The Deep State Won’t Intervene In The Election

Everyone is wondering what will happen on November 5. Will Trump win the election? Or will the Democrats, aided by their Deep State operatives in the FBI and CIA, manage to “fortify” the election once again? This may surprise you, but I think he’ll win—although that’s not the end of the story, and there’s not necessarily a happy ending.

Two months ago, I didn’t think Trump would win.

I was confident that the same “cabal” of Deep State cronies Time Magazine wrote about in 2021—the secret junta that really rules America—would never allow Trump to win in a fair election.

After all, Trump represents an “existential threat” to everything the Deep State cherishes the most—a never-ending flow of cash into their own pockets through government offices, back-door deals with arms manufacturers, and the creation of a permanent surveillance state.

In reality, Trump is a fairly liberal Republican or mildly conservative Democrat.  He doesn’t have a racist bone in his body, is squishy on abortion, and doesn’t give a hoot about gays and their endless Pride orgies.

However, he genuinely loves America and is opposed to the systematic plundering of America’s wealth by corrupt insiders and foreign interests.

And for that, Permanent Washington opposed Trump from the second he rode down the golden escalator.

So the question is:

If the Democrats and their Deep State cronies in the FBI, CIA and other three-letter agencies were willing to go so far in 2020—helping stage nationwide BLM riots in 2,000 American cities, even setting up fake “pipe bombs” outside the headquarters of the Democrat and Republican national committees—why won’t they do so again, in 2024?

Here’s why.

The stakes are now too high.

An intervention this time could bring the entire House of Cards falling to the ground.

This time, the Deep State risks exposing Our DemocracyTM as the fraud that it is, if they use their usual dirty tricks so openly.

In 2020, the Democrats could openly cheat and count on the Deep State to cover things up for them.

They could trot out 51 “former intelligence officials” to lie in public that the Hunter Laptop story had “all the earmarks of Russian disinformation” and get Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter to censor any mention of it.

They could use $400 million in “Zuck Bucks” to take over election operations in key swing states under the cover of “get out the vote” efforts.

And in an election that came down to only 40,000 votes in just four swing states, such Deep State operations did the trick.  Operatives didn’t need “widespread” fraud to tilt the election.

But now things have changed.

In just the past few months...

  • Joe Biden was exposed to the entire world as being the demented puppet any minimally conscious American has always known he was.
  • Kamala Harris was revealed to be even less competent than Joe Biden—and thus as just another puppet the Junta plans on using to keep running America.
  • The psyop to create so much hysteria around Trump being another Hitler that some lunatic would try to kill him actually worked... but then, to the Democrats’ horror, Trump survived the assassination attempt.

Now, Kamala Harris is falling so far behind in the polling that the “margin of fraud” is becoming simply too great.

The amount of ballot harvesting and fake mail-in ballots required to overcome the Trump lead will simply be too great.

If the Deep State intervenes this time, the jig will be up.

The whole world will know what most Americans already suspect:  that America long ago ceased being a self-governing Republic but is, instead, a technocratic oligarchy, ruled by a permanent class of defense contractors and intelligence officials who don’t give a damn what the people want or think.

These people understand that if they install Kamala Harris by force and cheat too much, she will end up being even more of a disaster than the current puppet—and the legitimacy of the secret Junta’s regime will be even more widely called into question.

They also know that, even if Trump is elected, they have, as Sen. Chuck Schumer admitted upon Trump’s first election, “six ways from Sunday at getting back at” their enemies.

The Democrats and the three-letter government agencies already have been planning for months how they will derail Trump’s second administration even more than they did the first.

They have no intention of allowing Trump, or any democratically elected official, to “drain the swamp.”

It goes without saying that there will be more Pussy Hat Rallies and endless BLM riots in America’s future, once Trump takes office.  The “Resistance” will return.

So:  My prediction is that Trump will be elected on November 5... and the entire machinery of the Federal government will be put to work undermining everything he tries to achieve and what ordinary Americans who voted for him want him to achieve.

