The US’s March of Folly in Ukraine

One tries to read widely on the state of the Ukraine war, though it’s extremely difficult to cut through the fog of propaganda and obvious lies. But slowly, the picture of a determined, slow-moving, grinding, painful Russian victory emerges. Ukrainian casualties are almost certainly at unbearable, unsustainable levels. Closest guesses are in the range of 250,000 KIA, orders of magnitude greater than Russia’s, which draws from a vastly larger population. Ukraine is losing a generation of its male youth, all to prop up a declining US planetary hegemony.

The vicious, confused, criminally reckless tyros running US policy, and deliberately lengthening this destructive and immensely dangerous, unwinnable conflict, are indifferent to the ruin of Ukraine and the mass deaths of its young men, mere cannon fodder to those who walk the corridors of the State Department and Pentagon. As they are indifferent to the unthinkable consequence that might be the final issue of this war.

This war need never have happened if Kissinger’s, and many others’, proposal for a neutral, non-NATO Ukraine had been accepted by the US in 2021, as Russia reasonably requested, and if Ukraine, at America’s direction, had ceased its eight year, US-sponsored war on the Donbas Russian speakers and Russian ethnics, and had enforced the Minsk II accords.

A neutral Ukraine, no US weapons systems within Ukraine’s borders, an end to Kiev’s ruthless persecution of the Donbas population … and the result: No war.

But the US Military Industrial Complex wanted a war and got one. The object: To bleed and weaken Russia with a Vietnam-like quagmire, thus, per US neocon deep thinkers’ fantasies, one of the two nations able to say no to America is removed from the short list of countries impeding their dreamed-of US sole dominance of planet earth.

The outcome of this totally US-provoked war may be much different than the one that fevers the wet dreams of America’s neocons. Russia appears to be surviving US sanctions quite comfortably, as new customers pop up in Asia for its natural gas and other vital resources, its ruble remains strong, 80% of its people apparently support their government, Europe’s, particularly Germany’s, economies are in free fall as the cost of US liquified natural gas exceeds the cost of demonized Russian pipeline gas by huge multiples, and as the BRICs develop new trade routes and payment methods in Asia and across the global south, threatening the dollar as the world’s reserve currency.

All of this, and the risk of nuclear war with a Russia that does in fact feel threatened by the US Military Industrial Complex’s thirty year pattern of gratuitously aggressive behavior toward it, including:

  • NATO’s relentless eastward expansion, in the teeth of explicit promises by every 1990 Western leader that such expansion would never occur if Russia accepted German reunification, withdrew its troops from Eastern Europe, and dissolved the Warsaw Pact;
  • Invitations in 2008 to Ukraine and Georgia to join NATO, well known at the time to be as totally unacceptable to Russia as the Soviet Union’s attempted similar conversion of Cuba in 1962 was to the United States;
  • US deep involvement in the 2014 coup that deposed Ukraine’s democratically elected, pro Russian president;
  • US installation of sophisticated weapons systems in the new NATO countries, including Poland, the Baltics and Romania; and
  • The Biden administration’s 2021 treatment of Ukraine as a defacto member of NATO.

The motive for Russia’s sending 190,000 troops into Ukraine on February 24, 2022 was its perception of threat (see above), and an eight year war by the corrupt Kiev regime against its Donbas population. The claim that Russia’s move into Ukraine was the first step in its supposed lusted-for conquest of Europe is a ludicrous, transparent lie. Those who utter it don’t believe it for a minute, and not one knowledgeable student of international relations believed that Russia posed an aggressive threat to Europe at any time since the collapse of the Soviet Union in December of 1991.  The claim that in Ukraine Russia is motivated by world conquest would be laughable, if that piece of propaganda had not been so ubiquitously parroted by the Western media and therefore swallowed whole by an inattentive, barely conscious public.

The media’s lies about the alleged motivation for the conflict, and its understandable total silence about the pertinent history that would expose those lies, is echoed in its reporting on the progress and state of the war itself.

