Mediocre Milley Has a ‘Near Sputnik Moment’

One wonders, just exactly what the hell was the Joint Chiefs chairman studying when he attended the U.S. Naval War College to “earn” a master’s degree in national security and strategic studies?

United States Army General Mark Milley, the hapless chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is, for lack of a better term, a four-star ignoramus.

Milley remains in his lofty perch even after Bob Woodward and Robert Costa’s revelation that he called his Communist Chinese counterpart, General Li Zuocheng, to reassure him the United States would not attack in the last days of the Trump Administration.

This unbelievably asinine move was a blatant signal of dysfunction in the uppermost echelon of the U.S. military to a clear adversary. That is, if you want to call obvious violations of the U.S. Code and the Uniform Code of Military Justice—including seditionseditious conspiracy, and misprision of sedition—mere “dysfunctions.”

Worse, Milley’s dingbat phone call was also a mindless, de facto revelation that the United States was eavesdropping on China’s highest-level communications. You can bet that Li did not send his BFF Milley a thank-you note for disclosing the Chinese communications intelligence breach.

Thus Milley demonstrated to the Chinese that he has the strategic acumen of a straight-leg shave-tail bewildered by the problem of pouring “water” out of a boot. But Milley insists it was all on the up-and-up—that the call was “briefed and sanctioned” across the administration, even though he circumvented the chain of command.

And now the jowly, orthodontically-challenged Milley has had a Captain Renault “shocked shocked” occasion of feigned surprise when he breathlessly claimed the United States is in a “near-Sputnik moment” following the test of a new Chinese hypersonic missile.

Evidently, Milley’s pal Li didn’t reciprocate with a warning that the political equivalent of a large Mach 5-plus suppository was en route to his well-fed derriere. Shucks, those inscrutable Chinese!

Given his demonstrably poor judgment, it’s clear the general never bothered to read the seminal Chinese war plan delineated in the 1999 book, Unrestricted Warfare. He couldn’t have read it, because People’s Liberation Army Air Force Colonel Qiao Liang and People’s Liberation Army Colonel Wang Xiangsui laid out exactly how China would expand its power and displace the United States in the next few decades. They had Pentagon mediocrities like Milley squarely in mind when they observed: “The American military clearly is technologically stagnant and it is not good at seizing opportunities provided by new technology for new military tactics.”

The Chinese colonels’ comments are underscored by Milley’s apparent faulty command of history, especially U.S. Army history.  The result is just plain dismal.

While Mediocre Milley was having his “Near Sputnik Moment,” those who are schooled in military history could only chortle: The Army had in its possession a prototype Mach 4 cruise missile called Hermes II . . . in 1947!

Though the first flight went off course and landed in Mexico, the missile still reached Mach 3.6. Unfortunately, the Army lost heart over the next few years and the project dried up. But the technology still exists, and it is in America’s possession.

Milley couldn’t be so oblivious that he is unaware of U.S. hypersonic programs going back for decades and continuing to this day, including NavahoASSETMaRV, the Pershing II terrain correlator, D-21Common Hypersonic Glide BodyTactical Boost GlideConventional Prompt Strike, the Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon, and the Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon. Or could he?

The irony is that obviously under-briefed Milley, who glibly throws around Nazi, Brown Shirt, and Hitler comparisons with the frequency of cheap vibrator, is completely oblivious to the fact that the Hermes II hypersonic ramjet only existed thanks to U.S. Army funding and . . . German National Socialists.

OK, they  were “good” German National Socialists.

Werner Von Braun and 100 or so of his boys (out of the 1,600 ex-Nazis and their families) were repatriated to the United States with fake background papers, courtesy of the Army, under the auspices of Operation Paperclip

And one final irony for Milley: When the real Sputnik was launched and the United States found itself scrambling to catch up with the Russians, who came to the rescue?

Once again, the U.S. Army . . . and it’s “good” German Nazi rocketeers.

Von Braun and his crew, along with a crack team of American military contractors, managed to do the impossible and put a Redstone missile (essentially a long tank V-2 with Rocketdyne upgrades of the V-2 engine and turbopump) on the pad in 90 days and launched an American satellite into orbit.

