Trump in It to Win It His Own Way

Donald Trump’s campaign is, fittingly, really unusual. No one has ever run a presidential campaign like this. But hey, it’s working – or, at least, I hope it’s working. The polls say it is. The Trump campaign is something we’ve never seen before. First, it’s Trump, and that’s sufficient right there. Anything involving Trump is going to be different. But it’s also an ex-president going for a Grover and seeking to win a non-contiguous term for the first time since Teddy Roosevelt tried to over a century ago. And it’s also a campaign where the incumbent is senile and where Democrats are trying to put the Republican in prison for the crime of…well, there is no crime, and the legal aspects of these sham cases are beside the point. Weird times call for a weird campaign, and this one is really weird – but not necessarily in a bad way.

Trump’s fundraising is unusual. He’s not going to rake in the dough Biden will, as rich people now tend to be Democrats. The remaining big GOP donors tended to go for other people in the primaries. Republican big-money donors are almost always soft, so Nikki got a bunch of their cash – whatever happened to her, anyway? They are coming back now because there is nowhere else to go, and because Trump is making it clear they face a stark choice – him or the commies. He told oil types to give him a billion because Biden would drive them out of business, and the Democrats plotzed. Doesn’t the Bad Orange Man know that quid pro quos are supposed to be kept secret?

He’s also getting a lot of his cash from regular folks, the small-money donors. You all recall that my Mom passed away last year and my Dad the year before – thanks for the support, BTW. The only upside to that has been that neither one had to see the disgrace of this country under Biden. Anyway, I still maintain their email account and monitor it occasionally, which worked out when an incoming email led me to a stock account I did not know of. But enough of my estate clean-up hints (I could write a book) – relevant to our discussion about the 2024 election is what I find in that account whenever I check it.

Their account gets about six emails a day from the Trump campaign. Straight up dunning for cash. MAGA Hat offers. Invitations to take fake polls (“We need to know what YOU think about inflation, crime, and perverts in schools!”). Petitions (“Sign this petition to tell Joe Biden that you love America!”). Hey, want to enter to win a dinner with The Man himself at Mar-a-Lago? And there are passive aggressive appeals for them to respond – Donald Trump is disappointed because they won’t send him a check! The Republicans want the dead to pay; the Democrats want the dead to vote.

That’s fine, though. In an information-saturated environment, you need to be repetitive yet redundant to help your message break through. I get the messages too in the form of texts. Don Jr. is apparently very interested in whether I will step up to help the President win. It’s tiresome but necessary. The campaign needs money, and if saving America means I have to hit the “Mark All As Read” button, I can live with that.

But this is not a money campaign in the way Biden’s needs to be. The Dems need ad money to motivate their br. They rightly fear that key Democrat constituencies, like black men and Hispanics, are not going to come out to vote in the numbers they need. Expensive ads, which will explain how Trump = (Hitler x The Klan)2, are their best shot in artificially juicing the voting numbers, just like Biden’s best shot for juicing himself at the debates is Adderall. Or maybe cocaine – lucky Joe has an in-house stimulant expert.

Trump does not need TV/radio/interweb ads to the same extent. His br is not just committed to voting but is actively chomping at the bit. Where Biden is trying to hold together his fraying coalition and having to sacrifice some factions for others – Michigan Muslims > Jewish voters in his handlers’ minds – Trump is out there expanding his reach into blue territory. He’s reaching out to the Jewish voters appalled at Biden’s footsie with Hamas. He’s reaching out to black men who feel they’ve also been mistreated by law enforcement and who remember how well they did under Trump. The same with working-class Hispanics – those already here want a return to 2019’s economy and have zero use for millions of Third World peasants being imported to compete for jobs and suppress wages.

Trump is back to doing rallies, which the networks refuse to cover other than to bicker about crowd size. The regime media will not have him on its shows, as it did constantly in 2016. Most social media still bans Trump, and for his part, he is sticking with Truth Social instead of taking advantage of Twitter. He is stuck in court most of each week and subject to an unconstitutional gag order. The result is that there is a lot less Trump out there, and absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Remember, there are two kinds of people who do not vote for Trump – dedicated Democrats and moderate people appalled by his Trumpy vibe. Those are the mean tweets people. They like the no-war and economic boom parts, but his tweets are so mean! The result of the elite’s campaign to deplatform and silence the guy about half of America wants to be president again is to prevent Trump from alienating these swing voters. Without constant reminders of why they disliked him, what’s left are accurate memories of good times right up until COVID and the post-election nonsense. You will notice that Trump, when he does speak, steers away from his vaccine/pandemic record and downplays talking about the stolen 2020 election stuff. It’s now all about Biden and how he sucks. And everyone agrees with him that Biden sucks.