To judge from mainstream accounts, Russia is always losing, being bled to death, its defeats huge, its victories negligible, its military hardware and ammunition nearly exhausted, suffering massively greater casualties than its enemies, and has been greatly weakened as a military power regardless of the war’s outcome. One day Bakhmut is militarily “irrelevant,” the next day we are told it’s being held to the last man because its fall would open a route to further Russian conquests toward the west. Vladimir Putin is dying of -- take your pick -- cancer, Parkinson’s, dementia. Vladimir Putin is unpopular, about to be killed or deposed, surrounded by foes, etc., etc.

All of this is desperate propaganda by Western elites and their media mouthpieces, who are slowly beginning to realize the magnitude of the catastrophe the Ukraine war they provoked is becoming.

And while the war goes on, beads of sweat are beginning to appear on foreheads of important Western leaders, as the real possibility emerges that the US government blew up the Nordstream pipelines -- which would be one of the most enormous acts of terrorism in history. And -- don’t forget -- that was an act of terrorism directed not merely against Russia, but against America’s close ally Germany, for whom those pipelines were the key to its industrial competitiveness and its population’s well-being. What would be the consequence, for NATO, for US -- European relations, for the governments of Europe, for the image of America in the world, if that astounding act originated in the Biden White House?

The West needs to change course in Ukraine, and fast. If it continues to prolong a war that cannot be won, to double down on past blunders, to deliberately engender in Russia a sense of isolation and threat, it will find itself soon at the point where that war can only be continued by direct insertion of NATO troops to replace the tragically depleted and destroyed Ukrainians.

That way -- the insertion of NATO troops -- lies the serious possibility of civilizational annihilation. Because, whatever happens on the conventional battlefield, the Russians will not tolerate the conversion of Ukraine into a vast military base of the United States on its front porch.

5 years ago today, the Ultimate Hetty rescue mission episode of NCIS LA first aired!! Not only did it reunite the team with their boss, but the most beautiful Hetty and Callen moment was also in that episode. 💗

I still have no idea how that Syria mission will end, but I still expect there to be an emotional reunion!

Here's the Flashback article that i write on the episode from last year (I even reopened the comment section so you can talk on it if you want): https://wwwp-lives.blogspot.com/2022/03/flashback-friday-ncis-la-season-9.html

Jane Fonda Says 'Murder' an Option for Dealing With Pro-Life Republicans

The opinions expressed by contributors are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of RedState.com.

Actress Jane Fonda joined “The View” Friday and when the conversation turned to how pro-abortion activists can fight pro-life Republicans, the 85-year-old suggested murder as an option.

Fonda was visiting the show to promote her latest film, “80 For Brady.” She was joined by co-star and longtime friend Lily Tomlin. When the panel topic turned to recent abortion battles in red states Tomlin expressed dismay at new Republican laws to protect the unborn, saying the country is “backsliding” and it’s “pretty awful”

Fonda followed up with her own comments.

We have experienced many decades now of having agency over our body, of being able to determine when and how many children to have. We know what that feels like, we know what that’s done for our lives. We’re not going back, I don’t care what the laws are. We’re not going back.

Host Sonny Hostin laughed, saying that was “the activist” in Fonda coming out. Veteran host Joy Behar agreed, and then asked the “Grace and Frankie” star what could be done about it besides marching and protesting.

“Well, I’ve thought of murder,” Fonda replied through animated cross-talk between the women on the panel. When Tomlin asked her to repeat her statement, Fonda confirmed.

“Murder.”

While the panel of “The View” laughed, Behar stepped in to reassure the audience Fonda was just kidding, suggesting that right-wing watchdogs might pick up the comment and “run away with it.”

“She’s just kidding. Wait a second… They’ll pick up on that and just run with it. She’s just kidding.”

Fonda followed up with a long stare, eliciting a laugh from the audience, at which point Hostin changed course and asked Fonda about her infamous activism over the years.

