Amazon Accused of Using Hollywood Strike to Cancel Shows, Including Woke Failures

Brandon Morse reporting for RedState

Amazon's streaming service can be best described as "hit or miss" with the misses being miles off from good. You can count the number of decent shows on one hand while failing to remember every gawdawful show it's released.

Of all the piles of excrement, Jeff Bezos's company has created, "Rings of Power" stinks the most. Having cost around $1 billion to create and bombing harder than a MOAB, the show represented Amazon's potential to spend big and lose bigger. Despite pretending everything was going great, it was pretty clear that Amazon felt the blast and that its streaming service had a gaping crater to deal with.

But perhaps Amazon is seizing upon a bit of luck that, ironically, comes in the form of the ongoing Hollywood strikes. It would appear that it's utilizing the strike to cancel underperforming shows...or at least that's what it's being accused of.

According to ScreenRant, Amazon canceled the woke-infected "A League of Their Own" series despite it being renewed for a second season. Didn't watch it? Didn't even know they had created it? You're not alone. It's not exactly a popular show thanks to it being a delivery system for social justice messaging and woke nonsense. The show was originally going to get a shortened second season to wrap up some storylines, but now that's been tossed in the garbage.

Interestingly, this seems to come as a surprise to Abbi Jacobson, the show's co-creator. While Amazon is saying that the reason behind the cancelation is the strikes, she seems to believe it's for other reasons and the strikes are just an excuse, calling the decision "cowardly" and "bull**it" in an Instagram post

Amazon is also canceling their sci-fi show "The Peripheral" which also underperformed. According to Forbes, this and "A League of Their Own" is just the start of a big cancellation sweep, and not just at Amazon.

"This feels like the start of something, so I would definitely expect a lot more of this, a combination of cutting costs and the effects of the strike," wrote Forbes senior contributor Paul Tassi.

This brings us back to "Rings of Power." Speculation now abounds as to whether or not Amazon's biggest and most expensive failure will face the guillotine as well. The show has been locked in for five seasons, but with the writer's strike seemingly allowing them to rearrange the board, it's not impossible for it to go completely untouched.

"Rings of Power" is Amazon's most expensive show that, despite all of its impressive sets and CGI, was a mess of a storyline that reimagined Tolkien's beloved characters into cringe-worthy shadows of themselves and slapped too much "for modern audience" flavor into it as well. Over time, audiences found themselves bored with the show and watched less and less as the season went on.

(Disaster: Amazon's 'Rings of Power' Ratings Reveals Its Billion-Dollar Show Bored Viewers)

Outside of bad writing, horrific acting, and terrible costumes, the bastardization of Tolkien's work drained any good faith Amazon and "Rings of Power" had with its audience. It's pretty clear that Amazon cannot continue down this path without taking tremendous losses.

Despite nothing having been announced yet, it's a safe bet to assume the show's been brought up in meetings. It probably won't get canceled seeing as how so much money has already been sunk into it, but it's unlikely that some changes won't occur.

The question is, what kind of changes will they make, and will these course corrections win back Tolkien fans? If that's what they want to try, the changes will have to be severe, possibly including an all-new writing team and possibly an entirely new storyline that will somehow ignore the first.

A lot is possible at this point, but nothing is set in stone, not even approved season renewals. What Amazon chooses to burn could either put it back on the right track or cement itself in failure.

Fox News Caught Presenting Koch Brothers Activist as Random GOP Voter in Wisconsin

By now we are all too familiar with the schemes and plots of the corporate media as they participate in the political illusion of choice game.  However, for Rupert Murdoch and Fox News debate moderator Martha MacCallum, this catch shreds the remaining little credibility they carried.

Fox News is hosting the GOP debate in Wisconsin.  During this build up segment, Martha MacCallum introduces the “random Republican voters” in Wisconsin who will watch the debate.  Except, well… there’s a little problem.  MacCallum introduces Chris Lawrence as a “Wisconsin GOP voter” who seemingly supports Ron DeSantis.  However, MacCallum fails to mention that Chris Lawrence actually works for the Koch Network, who have recently pledged to spend $70 million to defeat President Trump.

Not only has Chris Lawrence worked for the Koch Network for the past 9 years, he is also the Senior Field Director for the Koch group Americans for Prosperity.  In essence, Lawrence is a political operative planted in the group by Fox News to support Ron DeSantis and make it appear like he is an innocuous voter.  Fox News and Martha MacCallum should be embarrassed, but they won’t be.  WATCH (prompted):

Don’t forget, Ron DeSantis supporters Eric Erickson and Guy Benson sit on the Koch Network AfP Advisory Board (see here).

It’s all one big game of illusion, and Fox News is once again a big part of the Republican fraud.  Proving yet again, that everything in the Ron DeSantis orbit is astroturf, phony, manufactured and made up.