Then there is the debate thing. Biden’s handlers do not want him debating (The only thing Biden himself is interested in debating is “Matlock” versus “Murder, She Wrote”) but they know he has to at least pretend to want to debate. His challenge to Trump for two debates under ludicrously unfavorable conditions was clearly made in cahoots with CNN, which just happened to be ready to offer to host the first one in June. It was also clearly a bluff. The idea was for Trump to reject it – which he would have had every right to do, as the rules pretty much required him to be loaded up with handicaps like Harrison Bergeron.

But Trump did what you do when you find yourself in the kill zone of an ambush – he charged. He called their bluff and accepted. He’s showing up. It is unclear whether it is a genius move or a big mistake, but it certainly is a Trump move. This is a man who has never taken counsel of his fears and is not starting now. But Biden does, and mark my words – he will refuse to attend because “It is undignified and inappropriate for the President to share a stage with a convicted felon.”

Oh yes, Trump will almost certainly be convicted in the New York kangaroo court. There is a small chance one or two patriots will refuse to participate in this travesty and hang the jury, but do not count on it. The fix is in, and the rigging has been rug.

But Trump will not bear the title “Convicted Felon” with shame. Trump will wear his conviction like a medal. He was so terrifying to the garbage elite that they had to drop their masks and stop pretending that they had honor and deserved respect in order to manufacture a conviction against a political opponent the American people preferred to the senile zombie who represents their best and brightest. Who else would have the audacity to run on the fact he had been convicted of crimes besides Donald Trump? Mitt Romney wilted under the mere reprimand of Candy Crowley.

Yes, this is the weirdest campaign ever – and it may just lead to the greatest comeback ever.

Plausible Deniability Run Amok

What are the wages of rigged elections?  Invasion, inflation, taxation, and war.  But for a 2020 jiggering of state election procedures that allowed Democrats to flood battleground states with fraudulent mail-in ballots and other illegally cast votes, Americans would not today be suffering from unprecedented foreign invasion, out-of-control inflation, higher taxes, crippling regulations, or the specter of global war.  The Deep State that permanently controls the day-to-day maneuverings of the U.S. government wanted open borders, unconstrained money-printing, income confiscation at home, and empire-building abroad.  All it had to do was steal the 2020 election.

It always cracks me up when I see The New York Times or some other Deep State propaganda organ hyperventilating about how much of the population believes the 2020 election was a total farce.  Almost every article that discusses President Trump, the J6 protest for election integrity, or MAGA voters generally includes an obligatory sentence or two about how Trump supporters insist — “without evidence” — that the 2020 election was rigged.  The Times spent years pushing the Russia Hoax and pretending the 2016 election was stolen from Hillary Clinton.  Then it covered up Hunter Biden’s “laptop from Hell” in order to protect Joe Biden’s electoral prospects.  And when President Trump significantly increased his vote tallies between the ’16 and ’20 contests and won nearly every traditional bellwether county across the country by wide margins, America’s “paper of record” closed its eyes and claimed to see nothing suspicious in Biden’s mail-in-ballot “victory.”  If the Times had any residual credibility, it would acknowledge in boldface type above its front-page fold, “We Push Propaganda, Suppress Truth, and Deny Elections When Doing Otherwise Would ‘Trigger’ Our Writers and Readers.”

What the 2020 election robbery really represents is another instance of the Deep State’s favorite form of deception: plausible deniability.  Election authorities in battleground states may have violated statutory laws, mailed out numerous ballots to the same addresses, set up drop boxes in Democrat strongholds, ignored residency and signature verification requirements, made it easy for illegal aliens to vote, blocked election observers from overseeing counting operations, coordinated mysterious delays in tallying, included belatedly discovered ballots conveniently mailed without date stamps, and created the perfect system for political operatives to illicitly fill out and return large numbers of absentee ballots, but can you prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that vote fraud tilted the 2020 election?  Before you answer that question, you should know that the Deep State imprisons “election deniers” as “insurrectionists,” uses lawfare to bankrupt rivals in civil court, disbars lawyers for bringing election-related cases, intimidates judges from ever looking into election irregularities, pressures employers to fire employees for questioning Biden’s legitimacy, and doxxes regular people for exercising their free speech.  The Deep State can plausibly deny that the 2020 election was rigged because it specializes in censorship, cover-ups, and coercion.

