As Americans Turn Left, We Should Remember Socialism Killed 36 Million Chinese

Chinese whistleblower Yang Jisheng's book, 'Tombstone: The Great Chinese Famine 1958-1962,' is a powerful reminder that collectivism is evil.

After I finished reading Yang Jisheng’s book, Tombstone: The Great Chinese Famine 1958-1962, an extensive analysis on the worst man-made calamity in human history, I couldn’t help but wonder: If Yang’s book were required reading for American college students, would so many young people embrace socialism so enthusiastically?

Yang opens the book with his father’s death in 1959. It was April, and Yang was a high school student. Since his school was far from the village where his father lived, Yang rarely saw his father during the school year. One day, a villager brought Yang the dreadful message—his father was dying of starvation. Yang rushed home. He found utter destitution.

The village felt like a ghost town. There were no animals running around, not even rats, and no living trees either. “All had been stripped of their leaves and bark by starving peasants,” he records. People ate whatever they could get their hands on, and when they were not searching for food, they barely had any energy to move or make a sound.

At the little hut his father lived in, Yang saw his father’s “eyes sunken and lifeless, his face gaunt, the skin creased and flaccid,” which reminded Yang of the human skeleton he saw in an anatomy class. Yang suddenly realized that “the term skin and bones referred to something so horrible and cruel.” Yang tried to feed his father some peanut sprouts—the only thing he could find—but his father was too weak to even swallow. He died three days later.

Despite losing his father to starvation, Yang “felt no suspicion and completely accepted what had been instilled in me by the Communist Party and the Communist Youth League.” Since the founding of Communist China in 1949, the CCP had sealed China off from the outside world. The government had a domestic monopoly on information and facts.

“From nursery school to university, the chief mission was to inculcate a Communist worldview in the minds of all students. The social science research institutes, cultural groups, news organs, and schools all became tools for the party’s monopoly on thought, spirit, and opinion, and were continuously engaged in molding China’s youth.” Furthermore, “all views diverging from those of the party were nipped in the bud.”

How to Kill 36 Million People

Growing up in this environment, young Chinese developed a fervent belief in Communist ideals and intolerance for dissenting voices. “Any words or deeds that diverged from these ideas would be met with a concerted attack.” Like many brainwashed young people, Yang believed that Chinese people’s suffering was the result of China being bullied by Western imperialism for nearly 100 years.

But under Mao’s leadership, China went on to implement the highest ideal of mankind: Communism, where everyone was supposed to have equal access to food, shelter, health care, and so much more. Yang was taught that such greater good was worthy of every bit of personal sacrifice. Yang was ready and willing to give his own life for the Communist ideal. Therefore, he regarded his father’s death and his own village’s misery as an isolated incident and minor setback for China’s march to paradise.

Only years later, when Yang became a journalist at Xinhua News (China’s state-run news agency), did Yang begin to have doubts. His beliefs were shook after he gained access to provincial population data from 1958 to 1962. These data are still highly guarded state secrets to this day, but Yang’s position gave him the cover and protection he needed to carry out his discovery of the truth. After extensive research, Yang was horrified to realize that what had happened to his father and his village was repeated throughout China during those years.

Yang estimates that at least 36 million Chinese people perished during the Great Chinese Famine between 1958 and 1962 (some scholars estimate the death toll could be as high as 45 million). Many were starved to death like his father, but others died as a result of the CCP’s brutal “anti-hoarding” campaign, which used violence to “extort every last kernel of grain or seed from peasants.”

Apart from the standard abuse of beating, there were other forms of torture, including “dousing the head with cold water, tearing out hair, cutting off ears, driving bamboo strips into the palm…and being buried alive.” When adults were tortured to death, the young children they left behind usually died of starvation soon after. Cannibalism was widespread too. No words are adequate enough to describe the magnitude of the horror and agony.

However, to date, the CCP not only denies that such mass starvation and suffering has ever taken place, but also insists that any life lost during this period was caused by natural disasters such as droughts. Yang’s book presents indisputable evidence to support his conclusion that the Great Chinese Famine was instead a man-made disaster.

The Famine took place during the height of Mao’s Great Leap Forward, which aimed to transform China from a backward agricultural society into a communist industrial powerhouse within a decade. Mao and his radical comrades believed that as long as they had the willpower and an abundant supply of cheap labor, they could ignore the laws of nature and economics.

