Resign, Joe

As dangerous as Harris would be as president, she would at least be less likely to let her tongue slip us into World War III.

It is difficult, perhaps impossible, to describe just how bad Joe Biden is at his job. Comparisons to Jimmy Carter are pervasive, but trite—and too flattering to Carter. Perhaps a more apt (and dark) analogy, given how civic strife has reached a fever pitch, is to James Buchanan, historians’ typical consensus pick for worst president ever.

Indeed, to fully capture the absolute horror that is this senile near-octogenarian’s presidential swan song would be a Herculean task, better suited for a David McCullough-style biography than a column. But for present purposes, and despite the difficulty of narrowing down from such a vast sample size, consider a few examples from recent months.

In late March, in a combative speech in Warsaw, Biden veered off-script and announced that Russian kingpin Vladimir Putin “cannot remain in power.” There is a sordid history of such meddlesome talk when it comes to U.S. foreign policy, encapsulated by John Bolton’s shockingly candid on-air admission to Jake Tapper this week that he has “helped plan coups d’etat.” Biden, in Poland, thus explicitly called for regime change against the long-standing leader of a nuclear-armed hegemon. As the writer David P. Goldman immediately pointed out, multiple generations of Cold War-era U.S. presidents knew to never so explicitly provoke the Kremlin. The White House immediately—and implausibly—attempted to walk back, and downplay, Biden’s clarion utterance.

In May, for the third time in under a year, the White House similarly had to walk back a Biden claim about the United States’ willingness to go to war to defend Taiwan against a possible—perhaps impending—People’s Liberation Army invasion. During a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Biden was asked point-blank if Uncle Sam would defend Taipei if Beijing invaded. Biden answered “yes”—botching the actual commitment the United States made in the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979, under which the United States is merely required to provide prophylactic defensive resources to Taipei, not to actually defend it in the event of an invasion. A mealy-mouthed White House statement tried to walk it back, but the damage was done. Biden had also made virtually identical comments last August and October; turns out the adage about not being able to teach an old dog new tricks is true.

This week, Biden touched down in Israel for the first Middle East trip of his presidency. Upon landing at Ben Gurion Airport, Biden stepped off Air Force One and quickly asked his aides, “What am I doing now?” Shortly thereafter, Biden stumbled his way to a microphone and pronounced his desire to “keep alive the truth and honor of the Holocaust.” The following day, during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, Biden alluded to a “list” of preapproved—and presumably friendly—reporters that his team had prepared for him beforehand. This was less than a week after an embarrassing flub back in Washington, when Biden read off a teleprompter, Ron Burgundy-style: “end of quote, repeat the line.” And that was just a few weeks after the president fell off a stationary bicycle.

These are not mere frivolous “gaffes,” the sort of thing one can laugh off. These are horrific misstatements with harrowing diplomatic and geopolitical implications, at best, and indications of a palpable senility, at worst. There is something very, very clearly wrong with the president of the United States. Even the New York Times, which for former Biden boss Barack Obama functioned as Democratic Party Pravda, ran a recent piece entitled, “At 79, Biden Is Testing the Boundaries of Age and the Presidency.” A mere three days later, Michelle Goldberg, a reliably progressive columnist for The Gray Lady, entitled her own column, “Joe Biden Is Too Old to Be President Again.”

The fix is clearly in.

The doddering dolt from Delaware currently boasts a 38.7 percent average job approval rating in the oft-cited RealClearPolitics average, placing him a whopping 17.2 percent underwater. That 38.7 percent number is historically low for this juncture of a presidency, in the modern history of opinion polling. Perhaps that abysmal statistic is partially explained by another historic number: the 9.1 percent annualized consumer price index inflation increase last month, itself a four-decade high. And inflation is hitting extremely popular foods very hard: Eggs are up 33.1 percent annually, butter 26.3 percent and chicken 18.6 percent. Average national gasoline prices are now at an all-time high. Joe Biden, the onetime hardscrabble “working man” from Scranton, Pennsylvania, has overseen catastrophic inflation, disproportionately harming the very lower- and middle-income voters his political party purports to care about.

At this point, with even the Times turning on him, Biden is not going to be the Democrats’ presidential nominee in 2024. The only relevant question is whether he should resign right now. He should. Because as dangerous as Kamala Harris would be as president, she would at least be mildly less likely to let her tongue slip us into World War III.