When this awful chapter in American history is written as part of a cautionary tale against the destabilizing effects of rampant government corruption, an accurate heading would be “Plausible Deniability Run Amok.”  Have you ever listened to congressional testimony from former FBI director Jim Comey, former CIA director John Brennan, former director of National Intelligence James Clapper, or any of former President Obama’s other Intelligence Community weasels who conducted illegal spying operations against Donald Trump and his political allies?  They answer almost every question with some form of statement claiming to have “no recollection” of the activities that occurred under their authority.  These men obtained some of the most powerful offices in the United States, and they are perfectly happy to testify before the rest of the world that they are either too dumb to remember what they said and did in the recent past or too incompetent to know what was actually happening in their departments and agencies.  Do they feel shame at publicly presenting themselves as either doofuses or empty suits?  Of course not — because they know that their congressional inquisitors know that they are telling bald-faced lies meant to create enough “plausible deniability” to establish legal immunity for their crimes.  Consider what kind of craven and dishonorable person is comfortable hiding behind the defense, “I am too stupid to be punished.”

Oh, right, that’s the exact defense Biden’s Department of Justice used to avoid prosecuting him for having illegally possessed classified government documents in unsecured locations for the last several decades.  Even while Deep State prosecutors use the courts to manipulate the 2024 election and imprison Biden’s political opponent, those same lawfare experts have found sufficient wiggle room to spare Joe Biden similar treatment by identifying him as an “elderly man with a poor memory.”  See that, America?  Even though Trump and Biden are roughly the same age, Trump’s mental and physical robustness make him a legal target, whereas Biden’s dementia and infirmity confer general immunity.  Is that a plausible rationale for two-tiered justice?

This kind of rhetorical gamesmanship is endemic not just among the highest-ranking officers of the DOJ and other espionage agencies, but across the whole of the U.S. government.  Department of Homeland Security secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has presided over the largest foreign invasion of the United States.  Millions and millions of foreign nationals (including alarmingly high numbers of military-aged males from hostile countries) have crossed America’s open borders since Biden assumed office.  Biden canceled dozens of President Trump’s executive orders pertaining to national security and redirected funds away from the construction of the southern border wall.  As this invasion has continued unabated, Mayorkas has routinely testified before congressional committees as well as in news interviews that the border is entirely secure.

How can the man charged with securing the homeland tell such demonstrable lies?  He has simply redefined the invaders as “climate refugees” seeking asylum.  This is another lie.  Lawful asylum-seekers do not sneak into the country; they identify themselves at border checkpoints and ports of entry.  That said, Mayorkas’s apocryphal “asylum-seekers” are not violating American immigration law because of bad weather.  That risible excuse is just the Biden administration’s way of psychologically guilt-tripping daft Americans into believing that their consumption of meat and fondness for SUVs somehow make them responsible for providing criminal aliens with free food and lodgings.  In other words, Mayorkas and Biden have constructed a patently absurd justification for their traitorous actions at the border.  They aid and abet illegal alien crime throughout the country, while hiding behind the pretense that they are acting humanely.  And the American people are expected to ignore the federal government’s criminality; swallow the lies fed to them; and brainlessly conclude, “That seems plausible.”

The worst is sure to come with regard to the mRNA “vaccines.”  Was it more “plausible” that the novel COVID virus originated from a Wuhan wet market than from the biological research lab housing highly pathogenic microorganisms right down the street?  Certainly not!  But that convenient excuse did provide both the Chinese Communist Party and its U.S. government partners a degree of “plausible deniability” that persists even after four years.  Is it not also convenient that increased rates of cancer, heart damage, and early death are being blamed squarely on COVID, while a growing body of medical research is establishing a causal link between the experimental “vaccines” and the onset of life-threatening diseases?  If we were living during a time of reason and ethical conviction, medical doctors and government scientists would be shouting from the rooftops that mRNA injections are not safe.  Instead, pharmaceutical companies and global health bodies seem committed to blaming the virus and clinging to their thin veil of “plausible deniability.”

Collapsing empires drown in implausible lies.  As Americans are unfortunately learning, many of those lies indiscriminately kill.

UPDATE PART TWO, BIDEN’S ARMED & DANGEROUS MAR-A-LAGO RAID:

FBI Took DOZENS of Photos in Melania Trump’s Room – Were Focused On Her “Binders” – And They Were Ready to Kill (VIDEO)

Armed FBI agents storm President Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago in August 2022 looking for incriminating documents – reportedly about them. The Biden DOJ authorized deadly force for the raid.

