Comrades, Spring Has Arrived, Overnight Open Thread

Rejoice, with the first day of spring upon us, you have officially survived the “winter of severe illness and death for yourselves, your families, and the hospitals you may soon overwhelm.”

It was touch and go for a few moments, but the random sniffles, sneezes, coughs, stuffy heads and fevers did not deter you from living.

Congratulations fellow rebels, you are champions.

Putin’s Death Mirror

Why is Putin doing this?

“If it is given at all to the West to struggle out of these tangles of the lower slopes to the spiritual summit of humanity then I cannot but think it is the special mission of America to fulfill this hope of God and man. You are the country of expectation, desiring something else than what is. Europe has her subtle habits of mind and her conventions. But America as yet, has come to no conclusions. I realize how much America is untrammeled by the traditions of the past, and I can appreciate that experimentalism is a sign of America’s youth. The foundation of her glory is in the future, rather than in the past; and if one is gifted with the power of clairvoyance, one will be able to love the America that is to be.”Rabindranath Tagore, Indian Poet

For the past two weeks, we have been hearing a lot of talk concerning Russia’s actions in Ukraine. The corporate media is fixated on how we must punish Russia and its leader for invading. It is quite obvious that once we have consumed our dose of the daily news, we are supposed to blame Russia in every way possible. Western media and business entities have pulled out from the Russian market. Russian banks have been cut off from international payment systems. Cryptocurrency wallets have been targeted. Russian shops in the West have met a barrage of negative reviews and boycotts. Not even Tchaikovsky and Dostoevsky have been spared!

Does this scapegoating work? From looking at recent history we know that sanctions and similar actions against enemy countries are not practical solutions. Contrary to what the regular talking heads at CNN, MSNBC, and Fox might say, sanctions are just as effective at enabling dictators as they are at destabilizing nations. Did sanctions work against Iraq, Iran, and North Korea? The answer is pretty evident. On the other hand, from a moral point of view, sanctions are like bullets in that they also kill people. They aim to rob and starve whole populations who may or may not even agree with their governments.

Why is Putin doing this? Is the man crazy or is there a deeper anthropological explanation for his actions that the rulers of the West have an incentive to avoid? Some believe Putin wants to rebuild the Soviet empire, yet others insist that he is a Christian fundamentalist who wants to be the successor to the Czars. Both these assertions might be true, but we have little evidence to prove either of them.

What seems more realistic is that Putin is made from the same cloth as the Obamas, the Clintons, the Bushes, et al. Indeed, as recent as January of this year, Vladimir Putin spoke at a virtual conference at the World Economic Forum and implemented the same authoritarian restrictions during the pandemic as Western elites like Justin Trudeau and Emmanuel Macron.

Let us look at some of Putin’s statements delivered when he was accused of meddling in Western affairs. Putin repeatedly has argued that what he does pales in comparison to what the United States government has done in its foreign policy endeavors. When Biden called Putin a “killer,” Putin replied, “We always see in another person our own qualities and think that he is the same as us.” In another statement, Putin said to Biden, “Don’t be mad at the mirror if you are ugly.” Any student of the French anthropologist René Girard will immediately identify these statements as highly mimetic. In other words, Putin is only doing what he has learned from the West’s policies in recent history. It is not a stretch to call him an imitator of the government of the United States.

Putin very much considers America his mimetic rival. It does not take an anthropologist to recognize that in the modern world whatever America does, the world, especially Russia, follows. The reason for this is very clear: America has the highest GDP and is dominant in the information market; the United States also has the most powerful military in the world. Putin wants that kind of commanding position for his country, but unfortunately, like most leaders, he thinks that the way to achieve this dominating status is to mimic America’s increasingly tyrannical domestic and foreign policies.

There’s a reason why America’s ruling elites, whether conservative or liberal, have a penchant for avoiding any discussion related to their horrendous track record on war. Should they start talking about the countless lives lost in American interventionism there is no doubt that their careers would nosedive. They also might be forced to realize that there is a direct correlation between war and technological stagnation and growing economic debt. What Putin does—and he has publicly talked about this on numerous occasions—is provide a mirror to these elites that reveals their actions as all the more banal.