Behar was right about one thing – conservative media has of course picked up the comment and run with it. Why wouldn’t we? The thing Behar was wrong about was that Fonda was kidding. Sure, she may have been half-joking, in the respect that she wasn’t prepared to go out with a gun that very moment and find a Republican to shoot; but underneath that glib comment is a wish. The award-winning actress is just another member of the Cult of Progressivism, a cult that demands its followers view everyone outside the cult as not just wrong, but evil. Her religion demands that evil be eradicated.

Abortion is one of the sacred tenants of the Progressive church, and those who oppose it are evil, thus, those who oppose it should be eradicated. Fonda might not be leading a murder squad any time soon, but would she be broken up if people started murdering pro-life politicians and voters by the droves? Of course not. After all, it would be for the pursuit of righteousness.

Behar knew we on the right would be fired up by such a comment, but one look at Fonda’s face when she made the comment exposes why. It upsets us because we know – and she knows – she means it. Others like her mean it. They want to censor and strip away human rights because they don’t see the other side as opposition, they see the other side as irredeemable and the only thing standing in the way of utopia.

And that scares us. We will roll our eyes at the likes of Jane Fonda when they reveal what’s lingering in their souls, but we also understand her brand of terrifying, elitist, self-righteous bias and we know the truth, a truth I doubt even Fonda herself would deny if pressed. She can’t kill every pro-life legislator in America…but if she could, and get away with it, she would.

At 85, Fonda doesn’t seem like she cares too much whether or not anyone is offended by such a thought. She believes she is right to think it, she is good to think it, and it is what every other good person thinks, too.

AuntiE says: At 85, there is not a day to soon that many will shout with glee when this traitor female dog, pile of feces departs this earthly realm and roasts in the fires of hades!

The Deadly Incompetence of our Leadership

We are at a crisis point in history the likes of which has not been seen for over century. The leadership of the West has been so incompetent that we may have passed the point of no return,

In 1908, the already by-then decrepit and corrupt Austro-Hungarian Empire officially annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina.  Serbia was furious. There were a lot of Serbs living in the contested area, and the Serbians considered the area to be a natural part of Greater Serbia. Russia was upset. She viewed herself as the protector of Slavs everywhere.

In reaction, the Serbian government supported a group called the Black Hand.  And in 1914, the Black Hand succeeded in assassinating Austria’s Archduke Ferdinand and his wife.

So, Austria declared war on Serbia.

The Russians decided to defend Serbia against Austria and mobilized.

So, the Germans decided to defend Austria against Russia.

And the French had an alliance with Russia against Germany.

The Germans attacked France through Belgium.

The British decided to defend Belgium against Germany.

World War I was on, almost automatically. Europe had been primed to go, and it blew up.

Today, Russia has invaded Ukraine, and is taking major unexpected losses. One may not like Ukraine’s Zelensky, but Putin is the aggressor. And Russia became isolated from the US and its allies, though India, China and other nations continue to buy oil and trade with Russia.

So also being somewhat isolated – not as much as it should be – Iran decided to come to Russia’s aid by selling drones to Russia – thus making much needed money, while equipping Russia’s faltering war effort.

Going a step further, Iran has even agreed to move some of its drone production to Russia. Russia needs those drones, and the military technology and production that Iran can provide. So, moving production to Russia seems to be a win-win for the both of them.

However, Israel wants to cripple Iranian military output, because Iran has promised to destroy Israel. In the past, Israel has attacked Iranian military manufacturing facilities both in Iran and Syria.

Israeli Strike Targeted Iranian Drone Assembly Site Near Damascus, Syrian Rights Monitor Says – Haaretz

Now, with the move of Iranian production to Russia, Iran has insulated its manufacturing facilities from direct Israeli attacks – though there is always the option of Stuxnet variety malware attacks.

Russia has also agreed to return enriched uranium to Iran.

Iran reached a secret agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin in July to bypass a future renegotiated nuclear deal over its reported illicit atomic weapons program, enabling Moscow to return Tehran’s enriched uranium, according to a media report – Jerusalem Post

Russia is overtly assisting an intended destroyer of the Jewish state.

To that end – the destruction of Israel – the Iranians have also armed Hezb’allah to the teeth in Lebanon.