Part Two:

Judge Aileen Cannon on Tuesday unsealed numerous motions related to Jack Smith’s classified documents case against Trump. The documents included evidence that Joe Biden was ready to have his main political rival, Donald Trump, and his family killed for a publicity stunt!

Of course, if ANY OTHER THIRD WORLD COUNTRY did this to a political rival, the Biden regime would be lecturing that country about human rights. Joe Biden has single-handedly destroyed this nation’s cultural norms and historic precedent in less than four years.

Cristina Laila reported earlier that one filing revealed Biden’s FBI authorized the use of deadly force during their raid on Mar-a-Lago authorized by US Attorney General Merrick Garland in August 2022.

But there is even more shocking information included in the released report that we reported earlier. The Biden regime not only approved deadly force at President Trump’s home, where Secret Service members are stationed every day but they also made plans for casualties. The Biden DOJ and Chris Wray’s FBI also notified a local trauma unit to prepare for casualties.

The FBI also authorized agents to raid the guest rooms at Mar-a-Lago and terrorize the guests there.

Julie Kelly reported more details from the reports that were released on Tuesday.

The Biden regime took several photos in Melania Trump and Barron Trump’s bedrooms – and they were interested in the binders in Melania’s room.

Steve Bannon: What hat they did to Melania’s suite, Melania’s Room, and Baron’s Room.

Julie Kelly: There’s another filing disclosed by Trump’s team, and this is an FBI document categorizing all the photos that were taken.

There are dozens of photos taken out of Melania’s Room, and several taken out of Baron’s Room. I don’t know exactly what they were. It just refers to the location. But what? And there’s actually, and I’m going to be posting this in Mike Davis, your ears are going to be burning as soon as I say this, there are probably 15 citations of pictures of binders in Melania Trump’s suite. ‘Binder,’ that’s the word that they use. Now, I know what Mike Davis is going to say, which is what he’s been saying from the beginning, that this whole thing was based on trying to retrieve Trump’s copy of the Crossfire Hurricane’s document. So what were they doing in Melania’s suite? And why were they taking pictures of binders that she had in her bedroom? So that again.

But whoever said that the FBI was spoiling for a fight, that is Absolutely what this looks like. And we are lucky that no one was hurt during that raid because they were prepared for a fight.

In February, sources close to the high-profile investigation revealed that the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago was specifically aimed at recovering a “missing top-secret binder.”

This document is rumored to contain damning evidence of former President Barack Obama’s CIA’s involvement in initiating the Russia collusion narrative against President Trump.

Fox News host Jesse Watters discussed these details on his show, citing reporting by investigative journalists Michael Schellenberger and Matt Taibbi.

President Trump declassified a binder on January 19th, 2021 that contains hundreds of pages about the Crossfire Hurricane scandal. It contains damaging information about the corrupt actors involved with our government. Two different DOJ Attorney General’s have defied President Trump’s direct lawful order to publish the binder in the Federal Register. It’s been 19 months as the DOJ defies the order, and every FOIA request to make it public.

The DOJ had already made redactions to protect sources and methods and returned the binder back to the White House. But the corrupt FBI also wanted to hide names. So at the last minute, the DOJ demanded the binder comply with the 1974 Privacy Act. The Act requires any “agency” that releases records to also hide personal or identifiable name information. The DOJ knew this Act doesn’t apply to the White House, it was a stall tactic. The courts decided this 22 years ago that the Privacy Act was based around FOIA requests, and the White House is not an agency.

Hours before Trump left office on January 20th, Chief of Staff Mark Meadows gave the binder back to the DOJ, along with this memo. He asked the DOJ to make any Privacy Act redactions “out of an abundance of caution.” In the memo, he asks them to expeditiously release the binder when finished. Meadows foolishly expected this would take 3-4 days. It’s over three years now and it’s still not released. Just the News recently obtained the Meadows memo from the National Archives, who also denied having a copy of the declassified binder.

Meadows admitted in interviews that various agencies often stalled or defied Trump’s orders. Meadows knew better than to rely on the DOJ to release this damaging binder after they left the White House. He should have released the binder to the public himself. But in doing so, there was a chance he would become a target of the DOJ and FBI. The memorandum below is what Mr. Meadows sent to the DOJ Attorney General on January 20th, 2021.

