Laughing at Brian Stelter's MAGA-Fascist Fiction

Is The New Republic still an opinion journal, or has it turned into a science-fiction magazine? For their June issue, the magazine put Donald Trump on the cover with a Hitler moustache over the headline "American Fascism: What It Would Look Like." They published eight fever-brained visions of Trumpian fascism in a second term.

Former CNN host Brian Stelter penned a fictional article titled "Revenge and Freedom From Fact: On the media in a fascist America." It's unintentionally funny to decry "freedom from fact" and then write an entire article based on nothing but your own twitterpated potboiler instincts.

Stelter offered a few real-world niblets -- like ugly trolling tweets he received -- in the soup of his MAGA-fascist fiction. He asked readers to "imagine" a second Trump inauguration with "very motivated activists" breaking through the White House perimeter, and they appear to be wearing press credentials (which are fake).

Then Stelter imagined one tweeted video of a CBS correspondent offering a water bottle to a protester who was pepper-sprayed, and the right-wing narrative becomes: "The media is complicit. They're in on it. THEY are trying to assassinate OUR president."

In retaliation, Team Trump, "fed up with years of accountability journalism" [!] bans most reporters from entering the White House grounds, citing threats to the president's life. "As Truth Social fills up with memes equating journalists with 'terrorists,' networks are giving 24 hours to remove their equipment." In the end, "Fox and Newsmax are allowed on the White House grounds, so officials can claim that 'real' news is still represented."

The weirdness of this nightmare is striking compared to the actual reality of the first Trump term, where the Trump team could barely keep out CNN's Jim Acosta for a week, while CNN had six other credentialed White House reporters.

Stelter's fictions only grow more humorous from there. There's the actual Jussie Smollett-inspired verbiage: "Outside a pro-Trump rally in Florida, a local TV reporter is badly beaten by a group of men bearing MAGA merch."

Ignoring that the Obama administration was more litigious against reporters than any other president (including Trump), Stelter imagines "IRS agents commence audits of top newsroom editors. ... DOJ attorneys consider Espionage Act charges against adversarial reporters."

There's also a serious shooting in this script. In a swatting incident, "a caller to 911 claims there is a violent intruder inside the home of a top CBS anchor. Police arrive en masse, and, amid the chaos, an officer accidentally shoots the anchor's wife, seriously injuring her."

That's not hyperbolic enough: "The same MAGA-heads on social media downplay the violence by digging up the victim's past tweets praising Hillary Clinton; some even parrot the Trump spokesman [over earlier network outages] and call the injury 'a good start.'"

In Stelter's unreality show, Meta websites and Google's search engine lurch to the right, Target sells extra-large American flags (horrors!), and Disney theme parks have "American pride days (while curtailing gay pride events)."

Stelter concluded that Trump fans "have been primed for revenge and for freedom from fact. If the chill descends in 2025, no one can claim to be surprised."

It's far more realistic to imagine that a second Trump term will begin as the last term ended, depending on who controls Congress. Stelter's "mainstream media" will be ready to push more impeachments and special prosecutors and criminal trials. There will be zero introspection about their "freedom from fact" journeys with Russian collusion theories and Kremlin-organized Hunter Biden laptop conspiracies.

Perhaps we should imagine a fictional scenario of just how mentally incapacitated President Joe Biden gets in a second term. Is he ruling ... or drooling?

Democrats Are Stuck With Joe Biden as Their Presidential Nominee

President Joe Biden is currently losing the 2024 presidential race to former President Donald Trump. If the election were held tomorrow, Trump would win -- likely convincingly. The fact that this is increasingly obvious, and that Biden finds himself fighting an uphill battle to prolong his already ancient political career, has precipitated some epic handwringing on the MSNBC airwaves and a veritable five-alarm fire at the Democratic National Committee.