…Hezbollah has an estimated 100,000 short-range rockets capable of striking northern Israel, several thousand missiles that can reach Tel Aviv and central Israel and hundreds more that can strike the entire country.  -- Times of Israel

Iran is on the verge of building atomic weapons, and according to some reports, is only days away.

Iran on Thursday directly acknowledged an accusation attributed to international inspectors that it enriched uranium to 84% purity for the first time, which would put the Islamic Republic closer than ever to weapons-grade material.  - AP NEWS

Top US Defense official says Iran could produce ‘one bomb’s worth of fissile material’ in ‘about 12 days’ - CNN

Given that Iran subscribes to a martyrist view of Jihad, a major loss of life would not deter Iran from a war in order to achieve its aim of destroying Israel. The Jews however want to live, and given Israel’s diminutive size – where 1 nuclear weapon could wipe out a large part of the country – Israel has no options but to preemptively attack Iran.

This is not avoidable by negotiation. President Biden would not be able to stop the war, and Israel would go ahead with or without American approval. Israel has no choice.

When that attack comes, it may require Israel to use nuclear bunker busters to demolish Iran’s well sunken and fortified manufacturing sites. The genie would be out of the bottle. Russia may then decide to use nuclear weapons on Ukraine, citing Israel’s use on Iran as a precedent.

All hell would break loose.

Hezb’allah would let loose with all its missiles on Israel, which could destroy Israel in a day or two, if Israel does not incapacitate the missiles immediately. Hence, the IDF would begin an  immediate heavy saturation bombing of Southern Lebanon. Only the fear of fallout landing on Israel might prevent a nuclear attack on Lebanon. Still EMT, thermobaric, and bunker busters may prove just as deadly.

'Thousands of shells per day' would hit Lebanon if IDF, Hezbollah go to war in the future – Jerusalem Post

Arabs in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza would erupt. Israel woukd be in no mood to play nice. Expect a thermobaric destruction of Jenin.

The equation will boil down to this: Either a million Lebanese and Arab civilians die in a few days, or a million Jews. There would be no quarter from either side. The situation would not permit such luxuries.

Syria – which is now an Iranian puppet – would join in the fracas.  And if so, Russia would feel obliged to protect its Mideast ally.

Russia and Israel would then be in a shooting war – whether limited or total … who knows? Israel would hit the Russian naval base at Tartas.  And where it goes from there is anybody’s guess.

Russia would be dragged into this, probably kicking and screaming, but Iran would so maneuver events as to force Russia’s hand against Israel.

Kennedy and Khrushchev could negotiate over Cuba in 1962. The Mullahs would not negotiate, and Israel would not lie down to oblige them.

And not only Islam is driving this. The Iranian regime is unstable thanks to the revolt of its females.  And one way for a tottering government to save itself is to unify its people over war.

This war now seems inevitable.

This did not have to be:

The Biden administration on Thursday rescinded former President Donald Trump's restoration of U.N. sanctions on Iran, an announcement that could help Washington move toward rejoining the 2015 nuclear agreement aimed at reining in the Islamic Republic's nuclear program. - VOA (February 2021)

The Trump administration had Iran on the verge of economic collapse. Within a month of assuming office, Biden rescued the regime by loosening the restrictions, and resuscitated the tyranny. So today, Iran is only weeks away from a nuclear device.

Israel will not lie down. It will attack, probably using nuclear bunker busters.

Russia will use the war as an excuse to go after the Ukraine with nukes.

Syria and Lebanon will be destroyed, possibly also the Russian naval base at Tartus.

World War III may be only days away. Only a spark is needed.

Calling Out Private Censors, Weaponization Committee Signals It Won’t Stop With FBI-Twitter Collusion

The three-hour hearing showed that corporate-government collusion goes far deeper than the major platforms in Silicon Valley.

The Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government held its second hearing Thursday with a focus on the “Twitter Files” that exposed corporate-government collusion in Twitter’s censorship regime. But the three-hour hearing showed the public-private partnership goes far deeper than the major platforms operating out of Silicon Valley.

