Why I Refuse to Testify Before the Illegitimate January 6 Committee

You know things aren’t right when even people who attempt to cooperate are attacked, and when documents given to the committee are leaked, and in some instances doctored
by the committee.

Some people have asked me why I refuse to testify before the illegitimate January 6 committee. They say, “Ooooh, you must have something to hide or else you would testify.” I say that type of thinking is not only naïve in this age of political warfare, but it is also dangerously un-American.

Every institution of this nation has been weaponized by the Left for the purpose of arrogating power to themselves and destroying their political enemies. They want to ruin everyone they believe is standing in their way of turning America into the leftist paradise of which they dream.

Have we forgotten how the Federal Bureau of Investigation was used to spy on President Trump during his campaign for president in 2016? Testimony at the Michael Sussman trial confirmed that Democrat Hillary Clinton, Trump’s opponent, instigated the Russia collusion hoax

The media went along with it. The media supported it. And, the media used the fake Russia story to try and derail Trump’s candidacy and then his presidency.

After Trump was elected, Clinton constantly referred to him as illegitimate and the pawn of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Even after the Mueller Report debunked that mad theory, some members of the January 6 committee still believe and propagate the hoax.

Yes, the media and the federal government have been weaponized.

We see it in the disparate treatment of the January 6 rioters and trespassers, and the treatment of the Antifa and Black Lives Matter rioters of 2020.

Many January 6 defendants have been denied bail and have been in prison for over a year awaiting trials that seem never to come. Most Antifa and BLM rioters weren’t even arrested. Those who were, got released quickly, and Kamala Harris and other leftist politicians helped raise their bail money.

It’s past time to give the January 6 defendants due process.

Then you must consider the context of the onslaught against American values where kids are arrested or suspended from school simply for messing up someone’s pronouns.

Now we must also consider the attempt to destroy the House of Representatives as an institution.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has repeatedly rammed through changes in the way the House operates to give herself more power, to empower her congressional allies, and to minimize the traditional rights of the minority party.

First, she led the fight to have Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) removed from all of her committee assignments because of social media posts from years before she ever ran for Congress. This was unprecedented but now will likely become the norm for a generation.

She also attacked Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) for an anime meme that allegedly portrayed him as a cartoon hero attacking Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-N.Y.). Democrats voted to censure Gosar, and Pelosi removed him from his committees. No word if Pelosi is going to review all of AOC’s intemperate comments or remove Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) from her committees for her anti-Semitic statements.

Then Pelosi rigged the January 6 committee itself. In an unprecedented step, she denied House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) selections for the committee. She appointed the anti-Trump, anti-Republican duo of Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) and Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), ensuring only members who supported her desired political outcome would serve on the committee.

The committee has been issuing subpoenas to the public and now, members of Congress, without authority. The committee is required to submit subpoena requests to the ranking member of the committee before subpoenas can be issued. But there is no true ranking member. Pelosi removed the ranking member McCarthy selected to represent the Republican conference.

Liz Cheney, while still officially and unbelievably a member of the Republican conference, was not appointed to the committee with the support of the conference. She was instead chosen by Pelosi to be a lackey for the Left’s desired political outcome. Without a true ranking member, the committee cannot properly issue a subpoena.

The committee also has proven that it is indeed conducting a witch-hunt against political enemies. Pelosi has attacked her putative replacement, McCarthy. She and her lackeys also seem fixated on the House Freedom Caucus, as four of the five members to be subpoenaed in this unprecedented manner, are members. Two are former chairmen of the Freedom Caucus and a third is the current chairman.

You know things aren’t right when even people who attempt to cooperate are attacked, and when documents given to the committee are leaked, and in some instances doctored, by the committee.

For instance, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) took to the floor to misquote and take out of context, a communication between Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and former Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows so he could suggest a sinister intent.

Recently, the committee leaked a text message that I sent to Meadows shortly after the 2020 presidential election. That the committee is leaking anything is absolutely indicative of the bias of its members.

Pundits and the press went berserk about my text to Meadows. The headlines and stories were misleading and hyperbolic.

The substance of the text show that state legislatures and governors in states where there was alleged fraud may have had a legal path to the prevent certification of electors.

That was true then. It remains true today.

But, the bedwetting, anti-Trump media types were apoplectic that I would send such a message to Trump’s chief.

Similarly, the committee, which is populated by members of Congress who objected to certification of electors when Trump won in 2016, believe that anyone who objected to 2020 electors somehow attempted to overthrow the government.

