John Kerry caught without a mask on Boston-to-DC flight

John Kerry caught without a mask on Boston-to-DC flight

 Joe Dwinell - Boston Herald.com

John Kerry, the nation’s special climate envoy, has been caught with his mask down.

The former Massachusetts senator and Democratic presidential nominee was seen without a mask while reading a book on an American Airlines Boston-to-DC flight Wednesday in violation of a host of mask mandates.

“Masks are required on board our aircraft, and we are looking into this,” an American Airlines spokeswoman told the Herald.

Kerry’s Climate Communications team at the State Department said they were working on a statement, but one did not arrive by press time.

The Tennessee Star, that first broke the story, reported Kerry was “not eating, nor drinking,” in his first-class seat just before takeoff from Logan International Airport.

Masks are required before, during and after flights, according to the airlines, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and even President Biden, Kerry’s boss.

“We need everyone to get vaccinated. We need everyone to keep washing their hands, stay socially distanced, and keep wearing the masks as recommended by the CDC,” Biden said in his address to the nation last week.

The CDC ordered on Jan. 29 that all passengers in U.S. transportation hubs must “wear masks when boarding, disembarking, and for the duration of travel.”

The CDC adds: “This Order must be followed by all passengers on public conveyances (e.g. airplanes, ships, ferries, trains, subways, buses, taxis, ride-shares) traveling into, within, or out of the United States.” It did not list an exception for climate change envoys.

Dr. David Hamer, director of the Travel Clinic at Boston Medical Center and professor of global health at Boston University, said anyone ditching a mask while traveling — even if they have been vaccinated — is asking for trouble.

“Being vaccinated is not a passport to do anything you want,” Hamer said. “We still need to be cautious until the transmission levels go to a very low level.”

He said vaccinated people, likely including Kerry since he’s in Biden’s inner circle, can still spread the virus and possibly catch it, too.

“We still have a lot of COVID out there,” Hamer added. “The most important safety measure is to wear a mask.”

Kerry’s apparent cavalier attitude was extreme enough to have a fellow passenger snap his photo.

It also sparked a twitter storm with Donald Trump Jr. posting: “SPOTTED: Liberal hypocrite & Biden Admin official @JohnKerry flouting @JoeBiden’s Federal mask mandate. NOTE: His mask is off & he isn’t eating or drinking. Will he be fined for breaking the law & banned from flying @AmericanAir like regular citizens would be?”

5 Other Totally Bogus Stories Designed To Hurt Trump The Media Got Away With

Here are five stories of major significance the
corrupt media botched or created out of thin air.

The correction by The Washington Post concerning false information about a phone call between former President Donald Trump and the Georgia secretary of state’s chief investigator is no anomaly. The neglect of truth and preference for anonymous sources is deeply ingrained in the corrupt left-wing media’s strategy.

You will notice that establishment media errors, omissions, mistakes, and outright lies always slant one way — against me and against Republicans. Meanwhile, stories that hurt Democrats or undermine their narratives are buried, ignored, or delayed until they can do the least harm,” Trump said in a statement Monday in response to widespread corrections from The New York Times, CNN, ABC, and so on.

The Washington Post correction struck right to the core of why journalism is dying and has been for years, and it served as a reminder of the media’s lack of ethics and standards throughout the Russian collusion scramble. Here are five major Trump-Russia stories the media botched.

CNN: The WikiLeaks Email

CNN relied on anonymous sourcing to falsely conclude the date President Donald Trump and Donald Trump Jr. received an email to access WikiLeaks documents. The outlet claimed the email was leaked and decrypted information that was not yet released to the public.

Senior congressional correspondent Manu Raju and politics reporter Jeremy Herb dated the email Sept. 4, 2016, which would have been more than a week before WikiLeaks released the documents to the public. In reality, the Trumps obtained the email on Sept. 14, a day after the documents were made public. Raju and Herb relied on two separate anonymous sources.

Hours later, CNN corrected its prior article but did not issue a retraction, nor had CBS. Within an hour of CNN publishing the report, Ken Dilanian of MSNBC claimed he had “independently confirmed” the misguided scoop.