The big polling news last week was that The New York Times/Siena College, one of the country's most accurate pollsters, has Trump up in five of the six most important swing states -- including an astonishing 13-point cushion in light-blue Nevada, and a nine-point lead in purple Georgia. This week, the big polling update came courtesy of the Cook Political Report, another highly regarded polling outfit. The Cook Political Report poll also has Trump leading or tied in each of the seven states polled -- in both a mano-a-mano and a three-way race that also takes into account independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The fact that the Cook Political Report corroborated the eye-opening Times/Siena findings from the week prior led polling savant Nate Silver to post this warning on Thursday: "If Biden is still struggling in August[,] he needs to consider stepping aside. It's not a great situation for D[emocrat]s either way, but you have to do due diligence on the question. It's an important election, obviously. It shouldn't be taboo to talk about." Indeed, polling cross-tabs routinely show that a plurality or majority of Democrats would prefer Biden do just that: Step aside and exit the national stage.

The party's basic conundrum is this: Democrats purport to view Trump as an existential threat to "our democracy," but they are being led to the political slaughter by their senile octogenarian-in-chief. So perhaps Democrats are planning to depose Biden and pull the old switcheroo at their summertime nominating convention in Chicago -- a spectacle already expected to be mass-protested by pro-Hamas radicals who abhor the man they call "Genocide Joe"?

It's not going to happen. Democrats, whether they like it or not, are stuck with the doddering Delawarean dolt as their 2024 presidential nominee.

Biden first arrived in Washington, D.C., as a U.S. senator in Jan. 1973. He first ran for president in 1988 -- the year before your humble columnist was even born. Good luck trying to convince him to voluntarily bow out, after he finally ran a successful presidential race on his third try. Furthermore, the fact that Biden is so decrepit and diminished makes it less likely he will receive earnest advice to drop out from those around him -- in his weakened state, he is merely a puppet to be taken advantage of by close staffers and confidants. And there is no more cynical or self-serving confidant than his wife "Dr." Jill Biden, a 21st-century Lady Macbeth if there ever were one.

But there is an even clearer, more obvious reason the Democrats have no choice but to roll the dice with Biden this fall. Democrats, humorously, are now trapped by a self-defeating intersectional quagmire of their very own making.

The single most frequently floated suggestion for the Democrat who can swoop into the August convention in Chicago and save the day for the donkeys is California Gov. Gavin Newsom. Other possibilities are thought to include Vice President Kamala Harris, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker.

There is a glaring structural problem here. If Democrats leapfrog the Black female Harris to choose any of these white men -- especially the Hollywood villain-resembling Newsom -- they will have committed an egregious sin, according to the tenets of their very own woke catechism and "diversity, equity and inclusion" ideology. How can the Democratic Party, which two years ago explicitly chose Ketanji Brown Jackson to replace the retiring Stephen Breyer on the U.S. Supreme Court on the grounds that she is a Black woman, now defenestrate the first Black woman to ever serve as president or vice president? And to do so for a dreaded white man? Scandalous!

Democrats simply can't do it. And they doubly can't do it at a time when their presidential ticket is struggling so mightily to retain Black support -- especially younger Black males, who show signs of trending toward Republicans at historic margins. There is therefore no world in which Biden is discarded for anyone other than Harris herself. But Harris may well be the only Democrat in Washington, D.C., less popular than Uncle Joe himself. The dimwitted cackler-in-chief is about as popular these days as venereal disease.

Democrats therefore have no choice but to take a deep breath, pray to the deity they probably don't believe in, and roll the dice with their impotent current ticket. And Republicans couldn't possibly be happier about it.

Italian Computer-Coding Teen to Be First Millennial Saint

 

Pope Francis has recognized a miracle attributed to Blessed Carlo Acutis — paving the way for the British-born Italian teenager to become the first millennial saint.

Acutis, born in 1991, died of cancer in 2006; the Vatican claims he interceded from heaven in 2013 to cure a Brazilian boy with a rare pancreatic disease.