Thought Indicting Trump Was The Only Way The DOJ Interferes In Elections? Think Again

The DOJ has made a habit of filing and joining leftist-backed lawsuits against Republican states’ election integrity laws.

After indicting former President Donald Trump earlier this month for claiming the 2020 election was rigged, the Department of Justice (DOJ) is now fighting to schedule the trial right before the 2024 GOP presidential primary.

It’s fairly obvious what the DOJ is doing. By having the trial set in early 2024, the agency can try to kneecap Trump right before the Iowa caucuses and ultimately the 2024 general election, should he be the Republican presidential nominee. Meanwhile, the DOJ also plans to drag Trump into court over a separate set of charges, related to his handling of classified documents, in a trial that’s been scheduled for May of 2024.

As nefarious as it is, the DOJ’s targeting of the former president is hardly the only way the corrupt federal law enforcement apparatus seeks to benefit Democrats ahead of the 2024 contest. Over the past several years, the DOJ has made a habit of filing and joining leftist-backed lawsuits against Republican states’ election integrity laws.

The strategy is reminiscent of the left’s legal bombardment against election integrity laws leading up to the 2020 election, in which Democrat-backed legal groups filed a bevy of lawsuits aimed at altering state election laws in their favor. Whether it was ballot signature verification or voter ID requirements, no commonsense provisions were safe from Democrats’ legal assault.

Now, with Joe Biden in the White House, the DOJ has been able to further Democrats’ election interference by piling on the legal jihad against Republican-backed election laws at the expense of the U.S. taxpayer.

The Laws and Cases

Following a chaotic and messy 2020 election, Georgia’s Republican-controlled legislature and governor implemented SB 202, a benign law designed to enhance the integrity of Georgia’s electoral process. Included in the measure were voter ID requirements for absentee voting — a provision the majority of Americans support — and safeguards on giving voters gifts or money while in line to vote or within 150 feet of a polling place.

Despite the temperate nature of SB 202, Democrats and their legacy media allies began baselessly smearing the law as a GOP-orchestrated effort to “suppress” nonwhite voters. President Joe Biden grossly referred to SB 202 as “Jim Crow on steroids” and called on Major League Baseball to relocate its 2021 All-Star Game from Atlanta in protest. The MLB ultimately acquiesced, condemning the law and relocating the event to Colorado. The move cost the Peach State an estimated $100 million in revenue.

Contrary to Democrats’ claims the law would suppress Georgians’ ability to vote, the state saw record early voter turnout for the 2022 midterms and the state’s subsequent Senate runoff election. A poll conducted after the midterms further revealed that zero percent of black Georgia voters said they had a “poor” experience voting in the 2022 contest.

But the Democrats’ propaganda blitz had already served its purpose. With the groundwork laid by their political and media allies, the DOJ had the justification it needed to launch a lawsuit against SB 202 in June 2021, in which the agency parroted the lie that Georgia’s election law was designed to “deny[] or abridg[e]” nonwhite Americans’ right to vote.

“[T]he cumulative and discriminatory effect of these laws—particularly on Black voters—was known to lawmakers and that lawmakers adopted the law despite this,” the agency baselessly alleged in a press release. The lawsuit prompted the Republican National Committee (RNC) and National Republican Senatorial Committee to intervene in the case to defend the law not long after.

But Georgia was just the beginning of the DOJ’s legal crusade against Republican-backed election laws. In September 2021, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed SB 1, a measure that expanded poll watcher access, mandated voter ID requirements for mail-in voting, and banned paid ballot harvesting in Texas elections. The law also included provisions ensuring only citizens are included on the state’s voter rolls, banning “drive-thru” voting, and prohibiting Texas from “sending out mail ballot applications to people who did not request them from election officials.”

Predictably, Democrats vilified SB 1 as “Jim Crow 2.0,” prompting the DOJ to file suit against Texas in November 2021. As in the DOJ’s lawfare against Georgia’s SB 202, the RNC and other conservative groups intervened to uphold the statute.

A federal district court judge issued a preliminary ruling in the case last week, claiming the provision of SB 1 “requiring that mail voters provide the same identification number they used when they registered to vote” violated the Civil Rights Act, according to NBC News. A final decision on the case is expected in the coming weeks.

The DOJ also joined a Democrat-backed lawsuit last month against a recently enacted election law passed by Florida Republicans.

The 2020 Playbook with a Twist

Contrary to its claims, the DOJ’s election lawfare has nothing to do with “protecting democracy” and everything to do with inserting itself into elections to benefit the Democrat Party. It’s an obvious strategy aimed at undercutting widely supported election safeguards that ensure a fair and transparent process in which all eligible voters can participate.

Of course, Democrat partisans have never cared about transparency. The only thing they value is acquiring government power and doing whatever it takes to maintain it.