The CCP launched a number of campaigns to achieve the lofty goals Mao set. A mass steel campaign was one of them. Everywhere in China, people built small backyard furnaces, attempting to produce steel.

Every village had a quota to meet. Everyone from eight-year-old kids to 80-year-old seniors pitched in on around-the-clock shifts by the backyard furnaces. Anything that contained metal, including farming tools and cooking pots, was smashed and fed into the furnaces. However, none of these efforts increased steel production, and all of it only yielded useless output.

The most consequential campaign was agricultural collectivization, through which the government became the sole owner of all private and public land via coercive confiscation. Farmers were forced to surrender everything they had, including food, farming tools, and livestock, to the people’s communes.

Bureaucrats who had no farming experience dictated to farmers what and how to plant. Farmers had to show up and leave the field every day at the same time in teams. All produce had to be sold to the government at fixed prices, as private transactions were strictly prohibited. Farmers weren’t even allowed to cook at their own homes — everyone had to eat together at communal kitchens.

The CCP also treated farmers as a reservoir of cheap labor. Millions of men who were at the peak of their productivity were drafted by their local governments to work on various irrigation or industrial projects.

These policies had multiple disastrous effects. First, the collectives eroded people’s incentives. No one wanted to work hard because regardless of individual effort, everyone had equal access to the same amount of food — when there was still food available.

Second, by demanding farmers to attend backyard furnaces around the clock and drafting productive farmers to work on various government projects, fewer farmers were left behind to plant and take care of crops. So crops were left rotten in the fields.

Third, many of the government’s construction projects yielded no tangible benefits but ended up destroying the environment and upsetting the fragile ecosystem, which caused natural disasters to take place not only more frequently, but also with worse impact.

Finally, since meals at communal kitchens were free of charge, food waste was prevalent. Initially, “commune members gorged themselves” believing “the government would come up with more food when current supplies were exhausted.” But the government aid never came.

Making matters even worse, CCP leaders insisted communes must produce more grain for cities in China and for other communist countries. Local leaders were either pressured into falsely reporting or willingly exaggerating ever-higher grain production figures to their political superiors.

Yang wrote that everyone is a liar within a socialist regime, and these lies have consequences. The state forced villages to collect more grain than they could spare, based on these false production numbers. So even the seeds for the upcoming year were used to meet the government’s procurement. Therefore, very little grain was left in villages.

Without grain, communal kitchens tried to feed hungry farmers with food substitutes, such as rice straw, corn stalks, and cotton batting. In January 1959, the village communal kitchens had run out of food substitutes and had to close their doors for good.

Calamity, Darkness, and Evil

Yang concludes that because the state had monopolized “all production and life-sustaining resources,” the ordinary people had no means of saving themselves when calamities occurred. By handing over everything they had to the state, people also handed over control over their very survival.

The famine peaked in 1959 but continued until 1962 due to the CCP’s refusal to admit its wrongdoings. The CCP believed that such admission of mistakes would invite questions about the party’s ability to govern. Additionally, there was no free press to report the truth and no elections to hold those in charge accountable for their policies. Therefore, those murderous policies continued, and the death tolls multiplied.

Yang took tremendous personal risks to write this book, and it is still banned in Communist China. Yang originally wanted to title his well-researched book “The Road to Paradise,” but he changed the title to “Tombstone” for three reasons: He wanted to erect a tombstone for his father, for the 36 million Chinese people who perished in the famine, and he wished to bury socialism, the ideology that has inflicted so much suffering on Chinese people.

Unfortunately, socialism is getting a second chance in western democracies. One important step we need to take to combat socialism is to pass on the truth to the next generation, including reading and sharing books such as “Tombstone.” Yang writes that he wrote this book so “people will remember and henceforth renounce man-made calamity, darkness, and evil.” More calamities are sure to unfold if we do not heed his warnings.

House Democrats Organize ‘Ministry of Truth’, Ask Cable Co to Begin Censoring Unapproved Speech

The first amendment prohibits congress from passing any laws that would inhibit free speech and the freedom of the press.  However, in the era of advanced Marxism and Democrat fascism their inability to use laws to block speech is seen as a problem.

To solve the problem the U.S. congress is now asking cable news providers: Comcast, AT&T, Spectrum, Dish, Verizon, Cox and Altice to initiate a new system to block speech the DEMOCRAT FASCISTS do not agree with.

