Michigan deer pulls a Blake Griffin, jumps over car

UNDATED (WLNS) — Former NBA All-Star Blake Griffin has nothing on this deer from Michigan.

The Michigan State Police Fifth District Twitter account shared some dash cam video of an athletic deer casually jumping over a car on the road.

The deer was one of several crossing the road at the time, and luckily disaster was averted on multiple fronts. MSP used the video as an opportunity to remind people to watch out for deer this fall.

“Reminder: If deer cross your path – apply controlled braking; steer straight; don’t swerve,” MSP Fifth District said.

MSP didn’t say exactly where the near accident happened, but the Fifth District covers Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph and Van Buren counties.

Meme Them, Mock Them

A leftist ideology may rule classrooms, campuses, cable news, and social media censorship. But, as we’ve seen with great regularity,
the Left absolutely cannot meme.

Right now, some bespectacled Hollywood hack is feverishly working on a script—undoubtedly one for which he will be grossly overcompensated—about “The Martha’s Vineyard Miracle.”

It’s “based on a true story” of how millionaire country club housewives escaped the late summer monotony of cocktails by the pool to help 50 cruelly displaced migrants find their piece of the American Dream.

Somewhere else.

Keep in mind, the women are supposed to be the heroes of the movie.

One should not stereotype people, I know. But watching Martha’s Vineyard homeless shelter coordinator Lisa Belcastro speak to an inquisitive press was too perfect, especially as she told reporters, “At some point in time, they have to move from here to somewhere else.”

“They” would be the 50 mostly Venezuelans sent to the island by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in an effort to share the load and also, perhaps, to prove the point that our current border policies are untenable.

“We cannot—we do not have the services to take care of 50 immigrants,” Belcastro said. “And we certainly don’t have housing. We are in a housing crisis, as we are on the island. We can’t house everyone here that lives here and works here, so we don’t have housing for 50 more people.”

Belcastro’s brutal honesty—her lack of awareness, given her job title, of the nature of what Americans in southern border states experience daily—made her an easy target for mockery.

The memes highlighting the residents’ hypocrisy are a treasure trove of comedy. Faced with the consequences of the very policies most of them voted for, the good-hearted liberals of Martha’s Vineyard . . . called the National Guard.

There was the scene from Forrest Gump “reimagined” with Forrest (the migrants) trying to find a seat on the bus (Martha’s Vineyard).

“Seat’s taken,” the students (MV residents) exclaim.

Or the Homer Simpson meme where he disappears into the bushes, only this time he’s holding an “In this house we believe . . . no human is illegal” sign, only to reemerge holding a sign reading “No trespassing/You’re on camera.”

My personal favorite was the cartoon meme of the man fake “drowning.”

It’s a recurring image of a man with his face barely poking out of the water—only, when you zoom out, he’s not drowning at all. He’s sitting on the bottom of a very shallow pool. If only he would stand up, he’d be fine.  For the Martha’s Vineyard version, the pool is massive and in the backyard of a mansion, and captioned: “We don’t have the space!”

What fantastic comic relief radical liberal policies like open borders and “no human is illegal” provides, when coupled with real-world application of having these illegal aliens arrive unexpected and obviously unvetted in their own towns.

It might seem odd to make too much of memes, but they are a devastating weapon in modern political warfare and, apparently, the Left’s kryptonite.

What’s a Meme?

That is the logical conclusion of anyone who reads a recent piece in the far-left Atlantic Monthly on the topic of memes and how they almost toppled the United States government.

They are serious.

The Atlantic published a 1,700-word excerpt from a new book by Joan Donovan, Emily Dreyfuss, and Brian Friedberg, which explores “How Memes Led to an Insurrection.”

The piece begins innocently enough before delving into the overwhelming premise, memes led to January 6, and memes almost took down a nation.

“It was a meme war that spilled into the streets of Washington, D.C., that day in January 2021,” the writers claim.

One clear takeaway from the article? It’s no wonder the Left can’t meme.

Based on the article, it is not clear if they actually know what a meme is.

“Memes are now thought of mostly as images online with a bit of text over them,” the article states. “These are a specific type, known as an image-macro meme, but memes can also be phrases (‘Trump Nation’), slogans (‘Stop the Steal’), gestures (‘the dab’), numbers, hashtags—the list goes on.”

According to the article, flags are memes. Hashtags #stopthesteal?—also a meme. Phrases or even political slogans? All memes. And memes brought people to D.C.