The Deep State wants endless foreign wars... mass immigration on a scale never seen before in human history... Gay Pride flags flying over every battleship... and the creation of a total surveillance society.

They play the long game.

They were boxed into a corner with Kamala Harris... a puppet too dumb even to be a puppet... so Trump will have his temporary revenge.

But it will be temporary.

And then the serious business of destroying America will continue apace.

The Glory of America After Trump Wins

Next week, we face a choice. It is a huge choice. A yuge choice, if you will. The ramifications are enormous. Historic. It's easy to forget that we are watching history happen. When you read about the past, you read about about when LBJ quit or when JFK was shot. Those are historic moments written in the history books. And we are living through history now. We had both of those things happen again in just the last few months, a dropout and an assassination attempt, except they tried to kill Trump twice and they failed. For those of us who love history, it is remarkable that we are part of it. I remember overhearing command net radio calls during the Gulf War that I later read about in books. Savor it. You are part of forever just for being alive now. People will read about this election cycle for centuries to come, assuming there's still an America.

And if Donald Trump gets elected, there will be an America.

What does it mean if Donald Trump gets elected? How will America look like when a new president is sworn-in in January 2029? Glorious, that’s how. We can be America again. We just need to choose wisely.

We must understand that the leftist Borg is not going to just give up if Trump wins. It's going to do everything it can, including hurting people, to retain its power. But it's going to lose. It’s going to lose because Donald Trump has learned. Donald Trump came into office in 2017 believing that the America he grew up in was still the America he had been elected president of. Sure, he understood that we had gone astray and that he was going to be the change agent we needed by harnessing the wave of dissatisfaction that started manifesting as far back as Ross Perot. But on another level, he still believed the old norms existed, that  the Old Rules still applied, that the institutions would still do their job for the American people rather than pursue the personal interests of their ruling class leaders. He was wrong about that. The big difference is that Trump 2.0 knows the truth. And he is not going to to play.

I expect that Trump will wield power ruthlessly, that is, without allowing his enemies to set up arbitrary guardrails on the authority that the American people will have been invested in him and that the elitists themselves do not observe. He can be the most consequential president since Reagan, or maybe even FDR, and this time, I expect he will.

Don't think Trump is going to get sidetracked because the Washington Post’s staff is upset. Don't think he is going to allow a bunch of invertebrates into his administration again, people who have zero interest in pursuing the American First agenda. He's experienced the betrayals of these creatures, the leaks, the lies, and the undermining from within. He sees and understands that the people who the establishment tells you are above approach and have endless integrity are usually the scummiest. I'm talking about the Comeys, the Muellers, the Kellys, the Boltons, the Cheneys, all those trash mandarins of a failed regime who got into power with Trump and immediately began sabotaging the policies the American people had voted for.

Of course, Trump is going to be accused of only appointing yes-men, but if they are saying “Yes” to the America First agenda, that's a solid positive.

Day One, I expect Donald Trump to wield the power of the presidency to pardon those of his allies persecuted by the establishment, which is trying to send the message that if you dare oppose them you will be thrown into prison, if not murdered. I expect him to pardon every J6 prisoner – every single one of them – because you cannot have a two-tier justice system where leftists get to run riot while patriots who walk through the Rotunda of our Capitol – it belongs to us, not the ruling class – end up in prison. And he must pardon the other persecuted patriots, the people thrown in jail for years for protesting outside abortion mills and the guy rotting in prison because he made a joke about Hillary Clinton. And then he must go further. He must direct his Department of Justice to settle the legitimate civil rights claims of all these persecuted individuals for millions of dollars each. Did you know that Peter Strzok – the adulterous scumbag FBI creep did so much damage to his country – got a fat stack of bills in a "settlement" of his “legal claims” against the FBI? A wink and a nod, and they paid him off. Well, the New Rules have got to be applied. Our people who have been tormented and betrayed by the federal government need to be made whole, and that means money.