Lawmakers heard testimony from independent Substack journalists Michael Shellenberger and Matt Taibbi, two of the primary reporters who published the series after Elon Musk took over the platform. The pair shared how the federal government uses private tech companies as conduits to regulate speech.

“We learned Twitter, Facebook, Google, and other companies developed a formal system for taking in moderation requests from every corner of government, from the FBI, the DHS, the HHS, DoD, the Global Engagement Center at State, even the CIA,” Taibbi said in his opening statement. “A focus of this fast-growing network, as Mike noted, is making lists of people whose opinions, beliefs, associations, or sympathies are deemed ‘misinformation,’ ‘disinformation,’ or ‘malinformation.’ That latter term is just a euphemism for ‘true but inconvenient.'”

Taibbi highlighted how the network of online disinformation police has created an entire industry dedicated to suppressing dissident speech by labeling such expression as “misinformation.”

“For every government agency scanning Twitter,” Taibbi said, “there were perhaps 20 quasi-private entities doing the same, including Stanford’s Election Integrity Project, NewsGuard, the Global Disinformation Index, and others, many taxpayer-funded.”

The Global Disinformation Index (GDI) is a British group that compiles secretive lists of news organizations the index encourages major corporations to boycott. Advertisers looking to advertise their products online contract with such “disinformation” groups for advice on which websites to hire. The index has kept a running list of blacklisted websites that include The Federalist, The American Spectator, Newsmax, The American Conservative, One America News, The Blaze, The Daily Wire, RealClearPolitics, Reason, and the New York Post.

GDI came under the spotlight last month when The Washinton Examiner’s Gabe Kaminsky published a series on the index’s funding by the U.S. State Department.

“The Department of State has funded a deep-pocketed ‘disinformation’ tracking group that is secretly blacklisting and trying to defund conservative media, likely costing the news organizations vital advertising dollars,” Kaminsky reported, adding that GDI has raked in $330,000 in American taxpayers’ dollars.

NewsGuard is another censorship group subsidized by federal tax dollars that aims to discredit websites critical of establishment narratives. While GDI works with advertisers to recommend where to spend their marketing budgets, NewsGuard is a browser extension that rates the credibility of news organizations. The software, which is being deployed in schools nationwide, downgrades conservative websites while offering perfect scores to legacy outlets that botched the Hunter Biden laptop story. In September 2021, NewsGuard was the recipient of a nearly $750,000 contract from the Department of Defense.

The two disinformation groups faced scrutiny Thursday when lawmakers on the weaponization committee probed their influence. And although Big Tech remained the focus of the committee’s second hearing, Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz signaled that the panel would be investigating the disinformation industry beyond the major platforms.

“What is NewsGuard and how are they part of the censorship industrial complex?” asked Gaetz.

“NewsGuard and the Disinformation Index are both U.S. government-funded entities who are working to drive advertiser revenue away from disfavored publications and towards the ones that they favor,” Shellenberger answered.

“What you’re describing now, is literally the directing of revenue to certain media companies over other media companies, designed and implemented with U.S. government funding and support,” Gaetz said, calling the effort “astonishing.”

“If we do not take a look at NewsGuard, we have failed,” Gaetz added.

Can Congress Cancel Biden's Endless Wars?

Mar 9, 2023  Radio Rothbard Misesmedia

Ryan McMaken and Tho Bishop look at how the regime's narrative on foreign policy is failing, and how some in Congress are finally standing up to the warfare state. Yet, the regime wants more US wars in Syria, Ukraine, and now even Mexico. And you will pay for it all. Will the voters demand a more sane foreign policy in 2024?

New Study Reveals Why It Has Been so Difficult for Dems to Pass Radical Gun Control Laws

One of the anti-gunner lobby’s favorite talking points is that various surveys show that Americans overwhelmingly favor their most radical restrictions on firearms. They use this as proof that their anti-gun agenda enjoys the support of most people.

Those who support gun rights could easily point out the problem with these arguments. It is all in the way the questions are asked when respondents are filling out the survey.