Milley blunders on as the biggest ego and greatest war loser since the diminutive Union General George “Little Mac” McClellan abandoned the Peninsula Campaign from lack of situational awareness and even greater lack of fortitude.

Like McClellan, who referred to his boss, Abraham Lincoln, as “Nothing more than a well meaning baboon,” the similarly vertically unimpressive Milley had nothing but contempt for his towering boss, President Donald Trump, comparing him to Adolf Hitler in pursuit of a “Reichstag Moment,” and tarring his supporters as “Brown Shirts.”

At least the egotist McClellan had the wit to save his huge supply train of horse-drawn wagons, lest it fall into the hands of the Confederates. Mediocre Milley in Afghanistan, however, had neither the fortitude nor the brainpower to save his supply train, leaving $80 billion worth of arms and equipment behind.

One wonders, just exactly what the hell was Milley studying when he attended the U.S. Naval War College (Class of 2000) to “earn” a master’s degree in national security and strategic studies? And just exactly what will Milley do if and when he is confronted with his next “Sputnik moment”?

Maybe he could call his bubba General Li—and suggest the United States preemptively surrender.

X22 and Stew Peters Show-November 2nd

Evening, folks. Hope election races are going well wherever you live. Here's tonight's news:

Democrats To Americans: If You Disagree With Us, You’re An Insurrectionist

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland's refusal to back off from investigating parents is rooted in the belief that all dissent against the leftist establishment must be repressed.

For Democrats, Groundhog Day came nearly a month early this year. For them, like the character in the classic Bill Murray comedy, every day is Jan. 6. For them, every challenge to leftist orthodoxy, whether in the form of Biden administration policy or local school boards attempting to impose critical race theory, unreasonable COVID precautions, or transgender policies, is another day of insurrection.

They see insurrectionists everywhere. They see them in the media, where they demand that Fox News be canceled or demonetized because of its Trumpist heresies and refusal to treat a Capitol riot — in which the only person killed was an unarmed protester gunned down in cold blood by a police officer — as a new Civil War.

They see them in Congress, where anyone who challenged the 2020 results or resists the Democrats’ bills to ban voter ID laws and make permanent pandemic-based election changes that removed guardrails against cheating are seeking to steal not just the 2020 election but the ones yet to be held in 2022 and 2024.

They also see insurrectionists in state capitals, where legislatures that have passed voter integrity bills that seek to prevent future fraud without taking away anyone’s right to vote as not merely advocates of a new “Jim Crow” but the moral equivalent of the Confederates who fired on Fort Sumter to save slavery.

When Everyone Is an Insurrectionist

It also explains why U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland isn’t backing down on his outrageous effort to treat school board protests as an insurrectionist terrorist conspiracy.

Despite heated questioning from furious Republican senators last Wednesday, he wouldn’t concede that his directive to the FBI and the rest of the Department of Justice to investigate school board critics around the country was based on a lie. He denied that he was targeting the free speech of parents who have protested decisions by school boards on curricula and other policies.

That Garland would stand by the rash directive was all the more curious because the hearing came after the National School Boards Association (NSBA) had apologized for the letter that began this shocking episode.

Garland’s doubling down at the hearing about the need for the government to crack down on opponents does make sense. Or at least it does when placed in the context of his party’s current political obsession.

For nine months the Biden administration, its congressional allies, and its media cheerleaders have treated the Jan. 6 Capitol riot as not merely a disgraceful episode but an “insurrection” and “attempted coup” that represented an ongoing threat to the government rather than just a mob that ran amuck. At this point, it’s clear the Biden team has come to view any dissent from leftist dictums — be they national or local — as not merely unwelcome criticism but the work of Trumpist insurrectionists who must be put down rather than tolerated.

Democrats are determined to go on running against former President Donald Trump and his “deplorable” band of insurrectionists indefinitely. But they have been dismayed by the turn of events in Virginia, where resistance against the radical takeover of the schools by angry parents has transformed the gubernatorial race in what the left assumed was a securely blue state. So it was hardly surprising that the administration would seek to brand those citizens outraged by what was being done to their children as just another outbreak of the same insurrection they have been inveighing against all year.