“CNN’s initial reporting of the date on an email sent to members of the Trump campaign about WikiLeaks documents, which was confirmed by two sources to CNN, was incorrect,” CNN said in a statement. “We have updated our story to include the correct date, and present the proper context for the timing of email. The new information indicates that the communication is less significant than CNN initially reported.”

After CNN reported on this alleged controversy, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and The Daily Caller cross-referenced documents and clarified the proper date.

ABC: Michael Flynn’s Russian Relationship

ABC’s chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross stated in a live “special report” on Dec. 1, 2017, that Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn was set to testify that he was ordered by the president to contact Russians about foreign policy while Trump was still a candidate.

That same day, ABC issued a “clarification” asserting that the directive by Trump to Flynn was while Trump was in office, fundamentally changing the narrative. The erroneous scoop suggested that Trump did in fact interfere in U.S. foreign policy at the same time that then-President Barack Obama unleashed sanctions on Russia.

The next day, ABC announced its four-week suspension for Ross without pay. ABC then officially retracted the story. According to reports, it took longer than usual to issue a retraction because Ross was unable to get in touch with his confidential source until several hours from the time of the clarification.

“The reporting conveyed by Brian Ross during the special report had not been fully vetted through our editorial standards process. As a result of our continued reporting over the next several hours ultimately we determined the information was wrong and we corrected the mistake on air and online,” ABC said in a statement.

Seven months after the retraction, Ross left ABC. Ross’s story made the stock market tank 350 points at one point, showing the extent to which malfeasant journalists with power can pull the levers in society.

“Congratulations to @ABC News for suspending Brian Ross for his horrendously inaccurate and dishonest report on the Russia, Russia, Russia Witch Hunt. More Networks and ‘papers’ should do the same with their Fake News!” Trump tweeted.

NYT: 17 US Intelligence Agencies ‘Agree’

On June 25, 2017, The New York Times published a report that had been debunked nearly a month prior by The Daily Caller. In the article, the Times reasserted the false claim that 17 U.S. Intelligence agencies all concurred that Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election.

This lie had been peddled by left-leaning outlets for about six months prior. See here and here, for instance. Four days after the Times ran its article, a White House memo confirmed that only four agencies had actually “approved” of the sweeping assessment.

The Daily Caller report, published June 1, referenced Hillary Clinton’s statement in an interview that week about Russian interference in the election. “Read the declassified report by the Intelligence Community that came out in early January,” Clinton said. “Seventeen agencies, all in agreement — which I know from my experience as a senator and secretary of state is hard to get — they concluded with ‘high confidence’ that the Russians ran an extensive information war against my campaign to influence voters in the election.”

The report Clinton referenced, however, which was published on Jan. 7, 2017, was supported by the FBI, the CIA, and the National Security Agency — three agencies, not 17. The Times also entirely neglected the fact that former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper testified on May 8 to debunk the proposed number of agencies.

The Times corrected its article four days later. The Associated Press published a “clarification” on June 30 regarding several stories. Other outlets followed suit, although USA Today has yet to issue anything on this false piece from October 2016. Curiously, USA Today issued an edit on the article on Dec. 16, 2016, nearly two months after its publication. The edit has not been clarified.

CNN: Scaramucci and the Russian Direct Investment Fund

In June 2017, CNN reported that then-President Trump aide Anthony Scaramucci was linked to the Russian Direct Investment Fund. The story claimed that Senate investigators were monitoring a sum of $10 million in the fund, with which Scaramucci supposedly had activities.

A day later, CNN officially retracted the story, implying that the article was shoddily sourced. “On June 22, 2017, CNN.com published a story connecting Anthony Scaramucci with investigations into the Russian Direct Investment Fund. That story did not meet CNN’s editorial standards and has been retracted. Links to the story have been disabled. CNN apologizes to Mr. Scaramucci,” the outlet said in a statement.

