassies, radar stations, and joint training bases. Some were organized into "sniper teams" charged with planning sabotage missions.

Election cycles provide another point of vulnerability. Beijing has reportedly funded all-expenses-paid trips for Taiwanese politicians to China, conditioning their support for specific candidates on these visits. This practice aligns with frequent allegations of meddling by United Front organizations tied to Fujian province, a region on China’s coast known for both organized crime and intelligence operations.

One high-profile case, according to Taiwanese media reports, encapsulates the severity of the situation: prosecutors charged the founder of the Fukang Alliance Party and six retired military officers with supplying photographs and GPS coordinates of military installations to China. Although the party fielded candidates in Taiwan’s 2024 legislative elections, none won seats. Authorities allege that the group received funding from the PRC, leading to charges under Taiwan’s national security laws.

Beyond these on-the-ground activities, social media has emerged as a critical battleground. Platforms including Facebook, LINE, and LinkedIn allow Chinese-linked recruiters to reach financially distressed targets, commonly transferring funds via cryptocurrencies to blur their trail. Once individuals are roped in, they can be deployed to help expand decentralized espionage networks that pervade multiple layers of Taiwanese society.

The National Security Bureau’s report notes a sharp rise in espionage prosecutions over the last few years, with cases increasing from three in 2021 to 14 in 2023—a total that involved 48 people. By 2024, prosecutions climbed to 15, with 64 individuals indicted. These figures omit cases charged under Taiwan’s Anti-Infiltration Act, indicating that the overall scale of infiltration likely extends further than official numbers suggest.

Economic hardship is a recurring vulnerability, illustrated by the fact that 15 veterans and 28 active-duty troops accounted for a majority of indictments in 2024 alone. Investigators emphasize that debt, gambling problems, and other financial pressures create avenues for exploitation, especially when people have access to sensitive military details.

According to the report, five major channels drive these infiltration efforts: criminal gangs, underground banks, front companies, temples, and local associations. Gang networks promise to wipe out debts in exchange for government intelligence, while underground banks under PRC control lure participants into deeper collaboration. Temples and religious organizations funded by Beijing provide a veneer of community and tradition but can be used to recruit and coerce servicemembers into divulging secret information.

In 2024, Beijing’s disinformation campaigns have escalated, the report says, using hybrid methods to sow division in Taiwan by spreading narratives such as “U.S. skeptic,” “military skeptic,” and “Lai skeptic.” These efforts aim to erode trust in the government and deepen social fractures.

To combat these efforts, Taiwan has implemented a “whole-of-government” mechanism for real-time reporting and coordinated responses to cognitive warfare threats. In 2024 alone, over 3,900 instances of disinformation were reported to government ministries and departments to aid response planning. Additionally, the National Security Bureau has shared its expertise on countering disinformation with like-minded countries through more than 100 international exchange activities, helping the global democratic community build resilience against authoritarian cognitive warfare.

U.S. law enforcement and Congressional reports indicate these tactics are not unique to Taiwan. American lawmakers have highlighted Beijing’s use of organized crime, election interference, influence campaigns, and so-called Chinese Communist Party police stations to target diaspora communities and undermine democratic institutions.