Cornered by Republican senators, Garland asserted that his memo had not ordered investigations of angry parents as “domestic terrorists. Yet his memo characterized criticisms of officials at public meetings as “harassment, intimidation and threats of violence.” In it, he stated plainly that Department of Justice would use its authority to “identify,” “discourage” and “prosecute” these alleged threats while maintaining “coordination and partnership with local enforcement.”

Even more disingenuously, he denied that the letter from the NSBA, which had been coordinated with the White House had prompted his directive. It labeled people like a Loudoun County parent whose daughter was allegedly raped by a boy in a girl’s bathroom then covered up by the school district as “domestic terrorists.”

‘Terrorists’ Have No Rights

Garland’s willingness to jump into that mess was predictable. Tellingly, earlier this month even after the truth had come out about the alleged rape and its coverup, Loudoun County Democratic Party Chair Lissa Savaglio called the parents “Republican insurrectionists.”

Republicans asked Garland about why the attempt to intimidate Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema into going along Biden’s spending spree when she was followed, harangued, and filmed in a bathroom wasn’t as worthy of investigation as incidents in which school board members were yelled at. Similarly, the invasion of the Department of the Interior earlier this month by a leftist mob demanding Biden adopt even more radical environmental policies didn’t make it onto his radar screen.

Nor is Garland or the mainstream media willing to admit that the hundreds of Black Lives Matter “mostly peaceful” riots in cities around the nation in the summer of 2020 were far more of a threat to public order and government authority than the misguided people who illegally entered the Capitol on Jan.6. But if we have learned anything in the last year, it should be this: Democrats will never stop talking about the insurrection.

In part, that’s because they actually believe their political foes don’t deserve constitutional rights. As we saw with their reaction to the fatal police shooting of Capitol protester Ashli Babbit and the treatment of those facing prosecution over their illegal behavior on Jan. 6, they believe insurrectionists have no rights, including those that guarantee due process.

Democrats also understand that labeling conservatives as domestic terrorists is key to their political survival as Biden’s presidency unravels in the face of domestic problems like the southern border crisis, the supply chain disaster, and feckless conduct abroad. Running on Biden’s record or defending efforts to impose woke ideology on children isn’t likely to bring them success. That means they will go on labeling anyone who questions their ideological hobby horses as Trumpist “traitors” so long as they think it will help them rally their voters to turn out and preserve their power.

Virginia Voters Denied Entry to Polling Place for Refusing to Mask

[UPDATED] Virginia Voters Denied Entry to Polling Place for Refusing to Mask (But No ID, No Problem)

AP Photo/Alex Brandon

Update 3:59 p.m.: Virginia Department of Elections Commissioner Chris Piper issued a statement on Tuesday afternoon after reports of voters being turned away from polling places for not masking surfaced.

“We have gotten several reports of voters either being turned away or being made to wait until the polling place is clear before being allowed to vote if they refuse to wear a mask,” Piper wrote. “You may not turn voters away because they are not wearing masks.”

“While masks are encouraged, every eligible voter is entitled to cast a ballot at their polling place. It is not sufficient to offer curbside voting as an alternative,” he added.

“Additionally,” Piper said, “you may not hold up the line to vote based on whether voters are wearing masks.”

Original story:

Virginia doesn’t require an ID to vote, but is there anything at all that can prevent someone from voting in the state? Well, it turns out that at least one precinct in Fairfax County, Va., is requiring masking in order to enter the polling place. A Fairfax County resident reached out to PJ Media to report that he and his wife were turned away at the door because they were not wearing masks. “You can’t enter the building without a mask,” they were told by a woman stationed at the door, presumably a poll worker. The woman said that the couple and their children—one of whom is a two-year-old with medical issues that preclude him from wearing a mask—would be required to mask up or they would not be allowed to enter the building.

Note the signs on the door at Precinct 507 in Lincolnia:

According to a directive from the DoE, that shouldn’t be happening:

Can we require a voter to wear a mask? No, we are encouraging voters to bring masks if they must show up in-person to vote. However, if someone is not wearing a face covering you may not turn him or her away. You may offer the voter curbside voting or offer them a face covering if you have any extra available. You cannot turn a voter away because they refuse to use a mask.