If Putin’s government is a mirror to America’s failing globalist policies, what must American leaders do to nullify Putin’s threatening stance and, dare I mention, transform the heart and mind of the Russian president? The answer lies in the words of John Quincy Adams:

Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be. But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all . . . [America’s] glory is not dominion, but liberty.

American citizens can discuss the value and consequences of liberty like no other country before or since its founding. This is due to the weaving of the Christian story into America’s culture. America can find the renaissance spirit again but, it cannot do so while waging endless wars overseas and censoring and imprisoning non-violent people at home.

When Americans realize that a statist “might-makes-right” philosophy is self-defeating and self-cannibalizing, America will rekindle the spirit of the Wright brothers and the Nikola Teslas and find solutions through voluntary interaction and creativity. Instead of demanding censorship for America’s scientific dissidents, it should celebrate and uplift them as pure examples against a politicized, profit-driven system that is corrupting true science in order to advance the interests of the elite.

How can America become a positive role model for the world? The answer is very simple: America must stop engaging in wars overseas and injustices at home. America must find the spirit of innovation and creativity again. The bureaucratic and institutional hurdles that only serve to impede progress must be rendered useless. Enough energy has been spent on information warfare. Once America, through voluntary interaction and creativity, is successful, leaders like Putin and his mirror of death will fade away into obscurity and Russia too will seek to mimic the standard-bearer of liberty.

Other then a press release for a future NCIS LA episode pissing me off, I'm actually pretty calm right now. (for now...)

Here's tonight's news:

As Nuclear War Approaches, America Needs Space-Based Missile Defense

Only by securing America’s place in the strategic high ground of space can the country defend itself on the Earth below.

For the first time in decades, the United States is staring down the prospect of a nuclear war with our old rivals, the Russians. As Russia continues with its illegal invasion of Ukraine, Moscow is throwing every element of their military into the ongoing fight. As this occurs, the Americans and their NATO allies continue arming and giving support to the embattled Ukrainian resistance—which Moscow increasingly says is an escalatory move by the Western alliance that will not go unanswered.

While Russia’s war in Ukraine grinds on, the rapidly nuclear-arming rogue states of Iran and North Korea continue making threats against the United States and our allies as well. Recently, Iran tested what they are claiming was a satellite (but that most experts understand was likely a backdoor test for an intercontinental ballistic missile) and lobbed missiles near the U.S. consulate in Erbil, northern Iraq. North Korea has engaged in similar missile launches. What’s more, North Korea may have tested a rudimentary hypersonic weapon in January of this year (which prompted the FAA to briefly shut down all air traffic along the west coast of the United States).

China, meanwhile, continues to pour money into its own growing war machine. Last summer, for example, Western analysts were shocked by the discovery of a massive arsenal of nuclear missile silos in the Chinese desert. That discovery was followed on by the even more stunning display of China’s advanced hypersonic missile technology—a weapon system against which America has little defense. Russia, too, has its own arsenal of hypersonic weapons as well as a nuclear arsenal that is both larger than that of the United States, and which may (at least in the non-strategic nuclear weapons category) be more advanced than that of the United States.

Therefore, the strategy of deterrence upon which Washington has relied for many decades to ensure America’s continued security is rapidly disappearing. Deterrence has long been predicated on the assumption that no country possessing nuclear weapons would be insane enough to court direct conflict with another nuclear weapons state because there could be no victor in such a conflict. Both nations that dared to wage a nuclear war would be destroyed. Yet, as the words of America’s own enemies have shown, it appears to be an exclusively American assumption that nuclear war is unwinnable.