Been busy today with another show. Here's tonight's news:

How Mattis Betrayed His Fellow Marines at the Behest of the Deep State

How the Pentagon’s top-brass burned the careers of subordinates then pivoted to lucrative careers while losing the wars they were supposed to be winning.

My new book, A Few Bad Men, details the mendacity and mad dishonesty of retired Marine General James “Mad Dog” Mattis. The fact that it was written by a Marine once under his command, whom he betrayed for the sake of politics and getting to slap on another star, says volumes about this once-lionized figure.

It all goes back to an incident in Afghanistan in 2007, and the Court of Inquiry trial of innocent Marines that followed, which Mattis himself instigated.

Lt. Colonel Steve Morgan, USMC (retired) and jury member of the 2008 Marine Special Operations Command’s Court of Inquiry says in the foreword to A Few Bad Men, “This is a case of a perfect storm of toxic leadership.”

The most legendary Marine of all time, Lieutenant General John A. Lejeune, the 13th commandant of the Marine Corps, laid out clearly how to effectively nurture and lead Marines: “Make every effort by means of historical, educational, and patriotic addresses to cultivate in their hearts a deep abiding love of the Corps and Country” and “the key to combat effectiveness is unity and esprit that characterizes itself in complete irrevocable mutual trust.”

If only General Mattis had taken this to heart.

On February 3, 2005, when Lieutenant General Mattis was attending the Armed Forces Communications and Electronic Associations forum in San Diego, he said: “You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn’t wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain’t got no manhood left anyway. So it’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them. It’s fun to shoot some people. I’ll be right up there with you. I like brawling.”

He also likes hearing the sound of his own voice.

During this same time, Mattis partnered with General David Petraeus to develop the joint counterinsurgency doctrine of winning hearts and minds. Mattis hijacked the phrase from the Hippocratic oath for his Marines to follow, “First do no harm.” This sounded good to the media and politicians in Washington, but Marines are not physicians and Afghanistan was no sterile operating room. It was a hellscape in which Marines constantly faced threats and the possibility of betrayal from 360 degrees. Mattis’ Marine Hippocratic oath sent mixed signals for his Marines, who had it on his good authority that “It’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot . . . some people.”

Just over two years later, I led the First Marine Special Operations Task Force. We landed in Afghanistan on February 12, 2007. Before long the First was involved in a complex ambush near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, on March 4, 2007. We were attacked by a suicide car-bomb, waves of Taliban fighters on both sides of the road, a sniper, and a mob that placed an obstacle to trap us in an ambush kill box. We  successfully counterattacked, killed the Taliban terrorists, avoided civilian casualties, and returned to base within 20 minutes, where we learned of the Taliban’s swift information operations campaign that was already underway, accusing us of mass-murdering Afghan civilians. The Taliban’s version of events went out within 20 minutes through the BBC followed by countless others. Ultimately, the president of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, condemned our actions and the Army generals kicked us out of Afghanistan within five days. Crushing the Taliban in battle morphed into a PR victory for the extremists in the media and a weakening of the allied forces in country. Due process went right out the window.

Ironically, Mattis was assigned as the convening authority by the commandant of the Marine Corps in August 2007, to be responsible for the investigation and a Court of Inquiry into our March 4 battle. Mattis received the results of my polygraph test and the sworn testimony of all the Marines involved in the firefight, confirming that on that morning no Marines said they killed any civilians or saw any civilians killed.

Unlike Lejeune’s comments of “cultivating a deep abiding love of Country and Corps in the hearts of your Marines and that the key to combat effectiveness is unity and esprit that characterizes itself in complete irrevocable mutual trust,” Mattis unleashed an unprecedented 45 criminal investigators and four prosecuting attorneys against the seven Marines falsely accused by the Taliban of mass murder. It would become the longest war crimes trial in Marine Corps history.

Mattis placed a “protective order” (a.k.a. gag order) prohibiting the two Marine officers who he named as codefendants from making any statements to the press or face punishment. Our attorneys would face disbarment. The already unlevel playing field was tilted hard against the Marines who had won a battlefield victory under fire.

Additionally, Mattis’ prosecution team found perceived vulnerabilities in the Marine commandos and commenced “ethnic targeting” of two Hispanic Marines. Mad Dog’s prosecutors continuously interrogated one of them, and the government manufactured a statement from him that our fire was out of control during the March 4 ambush.