Details from the Mar-a-Lago raid offered an explanation on what the FBI was looking for and why the FBI has not released the Spygate documents as they were ordered to when President Trump left office.

Investigative reporter Paul Sperry had his Twitter account taken down for the second time after he tweeted about the Mar-a-Lago raid and what the FBI was looking for.

According to Paul Sperry, the FBI agents spent 9 hours looking for details President Trump took with him on the Crossfire Hurricane FBI spying scandal.

The FBI and DOJ cannot let the American public know the truth of their criminal acts and attempted coup against President Trump. So they raided his home, looking for the documents that may indict the organization.

Zero Hedge reported at the time:

Twitter has suspended journalist Paul Sperry after he made several tweets about this week’s FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, where they spent up to 9 hours rifling through the former president’s private office, Melania Trump’s wardrobe, and eventually took 12 boxes of material…

Sperry: “DEVELOPING: Investigators reportedly met back in June w Trump & his lawyers in Mar-a-Lago storage rm to survey docs & things seemed copasetic but then FBI raids weeks later. Speculation on Hill FBI had PERSONAL stake & searching for classified docs related to its #Spygate scandal.”

Sperry also tweeted a list of “conflicted” DOJ officials who were “briefed on the Mar-a-Lago raid”, and noted that “CNN is admonishing reporters not to call the FBI raid of Trump’s home a “raid,” but instead to term it as a “judge-approved search.”

He also tweeted: “Funny, don’t remember the FBI raiding Chappaqua or Whitehaven to find the 33,000 potentially classified documents Hillary Clinton deleted,” adding “And she was just a former secretary of state, not a former president.”

In a subsequent with Trump insider Kash Patel we heard more about the mysterious binder being the target of the Obama-Biden raid.

The regime was after the binder and they were ready to kill for it.

This criminal mob must be defeated.

Could We Be Seeing a Reassertion of Normalcy?

If the rise of Trump has shown us anything, it's that the regular folks, the non-elites, still have a voice. The people Richard Nixon referred to as the Silent Majority sure seem to be re-asserting themselves - a phenomenon where former President Trump is, really, a symptom, rather than a cause.

But there's little reason to deny the fact that Donald Trump has given voice to concerns a lot of folks have been harboring for some time now - concerns about our country, the direction it's taking, and most of all, the self-appointed elites that are taking our nation down this road.

Tuesday, at the Free Press, former CIA analyst Martin Gurri penned some interesting thoughts along these lines.

The elites are driven entirely by the impulse to control. They detest democracy, which keeps getting in their way, and much prefer a golden ideal they possessively call “Our Democracy”—their own rule in perpetuity. Individual rights are unfortunate legacies from a simpler era. The First Amendment, for example, they see as “hamstringing the government in significant ways.” By the way, that was Ketanji Brown Jackson talking, a Supreme Court justice whose job it is to defend the Constitution. Freedom of speech does hamstring government, that’s perfectly true—but only to the elites (who hate the sound of normie voices) is it a bad thing.

What is the conflict about?

The conflict is about many things, but chief among them is the conflict between those who neither toil nor spin and those who do; at the one extreme of this we see purple-haired Gender Studies majors bragging about their mental illnesses and proclaiming the beauty of morbid obesity, while on the other we have the carpenters, pipe-fitters, oil-field workers, farmers and all the other regular people who produce everything that the elites live on.

Take a look at the signs waved by some of the protestors, rioters, and arsonists plaguing our major cities today. Take a look at some of their positions – anti-capitalist, anti-business, anti-freedom. Now take a look at the protestors themselves. Ask yourself how many of them actually do any productive work. What do they produce, other than strife?

That's the point of Mr. Gurri's piece.

The normies want to get on with life. They want to work, get married, have children—boring stuff. That’s what normal means.

The elites, for their part, wish to change everything: sex, the climate, our history, your automobile, your diet, even the straws with which you slurp your smoothie. For them there is no good and evil, no right and wrong, only oppressors and oppressed. Every transaction demands their intervention to protect designated oppressed groups. “Social justice” translates neatly into “elite control.”

That is, in summary, the source of our nation's current woes: It's all about control with the would-be elites. It's always about control - from guns to steaks, it's about control.

It's as Robert Heinlein said:

Political tags — such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth — are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort

Good fences make good neighbors, as the saying goes, and that's largely because fences have a primary purpose of keeping our stuff where it belongs and keeping the neighbors' stuff where it belongs - on each party's property. And that's a key difference; most of us regular folks want autonomy over what is ours; we want to control our lives and our property, to produce, to trade - while the elites want to control us in all of those respects and more.