Despite these American assumptions about the unwinnable nature of nuclear warfare, U.S. rivals are not only developing many more nuclear weapons than the Americans possess, but these rivals are building new technologies, such as hypersonic weapons, that will outpace American defensive capabilities. If these trends persist, then, America’s deterrence will be dead—and the United States will be left in the weaker position, inviting greater attack from these foes.

In fact, America’s enemies—notably Moscow—have for years accurately assessed that the United States defeated the Japanese Empire in World War II precisely because of their use of limited nuclear warfare. Russian military leaders have never shared the apocalyptic view of nuclear warfare that American leaders historically havbelieved.

Restoring deterrence, therefore, will not come from the United States simply matching the number and sophistication of either the growing nuclear weapons arsenals of Russia and/or China. And given how much difficulty America has had in creating its own hypersonic weapons, hoping for America to match the capabilities of either China or Russia is an insufficient policy in the near-term.

A better solution is for the United States to pull ahead of our enemies while we still can. America enjoys the greatest technology and innovation base of any country in the world (though that lead is steadily eroding). If America’s enemies no longer fear the country’s nuclear deterrent, if those rivals insist upon investing in technologies designed to circumvent America’s military dominance, then the United States must attempt to end-run its enemies in its own unconventional way.

Space-based missile defenses are America’s only hope for overcoming the offensive capabilities of its enemies. To defend against nuclear weapons and hypersonic missiles, space-based capabilities are key for intercepting these ghastly weapons of destruction before they can reach American airspace.

What’s needed is a coterie of new space-based sensors to detect and track incoming hypersonic weapons and interceptors in orbit that can, as the name suggests, launch immediately upon detecting enemy hypersonic weapons and knock them from their course. Similarly, with nuclear weapons, America must have space-based ballistic missile defenses always circling the globe to prevent any incoming nuclear weapon from getting too close to the mainland United States.

America’s failure to create next-generation defenses, such as reliable space-based missile defenses, within the next decade will lead to catastrophe. Presently, the world is teetering on the brink of a nuclear war—however limited—with Russia. Those who say it cannot happen are wrong. Clearly, Moscow (and likely Beijing) assume that they are nearing the tipping point where the correlation of forces favors them and not the Americans. At which point, an all-out strike against the United States is conceivable, if not probable, should tensions boil over.

All of America’s leaders must stand together and demand that the United States Space Force begin an immediate program for expanding America’s ailing national defenses to the cosmos before America’s advancing rivals believe that America’s deterrence is obsolete, and they can achieve a modicum of victory in war with the United States rather than peaceful coexistence. Only by securing America’s place in the strategic high ground of space can the country defend itself on the Earth below.

The Battle in Mariupol Is Intense and Filled With Western Propaganda

The Battle in Mariupol: Russian Military Fighting Ukraine Azov Battalions & Ultranationalists in Eastern Region

The picture in Eastern Ukraine is becoming clearer as the residents begin being able to talk openly about the key battleground in Mariupol.

Keep in mind, the western narrative about the battles in Eastern Ukraine are all framed around calling the Ukrainian military, spearheaded by the Azov battalions and the ultranationalists, as the good guys.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  According to increasingly obvious reports, coming from ordinary citizens in/around Mariupol, the Ukrainian army has been using them as human shields and keeping them from evacuating.

There is a lot of war fog surrounding the conflict, however, it is the absence of any pro-Ukraine army sentiment from the local residents that supports the evidence the Ukraine military (Azov Nazi battalion, supported by U.S. and NATO alliance) are actually the bad guys in this region.  The eastern region conflict has been ongoing for years, with Russia supporting the residents and the Ukraine military attacking them.

The Russian army has been fighting the Ukraine military in/around Mariupol while the Azov battalions have kept the citizens captive.  However, the Russians are now surrounding the Ukraine military and slowly clearing each of the surrounding villages allowing the formerly captive people to leave or seek safety.

At least in this part of the conflict, the U.S. and NATO alliance is supporting the brutality against Eastern Ukrainian citizens by supporting the Nazi factions of the Ukraine military.   There is a genocide happening in this region, but it is the Ukraine military, the far-right ultranationalists in the Azov battalions and others doing the killing, not the Russians.