The committee believes that if anyone, including myself, met with anyone else to explain why there was an objection, then those who discussed the statutory process were somehow plotting an insurrection. In truth, like Democrats in 2016, Republicans were merely discussing the legal process.

In the meantime, Democrats who wrongfully claimed there were “reconnaissance tours” of the Capitol led by Republicans, go undisciplined for their defamatory and totally debunked statements.

Pelosi won’t release more than 14,000 hours of surveillance video from the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Pelosi won’t be compelled to testify before the committee about her role in the riots of that day.

Americans no longer trust the media, don’t trust the federal government, and certainly don’t trust Congress.

Neither do I.

I have watched the Star Chamber proceedings of the January 6 committee and have reached the conclusion that not only is it illegitimately formed, in violation of the rules of the House, it is manifestly organized for one purpose: a search and destroy mission against any and all perceived political enemies.

Frankly, it would be irrational to submit oneself to maltreatment by enemies of America. They want to bring down this country and are content to destroy every institution, including the House of Representatives, and individuals like me.

X22, And we Know, and more- June 9

Had better luck sleeping today, and I'm doing great! Here's tonight's news:

The Subordinate Citizen ~ VDH

Americans feel that ordinary citizens like themselves who follow the rules are treated more harshly by their own government than are both noncitizens and our own progressive elites.

I recently led a group of about 100 citizens to tour Israel for nearly two weeks. Before returning to the United States, all participants had to indicate their vaccination status and take a COVID-19 test for reentry.

Anxieties swept the group as Israeli testers swabbed them.

Anyone testing positive would have to delay his return. That quarantine would entail spending thousands of dollars in finding scarce hotel accommodations, additional living expenses, and rebooked airline tickets—depending upon the length of the mandatory sequestration.

Contrast the tens of thousands of foreign nationals now mustering to cross illegally into the United States again this summer. They follow the already 2 million who have entered the country unlawfully since Joe Biden became president.

Does any foreign national worry about being tested for COVID-19, much less fear being turned away if he tests positive or for lack of proof of vaccination?

Or do we scrutinize far more carefully U.S. citizens entering legally their own country than we do noncitizens crossing our borders unlawfully?

For that matter, the government is still determined to fire thousands of federal workers and U.S. military personnel who refused the new mRNA vaccinations. Most citizens who were not vaccinated feared that the inoculations were either possibly dangerous to their health or ineffective in preventing COVID-19 infections or would not necessarily lead to herd immunity.

Are 2 million nonvaccinated foreigners arriving unaudited from impoverished countries less of a threat during the pandemic than fully audited American citizens employed by the federal government? Why would we fire unvaccinated Americans but welcome equally unvaccinated noncitizens?

The Biden Administration blasted the Trump southern border wall and canceled all further funding.

Yet it just appropriated $40 billion to Ukraine to ensure that it does not lose its border war against Russian aggression.

That is a tiny percentage of the federal budget. But the aid is full of symbolic irony, nonetheless. The multibillion-dollar appropriation would have more than covered the completion of the entire wall along our own southern border.

An outside observer might conclude that the U.S. government intends to uphold the universal idea of national sovereignty, internationally recognized borders, and the security of citizens inside their own country—as long as they are not American citizens.

There are currently over 550 “sanctuary” jurisdictions established by state and local governments. They aim to prevent federal immigration authorities from deporting illegal aliens, including tens of thousands detained by law enforcement for committing additional crimes.

The nation has not experienced such blatant nullifications of federal laws since the efforts of pre-Civil War Southern states—or the 1960s southern governors who defied federal efforts to enforce U.S. civil rights legislation.

So, can any citizens now simply vote to declare their hometown or local county immune from federal legislation?

That is, can a city or county nullify as it pleases the IRS tax code, endangered species laws, or federal gun registration legislation?

Or is nullification only permissible in the interest of non-citizens and lawbreakers?

These asymmetries also transcend noncitizens.

We have developed entire classes of American elite citizens who are not subject to the enforcement of the law—at least as it is applied to others either less influential or ideologically incorrect.

Federal prosecutors sought to jail Lt. General Michael Flynn for six months for not telling the truth to federal agents.

They put another Trump subordinate, George Papadopoulos, in jail for two weeks for lying to federal prosecutors.

Recently the FBI stormed into an airport to arrest former Trump advisor Peter Navarro for contempt of a congressional subpoena.