Where will the money come from? From the billions Trump will ceased paying the plethora of leftist NGOs that get federal grants to pursue the pinko agenda and then kickback our tax money to Democrat pols.

Once these injustices get cured, I expect Trump to make an offer – we can going to go back to the Old Rules, but we will have one set of rules toning forward and they will apply to everyone equally. And then he must prosecute, vigorously, the communists, rioters, treasonous activists, and other criminals who are breaking the law in pursuit of political power. No more burning down police stations and walking away unscathed. No more terrorizing Jews on our streets and campuses. Federal prison awaits. Antifa must be dismantled. The left’s foreign links must be exposed and the perps punished. He will uproot the unlawful Democrat money machine which flouts election laws and takes money from foreigners to ruin our country. Yeah, the Democrats will scream and yell and say that Trump is weaponizing the Department of Justice. Well, the Department of Justice should be weaponized against criminals – real criminals, not people whose only crime is loving America.

On the economy, Trump will get the America moving again. It's going to be amazing. We've seen over and over again, starting with JFK when he cut tax taxes and by Ronald Reagan and Trump himself, that when you cut taxes you supercharge the economy. That's going to happen, especially since it's likely we're going to have a Senate majority. Imagine another ‘80s. It’s will be amazing.

But you've also got to cut spending. The deficit will defeat us if we don’t defeat it first. A booming economy is the first step. The second is cutting waste. Billions for illegals? How about nothing except a ride to the border? And welfare? How about the lazy start working again? Keep hearing about jobs. Americans won’t do, so let’s see if they won’t do them if we’re not giving them money to sit on their butts.

We need make government work better, meaning cut the fed payroll and slash regulations. Expect to see Elon Musk put in charge of some sort of government efficiency board. Elon Musk is famous for walking into Twitter and firing 80% of the layabouts and bums on the payroll, loafers who who spent most of their time Tik Tokking. Twitter is now better than ever with a fraction of the overhead, and it is a bastion of free speech. Oh yeah, by the time Trump leaves office, this government will be once again dedicated to free speech.

We're going to have judges who understand what's time it is. There's already been a message sent out to the Federalist Society that its folks too often prioritize institutionalism over constitutionalism. Trump is not making that mistake again. He will nominate judges who are going to judge properly, and when you judge properly, you judge conservatively. It's a disgrace that you can draw a judge in a political case and anticipate what the outcome is going to be without regard to the law. That's going to stop. I expect Trump to replace two justices – Alito and Thomas – and appoint at least one or two more. He's going to lock in a truly conservative – that is proper – Supreme Court for decades. This alone is going to make him hugely consequential.

Our military is going to get back to the warfighting focus that once made it the most feared force in the world and the most powerful one in human history. Look for DEI to be banned – no compromises, no half steps – but banned, Day One, by order of the commander-in-chief. No more of this nonsense. The generals and admirals who resist will be doing Trump a favor because they will identify themselves for culling. They must be relieved and retired, at a rank below their present rank because if you are relieved you did not satisfactorily serve in your present rank. The conspiracy to morph the American military into a leftist cultural force that would be willing to kill Americans for its elite masters will end.

We will become into energy independent again. We will become a powerhouse of power throughout the world, exporting what we don’t need for ourselves. But we will also see a second dawn of nuclear power. Safe, clean, and endless, nuclear power offers an amazing way forward for our country. You can tell by the way the leftist hate it.

Overseas, American enemies will learn their most important lesson – if you screw with Americans, you and everyone around you are going to die. It is utterly intolerable that it's been over a year that the semi-human savages of Hamas have held Americans hostage. They killed dozens of Americans on October 7th, and we have failed to avenge it sevenfold. Inexcusable. Those disgusting creatures felt safe to put their filthy paws on American citizens because they knew that our sissy establishment would rather cover for them, hold back the righteous retribution of Israel, and even give these animals our money rather than exact righteous retribution. Ask the random chunks of Soulemani how Trump deals with scum who threaten our citizens. The only thing Trump will give them is a date with 72 virgins, and those virgins will all look like Chris Christie.