With the recognition of a second miracle attributed to the intercession of the computer-coding teen a possible canonization could occur during the Catholic Church's 2025 Jubilee Year, the Catholic News Agency reported. 

In a decree Wednesday, Pope Francis approved the miraculous healing of 21-year-old Valeria Valverde of Costa Rica after a near-deadly bicycle accident in 2022, the news agency reported.

Six days afterward, the young woman's mother went on a pilgrimage to Assisi to pray for her daughter's healing at the tomb of Blessed Carlo Acutis, leaving a written note, the outlet reported. 

That same day, Valverde began to breathe on her own, and further tests showed the hemorrhagic right temporal cortical contusion in her brain had completely disappeared, the outlet reported.

On Sept. 2, 2022, two months after her accident, Valverde went on a pilgrimage to Carlo Acutis' tomb in Assisi with her mother to celebrate the recovery.

Acutis is the first millennial to be beatified by the Catholic Church. He died at the age of 15 shortly after being diagnosed with leukemia, the outlet reported.

How The Media Are Lying Right Now: Getting Poorer Under Biden’s Economy Is All In Your Head

If you’re feeling a little down about your personal finances — which is to say, absolutely decimated by Biden-driven inflation — don’t you worry. The news media are here to tell you just how wrong those feelings are!

The Guardian this week published the results of a laughable poll that asked respondents to share their feelings about the U.S. economy. Surprising to no one, Americans’ feelings are the opposite of good. Yet the Guardian saw the results as an opportunity to declare public sentiment about a subjective topic unequivocally WRONG!

“Nearly three in five Americans wrongly believe the US is in an economic recession,” the article said, “and the majority blame the Biden administration.” It further highlighted what it said are voter “misconceptions,” including that the economy is in recession and that unemployment is at a record high. Most irksome of all, The Guardian said the survey showed nearly three-fourths of respondents “think inflation is increasing. In reality, the rate of inflation has fallen sharply from its post-Covid peak of 9.1%.”

Technical limitations won’t allow me to insert two massive middle fingers right here.

It’s unclear whether journalists really are too stupid to understand the compounding effect of inflation — regardless of whether its rate of increase has “sharply fallen” — or if they’re simply engaging in their usual mass deception and manipulation to help a Democrat. (In this case, Joe Biden.) Of course, it could be a mercurial mix of the two.

For any of them reading this right now, inflation doesn’t “fall” in ways felt by consumers unless prices either revert to previous lower numbers or close to them. It’s simple: If a product is $3, but shoots up in a month to $6, that’s a 100 percent rate of inflation. If the rate of inflation over the next month “falls” to 50 percent, the price of that product will have gone up another three bucks, making it $9.

Yes, inflation technically “fell” by half, but if the rate isn’t 0 percent, then the price is still going up, just not as sharply as before. Even at 0 percent inflation, that means the price of the product remains 100 percent higher than it was just a month ago.

But the dumb and manipulative media keep harping that inflation “sharply fell” in order to create the impression that prices are also falling, when in fact, they’re still going up, simply at a slower pace. Weirdly enough, repeatedly berating me about how inflation is “falling” doesn’t seem to make a difference to my checking account when I’m still paying more for standard goods and services.

Compounding the Biden-driven inflation crisis, it doesn’t hit consumers every once in a while. It’s literally every time they go to the grocery store, which for most households is at least weekly. Each time they go, they’re spending significantly more on products that were much cheaper just three years earlier.

The Guardian article was of course amplified by the rest of the media that take it upon themselves to defend any Democrat president. This one’s biggest liability for reelection is the economy he’s shot full of holes with his retarded policies (one of which was referred to as the “Inflation Reduction Act”). On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” co-host Mika Brzezinski shook her platinum-blonde bob and cited the survey in dismay, saying there’s “not a lot of truth” to what critics of the current economic conditions have to say about it.

Axios picked up the Guardian report and ran its own article under the headline, “More than half of Americans think the U.S. is in a recession. It’s not.” Emily Peck, the author of that write-up, helpfully declared, “The economy is actually in good shape and there’s no recession.”