But a new study reveals that when people actually understand the policies about which they are being asked, support for more gun control legislation dwindles. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and John Lott, a gun rights advocate who also heads the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC), penned a piece for Newsweek in which they detailed the findings of a survey conducted by McLauglin & Associates and commissioned by the CPRC.

The authors noted that despite the results of prior surveys showing massive support for gun control measures, Democrats have been unable to pass legislation in most cases. They wrote:

Gun control advocates claim that over 90% of Americans support universal background checks, which would require checks for privately exchanged firearms. Fact-checkers from Politifact and Snopes support these claims. When asked why Congress won’t pass a universal background check law, academics point to the lobbying power of the National Rifle Association.

But in 2016, despite billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s overwhelming financial backing, ballot initiatives for universal background checks failed in Maine by 4% and won in Nevada by less than 1%. In both Maine and Nevada, the background check initiatives had far more financial support, and the media was overwhelmingly sympathetic to the cause.

The article notes that in these surveys, they typically ask simplistic questions like “Do you support or oppose requiring background checks on all gun sales or transfers?”

Indeed, McLauglin’s survey asked this very question and once again found that 86 percent of respondents answered in the affirmative. “All incomes, education levels, and demographics expressed support for such a law,” the report notes.

But then, the survey asked two follow up questions. Here is the first:

First: “These laws are called universal background checks. Let’s say a stalker is threatening a female friend of yours late on a Saturday night. She asks you if she can borrow your handgun until she has a chance to buy one. She is trained and has no criminal record. If you loaned her the gun, this law would make you a felon. Would you support or oppose this law?”

In this case, participants opposed universal background checks by a 44 percent to 42 percent margin.

The second follow-up question asked: “A Boy Scout troop is going for his [sic] skeet shooting badges. If you lend the Scout master your shotguns, you would be committing a felony. Would you support or oppose this law?”

Respondents opposed the policy by a 45 percent to 42 percent margin.

The same motif held true when the survey asked about red flag laws and explained that decisions regarding whether to confiscate someone’s firearms are made by judges with no mental health professionals involved in the process. It also explained that all 50 states already have involuntary commitment legislation designed to address the same problem – but with trained mental health professionals making the call.

When asked about red flag laws vs involuntary commitment, respondents chose the latter by a 40 percent to 33 percent margin.

This is some horrible news for the anti-gunner crowd, which plays largely on the ignorance of their audience to convince them that more restrictions on law-abiding gun owners will keep more people safe. This could also be why, while even the simplistic surveys still show support for gun control laws, this support is still declining.

The report comes after three years of record-level gun sales and a trend in which more Americans are becoming first time gun owners. The skyrocketing crime rates that have rocked the country have definitely contributed to this new paradigm.

Democrats are still fighting the good fight, so to speak. But the more people are educated about guns and the details surrounding the laws Democrats want to pass, the less support the anti-gunner lobby will receive.

DeSantis Appears in Iowa as Campaign Manager and PACs Begin Positioning for Likely May Announcement

The question of Ron DeSantis entering the race for the 2024 GOP nomination is an issue of ‘when’ not ‘if’.  Anyone who is still holding the opinion that nothing is certain until everything is certain are simply being obtuse in the extreme.

Before getting to the current status of the Florida governor appearing in Iowa, the context for the appearance needs some background.

With former Cruz Crew leader Ken Cuccinelli coordinating the latest Political Action Committee (PAC) “Never Back Down”, the motives clarify when you consider the need to transfer the excess DeSantis 2022 campaign money into a federal race.  The best mechanism to accomplish the transfer legally is through a PAC that is prepositioned to defer initial campaign expenses and launch the effort.

The campaign doesn’t need to coordinate closely with the PAC, because the larger goals are unified. This is where Cuccinelli’s disposition as a political grifter makes him the perfectly corrupt insider vessel to use the opportunity.  Transferring approximately $100 million from the governor state account into the PAC is a lucrative incentive for a character like Cuccinelli.