That, I think, is the appeal of a populist like Donald Trump - or like Julius Caesar. The charismatic populist leaders give a voice to the regular folks; Trump's own slogan, "Make America Great Again," means to many that the goal is to make us great again. Trump's appeal to many is the perception that he will put us back in control of our own lives and our property, to set us free to produce, to earn, and to keep what we earn.

That's the basis of the current societal conflict; it's a conflict between producers and consumers; between the mainstream and the would-be elites. And the resolution of any such conflict is predictable when you consider one fact: They need us. We don't need them.

Some people have foreseen the rise of the elites; one of them was German philosopher Oswald Spengler, whose 1922 work Der Untergang des Abendlandes (The Decline of the West) I've been re-reading, and finding it more prescient than ever. Spengler writes:

To me, the depths and refinement of mathematical and physical theories are a joy; by comparison, the Γ¦sthete and the physiologist are fumblers. I would sooner have the fine mind-begotten forms of a fast steamer, a steel structure, a precision-lathe, the subtlety and elegance of many chemical and optical processes, than all the pickings and stealings of present-day “arts and crafts,” architecture and painting included. I prefer one Roman aqueduct to all Roman temples and statues. I love the Colosseum and the giant vault of the Palatine, for they display for me to-day in the brown massiveness of their brick construction the real Rome and the grand practical sense of her engineers, but it is a matter of indifference to me whether the empty and pretentious marblery of the CΓ¦sars—their rows of statuary, their friezes, their overloaded architraves—is preserved or not.

Spengler makes some good points. The Eloi in our modern society seem to be characterized by outlandish clothing and body modifications, for the affectation of bizarre art and architecture. The rest of us - not Morlocks, as we lack the requisite underground lifestyle, not to mention cannibalism - prefer the more everyday things in life. We take pride in our homes and keep our lawns clipped and our trucks clean. We teach our kids to read and write and do math, and we like movies and television shows that entertain, not preach.

We are also the ones that produce. And the latter-day Eloi would be well advised to remember:

They need us. We don't need them.

Court Rules Schools Can Force LGBT Ideology On Kids Against Parents’ Religious Objections

It should be obvious to anyone that forcing parents to accept LGBT instruction for their children violates their religious freedom.

In a growing environment of left-wing activism in schools, especially related to LGBT ideology, parents who have not been able to influence curriculum have had the option of opting their kids out of classes. Not any longer, at least according to a federal appeals court in a Maryland case of three families suing for the right to religious freedom for their elementary school-aged children in public schools.

In August of 2023, three families — one Muslim, one Christian, and one Jewish — brought a case against the Montgomery County Board of Education for a recent policy change removing the opt-out option for curriculum. Previously, parents received advanced notice of materials that would be read to their children and could opt out. The school board announced that parents would no longer receive advanced notice of materials, and they could no longer opt out of readings or lessons.

A year prior, according to the case, “In the spring of 2022, the School Board had determined that the books in its English language arts curriculum were not sufficiently representative because they did not include LGBTQ characters.” Maryland law requires schools to give parents the opportunity “to view instructional materials to be used in the teaching of family life and human sexuality objectives.” The school board also has an opt-out policy for religious exemptions in place.

However, there is a clause that states that “if such requests become too frequent or too burdensome, the school may refuse to accommodate the requests. Schools are not required to alter fundamentally the educational program or create a separate educational program or a separate course to accommodate a student’s religious practice or belief.” Deciding that LGBT inclusion in the curriculum was fundamental to the educational program and the requests were too burdensome, the school board simply declared parents could not opt out of LGBT content any longer.

Judge’s Ruling

Last week, U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman dismissed the parents’ concerns and noted that every court that has reviewed similar mandatory public school curricula has found that “mere exposure in public school to ideas that contradict religious beliefs does not burden the religious exercise of students or parents.”

She insisted, “The parents still may instruct their children on their religious beliefs regarding sexuality, marriage, and gender, and each family may place contrary views in its religious context.”

“No government action prevents the parents from freely discussing the topics raised in the storybooks with their children or teaching their children as they wish,” Boardman wrote in Thursday’s order.

The decision was upheld by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Their reasoning was that the parents could not demonstrate how the LGBT-themed books would be used in the classroom and therefore could not determine if they would infringe on their beliefs.