If the residents in Eastern Ukraine do not align with the ultranationalist factions of the Ukraine military and fight the Russians, they are subjected to gross human rights abuses, beatings and threats against their families.  Western nations are supporting this activity and deploying extreme propaganda messaging to cover it up.

There are no pro-Ukraine military stories from the residents in this region of the conflict.  All of the residents in the Eastern Ukraine region, including the city of Mariupol, are saying the Russian military are the liberators of the region.  A Telegram Channel is documenting the evidence – SEE HERE.

Against the reality of that situation in Mariupol, President Zelenskyy, NATO and the western media are promoting a narrative that runs completely counter to what little truth is able to escape from the area.

Within the western propaganda, the Russians are reported to have “taken captives,” with a propaganda spin of Russia setting up concentration camps for the citizens in/around Mariupol.

(MSM) […] Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the siege of Mariupol would go down in history for what he described as war crimes committed by Russian troops and raised the specter of a “third world war” if negotiations with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin fail.

“To do this to a peaceful city, what the occupiers did, is a terror that will be remembered for centuries to come,” Zelenskyy said in a video address to his nation Sunday.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Russia is killing citizens in Ukraine because its invasion has stalled, describing the tactic as “disgusting.”

“We’ve seen deliberate targeting of cities and towns and civilians throughout the last several weeks,” Austin said on CBS’ “Face The Nation.” (read more)

The propaganda out of the Mariupol battlespace is extreme.

As the Ukrainian military (Azov etc) take up positions in schools and public buildings, any Russian attack against those troops is then called an attack against civilians.  There is zero evidence of that taking place; exactly the opposite is true.  The Ukraine forces in this region are using the citizens as shields and cannon fodder against the Russian forces.

Despite the propaganda, truth is coming out in the form of evidence from the ordinary citizens in the area (SOURCE):

Again, when you are trying to find the truth, the voices on the ground are the most likely source of actual information.  In the example of the area in/around Mariupol, the people who live there are pointing out that the Ukraine military, paramilitary enforcers, and ultranationalists are the terrorists.  The Russians are viewed as the liberators.

Despite how the media is portraying this, there is ZERO evidence from the citizens in/around the area to support the western narrative.  That tells us the locals are up against the totality of western propaganda.

For emphasis…. IN THIS REGION:

♦The anti-Russia stories are all from corporate media, none from citizens.  The anti-Ukraine army stories are all from citizens, none from corporate media.

♦The pro-Ukraine army stories are all from western media, none from citizens.  The pro-Russian army stories are all from citizens, none from western media.  You decide.

One of the mysteries of our time is why the sports world has gone woke. Not, surely, in response to popular demand from sports fans. But woke it is, and ESPN leads the way. Maybe this has to do with being owned by Disney, a citadel of leftism.

In any event, check out this minute of silence during the women’s NCAA basketball tournament. Why the minute of silence? To protest Florida’s new law that says kindergartners through third graders can’t be proselytized in school on behalf of homosexuality and transsexuality. Note the smug self-righteousness with which such a common-sense measure is disparaged:

Okay, groomer. Apparently one of the things “bigger than basketball” is the “civil right” of five year olds to learn about “gender identity” in school. The absurdity of this claim is obvious.

Who, exactly, thinks it is a good idea to foist such conversations on young children? Other than ESPN, that is–at least one other ESPN host fulminated on air against the Florida law. Certainly most Americans don’t agree. Rasmussen asked the question:

The relevant passage of the new Florida law reads: “Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.” Would you support or oppose such a law in your state?

In response, 62% of likely voters said they would support such a law in their state, with 50% strongly supporting it. Only 29% would oppose a similar law in their state.

What possesses business organizations like ESPN to aggressively endorse positions held by a small minority of Americans–positions that have nothing whatsoever to do with sports!–and proclaim these unpopular views a matter of “civil rights”? That’s not a rhetorical question. I honestly can’t understand why they do it.