Two Largest Democrat States Lose Trillions as Mega Corporations Flee Disastrous Policies, Head South

Mike Miller reporting for RedState

In a recent RedState article, I included a prophetic line from a 70s rock classic: "Tax the rich, feed the poor, til there are no rich no more." Arguably, California and New York have more eagerly and stubbornly followed that disastrous utopian advice than any other state in the Union.

As a result, the largest two Democrat-run states are getting exactly what they paid for.

Correction: Exactly what their fed-up taxpayers have paid for.

So how bad is it? Let's put it this way: New York and California have each lost more than $1 trillion in managed assets as financial firms and Big Tech firms have fled to Texas, Florida, and other southern states. Moreover, the exodus continues.

What did Einstein tell us? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity? Yeah, that.

A Bloomberg analysis of the corporate filing of more than 17,000 firms conducted since the end of 2019 found bleak results for both states.

From the start of 2020 through the end of March 2023, more than 370 investment companies – managing about $2.7 trillion in assets – moved their headquarters to a new state, according to Bloomberg.

The overwhelming majority of the migration was from high-tax states in the Northeast and on the West Coast and into lower-tax states like Florida and Texas, which boast no income tax.

The departure of companies like Elliott Management, AllianceBernstein and Charles Schwab has drained the two states of thousands of high-paying jobs, further burdening city and state finances by sapping tax revenue.

Commercial property markets have also buckled under the weight of the sudden exit of the finance industry, at the same time they are struggling to find new tenants amid the surge in remote work.

But, hey — no biggie, right?

I mean, what could be more important than run-away violent crime, homelessness, hopeless drug addiction, revolving-door jail cells, and ridiculous woke policies?

Besides, as socialist lunatics like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders endlessly babble on, evil corporations don't pay their "fair share," anyway. So, good riddance! Don't let the door hit you!

Wait.

It's not just mega corporations that are exiting New York and California in record numbers; their citizens are also fleeing in droves for better climes — and I don't just mean the weather — as well.

According to a Bank of America analyst:

We constructed near real-time estimates of domestic migration flows and found that pandemic migration trends are not reversing," the analysis said. Since the first quarter of 2023, the data "suggests that cities that saw a large influx of people during the pandemic have still been growing faster than other cities in recent quarters.

Out-of-control San Francisco experienced a one percent drop in population in just the first quarter of 2023, and more than a three percent drop from 2020 to 2022. Likewise, New York City lost roughly one percent of its population in early 2023 and three percent in the two prior years.

One would think a Big City Democrat with a modicum of intelligence would see the writing — or the graffiti, as it were — on the wall and think, "Wait a minute... we need to take an objective look at the impact of our insane policies and make some serious changes."

Welp, one would be wrong to think that.

Take Chicago, for example. As we reported earlier in August, gang shootings have increased — even on the Northside — to the point where a community group recently emailed a newsletter featuring a desperate plea — dubbed “The People’s Ordinance" — asking gang members not to fire guns or commit shootings between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Who'd a thunk that Chicago voters, who kicked prior Mayor Lori Lightfoot to the curb, would turn around and elect Brandon Johnson, of all people, who is proving to be at least as disastrous as was Lightfoot, and likely worse in the long run?

The Bottom Line

Comedian George Carlin warned: "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."

The whole Democrat thing makes me wonder if, somewhere, Albert Einstein and George Carlin are enjoying a couple of beers while shaking their heads. Or maybe, having a good "We told you so" laugh.

The Next Item on the Climate Cult's 'Naughty List' - A Common Staple Food - Gives Scam Away

Article by Nick Arama in RedState

We’ve seen a lot of craziness over the years from the climate change cult.

First, it was global cooling, then global warming. Now, because they don’t know what they are talking about and none of their predictions come to pass, it’s the more amorphous “climate change” (although the “climate” is always changing). They are never held accountable for being wrong, and they just move on to the next thing to push us to panic over.

It’s always about how things are about to implode — if we don’t commit more of our money to deal with it/give up our freedoms/turn over more control to the government.

Let’s listen to what Joe Biden said during his vacation in Ireland. This was before he told guests at Dublin Castle that he wanted to “lick the world.”

“The SINGLE existential threat to the world is climate change!” Biden claimed. Not just the “greatest” threat — the only existential threat, according to Joe Biden. “We don’t have a lot of time, and that’s a fact. And even recognizing — finally, everyone is recognizing it in America,” the president said.

But it’s ok for him to fly to Ireland, then jet on to Delaware.

The world’s been supposedly about to implode for the past forty years. Yet, somehow we’re still here. And no, Joe, “everyone” is not recognizing/accepting the mania.

We’ve seen them demonize fossil fuels. We’ve seen them go after meat — even cow farts with their methane emissions.