Well, why didn’t you say so? Honey, wake up the kids! We’re going shopping on Fifth Avenue!

No one knew such a strong economy could hurt this good.

Signs Are Pointing Toward Another Leftist-Fueled Summer of Violence

Does anybody remember the "Summer of Love"?

The phrase was coined by former Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, a Democrat who justified an "autonomous zone" established by left-wing anarchists in the city in 2020.

You may recall that a 19-year-old man was shot and killed in the autonomous zone. 

Multiple other shootings took place in that seven-block area that police were forced to abandon during the “Summer of Love.”

A 24-year-old woman was hit by a car while protesting on a closed section of Interstate 5 in Seattle. She later died.

Calls pertaining to “rapes, robberies and all sorts of violent acts”, according to Seattle Police Chief at the time, Carmen Best, had tripled.

And yet Durkan thought it little more than “a block party atmosphere.”

A “Summer of Love.”

Seattle was but one example of the leftist-fueled violence that engulfed the nation during the summer of 2020.

The race riots in the months leading up to the presidential election that year were sparked by the death of George Floyd. But that case was merely weaponized as a catalyst to cause chaos throughout the country. 

Those riots raged for months. We saw nightly attempts by anarchists to try to burn down a courthouse in Portland, an act some might define as insurrection. There was the arson. The looting. The violence.

What was the goal? To fire up the base. To transfer that rage into votes. To, as Michael Sances, assistant professor of Political Science at Temple University explained, help shape the 2020 presidential election.

“If voters are thinking about this in terms of racial justice and nonviolent protests, that’s politically pretty bad for the president, because they really don’t trust Trump on issues of race,” Sances said weeks before the election.

Hence the violent protests, which were dutifully and perpetually described by the left-wing legacy media as ‘mostly peaceful.’

It worked to a degree. Biden was carried into office with unprecedented support — 81 million votes, if you can believe it.

So it is no coincidence that we are seeing another uptick in violence and chaos again as we head into the summer months. With Biden’s polling numbers woefully down, the left will do anything to help carry this cadaver across the finish line to maintain power.

It began with the pro-Hamas faction of the Democrat base causing turmoil on college campuses across the nation. Rioters shut down college campuses and threatened students.

A report surfaced last month indicating George Soros and other progressive Democratic donors had been funding the anti-Israel protests.

Some might suggest those protests are detrimental to Biden. But, as with most extremists on the left, they will assuredly vote Democrat when it comes time to take action. We see this with Squad members in Congress who consistently complain about Biden regarding Israel but who would not hesitate to back the president. 

Why? Because they believe he is malleable enough to do their bidding. Progressive voters think that as well. Has he demonstrated otherwise during his term in office?

Plus, what is the other option for these pink-haired, college-aged communists? Trump?

Earlier this week, leftists violently targeted Team Trump volunteers and allegedly flipped over tables outside an event featuring Vice President Kamala Harris.

On Wednesday, a package with vials of blood was shipped to the Republican National Committee (RNC) headquarters in Washington, D.C. They were addressed to Donald Trump.

The incident prompted a swift response from law enforcement and emergency services. The area around the RNC headquarters was cordoned off to allow for a thorough investigation and the building was placed on lockdown.

RNC Chairman Michael Whatley described the actions as a “biological attack.”

“This revolting attack comes on the heels of pro-Hamas protestors violently demonstrating on college campuses and deranged Biden supporters physically attacking our campaign volunteers for supporting President Trump,” said Whatley.

Best to buckle up, Trump supporters. This won’t end anytime soon. 

Make way for another Democrat "block party" involving riots, looting, and arson. The “Summer of Love” will be back in 2024.

“Geronimo!” — Why American Paratroopers Shout an Apache Chief’s Name When Jumping

 

“The origin of this now famous cry remains something of a mystery.”