OK, defying federal law has consequences.

Or does it?

Former Obama Administration Attorney General Eric Holder brazenly defied congressional subpoenas and was found in contempt—an historic first.

Did the FBI ever arrest Holder, much less as he boarded an airplane?

James Clapper, former director of national intelligence, confessed he flat-out lied under oath to a congressional committee.

So did former Central Intelligence Agency cheif John Brennan—twice!

Andrew McCabe repeatedly lied to federal investigators as acting director of the FBI.

Were any of them arrested or tried in the manner of Flynn, Papadopoulos, or Navarro?

If not, what then is left of the foundation of U.S. citizenship—universal equal treatment under the law?

There are lots of reasons why the looming November midterms will likely see historic levels of pushback against the Biden Administration, Democratic candidates, and the entire progressive agenda.

Take your pick of the many self-induced Biden disasters, among them hyperinflation, unaffordable gasoline, out-of-control crime, and foreign-policy humiliations.

But one reason why voters are furious is rarely expressed.

Americans feel that ordinary citizens like themselves who follow the rules are treated more harshly by their own government than are both non-citizens and our own progressive elites.

And they are right, and they are angry, and we will hear from them very soon.

Poll: Americans Know Guns Are Not The Problem, Our Culture Is

A new USA Today/Ipsos poll administered to 1,117 respondents this past weekend reported that half of Republicans “support stricter gun laws.”

Those numbers seem to indicate that a large chunk of Republicans strongly support Democrats’ anti-gun agenda and could be used as political leverage to convince wavering Republicans in Congress to rethink their historical backing of Second Amendment rights. And that’s exactly what USA Today not-so-subtly tried to do in its recent article “Half of Republicans support stricter gun laws, a double-digit jump in a year.”

“The increase in GOP support — from 35% last year to 50% — could boost the prospects for Congress to tighten federal gun laws, an effort that has failed for decades,” the article argued.

Even if those results are accurate — which is highly unlikely and something Americans should never assume about polls, especially after the 2020 election — further down in the article, you see that both Democrats and Republicans don’t actually think guns are the driving factor for shootings like those in Buffalo, New York; Uvalde, Texas; and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

At least 80 percent of red and blue voters agree that the “mental health system bears at least some responsibility for mass shootings.” More than 50 percent of Republicans and Democrats also blame violent video games for the rise in shootings in movie theaters, grocery stores, churches, schools, and other public areas.

There’s still an alarming number, two-thirds, of Democrats who think former President Donald Trump, who has been out of office for nearly a year and a half, is somewhat to blame for recent shooting tragedies (which further reveals the absurdity of these polls). Approximately 42 percent of Republicans say they blame President Joe Biden, a number that’s risen significantly since last year when it was 27 percent. A high percentage of Democrats are also more likely to think that factors such as racism and white nationalism were the root cause of these shootings.

The bottom line is that voters, even those who claim to support vague calls for “stricter gun laws,” understand that restricting law-abiding citizens’ gun rights isn’t going to solve the evil, fundamental motivations fueling the criminals who unleash gunfire on other Americans.

As The Federalist’s Elle Reynolds noted, even though there’s been a rise in deadly shootings in the last 20 years, “the firearms that civilians have access to today are not significantly deadlier than the ones that were manufactured for civilian use over half a century ago.” This signals a problem much bigger than lethal weapons and one that certainly won’t be solved by Biden’s lie-riddled gun rhetoric.

Young Man Who Targeted Kavanaugh Wanted to 'Give His Life Purpose' — Why That's a Big Problem

Cameron Arcand reporting for RedState

I have a few questions to start out, addressed to my fellow young men: Are you doing okay? How’s your spiritual life? Do you have a solid support system, and things going on in your life that are meaningful?

I’m asking because it’s time to say the quiet part out loud: There’s a massive crisis of mental health and spiritual brokenness among our demographic in this country.

When I found out that the man who intended to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh at his home early Wednesday morning was 26 years old, I was not surprised.

But I was even less shocked when I discovered that he told authorities that he wanted to “give his life purpose,” according to CNN, by attempting the politically motivated act. While people can discuss all day how the suspect was upset about the possible overturning of Roe v. Wade, or how he had a handgun despite being against the Second Amendment, there’s a larger theme at work here.

One should consider that this man, the Uvalde shooter, and the Buffalo shooter, were all young men. Those are just recent examples.