The prosecution then threatened to deport the Marine’s mother back to Mexico unless he signed the statement. That Marine testified he was coerced into signing the prosecution’s false statement. Another Hispanic Marine also testified he was repeatedly threatened by the prosecution to take a polygraph, which was not a legal order, but the prosecution ordered him to anyway. None of the other Marines were subjected to these strongarm Gestapo tactics.

Mattis turned the prosecution over to his successor in the fall of 2007 as he received his promotion with a fourth star. The following year, the trial acquitted all of us. No thanks to Mad Dog Mattis. He got his star. A few bad prosecutors under his watch cost the Marines a few good men, and diminished America’s position in Afghanistan at a time when that war might still have been won.

Mattis went on to serve as the commander of all U.S. Forces in the Middle East at U.S. Central Command in Tampa, Florida. As I detail in A Few Bad Men, there he came under the influence of Elizabeth Holmes, founder and CEO of Theranos. Holmes had a device she claimed could detect all kinds of disease in a few drops of blood. It would change the world, if it worked. Holmes contacted Mattis in August 2012 and wrote Pentagon officials requesting, “How do we overcome this new obstacle? I have tried to get this device tested in theater asap, legally and ethically. This appears to be relatively straight-forward yet we’re a year into this and not yet deployed.”

The main problem Mattis was willing to overlook was that the FDA had not approved Theranos’ blood testing technology to be used on our troops in Afghanistan, but Mattis was hoping he could push it through, right or wrong.

Mattis retired and went on to make a fortune serving on four corporate boards, including Theranos and military contractor General Dynamics. Theranos’ technology would not only be denied FDA approval, but it was proven to be a fraud. During the Elizabeth Holmes trial, Mattis, who had served as a Theranos board member for several years, testified that he was unaware of any of Theranos’ scandalous actions. This seems unlikely, given Mad Dog’s legendary tenacity, and the fact that he had a fiduciary duty to know what was going on.

Holmes’ device never worked. She is now a convicted fraudster. Was Mattis her gullible mark or a greedy participant?

Mattis’ disgraceful actions are laid bare in A Few Bad Men. He used his position as secretary of defense to bottle up the Freedom of Information Act requests to get our testimony in that March 4, 2007 ambush exposed. Our shocking testimonies have now been released and tell a terrible story of betrayal by a Marine against other Marines. They reveal why the Pentagon’s top-brass generals who burned the careers of subordinates but then pivoted to lucrative careers with every defense contracting company lost their forever war in Afghanistan, and really, haven’t won a war in decades.

11 Of The Biden Administration’s Greatest Failures So Far

From historic failures internationally to crises at home, the Biden administration makes every single thing it touches worse.

It’s no exaggeration: Joe Biden is bringing the country down in a tailspin. From historic failures internationally to crises at home and dropping approval ratings, Biden’s administration makes every single thing it touches worse.

Taken alone, each of these failures is pretty damning, but as a whole — or at least even just this small sampling — they reveal the degree to which our 46th president is a danger to America’s well-being.

1. Facilitating a Deadly Border

On June 20, an abandoned semi-truck was found to contain more than 40 dead migrants, with the death toll later rising to 51. The deceased have been confirmed to be Mexican, Guatemalan, and Honduran citizens entering the United States illegally, although 20 others’ national origins remain undetermined.

On a recent trip to Mexico, Federalist staff saw firsthand the devastating effects of Biden’s refusal to enforce U.S. border and immigration laws. As a result, our southern border is controlled by cartels, which smuggle and exploit men, women, and children — a process that can be deadly.

2. Shipping Illegals to a Community Near You

In addition to ignoring the border crisis, the president is secretly shipping illegal migrants across state borders and into suburban cities and family neighborhoods. In February, he planned to dump 1,000 Afghan refugees right next to Loudoun High School without contacting local law enforcement about the plan.

According to The Daily Wire, the Department of Homeland Security said the Federal Protection Service would provide security for students located next to unvetted foreign citizens, but since FPS has no jurisdiction in Loudoun County, this pledge was meaningless.

3. Holding Kids Hostage to Trans Radicalism

In May, the Biden administration attempted to strongarm public schools into letting males who identify as transgender use girls’ bathrooms by threatening to pull federal funding for school lunches if they didn’t. That’s 30 million lunch-program students Biden took hostage to push his party’s trans radicalism.