“Memes like ‘Make America great again’ helped bring Elizabeth to D.C. in the first place, as did memes like ‘1776!,’” they suggest of a woman featured prominently in their story. “American flags, MAGA flags, Trump flags, and the familiar Gadsden flag, a yellow banner with a coiled rattlesnake hissing the warning ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ . . . ” All of these, Donovan, et al., tell us, are memes.

If I were making a meme of the Atlantic article, I would use that picture of Oprah famously giving new cars to members of her audience, and title it “Memes according to the Atlantic.”

“Everything is a meme!” Oprah would say.

Recently, I sad-joked on my shadowbanned Facebook page that in the future, Americans will be arrested for the memes they share on social media. The experts from the Atlantic seem to agree about the real-world personal cost of memeing or mocking the Cathedral (which is also a meme): “The most powerful warriors now face indictment, prison, bankruptcy, and loss of family and identity, but their ideas, carried into the bloodstream of our society through memes, persist.”

The article suggests that January 6 was foreseeable and should have been expected by anyone reading the tea leaves—and the memes.

“We’d spent all of 2020 tracking memes like the anti-Asian dog whistle #ChinaVirus,” it says. It’s very important when writing a piece attacking the Right always to mention the dog whistle. “For us, the events of that day were entirely foreseeable. They were tragic. But they were not unexpected.”

These authors saw it coming, according to the article—these experts on meme war theory”! If only we could do something about it! And there it is:

Might we suggest some more meme censorship?

For safety’s sake, of course.

Why the Left Fears Memes

The most incriminating line of the article is the one that shows why the powers-that-be—the experts—fear social media and demand intense censorship, especially of memes: “Suddenly you didn’t need a radio show to get your idea to millions of people. You just needed a viral tweet,” the authors reveal. “With the scale and ease of social media, culture warriors from across the country and globe were able to find one another and gather in communal spaces where their ideas could grow.”

Joe Biden may think the average citizen needs F-15s to take on the United States government, but Donovan and Co. conclude that citizens can just topple the government with a devastating meme:

Trump proved that memes can run real-life American politics, and mobilize large groups of people to action. And when those people are fed a steady stream of violence, aggression, and fear, the results can nearly take down a nation.

As most liberals about January 6 tend to be, the writers are full of hyperbole when they contend memes almost brought down America. What is not an exaggeration, however, is to suggest that while leftist ideology may rule classrooms, college campuses, cable news, social media censors, and Hollywood, the Left has not quite cornered the market on humor or memes.

The answer, then, is naturally to meme them. Meme them mock them. Highlight their utter hypocrisy.

Not only do they deserve it, but it also proves effective. Satire and irreverence are legal. For now.

Enjoy tonight's rally! Here's tonight's news:

Why Can’t Republicans Whip It Good?

Beating today’s Democratic Party shouldn’t be difficult, but with Republicans like Tom Emmer, why should voters think the Republican Party is much different?

When you’re a member of the minority party in Congress, you can say what you want, but you can’t actually do anything. Politically that has its advantages.

You can promise to build the wall, take on the Chinese Communist Party and investigate their partner in crime Hunter Biden, even promise to stop risking American blood and treasure in pointless foreign wars. As inflation rises and American’s pocketbooks tighten—you can tell voters everything would be different if only they’d voted differently two years ago.

But, at the end of the day everyone knows Republicans can’t really really do anything because Speaker Pelosi or Majority Leader Schumer will put a stop to it. They can repeat “Drain the swamp!” ad nauseam when Democrats control the swamp because they know it’s safe to say it.

This is about to change for Republicans, however. In a few months House Republicans will almost certainly regain control of that chamber. Whether it’s by six or by 46 seats, it’s a really good bet that Republicans will be in the majority after November 8.

Their first test will take place after the midterms when both parties elect their leaders during the lame-duck session. This is where the rubber should meet the proverbial road. It’s a given that Kevin McCarthy will be speaker of the House and Steve Scalise House majority leader.

But the majority whip position, the third ranking House Republican responsible for convincing the conference how to vote, is going to be a free-for-all. Whoever fills it will say a lot about the direction of the GOP going forward.

Right now, NRCC Tom Emmer is campaigning for the job, and according to many accounts, he has significant support including from the party’s supposed conservative flank.