The same congressional committee members also sent the letter to Roku, Amazon, Apple, Google and Hulu, digital companies that distribute cable programming and raising the stakes if they do not comply.  Thereby once again proving the case that Democrats are party of state controlled censorship.

(New York Times) […] In advance of the Wednesday hearing, called “Fanning the Flames: Disinformation and Extremism in the Media,” members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee sent a letter…

[…] “To our knowledge, the cable, satellite and over-the-top companies that disseminate these media outlets to American viewers have done nothing in response to the misinformation aired by these outlets,” two Democratic representatives from California, Anna G. Eshoo and Jerry McNerney, wrote in the letter, which was reviewed by The New York Times.

[…] The lawmakers’ letter asks the companies, “What steps did you take prior to, on, and following the November 3, 2020 elections and the January 6, 2021 attacks to monitor, respond to, and reduce the spread of disinformation, including encouragement or incitement of violence by channels your company disseminates to millions of Americans?”

“Are you planning to continue carrying Fox News, OANN, and Newsmax on your platform both now and beyond the renewal date?” the letter continues. “If so, why?”  (read more)

Perhaps as things worsen people will begin to realize why CTH has been spending so much time and effort building-out an anti-fragile website where we can continue to present the unfiltered truth of events happening around our nation.  It is an exhaustive effort to build an infrastructure that can continue to provide a place where honest discussion can take place and facts can be provided without fear of removal.

The Truth Has No Agenda…. Those who wish to control public speech carry an independent agenda.  To justify their ideological desires to retain power, and, by extension ultimately control over the lives of others, these radical leftists need a justification.  They are putting a massive amount of exhaustive energy into trying to remove speech that would stand against their totalitarian agenda.

We have watched it unfold for years; however the pace of their onslaught is seemingly exponential now.

Conduct yourselves accordingly…. and know that CTH will continue this fight even if we are reduced down to writing post-it notes on gas pumps.  The Rebel Alliance will never concede liberty to the totalitarian state.

Live your best life, and pour sand into their machinery whenever possible.

Mount Etna is erupting again, and its hot lava fountains are illuminating the Sicilian sky.

The eruption began earlier this week, and Etna has since been spewing massive orange plumes of smoke and thick clouds of ash.

Etna is Europe's most active volcano, and it erupts relatively often. The last major eruption was in 1992.

Its eruptions have rarely caused damage or injury in recent decades - and officials believe this eruption is no exception.

Stefano Branco, the head of the National Institute for Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) in the nearby city of Catania, told Italian news agency AGI earlier this week: "We've seen worse."

Biden, Trudeau aim to move past Keystone pipeline disagreement in first bilateral meeting

February 23, 2021

By Trevor Hunnicutt and Steve Scherer

WASHINGTON/OTTAWA (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will try on Tuesday to move past an early disagreement after Biden blocked the Canadian-backed Keystone XL pipeline and look to reset relations after the rocky years of Donald Trump.

In his first bilateral meeting with a foreign leader since taking office last month, Biden is expected to discuss with Trudeau a host of issues including climate change and China, a senior U.S. administration official told reporters.

Canada has often been a U.S. president’s first foreign stop, but the COVID-19 pandemic has turned the sit-down between the two leaders and some of their top deputies into a virtual affair.

The event is likely to result in a shared document outlining cross-government collaboration on a wide range of issues, the senior U.S. administration official said.

It was not clear the meeting would result in any new deal on those or other concerns, including Canada’s access to vaccines produced in the United States or a shared standoff with China over the detention of a Huawei executive.

“The most important thing here is a reinvigorated road map for cooperation between the United States and Canada, meaning that we’re going to talk regularly to one of our closest allies to make sure that there’s no kind of misunderstandings,” the U.S. official said.

Biden is eager to address security threats from climate change to the coronavirus pandemic as well as China, Iran, Russia and North Korea.

He irritated Ottawa early on by blocking the $8 billion Keystone XL pipeline project to pump oil sands crude from Alberta to Nebraska, and proposing a “Buy American” program aimed at directing more U.S. spending toward domestic manufacturers.

Trudeau is aiming to show he is now aligned with Washington on issues including COVID-19, climate change and foreign policy, a Canadian government source said.

The sources spoke on condition of anonymity ahead of the bilateral meeting.

“We expect the president, during the meeting, to highlight the strong and deep partnership between the United States and Canada as neighbors, friends and NATO allies,” White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said on Monday.