But an AFP News Agency tweet about what the climate cult might be targeting next had people sit up and take notice on Sunday. Because if anything underscored how anti-human the cult seems, this would be it. Guess what else is bad? Rice — that thing that most of the world survives on.

“Rice is to blame for around 10 percent of global emissions of methane, a gas that over two decades, traps about 80 times as much heat as carbon dioxide,” the AFP tweet says. “Scientists say that if the world wants to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, rice cannot be ignored.”

“Cannot be ignored” = next thing on their list. These people are insane.

Leaving aside the questionable scientific conclusions here, what are they saying here about the growth of rice? Do they truly think they’re going to eliminate or reduce rice when so much of the world relies on it? Eliminating or reducing rice would decimate people, particularly the poor. We should stop feeding them to “help” the environment? That’s a heck of a message.

Talk about hating people and wanting to throw the world into chaos; eliminating rice might just do it. They don’t want us to use energy, they don’t want us to eat meat, and now they don’t want us to eat rice. Why don’t they just come out and say it — we are the carbon units that they have a problem with and seem to want to eliminate. Is the purpose to protect life on earth or to promote control of those lives? Because it sure looks like the latter.

How about we “ignore” such idiocy? Notice in the video that China and India weren’t signing aboard any such thing because they don’t want to have their people rip them to pieces.

Climate Brainwashing

Greta the Grouch finger-wagging at anyone having a good time.

Climate Brainwashing

Article by Betsy McCaughey in The American Thinker

Hammering K-12 school children nonstop about the dangers of climate change in every class, even math, art and gym, is child abuse.

Barely one-third of fourth graders can read or do math at grade level, according to the latest national scores, but climate activists are demanding kids hear about global warming in every class. New Jersey mandates it, and now Connecticut is following suit as the school year opens. In New York City, Mayor Eric Adams is requiring every public school participate in Climate Action Day.

The climate push is nakedly political, spearheaded in New Jersey by the governor's wife, first lady Tammy Murphy, a founding member of Al Gore's Climate Reality Project. Lessons link urban heat islands to tree placement inequities, redlining and racism.

New York City holds out activist Greta Thunberg as a climate hero and role model, telling kids to "get involved in the global student climate action movement" and "get to know community leaders and register to vote." Everything short of pre-enrolling kindergarteners in the Democratic Party. Parents should be outraged.

Climate change is the Left's religion. The messaging is as heavy-handed as catechism in a religious school.

It's also scary. Children are being told that global warming is killing their favorite animals. At Slackwood Elementary School in New Jersey, first graders are taught that transportation, heating, and raising livestock are "making Earth feel unwell."

The reality is that these children are too young to comprehend the trade-offs of moving to zero carbon immediately. A first grader doesn't know Mommy can't afford an electric vehicle -- average price $53,000.

Children should be taught about the wonders of nature, learning to identify mammals, reptiles, fish and birds, oceans, plants and deserts. They are too young to address the ethical and economic implications of eliminating fossil fuels.

First graders don't understand the impact on their family's budget when the Con Ed bill doubles to pay for the shift to wind and solar, which New Yorkers are warned will happen here.

The U.S. has already reduced emissions of the six most common pollutants by 78% since 1970, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. But try explaining that to a first grader who doesn't know percentages and has no frame of reference for comparing the U.S. record with, say, the soaring pollution rates in China and India.

These issues are appropriate for high school students, and they should be presented as controversies -- with all viewpoints included.

Climate education advocates say they're just teaching "facts" everyone agrees on. Don't buy it.

The scientific community is divided about the urgency of eliminating fossil fuels. A poll by Fairleigh Dickinson University of 400 geologists, climatologists, meteorologists and other scientists found that 41% do not believe global warming will cause "significant harm" during our lifetimes.

A majority of scientists also disagree with the claim kids hear from teachers that we're facing a significant increase in severe weather like hurricanes and tornadoes.

Eliminating fossil fuels on the radical Left's green timetable will clobber ordinary people: costing jobs, raising living costs and weakening America's position in the world. Yet climate change educators oppose any discussion of the cost of getting to zero.

California, New York and Oregon are currently considering mimicking New Jersey's "every class is a climate class" curriculum. But some states are resisting.

Texas state education authorities are urging districts to present the pros and cons of fossil fuels and avoid textbooks that present only one side. That's smart, considering how many moms and dads there earn a living in carbon-related industries.

In Ohio, Republican state lawmakers want to require publicly funded colleges to present all viewpoints on climate change, "encourag(ing) students to reach their own conclusions," and not to "inculcate any social, political, or religious point of view."

Good luck enforcing that on college campuses. But it should be the rule in every public school.

Parents: Stand up to the indoctrinators. Ramming the same scary message into your child's head over and over again in class after class is brainwashing.

We live in America, not China.