We will have peace in Ukraine and the Middle East. Our allies will know they have we have their backs. But they will also know they need to shape up. NATO is going to have to pay its fair share. No more tossing us the bill for their security while they squander their dough on foreign imports from the Third World. And this current obsession in what used to be free Western Europe with censoring the speech of their own people, and presuming to tell Americans like Elon Musk what they can and can't say, is going to end. Nobody is going to tell Americans what they can say. No one. You feeling me, UK?

We're going to face down China. We're not going to kiss up to it. We're not going to allow its provocations to stand. We're going to rebuild our military, including building many more ships and asserting our right to sail where we please. And Trump will make them pay for their cyber campaign to infiltrate our data systems. We're also not going to let China rampage through our civilian and government research and development. Right now, American counterintelligence is so wrapped up in DEI nonsense that it refuses to even face the fact that Chinese intelligence is threatening the relatives of Chinese Americans to make them spy. It sad, but real – do you wonder why every new ChiCom weapon system looks just like our counterpart? We're going to start facing that, and we're not going to care if they call us “racist” because we pull the security clearance of people who are clearly compromised. As for the Iranian fetishists who've been handing over classified material to the mullahs from their positions within the Biden administration, time’s up. They're gone from their jobs, their security clearances are gone, and when we get proof of their spying they're off to Supermax.

When Trump is finished with his second term, America will be great again. We will once again outlaw crime. We will treat criminals like what criminals are – criminals. We will not be sucked into the vortex of racial, gender, and similar stupidities that dominate Democrat policy. Every American is going to have a chance to succeed based on his or her – and there are only on his and her Americans – talents, hard work, and skill.

America, after a second Trump term, will look more like the America Boomer/Gen X folks like me who grew up in. We want that for the young folks. That will be our gift to the next generations. They never had the advantage of growing up in the 80s and 90s. They never saw what we saw. They never lived how we lived. They never felt how we felt – as proud Americans, optimistic about the future, powerful citizens of the greatest nation on the face of the Earth and in human history. That's what Trump will give us again.

Be part of history. Go out – right now – and vote.

America is ready for today’s heroic Donald Trump to reclaim the presidency

Conrad Black:

This entire prolonged twilight of the hijacking of post-Reagan America by Democrats and look-alike Republicans is ending with slow and excruciating inexorability.

There has been a reduction of the dignity of American presidential politics in which both parties have participated.

Richard Nixon, a distinguished president of whom there remains, 50 years after his resignation, no probative evidence that he committed a crime, was an old-fashioned patriotic American.

He was so appalled at the thought of a presidential impeachment trial, which had not occurred in more than a century, that he retired rather than subject the nation to such an indignity.

Like Presidents Truman, Eisenhower and Lyndon Johnson, President Nixon never accepted a cent as an ex-president to give a speech or make an appearance.

As we have seen, times have changed greatly.

Democratic disasters

Four years ago, the country had no idea that it would get 9% inflation, an absolute reduction in the purchasing power of the average family and individual, the admission of 10 million illegal immigrants, including scores of thousands of violent criminals, the worst military fiasco in American history in Afghanistan, a war in Ukraine with no exit strategy.

Not to mention a war in the Middle East where the administration has unsuccessfully attempted to straddle between the rights of Israel and trying not to offend Muslim voters in Michigan and Minnesota by saying that Israel had a right “to defend itself,” but not to take any serious reprisals against even the terrorists who inflicted the greatest murder of Jews since the liberation of the Nazi death camps in 1945.

If the public had known any of these things, it would not have voted as it did four years ago.

This does not pretend to address the concerns over the potential mischief involving millions of mail-in ballots that could have been a factor in the Democrats’ victory in 2020

Because the 45th president’s Democratic and Never Trump Republican opponents regard former President Donald Trump as too bumptious, undignified, and “unhinged” to be president, they have resorted to the greatest electoral indignities and illegal outrages in American history to attempt to deny him re-election.