EARLY IN THE development of American airborne forces, the cry of “Geronimo!” became a familiar sound as paratroopers leaped from the doors of transport planes. Yet the origin of this now famous cry remains something of a mystery.

Geronimo, the famed chief of the Native American Apache tribe, was once imprisoned at Fort Sill, Oklahoma — his grave is located nearby. One account holds that the paratroopers adopted the cry after hearing that, with U.S. troops in hot pursuit, Geronimo once leaped from a steep cliff while on horseback to evade capture. It was a feat the soldiers were reluctant to duplicate, and Geronimo temporarily made good his escape  

Another explanation seems somewhat more plausible. In his 1979 book Paratrooper! Gerard Devlin mentions that the origin of “Geronimo!” dates to the early days of the parachute test unit at Fort Benning in 1940. On the night before their first jump, a group of paratroopers were enjoying a few beers while taking in a movie. Although the name of the film is unknown, it might well have been the 1939 western Geronimo. 

When the film was over and the men were walking back to their barracks, one paratrooper by the name of Private Aubrey Eberhardt asserted that he had no fear of the coming jump. His friends jeered and predicted that he would be so frightened in the door of the plane that he’d probably be unable to remember his own name. 

“All right, damn it!” Eberhard shot back. “I tell you jokers what I’m gonna do! To prove to you that I’m not scared out of my wits when I jump, I’m gonna yell ‘Geronimo!” loud as hell when I go out that door tomorrow!”

Eberhardt did just that, and the cry caught on. Both the 501^st and 509^th Parachute Infantry Regiments placed “Geronimo” on their early unit patches.

We already know that the raid on Mar-a-Lago was completely unjustified and unnecessary for many reasons (including that Trump and his attorneys were already talking with the DOJ to resolve any document issues that were outstanding) and over the last few weeks we've learned that the case itself is even more manufactured than previously believed.

Judge Indefinitely Postpones Trump's Classified Docs Case Because DOJ Mishandled Evidence

Judge Aileen Cannon indefinitely postponed Special Counsel Jack Smith's classified docs prosecution of Donald Trump Tuesday because the DOJ failed to correctly preserve key evidence. The ruling is a big blow to Smith and the DOJ, and throws the future of their case into doubt. 

Smith's team humiliated itself when it admitted to the judge that he had tampered with the documents, which is incredibly ironic given that's what the Special Counsel is attempting to jail the former president for.

Now we're learning that due to a secret Obama-era program, the Presidential Information Technology Committee (PITC), there's a very good chance that the Biden Administration has had control of the originals of many, or all of the documents at issue this entire time.

The PITC was created in March 2015 by Executive Order in response to an October 2014 incident in which Russian hackers breached Executive Office of the President computers. The committee includes representatives of the DOD and Homeland Security, and establishes that the President controls all the information he receives through the network. 

A 2015 Memorandum of Understanding between the members of the PITC set out the logistical framework for this program and was released by America First Legal on Thursday morning (emphasis mine):

Today, AFL releases a never-before-public memo from the White House confirming the DOD has been “operating and maintaining the information resources and information systems provided to the President, Vice President, and Executive Office of the President (EOP).” This memo reveals that the White House secretly created and apparently maintains an information technology community that enforced Obama’s executive order to ensure that presidents could store their records on DOD servers without losing control.

What it means is that the federal government has preserved and retained all EOP records on its servers, and therefore, consistent with Obama’s order, it likely possesses a substantial amount, if not all, of President Trump’s classified documents.

Under section 2.01 of the memo, the White House Communications Agency provides core services related to unclassified records. Under section 2.06 of the memo, the National Security Council provides classified services. 

Section 2.04 of the memo concedes that all “records created, stored, used, or transmitted by, on, or through the information resources and information systems provided to the President” were stored at DOD. Thus, the White House Communications Agency and NSC at the White House simply provide services regarding records housed at DOD. 