Days later, three CNN staffers resigned over the retraction: Thomas Frank, Eric Lichtblau, and Lex Harris. Scaramucci called Washington bureau chief Sam Feist and floated the idea of a lawsuit, according to Politico.

Due to this and other editorial blunders relying on anonymous sourcing, CNN claimed it was imposing “stricter standards.” Buzzfeed News obtained an internal memo sent to all staff by CNNMoney executive editor Rich Barbieri. “No one should publish any content involving Russia without coming to me and Jason [Farkas],” Barbieri said, referencing CNN Business’s vice president.

Buzzfeed: Trump’s Direction to Lie

In a vague, poorly-sourced story, Buzzfeed News claimed in January 2019 that Trump attorney Michael Cohen informed investigators employed under special counsel Robert Mueller that Trump “directed” him to lie in regard to contact he made with a Russian official.

Shortly after the publishing of the report, Mueller’s office released a statement fully denying it. It was the first time such a statement had been provided in the more than one and a half years of his investigation.

“BuzzFeed’s description of specific statements to the Special Counsel’s Office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen’s Congressional testimony are not accurate,” said a spokesman for the special counsel in a statement.

The outlet did not use specific dates to back up its claims nor actual quotations from Cohen’s talks with Trump. Buzzfeed has continued to decline to comment on which documents it used to create the report. Upon the report’s publication, Democrats insisted that Trump most certainly was guilty of obstruction of justice or suborned perjury.

“In the interest of protecting … sources, we aren’t going to speak further on the details of who saw what and when, beyond what’s in the reporting,” a Buzzfeed spokesman told The Daily Caller at the time.

In an interview with CNN, Buzzfeed journalist Anthony Cormier admitted he had not even seen the so-called documents he referred to in the article. “I’ve not seen it personally, but the folks that we’ve talked to, the two officials we’ve spoken to, are fully, 100 percent read in to that aspect of the special counsel’s investigation,” Cormier said.

The other journalist, Jason Leopold, flip-flopped several times on who had seen which documents and when. Buzzfeed News still has not clarified.

“We can’t get into, like, the details there,” Cormier said two days later to CNN’s Brian Stelter.

Shortly after Mueller’s statement, The Washington Post said the Buzzfeed report was “almost entirely incorrect.” The New York Times noted that “several reporters who cover the Justice Department said they interpreted the statement” by Mueller “as a full denial of BuzzFeed’s conclusions.”

“It was remarkable what we saw happening for 24 hours in the media, on the basis of the report that appeared in BuzzFeed,” then-Vice President Mike Pence said to Chris Wallace that Sunday. “It’s one of the reasons why people are so frustrated with many in the national media.”

Buzzfeed has not corrected nor retracted this story. There is no indication that it is factual.

Biden Administration Chooses Political Purges Over National Defense

America’s military is at risk of a different sort of tyranny:
the purging of unauthorized political views.

The discipline which makes the soldiers of a free country reliable in battle is not to be gained by harsh or tyrannical treatment,” said West Point superintendent John Schofield in 1879, condemning leaders who issue unreasonable and abusive orders. America’s military today is at risk of a different sort of tyranny: the purging of unauthorized political views.

Woke Preoccupation

Right now, the Department of Defense should be reevaluating our nation’s interminable foreign wars and cracking down on the misuse of taxpayer dollars. Instead, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has declared that the armed forces will “stand down” for 60 days to address alleged “extremism” in the ranks. Given recent statements from lawmakers, the current West Point superintendent, and Navy leadership, it’s clear that Right-leaning servicemembers will face scrutiny while Black Lives Matter and far-Left radicals will get a pass. This move to appease the Biden Administration’s radical elements will only damage the legitimacy of America’s most trusted institution and distract from vital issues at home and abroad.

Even before Biden took office, the federal bureaucracy was turning BLM into unofficial state ideology. The Office of Special Counsel had determined that BLM, which solicited donations through the Democratic Party’s ActBlue platform, was not a “partisan political group” and that government employees could promote it in the workplace. The U.S. embassy in South Korea displayed a massive BLM banner. And when Biden assumed office, one of his first actions was to rescind his predecessor’s ban on the far-Left race indoctrination which has been seeping into government agencies and is fully aligned with BLM views on race.