While the Florida law has nothing to do with sports, the career of Lia Thomas does. Thomas went through puberty as a male, and, having reaped the advantages of size, bone structure, musculature and aerobic capacity that go with being a man, has chosen to compete as a “woman” swimmer. He has not undergone surgery, and his intact unit now graces women’s locker rooms.

The entire sports establishment applauds Thomas, cheering him as a trailblazer. The women he competes against know better. After Thomas “won” an NCAA championship event, the second and third place finishers invited the fourth-place woman to the podium for a photo that showed what they think about competing against Thomas:

The essence of liberalism is bullying. You can see this across a broad range of issues–all of them, more or less–but the “trans” fad is a good example. Here, liberals take pleasure in forcing the rest of us to pretend to ignore plain facts of biological science. The response of any sensible person is to just say no.

McConnell Says Senate Is Fully Behind Biden Escalating War Against Russia By Using Ukraine

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (U-DC) appears on Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan.  McConnell notes “there may be a few lonely voices off to the side” in congress that are against a war with Russia; however, according to his perspective the “vast majority of the Republican Party” overwhelming supports additional measures to increase U.S. involvement in Ukraine.

In the middle of the interview, Mrs. Brennan notes the DC playbook includes the strongest likelihood of a NATO long term “insurgency campaign” inside Ukraine against Russia if Vladimir Putin is successful.  McConnell notes that congress would support this effort with weapons and logistical support if that was indeed needed.  WATCH:

I’m not sure the “overwhelming majority of Republicans across the country” would necessarily agree with Mitch McConnell, but that doesn’t seem to matter.

Keep an eye on Moldova.  If history teaches us the methods of the State Dept and CIA, we can be assured Moldova is a hotbed of activity right now while the MSM keeps everyone looking at NATO activity in Poland.

Hunter Biden: After rigging the elections, the media attempts to rig your mind

Hunter Biden:

After rigging the elections, the media attempts to rig your mind

By Rajan Laad for American Thinker

After more than two years of the mainstream media dismissing and suppressing news about Hunter Biden’s laptop, The New York Times finally conceded that the story was authentic.

Back in October 2020, The New York Post had carried myriad reports on the shady business dealings of Joe Biden and Hunter. The emails, text messages, and financial documents on the laptop proved that Biden, as vice president, used his influence to generate considerable profits for his family.

The laptop also had photos of drug-addled Hunter in flagrante delicto with a prostitute and even messages of Hunter using the n-word.

Following the NY Post reports, prominent personalities on MSNBCNBCThe Washington PostThe Daily BeastCNN, and The New York Times worked in unison to discredit the story.

Politico claimed that anonymous intelligence officials had branded the news Russian disinformation. The Huff Post reported that more than 50 former intelligence officials had signed a letter to that effect.

NPR, which is funded by U.S. tax dollars, claimed there were “red flags” in the Post’s story.

Meanwhile, Big Tech swung into action with Twitter and Facebook heavily restricting Hunter Biden's laptop news, once again calling it (you guess right) Russian propaganda. Finally, the NY Post’s Twitter and Facebook accounts were locked and so were other accounts that carried the story.

It wasn't surprising. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had donated nearly $419 million to nonprofit originations that infiltrated the administration and infrastructure of key precincts to influence the 2020 election.

They had allowed a relatively free flow of factual information in 2016 which caused their candidate, Hillary Clinton, to lose. This time they were taking no chances with their man Biden. Every step of the way was tilted quite emphatically in Biden’s favor.

To claim that the media is corrupt or compromised is an understatement because it assumes that the media is an independent entity that has been influenced by an external force.

The current media is in fact a propaganda wing for the Democrats. Think of it as a department within the Democrat party and suddenly it all makes sense.

Their function is to glorify the Democrats, everything else is a nuisance that has to be destroyed. Their actions are purposeful and so is their propaganda.