They all needed serious mental help, or at least better help. By going to such extreme lengths with their actions, it’s the failure of their support systems, their communities, and our culture.

Let’s be honest: Our current culture glorifies violence and dismisses the need to uplift young men. Sure, mental health problems have become less stigmatized, but faith has become taboo and even discouraged in some circles. Adolescent men’s mental health needs are still generally not prioritized, and healthy masculine solutions to leading a purposeful life are frowned upon.

Men like the one who wanted to violently take down Kavanaugh desperately need a higher purpose; that way, acts like this become completely unreasonable. Clearly, there was a level of spiritual brokenness at hand here.

If you have a teenager or 20-something man in your life, they’re probably not thinking up plots to do horrific acts on others, but they might be going through mental health struggles that they are unwilling to admit. Perhaps they feel like they do not have any direction in their lives.

If you’re a young man, the best thing you can do is go to church and find a healthy community there. I’m not saying you need to become some ultra-religious nut, but a solid faith life will work wonders. Maybe that is not your thing, but it’s worth a shot. If the thought of that makes you feel sick, at the very least you might need to talk with others about what you’re going through–ideally, in person.

In addition, getting a job and keeping one most of the time is helpful, too. It not only helps occupy one’s time but also helps you figure out strengths and weaknesses in a way that’s productive. This is especially important for teenagers, who might need to build back social skills after the coronavirus lockdowns.

When I constantly hear these stories about young men my age doing (or attempting to do) horrific things nationwide, it’s disheartening–especially because there are ways to prevent it.

Twitter Reverses Position, Will Allow Elon Musk Access to Background Data

I think most people agree, the request from Elon Musk to see the background data from Twitter, used to evaluate bots and fake accounts, was entirely reasonable.

Twitter’s prior position that they would not permit Musk’s team to see the data stream was in ordinary violation of the terms of purchase.  It would seem to be commonsense that Musk has every right to inspect the data and evaluate Twitter’s prior assertions.

WASHINGTON POST – After a weeks-long impasse, Twitter’s board plans to comply with Elon Musk’s demands for internal data by offering access to its full “firehose,” the massive stream of data comprising more than 500 million tweets posted each day, according to a person familiar with the company’s thinking, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the state of negotiations.

The move aims to end a standoff with the billionaire, who has threatened to pull out of his $44 billion deal to buy Twitter unless the company provides access to data he says is necessary to evaluate the number of fake users on the platform.

The firehose could be provided as soon as this week, the person said. Currently some two dozen companies pay for access to the trove, which comprises not only a real-time record of tweets but the devices they tweet from, as well as information about the accounts that tweet.

[…] Twitter’s leaders are skeptical of Musk’s ability to use the fire hose to find previously undetected information: The data stream has been available for years to some two dozen companies, which pay Twitter for the ability to analyze it to find patterns and insights in the daily conversation. They, along with some analysts and Silicon Valley insiders, say that Musk is using the data requests as a pretext to wiggle out of the deal or to negotiate a lower price. (read more)

NFL Coach Causes a Mass Triggering After January 6th & BLM Comments

Bonchie reporting for RedState

NFL coach Jack Del Rio, who is currently the defensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders, has found himself in hot water following some comments he made at a recent news conference.

The controversy started when Del Rio recently commented on a post about the January 6th committee, wondering why the same emphasis isn’t put on the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020 that killed dozens of people and led to billions of dollars in damage.

Del Rio’s question is, of course, completely fair. It is illogical to pretend that a three-hour riot at the Capitol – in which the only person murdered was a protester – is somehow more worthy of Congress’ obsession than the multitude of high-profile BLM riots that plagued the United States. Those riots led to numerous kills and people losing their livelihoods.

When pressed on the matter at his press conference, Del Rio doubled down, going so far as to call January 6th a “dust-up,” downplaying its significance in relation to the BLM riots.

January 6th is a religious date of observation for the left. It forms their very being, undergirding their ideology of “democracy,” and it is the only thing they have to run on going into the November mid-terms. Del Rio choosing to downplay it is a mortal sin–and one that won’t be forgiven. That he’s using January 6th as a comparison to bring up the BLM riots only makes things worse in the eyes of the left. They want to memory-hole the latter while obsessing over the former. Any straying from that narrative leads to vicious attacks.

Because of that, you can expect a full-scale attempt to get Del Rio fired for what he said, and a quick Google search will show that’s already partially underway. The left-wing sports sites (i.e. pretty much all of them outside of Outkick) and sportswriters are fuming.