An administration official said Biden would raise the topic of the countries’ investment in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Trump often disparaged allies for their shortfall in funding the mutual defense organization.

TURNING THE PAGE

Trudeau was the first world leader to congratulate Biden when the Democrat was declared the winner of the November U.S. election, illustrating the degree to which Canada, one of America’s closest allies, is looking to turn the page on the Trump era.

The Republican former president, who often clashed with traditional allies on trade, imposed tariffs on Canadian aluminum and steel. The two countries have one of the world’s largest bilateral trading relationships.

Tuesday’s event is expected to start at 4 p.m. (2100 GMT), according to a Canadian official. A U.S. official said it would begin with a 45-minute meeting between Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, national security adviser Jake Sullivan and their Canadian counterparts.

An expanded meeting following that is expected to include a broader set of officials. Trudeau will be accompanied by his finance minister, Chrystia Freeland, and others. Biden and Trudeau will then address the public around 5:45 p.m. (2245 GMT).

The U.S. official signaled little willingness to expand Canada’s access to vaccines manufactured in the United States, saying Washington’s focus is on vaccinating Americans.

The official said the White House expected Trudeau to raise the issue of two Canadians detained by Beijing and charged with espionage after Canada’s detention of Meng Wanzhou, chief financial officer of China’s Huawei Technologies Co Ltd, on a U.S. arrest warrant.

The official said the White House believed the Canadians were unjustly detained and would work to secure their release but added it would not meddle in independent Department of Justice matters. Meng remains under house arrest.

Trudeau also wants Canada and the United States to collaborate more closely on manufacturing electric vehicles and supplying critical minerals needed to make batteries for cars and other clean technologies, Trudeau told Reuters earlier this month.

Canada is also seeking exemptions to a U.S. effort to ensure federal agencies buy American-produced goods. The U.S. move could hurt Canada, given how tightly the two nations’ economies are integrated.

In Major Speech, Biden Reveals His Deep Misunderstanding Of Foreign Policy

Turning great-power competition into a simplistic struggle between good and evil defies basic realism. Naturally, Biden chose to do so in his first major foreign policy speech.

In a speech that would have been appropriate for the bipolar world in 1962, President Joe Biden called for an alliance of democracies to face off against tyrannical forces across the globe. This is a misreading of current geopolitics, which is not predominantly binary, but multipolar. The world we inhabit is qualitatively similar to the post-Napoleonic world of 1820, with one predominant but overstretched great power and several other powers jostling for space, influence, and interests.

Biden’s speech, given at the 2021 Munich Security Conference on Feb. 19, was touted as a restoration speech. It was as binary as one could have expected, and to his credit, Biden did not deviate from the message.

“We are in the midst of a fundamental debate about the future and direction of our world,” he said. “We’re at an inflection point between those who argue that, given all the challenges we face — from the fourth industrial revolution to a global pandemic — that autocracy is the best way forward, they argue, and those who understand that democracy is essential — essential to meeting those challenges.”

In providential liberalism mode, Biden spoke of a faith that democracies will prevail in any competition: “And I believe that — every ounce of my being — that democracy will and must prevail. We must demonstrate that democracies can still deliver for our people in this changed world. That, in my view, is our galvanizing mission.”

So, what is to be done to accomplish this? Biden suggested the United States needs to “demonstrate to our great, great-grandchildren, when they read about us, that democracy — democracy — democracy functions and works, and together, there is nothing we can’t do.”

Biden also said he hoped Europeans would choose the side of the United States in this Manichean struggle: “I hope our fellow democracies are going to join us in this vital work. Our partnerships have endured and grown through the years because they are rooted in the richness of our shared democratic values. They’re not transactional. They’re not extractive. They’re built on a vision of a future where every voice matters, where the rights of all are protected and the rule of law is upheld.”

Unfortunately for Biden’s analysis, we do not live in a bipolar world. The biggest blunder of the United States in the post-Cold War hegemonic world has been to institutionalize peace on the European continent, consolidating a polity under one flag and the single leadership of the European Union. This decision conflicted with the centuries-old British hegemonic strategy of divide and rule and balance of power.

As a result, the European Union is now starting to have its own strategic interests, opposed to what Washington might desire. While America’s military power is unparalleled and Europe is still dependent on Washington, the EU has independent financial interests and trade sanction powers that diverge from the United States’ interests, and sooner or later, that elephant in the room must be addressed.