They have also appointed themselves as the adjudicators of taste and even facts. All those who do not subscribe to their utterances are either branded ignoramuses or bigots or agents of Putin.

For any given story, various ‘pundits’ across various organizations have similar views and use identical phrases and buzzwords. This is because the author of the talking points seems to be the same individual who sits in the quarters of the DNC.

Words such as 'insurrection' or 'collusion' did just happen, these were conceived by the Democrats who were assiduously followed by the media.

Their narratives are often contradictory but they still demand total adherence and a complete surrender of critical thinking.

If you do not believe the 2016 elections were rigged, then you are an ignoramus because elections can easily be compromised. However, if you think that the 2020 elections were rigged, you are also branded an ignoramus because elections can never be compromised.

When President Trump refers to the rigging of the 2020 election, the rigging began the very day he was elected in 2016 and continues to this day with one hit job after another.

While the overarching narrative was that of Russian collusion, there were myriad other hit jobs. On certain days Trump was bigoted, senile, ignorant, and incompetent, on others he was a bigoted, evil genius, and megalomaniacal tyrant.

The press misquoted him to the extent that many people, including his supporters, thought that he referred to Neo Nazis as ‘very fine people’ and asked people to inject bleach to fight COVID-19.

They do not even attempt to conceal their bias.

After Biden was ‘elected,’ CNN's Don Lemon referred to the Democrats as "we." NYT’s Maureen Dowd wrote, "We can't give up on Biden because he's all that stands between us and the apocalypse at the hands of Trump." There were neither apologies nor retractions from either organization.

They have developed a small but zealous base who tune in to have their biases and hate confirmed.

They also rely on casual consumers to believe all they see or read without much consideration because they are busy with life. It is conceivable that the relentless chaos and scandals the media fabricated about Trump’s White House were enough for this section to vote against Trump.

According to a Morning Consult poll, 2 in 5 Americans trust the news media, which means 40 percent of the people readily believe all Democrat propaganda.

It will be impossible to know how many Trump votes the media managed to steal with their relentless anti-Trump propaganda.

The fact that President Trump managed to receive over 74 million votes in 2020, almost 12 million more than he did in 2016, is a testament to his outstanding achievements.

Do not for any moment think that the reason the NYT authenticated Hunter’s laptop story is that they have seen the light and will henceforth resort to factual reporting only. It is possible that the Democrats are looking for a way to take Biden out before the 2024 elections campaign kick-off and are using this story as the first punch.

Beyond President Trump, the media relentlessly indulges in Goebbelsian propaganda.

You are ordered to stay indoors, mask up, and take the vaccine without questions. The lockdowns that isolated people from the outside world actually helped them spread paranoia and hysteria.

You are ridiculed for questioning climate change and transgenderism. You are told that BLM riots where shops were looted and burned down are protests while the Jan. 6 protest was an insurrection and Ashli Babbit, the unarmed protestor, who was killed by the Capitol police, deserved to die. You are instructed to condemn Kyle Rittenhouse as a racist or you are a racist.

You are commanded to denounce Vladimir Putin and unconditionally side with Ukraine. If you question Washington wanting to send millions of dollars worth of weaponry to Ukraine, you are accused of spreading ‘Russian disinformation’ and committing treason. Treason is punishable by death.

Despite their terrible track record, their blatancy never wanes. They no longer bother to engage in debate or answer questions, they just shout orders and move on.

Any society where the powers that be are filled with certitude about their righteousness such that they almost criminalize and demonize opposition is swaying away from being a democracy.

Leftists pontificate about the need for protecting democratic values in Ukraine and denounce Russia as a totalitarian state, but their actions of running disinformation that has an impact on an election is undemocratic. But the sanctimonious seldom comprehend irony.

Do not expect any reform or remedial action for the reason that they do not see any errors in their actions.

They say the function of the media is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. The propaganda masters who are lackeys of the establishment are doing the exact opposite and feel no remorse or shame in doing so.

Citizens looking for facts must presume falsehoods until the truth is proved.