In fact, even a voter showing symptoms of COVID-19 cannot be barred from entering the polling place:

What if a voter is displaying symptoms of illness? You can offer them curbside voting to ensure they stay outside. If a voter is symptomatic and insists on voting in the polling place, you cannot turn them away.

Yet this sign seems to indicate otherwise:

The voters, who are fully vaxxed and wish to remain anonymous, were not offered curbside voting, as required by the DoE. After they insisted, election officials allowed them to use the curbside voting option. In order to exercise that option, the voters, who said they voted for Republican Glenn Youngkin for governor, were required to call a California number to begin the process, which seems… odd.

Once they did that, two poll workers came out and took their IDs inside. The whole process took about 20 minutes.

Had they not insisted on curbside voting (after Googling what the requirements were) they wouldn’t have been allowed to vote. While the voters were not technically turned away, the poll worker had no right to prevent them from entering the polling place, which raises the question: How many voters have been turned away for refusing to mask? I’m guessing this is more than just an isolated incident because one of the voters received a text message today from someone supporting the Youngkin campaign.

The Virginia GOP is also been made aware of instances of voters being denied entry to the polling place:

There are others as well, including American Conservative Union Chairman Matt Schlapp:

Now, it should be noted that this is a county-owned building, which has its own masking requirements, but, again, the DoE directive is clear that poll workers may not turn away voters who refuse to mask.

On a side note, earlier this year, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam signed a bill into law removing the requirement that voters show photo ID in order to cast their ballots. All that’s needed is a signed statement attesting to the voter’s identity.

From the Virginia Department of Elections:

Do I need an ID to vote?
Voters may provide either an acceptable form of ID or sign an ID Confirmation Statement at the polls.

* Your DMV license may be used at any time. Virginia law permits an expired DMV license to be used for voting purposes.

Can I vote if I forget my ID?
Yes! If you get to your polling place without acceptable ID, you can sign an ID statement affirming your identity, you will be able to vote a regular ballot.

If you do not sign an ID statement to affirm your identity you may vote a provisional ballot. You will be provided instructions to ensure your vote will count.

In other words, it’s on the honor system. If you’re willing to sign a statement saying you’re Joe Voter—who you know is not planning to vote today—you can vote his ballot, no questions asked. When people scoff at the notion that there’s little or no voter fraud, I always ask: How do you know? How would Virginia know if thousands of voters were fraudulently claiming to be someone they’re not? Answer: They wouldn’t. This kind of voter fraud is nearly impossible to detect, so we really have no idea widespread the problem is.

Don’t be surprised if the unauthorized masking requirements in some polling places depress voter turnout for Republican candidates.

Musk for the Win

 Musk for the Win

Steven Hayward for Powerline

I’ve long thought that the categorical criticism many conservatives have of Elon Musk and Tesla was overdone. The Tesla is a great product, and unlike the rest of Silicon Valley, Musk is actually trying to manufacture something tangible, and not just another app, or a fraudulent medical device.  My criticism of Musk was limited to the lavish government subsidies—especially the $7,500 tax credit that goes overwhelmingly to the rich and which Democrats now wish to expand in their budget busting bill—and also the belief that electric cars are “green” and have “no emissions,” when a true life-cycle analysis shows that electric car manufacturing has a huge environmental footprint, plus what are you gaining if the electrons you stuff into the battery come from  coal-fired power plant, as they would in Ohio or Indiana?

Meanwhile, Musk keeps stepping out more publicly against the left. His latest Twitter exchange with a UN twerp is pure gold:

He can “open the books” right now, but I doubt he will.

Chaser: Musk is just the person who might actually do this:

Cue the scolds. But I definitely want a t-shirt.

Where Are the Real Domestic Terrorists?

It’s malfeasance for powerful government authorities, including Joe Biden, to intentionally mislead the American people by stoking unjustified fears of a pending domestic terror attack.

In a political stunt so obvious that only Representative Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) fell for it, the Lincoln Project on Friday reportedly deployed five Democratic activists dressed as white supremacists to a campaign event for Glenn Youngkin, the Republican candidate for governor of Virginia.