The repurposing of the Justice Department as a partisan operation, from James Comey’s illegal promotion of the fraud of Trump collaborating with the Russian government to rig the 2016 election, through to the spurious indictments launched against Trump to sandbag his third candidacy for president as too repugnant to be tolerable in the White House, have backfired.

These initiatives have been more profoundly dishonest and reprehensible than any charge that could be leveled against Trump.

A known quantity

As Trump has denied that he colluded with Russia in 2016, and that he sought anything other than the facts in a perfectly reasonable discharge of his duty in his famous conversation with the president of Ukraine about the financial derring-do of the Biden family in Ukraine, and as he has denied, with obvious justice, that he was seeking an insurrection at the United States Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, he is accused of lying.

That is, his lies were the accurate denial of lies uttered by his enemies about him.

No matter how intense the campaign becomes, there is no indication that the public has lost sight of the factors of this election: It has seen Trump before as president, and he increased national prosperity, used the tax system to spread it generously among the disadvantaged, and there was peace in the world, and none of this could be said about the present administration.

The Democratic nominee was not a competent vice president and has given the country no reason to believe that she would be a competent president.

The public, in their collective wisdom, have not been impressed or swayed by the greatest orgy of political dirty tricks in American history.

When all the polling has been done, when all the billions of dollars of advertising have been spent, when all the television commentators have made themselves hoarse with their usually rather banal reflections, the country cannot re-elect the Biden-Harris administration

No flash in the pan

Despite unusual reservations about Trump based on his flamboyant egocentricity, they have a comfort level from his past performance and his improved campaign techniques that he can do the job, and they have profound reservations that Harris can.

Although the political establishment was profoundly convinced that Trump was a mountebank and a flash in the pan, his following has grown in his near-decade in presidential politics and he is only the fifth president to have been a serious candidate for president in three consecutive elections, after Jefferson, Jackson, Cleveland and FDR — and seems likely to be only the second president, after Cleveland, to win non-consecutive terms.

The Trump that the country sees today is a much more compelling electoral figure than previous versions.

Far from the grandstanding scene stealer that he was represented as by his opponents eight years ago, he has survived the egregious chicanery of his opponents, the maximum rough and tumble of presidential politics, and even the efforts of assassins.

He will not be underestimated on Election Day.

Who Is The ‘Real’ Kamala Harris? Who Is The ‘Real’ Tim Walz?

The question brings up the commonsense idea that human beings can wear a mask (a “persona”) and pretend to be one person while actually being something or someone entirely different. It’s based on the age-old philosophical topic of “appearance versus reality.” More simply, it’s the problem of phoniness. This raises a question: How can we see behind the mask to know who someone really is?

We know we can’t simply trust what someone says. (“I am who I say I am!”). People can lie or be mistaken, even about themselves. We also can’t necessarily trust what others say (“This person is who I say they are!”) for the same reason. As recent events have shown quite vividly, we also can’t necessarily trust media, “respected authorities,” “The Science,” and so on.

What options does that leave us? Can we ever really know who someone is?

One answer here is supplied by—wait for it—the study of drama.

“True character is revealed in the choices a human being makes under pressure—the greater the pressure, the deeper the revelation, the truer the choice to the character’s essential nature.” (This is from the book Story by Robert McKee.) Revealing character—from Don Quixote or Hamlet to The Usual Suspects or Fight Club—is a key pillar of storytelling and the billion-dollar entertainment industry.

We can pair this with a quote from Robert Ingersoll about Abraham Lincoln: “…if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test.”

We can now apply this test to Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. What choices have they made under pressure? And what have they done with power?

The answers here could branch in multiple directions. For example, we could take note that Kamala Harris’s record shows her to have been the most “liberal” (read: Leftist) member of the U.S. Senate, even further left than self-described Socialist Bernie Sanders. We could talk about her Marxist parents or her alarming ties to financial benefactor Steve Phillips, a leading Marxist-Leninist and long-time affiliate of a pro-China group (speaking of drama), the “League of Revolutionary Struggle.” We could follow the same course with Tim Walz, noting, for example, his bizarre and apparent lifelong love for Communist China, having visited it “about 30 times, including for his honeymoon.”