So, though the administration likely had the originals of the documents at issue, and though Trump's lawyers were working with the DOJ to determine what documents should be returned to the National Archives (if any), Jack Smith went ahead with a full raid on Mar-a-Lago and went so far as to have his thugs ransack and photograph Melania Trump and Barron Trump's bedrooms and personal spaces (people who were not targets of the search warrant).

We don't possess the words to describe how infuriating and traitorous this entire scheme is.

Fortunately, since the documents being stored by the PITC are stored on DOD servers, "any Congressional committee with subpoena power can now seek to determine whether the documents that Special Counsel Jack Smith obtained and claimed Trump unlawfully retained after his presidency are actually in Biden’s active possession through PITC," so we don't have to rely upon Biden's clearly corrupt DOJ to admit to anything.

Further, because of the PITC memo’s aggressive posture that all records the President receives are subject to his control, President Trump had a clear basis for believing he had the authority to possess copies of records stored at the DOD. It would, therefore, be impossible for Trump to have retained records “without authorization” and “willfully” and “knowingly,” as the Jack Smith indictment suggests. 

As Dan Epstein, America First Legal's vice president, says:

“What America First Legal has uncovered after months of investigative work paints an unfortunate picture of the rule of law in Washington. A former President of the United States – the most democratically accountable officer under our Constitution – was subject to a politicized referral concocted by the Biden White House that led to an armed FBI raid of his home – where his wife and youngest child live – and is now subject to prosecution. And to now realize that the Biden Administration could have avoided an illegal referral process to recover records the government already possessed, that it could have used normal means to ensure that records the former president believed should be housed in his presidential library (not yet built because of the hordes of investigations aimed at silencing him) were subject to a temporary hold for purposes of Archives’ review — yet didn’t — speaks loudly to America: the law protects only those who follow the norms of one party."

So which Congressional committee(s) will be the first to issue a subpoena to DOD regarding these documents? Weaponization would be my choice.

A Familiar Pattern of Desperate Behavior Emerges When Lawfare Starts Failing

Both Kelly and Dershowitz reported witnessing bizarre and unstable behavior from the left side of the Lawfare operation.

The modern political left is a cult. They have a definite derangement of the mind, and a hole -something missing- in their hearts. They envy the peace and joy they see in others. They are highly unsettled and unfulfilled. Many of them are manifestly evil. Leftists lack any sort of depth, meaning, courage and/or self-control. When challenged, they lose their shit when the weak nature of who they are is exposed.

Leftists are tribal because their weak psychology requires constant reaffirmation to exist in a world of logic, natural outcomes and non-pretending reality. Nature and the natural/spiritual world as exhibited does not align with their pretending and make believe. Just as the “rules of school” are artificial when compared to the “rules of the farm”, Lawfare is not in alignment with natural laws of right/wrong, good/bad, truth or lies.

At a certain point, the ideology of Lawfare -an emotional construct- has to engage and debate the world of commonsense, practical and logical thinking. It is precisely when this conflict is encountered that leftist behavior changes. The destabilized Lawfare mind becomes obvious, as both Alan Dershowitz and Julie Kelly bear witness.

Let’s not forget that Merrick Garland himself authorized the search. This wasn’t just any routine operation, and the American people know it. Bannon believes Biden’s grubby fingerprints are all over this. He points to Trump’s declassification of the classified documents that could send Obama and his cronies down the river.

This regime plot to storm Mar-a-Lago with deadly force was so over the top that even senior FBI agents knew it was an absolutely crazy idea, and they fought against it but ultimately lost out.

Ironically, as this horrific nightmare plays out before the American public, the left is actually whining that if Trump wins, he will kill his political enemies. You can’t make this stuff up.

As we know, the regime’s prosecutors eventually won out, getting their chance for a showdown at the Mar-a-Lago corral, which would have been the cherry on top of their political sundae. This would give their media stooges something to report on 24/7. The narrative would likely have gone something like this:

“Criminal former president and his security team open fire on patriotic FBI agents entering Mar-a-Lago to save democracy.”