The optics were intended to conjure images of the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville; dressed in white shirts and khaki pants, the five human props carried tiki torches, a symbol of the protest that resulted in the death of one young woman in August 2017. Youngkin, like all Republicans, the Lincoln Project LARPers tried and failed to show, can only rise to political power on the tiki torch-wielding shoulders of racist preppies loyal to Donald Trump.

While the stunt immediately was mocked and condemned by the Right—and buried by the national news media—it highlighted the myth that violent white supremacists pose a dire national security threat. And it’s not a narrative solely promoted by journalists or washed-up Republican political consultants burning leftist cash; the falsehood that “domestic violent extremists,” code for Americans on the political Right, are the homeland’s biggest danger has the imprimatur of the Biden White House and powerful federal agencies.

In his inauguration speech, Joe Biden promised to defeat the “rise in political extremism, white supremacy, [and] domestic terrorism.” Characterizing the events of January 6 an “insurrection” carried out by white supremacist right-wing militias and using that as a pretext, one of Biden’s first official acts was to instruct his national security team to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the threat of domestic terrorism and submit the report within 100 days.

Acts of domestic terrorism, according to federal law, are

activities that involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State; appear to be intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion, or to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the United States.

That definition could apply to everything—or nothing at all. Many Americans might understandably argue the destructive and deadly rioting in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death last year meets that criteria far more than a four-hour disturbance in the Capitol on January 6. After all, the post-Floyd political climate has led to a spike in violent crime in cities across the country, jeopardizing the safety of millions of innocent Americans on a daily basis.

But Joe Biden and the ideologues who populate his administration are not targeting Black Lives Matter or Antifa activists; they’re too busy obsessing about unruly parents at school board meetings and Trump supporters who “paraded” in the Capitol earlier this year.

One by one, Biden’s top deputies have dutifully echoed his inaugural clarion call to root out ISIS-like countrymen ready to strike at any moment. A week after Inauguration Day, the acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security issued an urgent bulletin under the agency’s terrorism advisory system that claimed “some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence.” DHS secretary Alejandro Mayorkas advised Americans to avoid political rallies and notify law enforcement of suspicious behavior.

Avril Haines, Biden’s director of national intelligence, issued a separate report in March warning Americans of the lurking danger posed by election deniers and lockdown detractors. “Newer sociopolitical developments—such as narratives of fraud in the recent general election, the emboldening impact of the violent breach of the U.S. Capitol, conditions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and conspiracy theories promoting violence—will almost certainly spur some [domestic violent extremists] to try to engage in violence this year.”

Haines included a sketch of the U.S. Capitol building in her report.

Merrick Garland’s Justice Department is using the imaginary threat of domestic terrorism to charge hundreds of Americans with low-level offenses related to the Capitol protest. The government recently referred to Paul Hodgkins, accused of no violent crime that day, of being a domestic terrorist and urgedthe judge to send a message to other wanna-be terrorists.

“The need to deter others is especially strong in cases involving domestic terrorism, which the breach of the Capitol certainly was,” the prosecutor wrote. “Moreover, with respect to specific deterrence, courts have recognized that ‘terrorists[,] [even those] with no prior criminal behavior, are unique among criminals in the likelihood of recidivism, the difficulty of rehabilitation, and the need for incapacitation.’”

Hodgkins pleaded guilty to one count of obstruction of an official proceeding, not terrorism; nonetheless he’ll serve eight months in prison.

FBI Director Christopher Wray designated January 6 as an act of domestic terror and his agency is treating Capitol defendants accordingly, complete with pre-dawn raids conducted by armed agents; dozens of Americans, including some charged with no violent crime, have been hauled off to a special prison in the nation’s capital and denied bond to await intentionally delayed government trials.

So, nearly nine months later, after all the hyperbole and prosecutions and official bulletins, where are these American jihadis? Surely the 650 people arrested in the government’s ongoing investigation into January 6 do not make up the entire domestic terror cell, especially since roughly 80 percent face misdemeanor offenses and didn’t even realize they were committing an act of domestic terror during their 15-minute jaunt through a public building.

And the militia groups who “stormed” the Capitol? About 50 members or alleged members of the three main militia groups that Wray insists are domestic terror organizations have been charged—and only a handful face weapons or assault counts. The Oath Keepers, the government’s biggest January 6 conspiracy case, left their (legal) weapons in a hotel room in Virginia so as to not run afoul of Washington’s strict gun control laws.