Contrary to the First Amendment

Eric Baxter, vice president and senior counsel at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, argued, “That runs contrary to the First Amendment, Maryland law, the School Board’s own policies, and basic human decency.”

“Parents should have the right to receive notice and opt their children out of classroom material that violates their faith,” he added.

In contrast to the Fourth Circuit’s reasoning, reviewing the Montgomery County Public Schools website makes it clear why these books are in the classroom. The website has a dedicated LGBT section stating, “We have welcoming, affirming schools, classrooms, teams, and clubs. We value all of our children, youth, teachers, staff, and parents.” The section provides an extensive list of LGBT content, resources, and “How to” guides for students, staff, and parents.

Students are provided a Coming Out as YOU! guide that instructs them on how to come out, including a “safety plan,” which tells the students to make sure they have a safe place outside their home to stay; someone, seemingly besides their parents, that they can trust; and to “Consider letting a friend know that you’re planning on coming out and if you don’t text them by a certain time you might need help because your safety might be in danger.” The guide tells students they should decide what they identify as daily, which can change day by day.

The school’s Culturally Responsive Supplemental Elementary ELA Collection is the biggest concern point for parents, as it details the content students will be provided. Students grades kindergarten to second grade are provided more than eight separate LGBT titles, half of which are trans-focused. One book, titled Born Ready: The True Story of a Boy Named Penelope, states in its description, “Penelope knows that he’s a boy. (And a ninja.) The problem is getting everyone else to realize it.”

Three books focus on a character named Max, a transgender-identifying elementary school-aged student who dedicates time to educating friends, teachers, and parents about what being transgender means. Several books are focused on same-sex relationships: one about a prince and a knight who fall in love, one about a child’s gay uncle getting married, and a book for 4- to 8-year-olds titled Love, Violet, about an elementary-aged girl who falls in love with another girl.

Not being subtle, another title for this age group is IntersectionAllies: We Make Room for All, a book on intersectional feminism that teaches kids how to be activists, and a book titled Let’s Eat Bugs! for fifth graders provides recipes on eating insects. The school also offers an LGBT club for elementary school students.

The Obvious Purpose

The school system’s agenda is pretty obvious.

Is it any wonder that religious parents would be concerned about their children — again, kindergarten to fifth grade — being exposed to extreme LGBT ideology? Critics pretend kids are just being told stories that include LGBT characters and that only bigots would oppose kids learning about different types of people. The first judge dismissed the parents saying they “failed to show that the lack of an opt-out policy would result in the ‘indoctrination of their children’ or ‘coerce their children to violate or change their religious beliefs.’”

However, these are books designed to teach kids about being LGBT themselves, not simply about LGBT experiences, history, or health education. This is an environment where kids are heavily encouraged to explore sexuality and gender ideology, with expansive resources, instruction guides, and clubs. Of course religious parents would consider this to be an invasive level of activism and indoctrination.

It should be obvious to anyone that forcing parents to accept this instruction for their children violates their religious freedom, and the obnoxious dismissal from a judge that parents can simply undo whatever their kids learn in school further mocks these sacred rights. Left-wing, LGBT activists simply want full control over children’s education and have constructed a system that not only excludes parents but intentionally isolates their children from them in school.

LGBT activists believe they know best for all students, and that all students need to learn about LGBT ideology in an open, proactive, and affirming way, and if parents oppose this instruction, they don’t need to know about it, or worse, have no power to stop it. Unfortunately, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals just strengthened this abuse of power by school systems, degrading parental rights and religious freedom even further.

Pentagon Does 'Not Believe' Aid to Temporary Pier Is Reaching Residents of Gaza

Spencer Brown reporting for Townhall

Pentagon Press Secretary Air Force Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder faced questions about the usefulness of the U.S.-built temporary humanitarian pier — with a $300+ million price tag for American taxpayers — and struggled to explain what has been accomplished in the days since the pier's construction was completed. Notably, the Pentagon does "not believe" any of the hundreds of tons of aid delivered so far has made it to those for whom it's intended.

In Tuesday's Pentagon press briefing, Ryder stated that more than 569 metric tons of humanitarian assistance — donated by the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, UAE, and other partners — had been delivered to the temporary pier and handed off from U.S. JLOTS (Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore) to be brought ashore by non-U.S. contractors to be placed in staging areas in Gaza before being picked up by NGOs for distribution to the residents of Gaza.