Instead of encouraging federal agencies to govern with an even hand, the Biden Administration is using them to push a partisan ideology that effectively excludes half of America. It’s the most divisive way possible to run the military, the government, and the country. And it’s a massive waste of time and resources.

Diverse Bloat

When defense officials talk about “diversity, equity, and inclusion”—the vague social justice mantra that has become omnipresent across government, business, and academic institutions—they divert attention from the injustices that America’s overseas engagements have created. In 2015, the U.S. government spent $500 million to train Islamist Syrian rebels as part of the Obama Administration’s ill-advised and unsuccessful campaign to depose Syria’s secular dictator Bashar al-Assad. After receiving free weapons and instruction, the rebels promptly defected to Al Qaeda, the murderous terrorist group America has been fighting for 20 years.

American taxpayers also have unwittingly supplied over $780 million for gender programs in Afghanistan, where U.S. troops have been dying for increasingly vague causes since 2001. Women’s equality in an Islamic fundamentalist society 7,000 miles away has become so central to American strategy that Army Chief of Staff Mark Milley recently broke down in an emotional rant when he implored the Biden Administration to continue the war. This is a deeply unserious approach to foreign policy that empowers forces we shouldn’t empower and tries to change cultures we can’t change. Reassessing our involvement in the Middle East would bring a lot more equity to the world than promoting racial resentment among American servicemembers.

 All Hat and No Cattle

The U.S. government hasn’t just mishandled multiple foreign conflicts—it is also setting up the military for failure in future wars. There is no better example than the F-35 stealth fighter. Fifteen years after the first prototype flew, the aircraft still has 900 or so outstanding design issues. American taxpayers will pay $22 billion more than expected to sustain the fighter throughout its lifetime. Congress has been reluctant to cut the F-35 program, even though it has applied far greater scrutiny to other projects like the KC-46 tanker aircraft. Boeing, the manufacturer of the KC-46, will not be receiving the full payment for the aircraft and has agreed to fix some of the flaws at its own expense. Meanwhile, F-35 manufacturer Lockheed Martin has been spending program funds on flat-screen TVs and golf carts, and regularly delivers spare parts with missing records, which has resulted in more than $300 million in extra labor costs. The government should be taking defense contractors to task for failing to deliver results and swindling taxpayers. Instead, it’s targeting service members who fail to accept far-Left ideology.

Endless deployments that achieve nothing and bloated defense contracts that don’t deliver the tools our troops need are wearing down our military. On top of that, the number of young people who are willing and able to join the military is declining. If the Biden Administration continues to force exclusionary propaganda on our servicemembers, Americans will lose faith in our military’s capability and purpose entirely.

A Barely Sentient Joe Biden Promises to Blow Up the Economy

You were warned – That’s how a lot of Republicans feel right now given how disastrous Joe Biden’s first few months in office have been. As I wrote just yesterday, while the administration is slipping into delusion, the realities at the border have become a full-blown crisis. Gas and energy prices are exploding as a result of the president’s executive orders as well. Meanwhile, free states like Florida thrive while Biden and his cohorts still encourage draconian mitigation measures in blue states that will listen.

Things are about to get worse, though. If you were counting on a roaring economic recovery to take us out of the doldrums of the pandemic, Biden seems intent on strangling it in its crib.

President Joe Biden is expected to propose a number of tax increases in the first major federal taxhike in nearly 30 years to pay for the long-term economic program that will follow the COVID-19 response bill, according to a new report.

Sources reportedly told Bloomberg that provisions currently under consideration include raising the corporate tax rate to 28 percent from 21 percent; paring back tax preferences for so-called pass-through businesses, such as limited-liability companies or partnerships; increasing the income tax rate on individuals earning more than $400,000; expanding the estate tax; and a higher capital-gains tax rate for individuals earning at least $1 million annually.