Several Oath Keepers, weapon-free, entered the building in a “stack formation,” took selfies, and peacefully exited 20 minutes later.

Not exactly akin to hijacking a jetliner.

The lethal threat of domestic terrorism is yet another flat-out lie told by both the Biden regime and the news media. Not a single act of domestic terrorism has happened this year, including on January 6. Futher, despite his bluster, Garland’s office hasn’t charged a single Capitol defendant with committing terrorism. The threat is so bogus that a bunch of NeverTrump hacks had to dress up Democratic campaign workers to resemble white supremacist domestic terrorists and plant them at an event in a hotly contested governor’s race.

Meanwhile, urban neighborhoods are under siege by violent thugs whom local prosecutors refuse to hold criminally responsible and the southern border remains an open invitation for lawlessness of all kinds.

Thirteen American servicemen were murdered in August by real terrorists in Afghanistan; Biden’s White House has no clue how many terrorists the country just imported during the evacuation of that war-torn nation.

The only people who died on January 6, on the other hand, were Trump supporters; at least one was killed by a federal police officer.

Deaths in 2021 attributed to people the Biden regime considers domestic terrorists: zero.

It’s one thing for reckless journalists or vengeful government prosecutors to stoke unjustified fears of a pending domestic terror attack. It’s malfeasance for powerful government authorities, including Joe Biden, to intentionally mislead the American people on such a grave matter. Just one more in a series of dangerous lies promoted by Biden and his apparatchiks.

China urges families to store basic supplies in case of emergency

China's government has urged families to stock up on essential supplies in case of emergencies.

No reason was given for the notice from the Ministry of Commerce, but it came amid ongoing coronavirus lockdowns and concerns over vegetable supplies after unusually heavy rain damaged crops.

The ministry also asked local authorities to keep supply chains running smoothly and prices stable.

State media later sought to quell concerns amid reports of panic buying.

"As soon as this news came out, all the old people near me went crazy, panic buying in the supermarket," one user wrote on the Chinese social media site Weibo.

The Economic Daily, a Chinese Communist Party-backed newspaper, urged its readers not to be alarmed, saying the government's advice was aimed at making sure that households were prepared if a lockdown was announced in their area.

The People's Daily newspaper said such notices were not unusual, but that it had come at this time because of issues including a rise in vegetable prices and recent Covid cases.

Food prices traditionally rise in China as winter nears, but the price of vegetables has surged in recent weeks because of the extreme weather.

Meanwhile, the country is continuing to use strict lockdowns to tackle coronavirus. China hopes to reach zero infections before it hosts the Winter Olympics, which begin in February.

Ninety-two new cases of coronavirus were reported in China on Monday, and Shanghai Disneyland was shut down for at least two days after a weekend visitor tested positive for Covid-19 after returning home.

This Can’t Be True

 This Can't Be True

Steve Feinstein- American Thinker

Unbelievable.  That's really the only way to describe the never-ending onslaught of bad news and incredible occurrences that are exploding in our daily lives.  Just when you think it couldn't get any worse, that they can't be serious, that it seems as if the "Biden" administration's sole goal is to make each person's life as wretchedly painful as possible, BAM! — another incredible misery warhead detonates on our reality.

So far, in only nine months, the Biden war machine has inflicted almost incomprehensible damage on the American people:

Rising Inflation

With their excessive government spending and totally over-the-top COVID unemployment assistance (to the point that far too many people are completely disincentivized from going back to work), inflation has roared back with a vengeance not seen in decades.  The economy is reeling, household budgets are upside-down, and everyone's purchasing power is melting away before our eyes.  The government stutters and yammers about it being "transitory," but everyone can see that's simply not true.

High Energy Prices

After pipeline cancelations and the widespread rescinding of oil exploration leases, the administration has accomplished its mission: it's sent the world's oil market the unmistakable, intentional message that America is no longer interested in being a top-tier oil producer.  Predictably, the price of crude oil has risen from the $40s/bbl to the mid-$80s/bbl.  Gasoline and heating oil are more expensive now than we ever thought they'd be again.