The second PAC, a SuperPAC called “Ready for Ron,” has been positioned as a data mining operation, registering names, phone numbers, etc. in a preposition status for the 2024 launch.   A nonprofit called “And to the Republic,” run by Republican operative Tori Sachs, has been picking up the expenses for DeSantis’ cross country tour under the auspices of a Rupert Murdoch funded book launch (Harper Collins).  All of this activity is being managed by the same team that launched after the 5 days in the bunker in early August 2022.

At this point, anyone claiming the 2024 Ron DeSantis campaign has not been a long time carefully planned operation, really needs to be laughed out of the conversation.

The footprints of the groundwork for this campaign are visible going back to the late fall of 2021. Yes, this means the 2022 reelection campaign was a complete fraud, and Ron DeSantis never intended to fulfill a four year term as Florida governor.

The fraud behind him, not necessarily DeSantis himself, has been my biggest issue with his political leadership since the summer of last year.

By my back of the envelope math, Desantis Inc. has secure financing of around $500 million currently.  Based on the known assembly of constructs that have been positioned in the past four to six months, I would say there’s easily another $500 million that will be directly inbound to the campaign within the first week of the official launch itself – likely to happen in May.

This is the time frame, immediately after the legislative session, when Florida will be abandoned by the DeSantis management team and Ron DeSantis himself.

$500 million in current secured financing, and $500 million in immediate launch financing, explains the intoxicating allure of the grift currently being used to entice the “influencer” crowd.  Lots of conservatives will make money from this DeSantis national launch.

Use this scale of financial context to explain how The Daily Wire business model can afford to offer podcasters $50 to $100 million for four year contracts.   A thousand million on the table buys a lot of influencers – who feed like a frenzied swarm as fed by the Cuccinelli types.

Last year, based on the visible assembly, I saw DeSantis entry into the 2024 contest as the last entrant.  Meaning all other enlisted GOPe foot soldiers would precede a DeSantis entry. This looks to still be the plan; however, fewer political operatives are now projected to be in the DeSantis strategy.  Everyone in the race, sans Trump, is only in the race to advance Ron DeSantis.  This is just how the professional GOPe Sea Island assembly and professional donor class roll.

In Republican politics everything is an illusion.  Everything is preordained and the entirety of their effort is about creating the illusion of choice or outcome.  Remember, Republicans care about money; Democrats care about ideology.  Republicans use power to get money; Democrats use money to get power.  This is why the ideology of the Democrats continues forward; they have no ideological opposition.  As long as Republicans are getting paid, “we good” is the mantra.

The billionaire class paying both wings of the UniParty doesn’t care if the presidency is held by Gavin Newsom or Ron DeSantis, as long as the system that affords them the influence and affluence is maintained.  The only thing the billionaire class are against is any entity that would disrupt the system; ergo, Donald Trump is horrible.

In the biggest of big pictures, Ron DeSantis is in the race (paid to play the role) to ensure Donald Trump doesn’t get the nomination and present as the alternative to the UniParty outcome.  It is Trump’s America First economic policies that must be avoided by the insurance policy that DeSantis represents.

From this baseline of globalist thought, if DeSantis wins – great.  If DeSantis doesn’t win the primary, then all the money backing him will support the Democrat.  It is the MAGA agenda that must be eliminated.  It doesn’t really matter who eliminates it.  This is the core dynamic in the background of the 2024 election.

(Via Washington Post) -DAVENPORT, Iowa — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has indicated privately that he intends to run for president, according to two people familiar with his comments.

A political committee that seeks to draft DeSantis into the race launched Thursday and is likely to serve as an approved outside spending vehicle for his campaign, three people familiar with the planning said.

And DeSantis will visit the early nominating states of Iowa on Friday and Nevada on Saturday as he tours the country promoting his memoir.

The public and private movements underline how far along DeSantis and his allies are in their preparation for the 2024 campaign, even as the Florida governor has not said publicly that he will enter the race.

Allies do not expect him to announce a run until after the Florida state legislative session ends in May. But in recent conversations, DeSantis has described his presidential plans without any caveats that would suggest he’s still deciding, according to the two people familiar with his comments who, like others interviewed for this story, spoke on the condition of anonymity to share private remarks.