So since Emmer is running to direct the entire House Republican conferences’ votes, it’s worth asking: how has he voted in the past? It turns out his voting record for conservative, America First types, is highly problematic.

Just a few months ago Emmer voted to legalize gay marriage. He’s voted to block Trump’s transgender military ban and voted on four separate occasions in favor of sexual orientation and gender identity protections for government contractors. Juxtapose that with House Republicans promising to combat the far-Left’s cultural insanity and prevent girls from being forced to compete against biological males.

Who should we believe? Conservatives who are fighting tough political battles to stand for principles in spite of the cost? Or political hacks like Emmer who will say anything to gain power and then stick a shiv in those who enabled their victory (in this case, conservatives and America First advocates)? Majority Whip Emmer would have the House GOP prioritizing “marriage equality,” while standing by and watching as “female” Marines with Adam’s apples march past and religious hospitals are forced to perform mastectomies on pre-teen girls.

Republicans like to talk about Biden’s border crisis and their commitment to border security. Again, all talk while the party is in the minority is cheap. Even though some will try to persuade you that if you squint just right they are the second coming of Donald J. Trump, the truth is something else. The good news, in some ways, about Emmer is that he is at least not one of those: he actually cosponsored a bill to increase legal immigration and another bill that would make it easier for illegal immigrants to obtain drivers’ licenses. So there’s no mistaking what he is.

Again, Emmer isn’t just any rank-and-file moderate Republican: Emmer is a serious contender for overseeing House Republican votes next Congress. How could a conservative justify entrusting this man with one of the most consequential jobs in the Congress?

It’s not just Emmer’s voting record that’s concerning, his campaign to retake the majority sounds a lot like Mitch McConnell’s. He refused to support Liz Cheney’s opponent, Harriet Hageman, even after Cheney was censured by the extremely moderate RNC. He’s warned Republican candidates never to mention President Trump’s name, and he’s ignored issues that get Republican voters to the polls—like immigration and crime—and stuck to platitudes about reducing inflation. Of course, it’s true that Democrats are responsible for inflation. But Democrats aren’t really pro-inflation. But they are for sure pro-crime and pro-illegal immigration and a Republican like Emmer has nothing to say about that.

Emmer’s failure to campaign as a true alternative to the past two years of catastrophic Democratic control has had predictable results. He’s lost winnable elections in Alaska and New York, and Republicans have slipped four points on the generic ballot since June. Even with legitimate “Likely Voter” polls, Republicans are nowhere near where they should be. Beating today’s Democratic Party shouldn’t be difficult, but Tom Emmer hasn’t been able to convince voters he’s much different.

Republicans are probably going to win anyway in November, thanks to their inept and malicious opponents. But if they choose Tom Emmer as their whip, will it really matter?

IRS Must Look Into Tax Breaks Zuckerberg Received For 2020 Election Meddling, Complaint Says

The Internal Revenue Service should investigate whether Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, his wife, Priscilla Chan, and a host of left-wing nonprofits violated existing tax laws by intentionally pouring financial resources into the 2020 election to benefit then-candidate Joe Biden, a complaint from a conservative think tank says.

The Center for Renewing America alleges that the Center for Tech and Civic Life, the Center for Election Innovation and Research, and the National Vote at Home Institute were engaged in a “partisan electioneering” scheme led by Barack Obama’s former campaign manager David Plouffe by pumping nearly half a billion dollars into the 2020 election to swing the contest to Biden.

Zuckerberg and Chan claimed the money they gave to progressive groups was to help run the 2020 elections, but analysis from election data experts has determined that the funds were “distributed on a highly partisan basis that favored Democrats.”

As reported by William Doyle, the left-wing groups’ efforts “had nothing to do with traditional campaign finance,” but everything to do “with financing the infiltration of election offices at the city and county level by left-wing activists, and using those offices as a platform to implement preferred administrative practices, voting methods, and data-sharing agreements, as well as to launch intensive outreach campaigns in areas heavy with Democratic voters.”

The “Zuckbucks” grants, which were largely directed toward heavily Democratic localities in swing states, were essentially utilized to help fund a partisan get-out-the-vote operation.

The IRS should immediately investigate the entities “for unlawful political activity and the receipt and use of improper personal income tax deductions for donations to one or more of those entities,” one of the complaints reads. The complaint also says the left-wing, Democrat-staffed groups should lose their charitable tax status immediately. “These entities’ charitable tax status should be immediately revoked for making expenditures for partisan campaign intervention, in direct and deliberate violation” of federal rules, it adds.