The Austro-Hungarian empire wasn’t a military superpower. Yet it siding with Imperial Germany resulted in catastrophe. Likewise, the EU siding with China in trade issues is a statistical possibility.

Even in a bipolar world, which this isn’t, the EU as an actor might choose to side with China. In a multipolar world, it is almost guaranteed that the EU will not see China as a potential threat, as the United States, and will seek to hedge and play both sides.

That poses complicated theoretical questions Biden did not answer in the speech. There is a tendency to view the core Euro powers, especially West Europeans and Germany, as free-riding on the United States. The reality cannot be further from the truth.

The German and EU strategic cultures are different. Germany has been immensely successful and is possibly the greatest practitioner of buck-passing in Europe. The country has also so far managed to play China, Russia, and the United States at the same time, while keeping France from taking over EU leadership. Those contradictory but very pragmatic instincts are now coming to a head-on collision as great power rivalry returns.

The more baffling part of Biden’s speech was equating Russia and China in the same grouping, as authoritarian countries opposed to a global democratic brigade. “The challenges with Russia may be different than the ones with China, but they’re just as real,” he said. That simply isn’t empirically true.

Russia, for example, is nowhere as despotic as Saudi Arabia or Turkey, our purported allies. India, a partner in the Quad, is increasingly turning reactionary and majoritarian, yet not a single person from Biden’s State Department would consider ditching India, as it is the only nuclear counterbalance to China in Asia. Life and foreign policy aren’t just a simple democracy versus autocracy binary.

More importantly, Biden’s frame for foreign policy puts forward a needlessly confrontational stance that will give all small states in the peripheries incentive to drag the United States into a potential confrontation with other adversarial great powers. A moderate to large power should be very wary of small states on the periphery dragging them to conflict with other large powers who might be hostile overall, but not confrontational.

Sometimes, great powers battle other great powers over strategic and tactical resources. Other times, they are dragged by small powers into conflicts that are not in the great powers’ interest. A small state has nothing to lose by doing this. Small states are mostly often activist, ideological, perpetually afraid, and seeking security.

Naturally, if one is steering the grand strategy of a great power, one should ideally aspire to workable relations with other great powers, like a “concert” or equilibrium, instead of appeasing the insecurities of highly ideological small states in regions that are not existential to your security. That’s classical realism.

A multipolar great power competition is not rhetorically attractive and is more complicated. It is not men with bloodshot eyes rushing to Normandy after calls to arms by soaring rhetoric and speeches from larger-than-life leaders.

Those are unique times. Most of human history is a grand chessboard that demands calm, slow, deliberate long-term historical strategy. It needs historical understanding, which is more than having heard about 1939 Nazi Germany, or the 1962 Cuban missile crisis.

The United States also needs to pass burdens to allies, prioritize regions and territories, and accept that various powers have their various interests and spheres of influence. This allows a way out from the burden of policing the world.

Instead, binary Biden, like all idealistic and simpleminded liberals in history, took his first major shot and missed it by miles. By turning everything into a simplistic good versus evil, Biden risks doubling down on the United States’ failed grand strategy of the last quarter-century.

Donald Trump Is Finally Going Down Hard, I'm Assured of It

Did you know that after five years of the walls closing in, that the walls are finally closing in on Donald Trump? I know, it’s shocking stuff.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court, including all three Trump appointed Justices (so much for the left’s conspiracy theories on that front), voted against shielding Trump’s tax returns from partisan state prosecutors. And because the media can’t quit Donald Trump, the result was a relative revival of cable news’ glory days. Panels were quickly assembled to talk shop on how the former president is sure to be behind bars soon. They even managed to get Michael Cohen, a felon, on the air to give his highly valued opinion.

“Well, obviously we don’t know what the tax returns show,” Cohen replied, noting that Trump had worked hard to prevent anyone from getting access to his tax records. “You know, remember the Hans Christian Anderson book ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’? I think we’re going to need to see a sequel to that book called, ‘The Emperor Has No Clothes.’”

Cohen went on to suggest Trump would get caught because there was no way to declare “hush money” as a legitimate deduction, noting that he was not an accountant and could not go into greater detail.

“One thing I can turn around and tell you, he should start maybe speaking to someone about getting a custom-made jumpsuit, because it does not look good for him,” Cohen added.