You see, it’s “saying the quiet part out loud” to be against violent riots that destroy entire city blocks, lead to multiple murders, and cost thousands of (mostly black) people their safety and ability to make a living. To be clear, that’s all that Del Rio said. He never critiqued the actual BLM movement, though it would have been more than proper for him to do so, given its vast record of corruption and incitement.

So good luck to Del Rio, because the outcry is going to be swift for him daring to cross the left’s redline. Will the Commanders stick by him? Will he bend the knee and apologize? I guess we’ll find out.

Democracy Institute Poll: 56% of Americans Say Replacing Biden Better than Replacing Putin 43%

The Express.UK has a poll released today [DATA HERE] showing U.S. sentiment toward the Ukraine crisis.  “More Americans believe that it would be better for them for Biden to be removed (56 percent) than Putin (43 percent).” Also, “Russia is also only seen as the fourth biggest international threat (14 percent) compared to China (45 percent), Iran (20 percent) and North Korea (17 percent).”

The entire poll is devastating for the Biden administration – SEE MORE HERE

Hey, Democrats, No One Gives a Damn About Your Hearing

Article by Derek Hunter in Townhall

Hey, Democrats, No One Gives a Damn About Your Hearing

Ever watch 2020 on a Friday night? Or Dateline? What once used to be serious “news magazine” shows have devolved, like everything else in journalism, to a complete waste of time that exists only to manipulate your emotions and keep you watching. Every week, they’re reality murder mysteries where half way through you’re convinced (because producers manipulated you into believing) the killer is someone it’s not. By the end, the truth is revealed in a way that leaves you in shock. It’s as predictable as the setting sun. And so are Democrats.

When word came out this week that the January 6th committee – Nancy Pelosi’s inner circle of flying monkeys eager to do as much damage to Republicans as possible – had hired the former head of ABC News to “produce” their big prime time hearing tonight, I knew the only thing missing would be the melodramatic Keith Morrison voiceover.

The simple fact of the matter is the American people don’t give a damn about any of this. Was the January 6th riot good? Hell no. It was stupid. But was it a “threat to democracy”? Absolutely not.

There was no plan, no plot. To the extent that anything was coordinated it was between a couple of guys no one has ever heard of who, for reasons maybe someone should ask the FBI, did their best to stir people up. Creating an angry mob and getting them to do stupid things is pretty easy, Democrats spent a year leading up to the 2020 election doing just that. Does that mean it’s a plot to overthrow our government?

In the case of Democrats, maybe. They did sustain their attack until it was no longer needed, whereas the January 6th riot lasted a couple of hours. The majority of people who entered the Capitol that day did so on the Senate side, not the House side where the fighting was taking place. Having worked in that building I can tell you it’s huge and it’s easy to have zero clue what’s happening on the other side of it while you’re in it. As the small mob was breaking windows, more people walked in the Senate side through doors held open by Capitol Police. They even got directions to parts of the building from police so they could get the best selfies. There are police officers in Seattle and Portland still traumatized by Democrats trying to set them on fire with Molotov Cocktails and permanently blind them with green lasers who’d love to have had that kind of interaction with their mobs.

The American public has seen all of this footage for a year and a half and we’re unimpressed. That some self-important blowhard politicians might’ve been scared for a few minutes that day, or a couple of staffers had a few nightmares is irrelevant, honestly. Not a single Member of Congress or their staff was physically assaulted. If they were a blood thirsty mob looking to murder, they really sucked at it.

Punish the people who did fight with police or did damage the building, but everyone else should be treated like they are Democrats and be given a BLM/ANTIFA pass. The only person killed that day was Ashli Babbitt and the cop who killed her didn’t even face professional discipline, let alone charges. No matter how many times Joe Biden and other Democrats lie and claim police officers were killed that day it won’t make it true.

So when the left drag this waste of time and money into prime time, complete with dancing Liz Cheneys, no one cares. We’ve heard it all already, we’ve seen it all already. That these people are content, even proud, of Americans being held in solitary confinement for more than a year for the “crime” of parading on government property tells you more about them than any of those arrested. That two leftist lawyers could get sweetheart deal slicing off 90 percent of the jail time they were facing for trying to kill police in the name of BLM/ANTIFA “justice” while Americans who were simply in DC that day are harassed tells you everything you need to know about where the real “threat to democracy” is coming from.