But we can simplify matters even further.

What is one choice Kamala Harris made under pressure and while holding power? Answer: from thousands of possible options, all of which were entirely hers to choose, she picked Tim Walz as her running mate.

And what is one choice Walz made, under pressure and while holding power, also out of thousands of possible options?

Walz chose to appoint a person named Brian Lozenski to help write the statewide “implementation framework” (similar to a curriculum) for Minnesota’s new “ethnic studies” standards.

And who is Brian Lozenski?

Well, he’s just someone who has openly called for overthrow of the United States.

This isn’t an exaggeration. In his words, the United States “must be done with, it must be overthrown… It’s about overthrow… The United States needs to be deconstructed, period.”

Here is the full context:

The first tenet of critical race theory is that the United States as constructed is irreversibly racist. So if the nation-state as constructed is irreversibly racist, then it must be done with, it must be overthrown, right. And so we can’t be like, ‘Oh no, critical race theory is just about telling our stories and divers[ity].’ It’s not about that. It’s about overthrow. It’s insurgent. And we, we need to be, I think, more honest with that. And it’s funny that they [so-called supremacists], you know, they don’t understand critical race theory, but they actually tell some truth when they’re like, yeah, it is anti-state. You can’t be a critical race theorist and be pro-U.S. Okay, it is an anti-state theory that says, The United States needs to be deconstructed, period. Right. Like that’s, you know, and so I think, I think it’s an interesting argument there. And that’s why I’m a critical race theorist.

(Sources: here and here.) While the original YouTube video no longer exists, Vivek Ramaswamy preserved the clip, courtesy of Elon Musk:

This is the man Tim Walz deliberately chose to help decide the curriculum for Minnesota’s kindergarteners and grade-schoolers.

A serious and genuine American leader would ensure that a man like this would never be within a million miles of any seat of power. Tim Walz, on the other hand, deliberately sought out Lozenski.

The point here isn’t that Harris and Walz are simply Communists-Who-Avoid-Using-the-Word-Communist, or CENOs (Communists Except Name Only). Anyone who has been paying close enough attention is familiar with the Cloward-Piven strategy or knows the work of Trevor Loudon (here or in his excellent book Stealth: Kamala Harris’s Communist Roots) already knows this.

The point is that there are people who are consciously and deliberately working to overthrow and end the United States as we know it. And some of these people are now a hair’s breadth away from having much more control of the U. S. Government than they already have.

Even if this election goes Trump’s way—and if, after that, he actually makes it into the Oval Office—the fact that individuals like these are now this close to the heart of power in America should be a long-overdue wake-up call.

America is at war. Too many Americans are blind to this. One reason is that we’re simply too busy, distracted, complacent, shallow, and unserious. Another reason is that this isn’t conventional warfare, where one military tries to destroy another. It’s something different. It’s the battle to take America from within. It’s “Fifth-Generation Warfare,” as General Michael Flynn and others describe. It isn’t the kind of thing that’s on most Americans’ radar.

Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev said the following decades ago, according to Former Secretary of Agriculture under President Eisenhower, Ezra Taft Benson:

Your children’s children will live under communism. You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept communism outright; but we will keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you will finally wake up and find you already have Communism. We will not have to fight you; We will so weaken your economy, until you will fall like overripe fruit into our hands.

Nearly half of Americans are fully willing to vote for exactly this. Either they’re ignorant of the kind of radical Marxist hell they’re really voting for, or they aren’t. Neither answer is reassuring.

Either way, however this election goes, we Americans have some serious work to do.

Anti-Gunners, Here's Your Chance to Convince Me to Support Gun Control

posted by Jeff Charles at RedState

With Election Day now closer than Doug Emhoff to his kids' nanny, Americans are grappling with a myriad of issues. Gun violence and gun control have become one of the most pressing issues over recent years, due to skyrocketing crime rates and high-profile mass shootings.