Well, if someone who hates Trump went on MSNBC to say that Trump is going to be in prison over his taxes, it must be true. I mean, it’s not like we’ve heard such pronouncements before from the liberal network.

Regardless, shouldn’t the first sentence there be disqualifying for a supposed news program, something Katy Tur’s tabloid-esque show ostensibly is? If you don’t know what’s in the tax returns, then how exactly can one opine on the idea that they will lead to Trump needing a “custom-made jumpsuit?” Further, how many people go to prison over a mislabeled deduction? That seems to be the extent of what Cohen is alleging here. The normal course would be to provide restitution. Yet, we are dealing with highly political prosecutors here so it wouldn’t surprise me if they go full Leroy Jenkins on the matter.

It wasn’t just Cohen, though. CNN is also reliving the glory days.

They can’t quit him. It’s so obvious and sad. Everything about these networks’ identity is wrapped up in Trump, what Trump says, what will happen to Trump, etc. Pathetic doesn’t even begin to describe such a disposition by supposed news outlets. They are like that 22 year old college drop-out that just can’t let go of their high school glory days, desperately searching for another fix of what no longer really exists. Trump is not president anymore. Some guy named Joe Biden is, and he’s doing a terrible job. Perhaps focusing on that would be prudent?

I’ll go ahead and make a not so bold prediction. Just like Robert Mueller and the SDNY, this witch hunt will also lead nowhere. Trump will claim vindication and end up stronger in the end. His enemies are just too daft to recognize everything they are doing is counter-productive to their stated goal.

Former Clinton Adviser Warns Tucker of Biden's Totalitarian Transformation of America

Naomi Wolf is known for a few things, including her feminist views and love of the Democrat party. She was, after all, Bill Clinton’s 96′ reelection campaign adviser. But whatever this new Democrat Party is, she apparently doesn’t like. She doesn’t like it so much that she decided to appear on Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News and talk about it and warn America the party she once worked for is driving America into a totalitarian hold.

Even Carlson expressed his surprise that she was there on his show, admitting that he thought they’d be meeting in a more debate-centric format. He asked why she’s taken the position she has now about the Democrat party.

Wolf responded by telling Carlson that she believes the country is “moving into a coup situation, a police state” thanks to Biden’s Coronavirus restrictions, and that these restrictions are being enforced under the “guise of a real medical pandemic.”

Wolf told Carlson that when it comes to this, party lines disappear.

“That is not a partisan thing,” Wolf told Carlson. “That transcends everything that you and I might disagree or agree on. That should bring together left and right to protect our Constitution.”

Wolf warned that we were on “step 10” of a pattern by dictators trying to take over a Democracy. According to Wolf, “Step 10” is the “suspension of the rule of law.”

“Whether they are on the left or the right, they do these same ten things,” Wolf explained, “and now we’re at something I never thought I would see in my lifetime … it is step 10 and that is the suspension of the rule of law and that is when you start to be a police state, and we’re here. There is no way around it.”

Wolf said that she’s been working with people on both sides of the aisle and all of them are horrified at how far things have gotten in terms of Democrat control.

“They are using that to engage in emergency orders that simply strip us of our rights; rights to property, rights to assembly, rights to worship, all the rights the Constitution guarantees.”

“I really hope we wake up quickly,” she added, “because history also shows that it’s a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.”

The Biden administration does seem intent to keep America in a state of lockdown using the virus. As reported yesterday, Biden’s Press Secretary, Jen Psaki, told reporters that many months of “suffering” and “sacrifice” lay ahead for America despite the fact that the vaccine rollout has been so successful that America is ranked number one in how many people are receiving. Moreover, the tune of medical experts keeps changing along with whatever the administration says needs to happen.

It appears that the Democrat Party, at this point, is more intent on holding onto power than actually following the science and allowing the vaccine to be the end of the pandemic.

Boycott the Gaslight Media and Save America

A classic gaslight media moment--obvious riot being called "not unruly"

Article by Steve McCann in The American Thinker

Boycott the Gaslight Media and Save America

There is one major lesson that conservatives and frankly all Americans must learn: never accept at face value the reporting of any news event.   By foolishly acquiescing to the version of a story put out by the denizens of the mainstream media, the citizenry allows the ruling oligarchy to set the narrative and exploit the inevitably fabricated incidents that further their cause.  In place of “mainstream media,” they ought to be called Gaslight Media, for their role is not to report the truth, but rather to manipulate the public into a mental state conducive to obedience. As defined medically, gaslighting is:

…a form of psychological abuse where a person or group makes someone question their sanity, perception of reality, or memories. People experiencing gaslighting often feel confused, anxious, and unable to trust themselves.