In an accompanying complaint addressing Zuckerberg and Chan’s financial activities during the 2020 election, the Center for Renewing America similarly asks the IRS to investigate the couple for purportedly “unlawful personal income tax deduction(s)” since partisan activity is not eligible for such benefits.

Zuckerberg and Chan received “improper tax deductions” for the massive grants to “organizations engaged in conduct prohibited by the Internal Revenue Code in the 2020 election cycle,” the complaint says.

“We leave to the Service to determine whether there is enough evidence to sustain a criminal investigation into Chan or Zuckerberg for tax fraud. Nevertheless, at the very least, it is incumbent upon the IRS to recoup what is likely a false tax deduction on a roughly hundred million-dollar order of magnitude: an unlawful taxpayer subsidy running to support Democrat
electioneering purposes,” it adds.

Receiving a reported $400 million from Zuckerberg and Chan, groups such as the Center for Tech and Civic Life were instrumental in silently altering state and local election processes in the lead-up to the 2020 election.

Federalist Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway detailed such efforts in her bestselling book, “Rigged: How the Media, Big Tech, and the Democrats Seized Our Elections,” writing how Zuckerberg “didn’t just help Democrats by censoring their political opponents,” but that his financing of “liberal groups running partisan get-out-the-vote operations” was “the means by which [Democrat] activists achieved their ‘revolution’ and changed the course of the 2020 election.”

“It was a genius plan,” Hemingway writes. “And because no one ever imagined that a coordinated operation could pull off the privatization of the election system, laws were not built to combat it.”

As outlined in the Internal Revenue Code, donations not motivated for altruistic reasons, such as those that attempt to illicitly assist one party versus another, are explicitly prohibited.

Congressional Squad Members, AOC and Tlaib 'Debunk' Facts With Nasty Threats

Jim Thompson reporting for RedState

Last week, during a House environmental hearing, Republican Congressman Clay Higgins of Louisiana laid a haymaker on the Democrats’ star environmental witness, Raya Salter. The witness isn’t a scientist, she’s a lawyer. Before she was a lawyer, she was a community organizer.Higgins asked some basic, objectively obvious questions of Ms. Salter, but the star flamed out.

Higgins pointed out that everything around Salter from her cell phone to the table at which she was sitting was [born] from petrochemical products.

Instead of answering, she hectored Higgins with platitudes and entreaties to “search his heart” and to “ask his God what you are doing to the Black and poor of Louisiana.” If you were unaware, oil in particular, and energy, in general, are racist.

She got progressively angrier as Congressman Higgins pressed her for an answer — any answer that made sense. Higgins then asked what she would do with ocean-going vessels and the maritime industry. Presumably, she knew that other than US Carriers, and submarines that run on nuclear plants, ships of sea run on oil. She was flabbergasted. She launched back into her harangue about shutting down petrochemicals entirely, avoiding the obvious: that we can’t unless we want to go back to sailing ships and slaughtering whales for lamp oil.

What do you do with air travel?

YOU, SIR, NEED TO SEARCH YOUR HEART! The fossil fuel industry is destroying the earth and the natural world, and that is a fact, sir!

AOC is on the committee and launched into one of her “the worst displays of misogyny” rants at Higgins for daring to ask Salter questions she couldn’t answer. According to AOC, the world is ending in eight years, so one can understand Salter’s urgency to transition back to wooden ships and sail.

This week, another squad member, Rashida Tlaib wanted a moment in the sun to pad her environmental cred with ridiculous questions posed to bankers. She wanted commitments from all of the witnesses that their banks would refuse to lend to the oil industry. Unlike Salter, the panel consisted of reasoning adults, not harpies. The first banker asked was Jamie Dimon, of JPMorgan Chase, the largest of the Big Four banks.

Tlaib: “Does your bank have a policy against funding new oil and gas products, Mr. Dimon?”

Dimon: “Absolutely not, that would the road to hell for America”

Tlaib: “Yeah, that’s fine. You know what, sir, everybody who got relief from student loans and have (sic) accounts with your bank should probably take their account and close their account”

None of the other banks were quite as short and direct as Dimon but the message from the adults was clear: No, we won’t stop lending to the oil industry.