4. Tapping into Emergency Petroleum Reserves

Laying all blame on Putin for gas prices that are double what they were before Biden took office, Biden has commissioned the selling of 1 million barrels of oil per day for six months from our national emergency reserve. Instead of saving our stockpile for an emergency and resurrecting the Keystone pipeline and other major American energy projects Biden killed, the administration is using up the largest release from the stockpile in our history — and suggesting you buy an electric car.

5. Botching the Afghanistan Withdrawal

Pulling out of Afghanistan was always the plan — but not the disastrous way Biden did it. By leaving before Afghan forces were prepared, abandoning the Bagram Air Base before evacuating American citizens and Afghan allies, and leaving American citizens, weapons, and equipment for the Taliban to commandeer, Biden committed a tremendous strategic and humanitarian error.

6. Supporting Child Castration & Sterilization

The White House is openly championing “gender-affirming” surgeries and brainwashing attempts targeted at young children, and Biden is not simply a moderate bystander. He has threatened “immediate action” against state governors and attorneys general who decry castration of a kid as child abuse.

7. Driving up Inflation

As Americans are reminded every time they buy groceries or fill their gas tanks, Biden’s policies have caused, or at least exacerbated, record inflation and unsustainably high consumer prices. By throwing money at problems the government largely created through the so-called American Rescue Plan, relinquishing U.S. energy independence, and printing more money, among other fiscally irresponsible policies, the president has helped make just about everything Americans need more expensive.

8. Letting Babies Go Hungry

Due to government-mandated shutdowns that slowed deliveries, burdensome regulations, and then Biden’s Food and Drug Administration’s shutdown of the largest baby formula-making plants in the country, Americans found themselves unable to find needed formula, leaving infants in hospitals and families desperate. Their desperation turned to frustration with the Biden administration when they realized the president was using their tax dollars to buy and ship formula to illegal immigrants at the border.

9. Forcing the Covid Jab

Despite his so-called “pro-choice” posture, Biden sought to force Americans to put vaccines into their bodies by issuing a rule that all workers in any business of more than 100 employees must get vaccinated or else be constantly tested. His vaccine-or-test mandate for workers was overruled by the Supreme Court and later withdrawn by his administration.

10. Scheming to Enact Abortion Radicalism

Biden has expressed support for an abortion-specific carveout for the filibuster, advocating for an exemption strictly to empower Congress to codify Roe v. Wade without having enough votes. This radicalism is despite his previous passion for the filibuster and Democrats’ constant use of it during President Donald Trump’s tenure.

11. Tanking His Own Approval

Biden has utterly failed to keep the country’s approval, with his ratings down to record lows. The latest CNBC poll out this week shows Biden’s approval rating at an abysmal 36 percent. That’s even worse than Trump’s lowest ratings ever, despite the former president weathering instability over Covid-19 and cultural upheaval after the death of George Floyd.

Republican Establishment Already Looking to Give up on the Mid-Terms

Bonchie reporting for RedState

Stop me if you’ve heard this story before. Republican establishment figures don’t get their way in a primary and promptly run to the liberal media to express how winnable races will now be lost, costing the GOP an electoral victory.

You’ve almost certainly heard it before because it’s exactly what happened in 2016 as the consultant class rushed to proclaim that Donald Trump simply couldn’t beat Hillary Clinton. He wasn’t going to just lose. He was going to be crushed, they said. Of course, he did win, going on to appoint three Supreme Court justices that recently delivered a multitude of long-sought decisions, including the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

No lessons were learned, though. The same establishment of Republican leadership, consultants, and pollsters are already looking to throw in the towel on November’s mid-terms. And to make matters more absurd, they told this story to Axios, a liberal rag.

Top Republicans, once confident about winning control of the Senate in the midterms, fear they’ll blow it after nominating several deeply flawed candidates in winnable states, according to conversations with GOP strategists, pollsters and other officials…

…”The environment is excellent for us. We just can’t fumble the ball on the five-yard line,” Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), a top McConnell lieutenant, told Axios…

What’s happening: In several crucial Senate races, polling, fundraising and news coverage tell a similar story. The Republicans are on the defensive rather than surfing the national wave of dissatisfaction with Democrats.

It’s all just so tiring. I understand the notion that GOP primary voters didn’t select the best candidates, and some of Donald Trump’s endorsements were selfish and moronic. Still, the situation is what it is. This is not the time to run to the liberal media to express frustrations, signaling weakness. It’s the time to buck up, take the reins of the horse you’ve got, and do what it takes to win.