These statists are aware that once their version of a story has been repeated ad nauseum for days or weeks the bulk of the populace will accept it as the truth, thus, achieving near-permanent status in the national discourse.

Every quasi-totalitarian movement in modern history has employed a Gaslight arm to further their aims and manipulate the masses.  What was once a respected vehicle of newsgathering and reporting, the Gaslight Media, is now the full-throated disinformation ministry of the left-wing ruling oligarchy.

The most common thread throughout the history of those determined to achieve societal and governmental hegemony is the unabashed utilization of falsehoods that will aid in achieving their ends.  The simple fact of the matter is the left lies.  All who pledge fealty to any version of Marxism/socialism lie.  Bootlickers currying favor from the ruling elites lie.  Lying is the foundational principle of totalitarianism.  A corollary of that principle is the deliberate misreporting of events to give voice to those lies.

A recent example of this tactic is the reporting in the immediate days following the breach of the Capitol on January 6th of this year.  The incident was almost instantaneously characterized as an “armed insurrection.”  Five people were said to have been murdered in the mayhem.  Supposedly, a policeman was savagely beaten to death with a fire extinguisher by a Trump supporter, and this was widely reported in the New York Times and throughout the media.  All the so-called insurgents were branded as Trump supporters (i.e., domestic terrorists) who were incited by President Trump’s speech to go on a murderous rampage and threaten the lives of Senators and Representatives.  President Trump had blood on his hands, therefore, impeachment and a permanent sanction against his seeking the presidency in the future was an absolute necessity.

The silence and, thus, tacit acquiescence by the Republican Party hierarchy and establishment conservatives to these outrageous allegations was deafening as they began to take on a life of their own.

Yet, how difficult was it to make even a modest effort to accurately report on the events if the Gaslight Media had chosen to do so?  And for the Republican Party leadership and conservative establishment to not immediately cower in a corner?

I attended the “Stop the Steal” rally in Washington D.C.   As I chose to stay in the vicinity of the Capitol rather than walk the nearly 2 miles to the Ellipse where President Trump was speaking, I witnessed first-hand the breach of the Capitol.   I wrote about the experience and my initial take-away the next morning and published the article in American Thinker.

Since the initial reporting, the truth has slowly leaked out, primarily through the alternative media.   We now know:

  1. That the FBI and other agencies as well as Congressional leaders were aware prior to the riot that militant and extremist groups were planning to cause chaos and breach the Capitol.   Thus, President Trump could not have incited the mayhem.
  2. That no one was murdered by demonstrators, and Officer Sicknick was not killed by a Trump supporter with a fire extinguisher but died of natural causes or exposure to tear gas.
  3. That three of the people supposedly murdered died of natural causes outside the Capitol building.
  4. That there was no “armed insurrection” as no one has been charged with using a firearm inside the Capitol, further, no demonstrator has been identified as even carrying a gun inside the building.
  5. That Congressional leaders, primarily Nancy Pelosi, deliberately tied the hands of the Capital Hill police and refused to call in additional police support or the National Guard.

But the initial story by the Gaslight Media set the narrative.  And narratives, in due course, evolve into unquestioned and irrefutable facts if not immediately and aggressively questioned or refuted.  Over the past five years, the examples of the Gaslight Media lies and manipulation in order to establish a false narrative as well as the failure of conservatives and Republicans to aggressively counter the narrative are legion.

There was the Russian collusion fairy tale wherein Donald Trump was the evil turncoat who sold out his country to Vladimir Putin in order to win the 2016 election.  Virtually no elected Republican or establishment conservative pushed back against this absurdity.  Thus, for three years that fable led to daily breathless “revelations” on the nightly news and front pages hamstringing the Trump Administration.

All those involved in the deception, including the Gaslight Media, knew the story was false and defamatory but persisted regardless as they had succeeded in convincing a sizable plurality of Americans that Donald Trump was a traitor.  To this day nearly half of all Americans believe Trump was in league with Russia to steal the 2016 election despite all the investigations and exonerations.