Without oil, everything grinds to a halt. We saw what happened when gas prices simply jumped. If the oil industry stopped because they couldn’t produce, the world economy would collapse in short order. The ore for batteries that Tlaib thinks will “save the planet” gets taken out of ore pits by monstrous earth movers running on diesel. All the ships bringing products to distant shores run on diesel. Trucks run on diesel.

For the foreseeable future, the world will run on oil. No ranting at Congressmen asking basic questions, or a congresswoman badgering bankers is going to change that fact.

Give us Money or We Call You Racist – Byron Allen Media Group Demands $10 Billion From McDonalds

A California judge is allowing a black entertainment group led by Byron Allen to continue their lawsuit against McDonalds for not spending enough money advertising with the network.   The lawsuit alleges that McDonalds does not give enough of their advertising budget to black entertainment, therefore McDonalds is racist.

Byron Allen is suing McDonalds for $10 billion, demanding reparations from the fast-food chain for not spending enough advertising with his company.

There’s gold underneath those arches.  On its face this looks like the extortion business model of Al Sharpton dressed up in corporate media suits.  It will be interesting to watch how this unfolds.

Sept 20 (Reuters) – McDonald’s Corp has been ordered by a U.S. judge to defend against media entrepreneur Byron Allen’s $10 billion lawsuit accusing the fast-food chain of “racial stereotyping” by not advertising with Black-owned media.

In a decision on Friday, U.S. District Judge Fernando Olguin in Los Angeles said Allen could try to prove that McDonald’s violated federal and California civil rights laws by deeming his networks ineligible for the “vast majority” of its advertising dollars.

Allen accused McDonald’s of relegating his Entertainment Studios Networks Inc and Weather Group LLC, which owns the Weather Channel, to an “African American tier” with a separate ad agency and much smaller ad budget, depriving them of tens of millions of dollars of annual revenue.

While not ruling on the merits, Olguin cited allegations that Entertainment Studios had since its 2009 founding tried repeatedly and unsuccessfully to obtain a contract from McDonald’s, whose “racist” corporate culture harmed Allen.

“Taken together, and construed in the light most favorable to plaintiffs, plaintiffs have alleged sufficient facts to support an inference of intentional discrimination,” Olguin wrote.

In a statement on Tuesday, McDonald’s lawyer Loretta Lynch maintained that the Chicago-based company viewed the lawsuit as “about revenue, not race,” and believed the evidence would show there was no discrimination.

“Plaintiffs’ groundless allegations ignore both McDonald’s legitimate business reasons for not investing more on their channels and the company’s long-standing business relationships with many other diverse-owned partners,” she said. (read more)

If a black media outlet can sue a corporation for not spreading their wealth, what precedent would this set?

Byron Donalds Delivers Must-See Demolition of Democrat Economic Policy During Hearing

Bonchie reporting for RedState

Rep. Byron Donalds may not get as much press as some other Republican politicians, but he’s an impressive figure who deserves to be heard. That was on display on Thursday during a House hearing centering on the country’s economic woes.

Donalds pressed witnesses on what has caused the current inflation crisis and labor shortage, and in doing so, he absolutely demolished Democrat economic policy. It’s a must-see for people who value solid arguments over shallow gotchas.

The clip is a little over two minutes long, and it’s worth every second.

Donalds begins by laying out the major problem, and it’s one the left desperately wants to avoid. Namely, when a government starts blowing money out like crazy to people who didn’t earn it, you are left with too many dollars chasing too many goods. Donalds presses the witness on the wisdom of that policy. She initially tries to duck the question, accusing the Republican of blaming “working people.” That’s when Donalds just goes off.

He goes on to say that he’s not blaming working people, but that if you have people getting money who haven’t exchanged their labor for it, you end up with a shortage of labor due to people choosing not to work. That labor shortage then leads to the supply chain crises the nation has endured.

As Donalds further notes, it was the American Rescue Plan that caused all this. The decision to kneecap the economy and cause massive inflation was made Joe Biden and the rest of the Democrat Party. They now want to pretend this all just happened by chance, but it was willfully done by economically illiterate politicians seeking glory rather than good policy.

Donalds asks another witness if his description is fair, with the answer being “yes, I think that’s a fair description.” It was a mic-drop moment and the Republican wasn’t done yet. He then made the next obvious point, which is that the only reason gas prices are down is that Biden has emptied the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve. In other words, you paid for those reserves with your tax dollars, and the president has used them as a political tool to make you think you are getting taken coming and going.