The anti-gunner lobby has been hard at work trying to convince the public that imposing more restrictions on firearms will somehow save lives and protect public safety. So, as a radical gun rights advocate, I figured I’d give them a chance to convince me. After all, I could be wrong, right?

So, anti-gunners, if you want someone like myself to support gun control, I’m going to lay out the case you will have to prove.

Good luck!

Let’s start with the primary reason the Second Amendment was created in the first place: To ensure a check on a tyrannical government. For me to support gun control, anti-gunners would have to convince me that our government will never descend into authoritarian tyranny, as have many other governments.

Here’s the problem: It already has many times over.

The United States government, in its current iteration, has existed for almost 250 years. Since its inception, it has violated the rights of countless Americans and grown to a bloated mass of bureaucracy and unnecessary legislation.

At numerous times in our nation’s history, the government has presided over and supported the “peculiar institution” of chattel slavery and Jim Crow laws specifically aimed at oppressing Black Americans. Politicians supported policies preventing Black people from voting or even participating in society under the threat of violence. It used police officers to physically assault and even kill Black Americans in the streets during the Jim Crow era and beyond.

Anti-gunner progressives tell Black men like me that our government is committed to upholding white supremacy while keeping African Americans down – even through violence when necessary. In the same breath, they will tell folks like me that we don’t need to be armed because this same white supremacist government will protect us.

This alone is enough to show me that there is a very real chance that our government could become even more tyrannical. But let’s fast forward to February 28, 1993, when the Bureau for Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and other federal agencies decided it would be a stellar idea to lay siege to a compound full of religious folks in Waco, Texas.

The result was the longest gunfight between the government and civilians in modern history. The siege ended with the brutal murders of 76 people, including 25 children, when a fire broke out at the compound. Their crime? Having guns the government said they shouldn’t have.

What about the massacre of students at Kent State University on May 4, 1970, when the Ohio National Guard opened fire on a group of unarmed college students, for committing the unpardonable sin of protesting the Vietnam War?

These represent only a minuscule sampling of the atrocities our government has committed over its history – and I haven’t even gotten to more recent examples.

Anti-gunners, can you guarantee that none of this will happen again? Can you assure folks like myself that federal, state, and local governments will not abuse their authority in this manner – or even worse? What’s keeping them from becoming more like Russia or Iran?

Even further, haven’t you been telling me for the past few years that former President Donald Trump is the second coming of Adolf Hitler and will enact authoritarian rule if he is elected? Shouldn’t I be armed to protect myself from the Orange Man What Is Bad™?

Let’s move on, shall we?

For anti-gunners to convince me to join their ranks, they would also have to guarantee that the government will always be there to protect us if dangerous criminals seek to take our lives and property. Despite what Democrats want us to believe, violent crime has increased over recent years, which has prompted many Americans to become gun owners.

I have written countless articles about cases in which regular people used guns to defend themselves from home intruderscarjackers, and other bad actors. Can you tell me why these people shouldn’t have been allowed to have firearms? How would it have been a good idea to make it harder for these individuals to arm themselves?

Several studies have shown that defensive gun uses occur quite frequently. In fact, a gun owner is far more likely to use their firearm to defend themselves or others than they are to commit a crime. In each of the articles I’ve written about defensive gun uses, the police were not present at the time of the incident, meaning that if the civilians had been unarmed, they might have been seriously hurt or even killed.

In light of this, what is your plan to guarantee that everyday folks will never have to worry about violent criminals, anti-gunners?

Perhaps I should wrap this up for you in a neat little bow. The reason why folks like me own firearms is because we do not trust the government. We do not trust that the state will always respect our rights – and we have almost 250 years of history showing that we are right.

Secondly, we understand that while the role of government is to protect our rights, they will not always be able to do so. As the saying goes: “When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.”

If you can’t give me a compelling reason to trust the government’s integrity and its ability to protect me, you have no business using the state to prevent me from arming myself. If you are concerned about gun violence, then stop making it harder for law-abiding citizens to defend themselves.