Herschel Walker is only down three points in the latest poll, with Brian Kemp up seven. That means there’s an easy path to get Walker over the finish line. Even Mehmet Oz, who many reading this opposed during the primary, has a rather simple path to victory. There is no reason to be talking defeat or “fumbling” anything in July before a mid-term. Do you want to do a post-mortem? Then wait for the deaths to occur first, and do everything you can in the meantime to prevent them.

But as usual, the establishment class seems to care more about being able to say they were right than actually winning and delivering for voters. Like it or not, primary voters chose who they chose. That isn’t going to change. The candidates are the candidates. My rule has always been that once the primaries are over, you roll with what you’ve got.

Giving up on Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Arizona would be moronic. It would be throwing in the towel while leading by multiple touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Who cares what the polling says? Every cycle since 2014 has severely underestimated Republicans in Senate races. Play to win, not to be “right.” The GOP establishment would be smart to do that, including the donor class that is needed to fund these campaigns.

Joe Biden's Brain Goes Haywire in the Middle East, and That's the Least of His Worries

Bonchie reporting for RedState

It’s been quite the week for President Joe Biden, and that’s led to a smorgasbord of material for writers here at RedState. The president’s brain farts, confusion, and general ineptness have delivered an embarrassing amount of noteworthy moments since he landed in Israel on Wednesday. We saw his physical inability, his mental inability, and his temper flare. Most of all, we witnessed failure, as Biden walked away from the Saudis without securing any type of win on the energy front.

On Friday, the president delivered this gem of a comment during his presser, managing to not tell the reporters what he means, while bragging that he always tells them what he means. Can anyone translate this?

I’ve read the transcript of that remark about a dozen times, and all I’m getting out of it is a headache. I guess he was trying to say something akin to “I say what I mean and mean what I say”? Honestly, I have no idea, which is not a good sign when you are talking about the President of the United States operating on the world stage. I can just imagine Chinese dictator Xi Jinping and his boys having a good laugh over this. They don’t look at Biden and fear his competence because he exhibits none.

Really, what are we doing here? At some point, those around the president need to get him back in the basement, because this has long moved past the point of being funny and into the realm of harming American interests. Heck, does anyone think the fist bump the Saudi crown prince gave to Biden–that caused so much outrage–was meant to do anything but show the president’s capitulation, after he previously proclaimed he’d never meet with Mohammed Bin Salman?

Yet, somehow, Biden’s policies manage to be worse than his senility. During the same presser, he had this to say about gas prices.

Even in that clip, his inability to articulate an argument is apparent; though, it’s a secondary complaint at this point. What does his trip to Saudi Arabia have to do with US gas stations lowering prices? Given Biden secured no concessions from the Saudis on oil production, there is no connection.

Regardless, it’s so clear that we are dealing with a president who has no policy chops at all, and every day that his term drags on, more and more Americans are harmed. Contrary to naive suggestions that you could stick a warm body in the White House while prioritizing “normalcy,” the ability to negotiate and get things done actually matters. Biden traveled to Saudi Arabia, fist-bumped a dictator, and walked away with nothing. His response? Some cryptic ranting about gas prices.

Even then, gas prices are not coming down in any meaningful way yet. The national average is sitting at $4.57 a gallon. That remains a record high compared to any historical price prior to Biden’s entry into office. Are American families really supposed to rejoice over saving $5-10 a week in gas, while it still costs nearly double what it did under the last president? And the only reason oil is dropping in price is that the inflation crisis and higher interest rates are starting to choke off economic demand. So yeah, gas prices are going down… and all it took was a recession. Great job, Joe!

I know many on the right, including myself, have complained about the fact that Biden spends nearly every weekend on vacation in Delaware. But honestly, that’s the best place for him. At least there, he’s just falling off his bike and he’s not tearing down American stature while emboldening the nation’s adversaries in the process.

MSNBC 'Expert' Malcolm Nance Claims Republicans Are Terrorists Like the IRA

Jim Thompson reporting for RedState

In April, I wrote about MSNBC’s “analyst” Malcolm Nance. Nance announced to great Twitter fanfare that he was “done” talking about Ukraine. He was off to war, damn it! He was gonna go full-Rambo on some Rooskies! He tweeted photos of himself all kitted up in a pristine uniform fresh off the LARP rack. He was subsequently mocked, furiously and without mercy, by guys who saw actual combat because Nance is an embarrassment. A posing, LARPing clown. The only thing he killed in Ukraine was a few hundred boxes of donuts.