Donalds ends with his main point, which is that the Biden administration is blaming corporations for higher prices when it was Democrat policies that caused all of this. When you create a labor shortage for political gain, that leads to the supply chain issues we have, which ultimately leads to higher prices. That’s called supply and demand, and just because Democrats thought the rules of economics didn’t apply to them doesn’t mean they aren’t responsible for the consequences.

Keep an eye on Donalds. This guy has already made a name for himself in a crowded House GOP, and I think his future only gets brighter from here.

Biden Claims To Support Iranian Protesters While Propping Up The Country’s Deadly Regime

Following the death of a young woman detained by Iran’s morality police, massive protests have broken out all the across the country.

Following the death of a young woman detained by Iran’s morality police last week, massive anti-government protests have broken out all across the country.

According to BBC News, “Anger erupted after Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman from the north-western city of Saqez, died in hospital in Tehran on Friday following three days in a coma.”

“She was visiting the capital with her family on 13 September when she was arrested by morality police officers, who accused her of violating the law requiring women to cover their hair with a hijab, or headscarf, and their arms and legs with loose clothing. She collapsed after being taken to a detention centre,” the BBC report reads. “There are reports that officers beat Ms Amini’s head with a baton and banged her head against one of their vehicles. The police have said there is no evidence of any mistreatment and that she suffered ‘sudden heart failure.'”

Among the nation’s most active demonstrators voicing their opposition to the country’s ruling regime are Iranian women, who “have been heavily present in the protests” and have been documented “waving or burning their veils, or cutting their hair in public.”

“Videos shared on social media have also shown demonstrators damaging symbols of the Islamic Republic,” The Washington Free Beacon reported. “One showed a man scaling the facade of the townhall in the northern city of Sari and tearing down an image of Ayatollah Khomeini, who established Iran’s Islamist government after the 1979 revolution.”

In addition to demonstrations in the capital city of Tehran, protests have also been reported in many of the Islamic Republic’s other major cities, leading to confrontations with the government security forces. According to citizen activists, eight protesters were shot and killed Wednesday night, with Iran’s state media claiming 11 people died, including both demonstrators and state security officials.

While some Kurdish human rights organizations say 15 protesters “have died in western Iran alone,” the true number of total fatalities throughout the country remains unknown.

Joe Biden’s Hypocrisy

The outbreak of the protests has led to statements of support from members of the international community, including President Joe Biden. While speaking before the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday, Biden proclaimed his support for the ongoing demonstrations and the Iranian people in their struggle for freedom.

“Today we stand with the brave citizens and the brave women of Iran who right now are demonstrating to secure their basic rights,” he said.

While the remarks are sure to provide good fodder for America’s left-wing, corporate media to run interference for the Democrat president and distract from his failing policies, they’re a massive contradiction given Biden’s efforts to provide the Iranian government with the resources necessary to develop nuclear weapons. Since taking office last year, Biden and his administration have worked relentlessly to persuade the Islamic Republic to sign on to a new nuclear agreement after the Trump administration withdrew the U.S. from the Obama-era 2015 deal in 2018.

In addition to easing numerous sanctions that will enable the regime to fast-track the development of nuclear weapons, Biden’s administration has also restored “so-called ‘civ-nuke’ waivers,” on Iran, which would allow for “non-American companies to work on civilian nuclear projects” in the Middle Eastern country “without drawing retaliation from the US government.”

As if providing economic relief to Iran weren’t bad enough, the administration’s proposed nuclear agreement would purportedly pave the way for the Iranian regime to craft nuclear weapons much sooner than expected. During a briefing last month, Israel’s Defense Minister Benny Gantz warned that the sunset clauses of the proposed deal are “problematic” and that the accord would allow Iran “to acquire a nuclear weapon when said agreement ended in 2031.”

“Iran has gained knowledge, infrastructure and capabilities—much of which is irreversible,” Gantz said. “This will enable Iran to further expand its nuclear program during the period of an agreement that would have fewer restrictions.”

letter signed by 5,000 members of Israel’s Defense and Security Forum was later sent to Biden in late August, urging him not to sign on to the agreement with Tehran.

At the end of the day, Biden can issue all the feel-good rhetoric about supporting the Iranian people he wants. None of it will change the actions he and his administration have taken in negotiating a horribly structured deal that will only continue to provide Iran’s dictatorial regime with the military power it needs to inflict greater suffering upon the Middle East and the Iranian people.