To hell with the Democrats and their GOP puppets name Cheney and Kinzinger, to hell with the media coordinating an in-kind donation to carry a rehashing of a “nothing new” hearing live in prime time. We aren’t interested.

And spare us the lectures about “violent rhetoric” in a week that sees yet another progressive leftist arrested trying to murder a conservative. After a month of “They’re trying to rip away your right to an abortion, you must do something” and worse, one of their side took them literally and plotted to kill a Supreme Court Justice. MSNBC’s ratings decreased by one viewer, but their intensity turned up to 11. Finally, they have proof that someone is watching and their message is getting through. Maddow will just have to monologue harder next time.

Yeah, to hell with all of these people and their stupid hearing.

Lights! Camera! Action! It’s The Primetime Jan 6 Committee!

Bob Hoge reporting for RedState

Grab the popcorn and the Red Vines (Twizzlers, if you’re on the East Coast), put up your feet, and prepare to get excited–it’s the primetime Jan 6 hearings, broadcast live Thursday at 8 pm Eastern on ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and MSNBC. Fox News is choosing to stick to its regular lineup, which makes sense because its evening shows often pull in over 3 million viewers each.

No word on if there will be a halftime show, or if Beyonce has agreed to perform.

Skip your plans to go see “Top Gun: Maverick” because this hearing might be even more exciting. You won’t be bored – as my colleague Jeff Charles reported, the committee has turned to the talents of former ABC News president James Goldston to produce the hearing, as if it “were a blockbuster investigative special” which will be “raw enough so that skeptical journalists will find the material fresh, and chew over the disclosures in future coverage.”

Who’s going to star in this Hollywood-style spectacular? The committee has been tight-lipped about its witnesses, but rumors abound that videotaped testimony of Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump will be shown. It’s also widely expected they will feature extensive, never-before-seen videos of the events inside and outside the Capitol.

The real question is: will there be any new information, and will it implicate Trump? As we reported, committee member Adam Schiff, D-CA, promises that “a great deal” of new evidence will be offered. He’s failed to deliver on such promises so many times in the past, though, it’s hard to give him any credence.

Washington Post reporter Carol Leonnig certainly is excited:

“I think, Nicolle, you are going to see some bombshells that day,” Leonnig told MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace. “I applaud my colleagues who have been reporting on this curtain-raiser for the hearings to come. The one that will be led and focused on Donald Trump, I understand, will have a lot of Donald Trump’s own words as relayed by witnesses, as relayed by Donald Trump himself, people who were at his shoulder. And, so, you will see a kind of a split-screen. What was happening on the capitol at the same moment as what was happening inside the White House with Donald Trump.”

Meanwhile Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-MD, is making really big promises, saying the hearings will “blow the roof off the House.” That’s a big (and violent-sounding) boast, but we’ll see if he can deliver.

Another question is: why are they even holding this hearing? (They’re also holding more in the future, possibly up to 8, but those won’t be aired in primetime. Be still my beating heart.) Jeff Charles has an answer:

The hearings are nothing more than a last-ditch effort for Democrats to win some political points before receiving the shellacking that is coming during the midterm elections.

Yeah, that about sums it up. MSNBC disagrees though, asking themselves a rhetorical question: “How necessary is all of this?” Their profound answer: “By some measures, little matters more.”

Tell that to moms struggling to find baby formula.

Despite all the breathless headlines and excited news anchors, the hearings appear to be nothing more than political theater designed and produced to raise the country’s temperature once again, and “get” Donald Trump. It’s hard to imagine any blockbuster new information coming out, because A) if such evidence existed, it surely would have leaked, and B) we already saw plenty of footage and evidence in Trump’s second impeachment trial. The main difference here is that, unlike the impeachment trial, there will be no Republican pushback because Trump-hater Liz Cheney, “R”-WY, and the constantly-crying Adam Kinzinger, “R”-IL, are the only GOPers on the committee.

While I don’t condone the actions of some on January 6, and I think those who attacked police should face the music, I don’t see how this over-hyped committee hearing helps the country–when we have so much else to worry about right now, like inflation, war, and skyrocketing crime. I don’t know that a lot of people wake up and immediately start worrying about January 6.

The Democrats and their lapdog media friends have put a lot on the line for this, and if it doesn’t deliver blockbuster information and high ratings, it will be considered a failure.

I’d say there’s a good chance they end up with egg on their faces.