Instead of trying to hinder my right to carry a firearm, why not focus on the issues that lead to crime in the first place? Can’t we work together to find solutions to these problems, or is your true motivation something other than public safety?

Here’s your job, anti-gunners: Convince me the government won’t abuse its power and crime will vanish—then, and only then, will I consider your gun control laws. Until that time, leave me and my guns the hell alone.

One Last Time: Wargaming the Senate

Ward Clark reporting for RedState

With a little over a week to go, there is one major federal issue I have not recently wargamed: The United States Senate. The Senate is vital to the implementation of any presidential agenda; not only does this upper house have an up-or-down on all legislation, but they are also responsible for the "advise and consent" function for executive branch officials and, perhaps most important of all, federal judges - including Supreme Court justices.

If Donald Trump and JD Vance win this election, which is looking increasingly likely, they'll need a friendly Congress. So, let's take a look at some key Senate races and how the balance of the Senate is liable to turn out. My friend and colleague Jennifer Oliver O'Connell took a look at the Senate races a couple of weeks ago as well:

GOP Only Needs to Flip Two Senate Seats to Win the Majority, but Polling Shows They Could Take as Many as Five

Let's look at how things stand now, nine days before the election. The RealClearPolitics average compilation of the Senate has the GOP already holding a two-seat lead, 51-49, assuming current polling holds. The toss-up states are Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

  • Michigan. At the moment, in the RCP averages, Democrat Elissa Slotkin is leading Republican Mike Rogers by a narrow but comfortable margin of three points - but much of that comes from a Quinnipiac poll done on 10/17 - 10/21 that has Slotkin up by eight points, which feels a lot like an outlier. Even so, for the moment, we'll award this state to the Democrats.
  • Nevada. The RCP averages have Democrat Jacky Rosen leading Republican Sam Brown by an even more comfortable 4.9 points. The polling has been pretty consistent since early October, so in an abundance of caution, we have to also award this seat to the Democrats.
  • Ohio. This one's a nail-biter. The RCP average has Democrat Sherrod Brown leading Republican Bernie Moreno by a squeaker - one point. But there may be a twist there, and I am going to break a rule and go with a gut feeling on this one, and here's why: while Brown has the advantage of incumbency, which is something of a problem to surmount, Ohio is becoming an increasingly-red state, and in the presidential race, Donald Trump is holding a very comfortable seven-point lead. My gut tells me Bernie Moreno may pull this one out, so I'm tentatively and hopefully giving this seat to the GOP; Moreno may be able to ride Trump's coattails to a victory.
  • Pennsylvania. Another nail-biter. Incumbent Democrat Bob Casey Jr. is leading Republican Dave McCormick by a skosh over a point and a half. Donald Trump is polling even closer, leading by 0.6 points. That's a squeaker by any measure, and while Pennsylvania is something of a wild card in this election, I'm going to have to give the incumbent the win here.
  • Wisconsin. The Badger State may well be the most tossup-ey of the toss-ups. The race is just damn near a tie between the incumbent, Democrat Tammy Baldwin, and her GOP challenger Eric Hovde. The most recent polls show little movement since early October; a Trafalgar poll taken 10/18-10/20 has Hovde up by a point, a Quinnipiac poll on 10/17-10/21 has Baldwin likewise up a point, while an Emerson poll taken 10/21-10/22 shows a tie. The presidential race is still essentially tied, with Trump leading by a razor-thin margin of 0.2 points. In an abundance of caution, I'll give this one to the incumbent.

Here's what that ends up looking like.

This gives the GOP a non-filibuster-proof majority of 52-48. Workable, but more would be better.

Optimism in Nevada As Early Voting Trends Favor Trump and Sam Brown

Much will depend on turnout, which so far is looking pretty good, and on Donald Trump's coattails. If his coattails are as long and broad as we hope, that could easily drag Ohio, Pennsylvania, and maybe Wisconsin over, which would give the Republicans a 55-seat Senate majority - much more comfortable.