Vaccine Mandates

These are not "vaccines."  A real vaccine prevents disease and prevents the transmission of that disease.  These do neither.  (To their credit, if you "read between the lines" and paid close attention in the beginning, the drug-makers never said they were traditional vaccines — only that they would mitigate the symptoms to some degree and reduce the severity of the infection.)  These are really nothing more than therapeutics, with bad side effects.  Safer, more effective, and cheaper therapeutics already exist, like ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine.  But the government's politically motivated refusal to encourage or even allow any mention or use of these proven therapeutics is further evidence that the entire COVID debacle has been hijacked by Progressives to rig elections and wrest control of the country.  They need to perpetuate the public's fear of the COVID crisis in order to maintain their control of the voting process and they are doing everything they can toward that end.

Betraying the Average American

Progressives have proposed new taxes on unrealized capital gains and Roth IRAs.  This is a betrayal of the American people, pure and simple.  Millions of people have invested and planned their family's finances in good faith based on the rules that were in effect at the time of the original investment.  Now Progressives want to change the rules after the game has started?  This is beyond belief.

American Hostages Ignored

This administration abandoned hundreds of Americans in Afghanistan by evacuating our military before all the civilians were out.  How is that even remotely possible?  What genius approved that plan?  Just because the liberal media (network news, the N.Y. Times, the Washington Post, CNN/MSNBC, et al.) don't continually trumpet, "The president has abandoned American hostages to the Taliban!" the way they would if it were President Trump, that doesn't mean it's not true.  It's just further proof of how corrupt the liberal media are and how totally gullible and ignorant the average Progressive voter is.

Space here is limited, but there are seemingly countless other areas in which this administration is wrecking the country with its utter incompetence and blind loyalty to its political philosophy: the supply-chain disaster, the destructive wokeness that is undermining our military's ability to do its job, the imminent firing of thousands of health care workers, fire and police personnel, ambulance drivers, and air control operators for their hesitation about being vaccinated.  In every way imaginable, the country seems to be falling apart because of one misguided Progressive policy after another.

Note that none of the foregoing is a mere hypothetical "stylistic" objection to the way the administration is handling things.  On the contrary, everything that's been detailed above is real, tangible, and substantive.  Progressives hated President Trump's so-called mean tweets or the way they said he personally disrespected other world leaders in one-on-one meetings.  Confront a Progressive with actual facts, such as President Trump giving us the lowest Black/Hispanic/female unemployment in fifty years — a direct result of his administration's business-friendly initiatives leading to confident expansion and aggressive hiring — or the fact that his energy policies led to our becoming energy-independent while still preserving our environmental integrity or the reality of illegal immigration coming under control for the first time in generations, and the typical Progressive response was, "Yeah, fine, but he made fun of a disabled reporter!  Impeach him!"  The objections to President Trump were 99% style-based, emotion over substance.  Under President Trump, people's daily quality of life improved greatly, business was terrific, gas and heating prices were low, NATO was finally anteing up, but Progressives didn't like his gruff demeanor and too long red ties.  How intellectual.

We should be so lucky now.  This administration is doing real harm to a frighteningly wide swath of people every day, with every new policy and proclamation.

Now there's a new one that could be the most unbelievable thing ever: Progressives want to give $450K to every illegal alien for the "psychological trauma" all of them suffered from being separated at the border during the Trump years.  Can they be serious?  The talk is that this will come about by executive order, bypassing Congress, where even some Democrats would likely reject this insanity.  If this happens, it exponentially increases the incentive to come here illegally.  It'll explode the national debt beyond all bounds of manageability.  It will crush the taxpayer and threaten the foundation of our economic system, from every angle.  Yet it's being talked about seriously.  Whether it actually comes to pass or not is not the point.

The point is that to the new Progressive way of thinking and governing, no entitlement is too much; no amount of government vote-buying bribery is beyond the pale.  There is not even the slightest recognition by Progressives about the economic danger of uncontrolled deficit spending.  If this $450K/immigrant ploy doesn't pan out, rest assured that there will be another, even more astonishing hare-brained scheme to follow, quicker than you can imagine.

Sadly, as long as Progressives run the government, that is true.