What’s so ironic about this is that it was rich, college-educated whites that catapulted Biden into office (arguments about voter fraud aside). Those people will now get to pay higher taxes for their trouble along with their higher gas and energy prices. It won’t just be them carrying the burden, though. The trickle-down effect of cost increases from a huge corporate tax hike will hit everyone who buys goods and services. We’ve seen how this plays out, and it results in stagnation of economic growth and wages.

Of course, when that stagnation happens, then Biden and the Democrat leadership can just demand yet more spending on entitlements. That’s the game here because it’s always the game. Making dependents is a favorite pastime of the progressive movement. Under Trump and his tax cuts, we had one of the best economies in the nation’s history. Wages began to rise significantly for the first time in decades. Minority employment rose sharply as well. It was a truly inclusive season of prosperity. That will all be gone if Biden gets his way and for what, exactly? Why change what worked so well? It makes no sense whatsoever.

I’m probably being kind by describing it as Biden getting his way, though. We all know he’s not in charge here. He’s a barely sentient individual who likely can’t perceive what day it is, much less how corporate tax rates affect the economy. His left-wing handlers are calling the shots here as per our usual agreement.

Tax hikes can be passed through reconciliation (i.e. no filibuster), and that’s the only way this makes it to the president’s desk at some point. That puts Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema back in their respective hot seats. Do they really spit in their constituents’ faces by voting to raise taxes in the middle of an economic recovery? I wouldn’t rule anything out at this point.

McConnell Prepares for the UniParty to Eliminate the Senate’s Legislative Filibuster

Mitch McConnell gave an anticipated speech in the Senate today positioning himself against the end of the Senate filibuster.  Unfortunately for those who understand how McConnell operates, methinks he doth protest too much.  Watch:

Let me be perfectly clear… every word in those prepared remarks was/is an act.  This is what Mitch McConnell does.  CTH has pointed out for several months how McConnell is personally preparing for the end of the filibuster.  [Here and Here] He knows it will likely end, because he has seeded the framework for the end of the process.  What McConnell is doing now is pure positioning.

The number of McConnell’s specific DeceptiCon caucus no longer running for re-election is a key indicator the McConnell crew know the filibuster is about to end.  They are all pre-positioning for that result.   Do not think it will not happen, because the odds are the filibuster is about to end.

“Senators Richard Burr (NC), Ron Johnson (WI), Pat Toomey (PA), Rob Portman (OH), and Richard Shelby all previously stated they were not going to seek reelection; Senator Roy Blunt made the same announcement.”

This is not a surprise. McConnell is fully exposed now; people can finally see through his schemes and understand his motives and maneuvers.

As we noted following the election, the business model of selling votes is no longer as lucrative. McConnell and Harry Reid created and then held the UniParty power system as a system for affluence and influence. However, McConnell’s signature legacy item will be his role in eliminating the filibuster and turning the senate into a simple majority system.

In order to give the appearance of his opposition to this move, despite his years of working earnestly toward it, McConnell will exit very soon after the filibuster is eliminated. He will then blame the elimination of the filibuster as the excuse for his departure. This is the Machiavellian way he operates.

WASHINGTON DC – […] Top Democrats, including the two highest-ranking party members in the Senate, have stepped up rhetoric in recent days about the future of the filibuster, a parliamentary custom that requires support from 60 of the chamber’s 100 members to pass most legislation.

The filibuster has long been seen as a mechanism requiring bipartisan consensus that distinguishes the Senate from the House of Representatives, where only a simple majority is needed on legislation. With the current Senate split 50-50, Democrats have said they may need to do away with the filibuster to pass Biden’s priorities, including a House-approved bill intended to facilitate voting in elections.

“This chaos would not open up an express lane to liberal change. It would not open up an express lane for the Biden presidency to speed into the history books. The Senate would be more like a 100-car pileup. Nothing moving,” McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, said on the Senate floor.

“Nobody serving in this chamber can even begin … to imagine what a completely scorched-earth Senate would look like,” he added, saying Republicans would require votes on all parliamentary moves, drastically slowing the pace of business. (read more)