For months, Nance continued to tweet (presumably) from Ukraine– not from combat but from park benches where (unlike his promise) he did a lot of talking. The only thing Nance has ever been good at shooting is his mouth. In an infamous video, Nance was seen pointing at the sky and checking his compass on his arm, as he announced the type of incoming ordnance (that’s something he could tell just from the sound) as he shouted STANDBYSTANDBY, all while doing his best impression of a confused John Belushi in “Animal House.”

To remind my readers, Nance is a LARPing clown. He was mocked while he was in the Navy, and mocked by everyone with common sense who has ever listened to his brand of nonsense. In short, he’s a clown.

So, it is no wonder that he’s back from his phony adventures, beating back hordes of Cossacks to hawk his new book. It seems his combat days are now concluded (although his Twitter account still has a photo of him wearing his LARPing combat helmet), and he’s ready to spread a new kind of nonsense.

He says the Republican Party is now an insurgency of white supremacist terrorists.

On Wednesday, Nance appeared on an episode of MSNBC on Peacock streaming service’s “Zerlina.” It was to sell his new book, and vomit out his feckless claims that Republicans AKA White Nationalist are an insurgency of terrorists that eventually Americans will have to fight in the streets (presumably in open warfare).

“As a terrorism expert… you have to understand what kind of terrorism we might be dealing with – you have to label it as white extremism because we have 30 percent of the population of the United States who no longer believe in the democratic norms that we established in the founding of the country. Let’s just be honest about that.

The January 6 uprising was an attempt to overthrow American democracy. And we have now learned from the hearing that Donald Trump intended to go there, to march down to the well of the House of Representatives, and essentially be crowned as a king.”

Where does he get this nonsense? Like everything else Nance does and says, it’s generally made-up on the spot, like his combat “expertise.”

Host Zerlina Maxwell teed up a softball for the MSNBC “expert.” She said:

“You call what is happening an insurgency. We have heard that term in foreign wars recently in Iraq. Talk about why you apply the term insurgency to what you see here as a persistent and ongoing threat of domestic extremists?”

Nance then added:

“I was reading their forums. I was reading their own intelligence about what they intended to do. It was pretty clear at that point that they were going to try to either overthrow the government or they were going to settle in for a long-term series of destabilizing actions using a political party, the Republican party, as their political base and then using violence, threat of violent extremism as a way to manifest change in the street.

So remove politics from the halls of power and change politics through violence on the street. This is called an insurgency. The insurrection that happened on January 6–that was one event. An insurgency is a chain of events. It’s common knowledge.

A year-and-a-half ago, when I was calling this an insurgency, people were saying, that’s crazy, this isn’t an insurgency, this isn’t like Iraq, it’s not like Libya, it’s not like Syria. Well, it is. And it’s well on its way.

It’s closer to the beginnings of the Irish Republican Army. You know Irish Republicanism, where now the Republican Party is Sinn Fein, and it’s just a matter of seeing who comes up as the original Irish Republicans in this story and starts carrying out acts of violence to affect change.

So, we are well on our way to a multi-year campaign that we are already two years into, this campaign where we may have to fight them. The ‘they’ in my title and the ‘they’ in my title is those who want to kill Americans are your neighbors.” (emphasis added)

You can watch the interview here:

Like another grifter Don Lemon, Nance is full of BS.
This time, Nance is selling a book of it.

Wells Fargo Proactively Cuts Profit in Half to Save Funds for Predicted Loan Losses

This shouldn’t come as a surprise.  Most banks and financial institutions are being very careful right now as they prepare for the consequences of consumers running out of money.  All banks are securing reserve accounts in anticipation of defaults increasing.

July 15 (Reuters) – Wells Fargo & Co said on Friday its second-quarter profit nearly halved as the bank set aside more funds to cover potential loan losses, while its mortgage lending business came under pressure from higher interest rates.

The fourth-largest U.S. bank reported profit of $3.1 billion, or 74 cents per share, compared with $6 billion, or $1.38 per share, a year earlier. Its total loan loss provisions were $580 million in the quarter, including a $235 million increase due to loan growth.

Under an accounting standard that took effect in 2020, banks must factor the economic outlook into loan loss reserves. Last year, the bank had released $1.6 billion from its reserves for loan losses as the economy rebounded from the pandemic.