"Aid will be delivered to the floating pier, then transported via logistics support vessels, delivered to the causeway, and then put into assembly areas onshore and that's where NGOs pick up that aid and then further distribute it," Ryder said of the flow of humanitarian aid arriving via the Mediterranean coast.

Ryder emphasized that the pier is a "temporary solution" as the U.S. and its partners seek to "surge humanitarian aid" to Gaza but admitted there have been issues with the aid making its way from the staging area at the land-end of the bridge to residents of the enclave. Already, multiple aid trucks have been accosted by Gazans, raising what Ryder called "safety and security concerns" for distributors. He couldn't — or wouldn't — say how exactly many such trucks transporting aid were held up along their routes. Those incidents spurred the U.S., Israel, and the U.N. to "identify alternative routes" to move aid inland from the shore, Ryder added.

Despite previous projections from the Pentagon for the pier to begin with 90 trucks worth of aid moving ashore each day — building to a goal of 150 vehicles carrying humanitarian supplies per day — Ryder admitted that there had been just 26 trucks brought ashore via the pier since Friday. "This is a combat zone and it is a complex operation," Ryder explained of the consequences of the war sparked by Hamas on October 7. "We've been very clear from the beginning that we were going to take a crawl, walk, run approach."

The natural question: if 569 metric tons of aid have been delivered via the pier so far, how much of that has made it to those in need (read: ideally not Hamas terrorists who are known to fight and operate in plainclothes) inside Gaza? Ryder, again, was reticent to say.

"As it relates to the aid deliveries by the NGOs that are supporting this, I'd really have to refer you to USAID," Ryder answered to one such question about how much aid had made it from the pier into the hands of Gaza's residents. "You'd have to check with the World Food Programme," he replied to another attempt to get an answer. NGOs "have begun to put some of that aid into warehouses for onward distribution," he said as the badgering continued.

Finally, when pressed again as to whether he thought any of the 569 metric tons of aid delivered over the pier had been received by those for whom it is intended, he admitted "as of today, I do not believe so."

US: Russia Just Launched Space Weapon Capable of Attacking Our Satellites

Bob Hoge reporting for RedState

Some readers may remember when then-President Ronald Reagan was widely ridiculed for the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), nicknamed the Star Wars program, which was an effort to develop weapons systems that could knock ballistic nuclear missiles out of the sky before they could rain down on our territory. Liberals were aghast that anyone would try to find an alternative to the “mutually assured destruction” (MAD) strategy, which Reagan called a “suicide pact.”

None other than then-Sen. Joe Biden was wrong on the issue, just as he’s been wrong on virtually every other major issue since: "'Star Wars' represents a fundamental assault on the concepts, alliances and arms-control agreements that have buttressed American security for several decades, and the president’s continued adherence to it constitutes one of the most reckless and irresponsible acts in the history of modern statecraft,” he counseled in 1986.

Well Joe, some of the technology developed as a result of that initiative helped develop the Iron Dome, which Israel uses to shoot down Iranian missiles and Houthi projectiles.

Reagan was right to be looking to the future because in coming years the battle may very well be fought in space. The Russians think so, evidently, because according to U.S. officials they just launched a space weapon that may have the capability to track and destroy our satellites.

Deputy Ambassador Robert Wood delivered the news at the United Nations Monday:

“On May 16, Russia launched a satellite into low Earth orbit that the United States assesses is likely a counterspace weapon presumably capable of attacking other satellites in low Earth orbit,” Wood said in remarks before a vote on a UN Security Council resolution drafted by Russia on outer space security. “Russia deployed this new counterspace weapon into the same orbit as a US government satellite.”

Wood added that the May 16 launch “follows prior Russian satellite launches likely of counterspace systems to low Earth orbit in 2019 and 2022.”

Watch:

On Tuesday, the Pentagon confirmed the launch:

Pentagon spokesperson Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said on Tuesday that US assessments of the Russian satellite “further indicate characteristics resembling previously deployed counterspace payloads, from 2019 and 2022.”

American officials are concerned that Russia is trying to develop a nuclear space weapon, which could have devastating effects if deployed.

The US and its allies have been working to deter Russia from developing a nuclear space weapon, CNN previously reported. If deployed, such a weapon could destroy satellites by creating a massive energy wave when detonated, potentially crippling a vast swath of the commercial and government satellites that the world below depends on to talk on cell phones, pay bills, and surf the internet.

This launch is obviously a concerning—and provocative—development. The United States must keep doing what we've been doing since the Cold War: stay one step ahead of the former Soviet Union.