In the spring of 2020, the Gaslight Media seized on the death of George Floyd, a career criminal, to bludgeon the American citizenry with uncorroborated stories of police brutality and so-called systemic racism.  While the paramilitary brigades of the left, Antifa and Black Lives Matter, were burning down cities and looting businesses, the media was lavishing praise and excusing their behavior, calling the demonstrators “mostly peaceful.”  At the same time, the Gaslight Media had unabashedly undertaken the mission of convincing 70% of the population that they are guilty of being inherently racist and, therefore, must surrender to the demands placed on them by the left on behalf of the ruling oligarchy.

Cowardly succumbing to racial blackmail, many corporations slavishly poured untold millions into the coffers of America’s left-wing domestic terrorists further emboldening them in their militant ambitions.  But as the media had framed the entire sorry spectacle around race, few on the right spoke out, questioning the veracity of the reporting, as the ruling oligarchy became more entrenched while livelihoods were crushed, and innocent people murdered.

At the beginning of the Chinese Coronavirus, before any facts were known or serious medical investigations begun, mass panic was induced by the Gaslight Media running around the country touting theoretical studies claiming millions of Americans would die if the citizenry did not crawl into a bunker and shut down the economy.  Despite the obvious irrationality of that premise, very few on the right or the Republican Party pushed back.

For the first time in the history of mankind a society decided to quarantine the healthy instead of the sick.  The fear-mongers were wrong but not before they irretrievably convinced a significant majority of Americans that the grim reaper lurked around every corner.  But more importantly they utilized this fear and attendant lockdowns to destroy the Trump economy and set up a mechanism to manipulate the 2020 election in order to defeat their nemesis… the financial and emotional damage to the average American be damned.

This nation is at a crossroads.  The left-wing ruling oligarchy dominates nearly all societal institutions.  But they cannot succeed in their effort to transform this nation’s political system into a one-party oligarchy without the active role of the Gaslight Media.   Therefore, all thinking Americans must stop accepting at face value any reporting on any issue originating from this cabal.  There must be constant and unremitting push back by the bulk of the conservative movement and Republican elected officials to immediately question the premise and details of any story.   The time has come for us to set the narratives not the Gaslight Media.

Supreme Court Clears Path for New York Grand Jury to Receive President Trump Tax Returns

The background of all these institutional moves is obvious if we stand back far enough to see the bigger picture.  Ultimately, Donald Trump represented an existential threat to the corrupt systems of U.S. government established over the past several decades.

As an outsider Donald J Trump had never participated in government beyond cursory attachment to some political figures.

However, Trump held the greatest priority over protecting the U.S. economy, worker and way of life for the middle-class.

President Trump’s motives in office were all about rebuilding the systems that provided Americans with a better way of life and advocated for a true nationalistic perspective.

In the era of advancing leftist-globalism; and considering the trillions previously spent to protect multinational corporations at the expense of the U.S. working-class; anything President Trump did to reverse this erosion was viewed as detrimental to the elitist worldview.  As a true populist and nationalist minded politician President Trump represented the ‘people’, the best interests of ‘We The Peoople’, that made him a threat.

Trillions potentially lost, billions of scheme and personal wealth assembled by the professional political class, and untold amounts of money invested overseas were all at risk from the policies of President Trump.  The money was the foundation for the motives of attack against him personally and against his policies.

It does not come as a surprise to see the institutions of government weaponize their investigative authority; their ability to attack the financial wealth of their adversaries; as the tool to crush and eliminate their opposition.  The DOJ followed this same playbook when they weaponized the IRS against the Tea Party uprising in 2010 and beyond.

Most people have forgotten it was the Eric Holder DOJ who initiated the original IRS targeting of Tea Party groups; it was not the IRS working independently on its own.  The IRS is viewed by radical leftists amid the Lawfare crew as an institutional weapon in their arsenal to deploy against their adversaries.

This decision today should not be a surprise:

The Supreme Court on Monday cleared the way for a New York grand jury to obtain former President Donald Trump’s financial records. Over four months after Trump asked them to intervene, the justices turned down a request by the former president to stay a ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit that permits Cyrus Vance, the district attorney for Manhattan, to enforce a subpoena to Mazars USA, the president’s longtime accountant. Monday’s order means that Vance and the grand jury likely will finally acquire eight years of Trump’s tax returns and other related records, although grand jury secrecy laws may preclude them from becoming public.  (read more)

In October 2015 the DOJ announced it was dropping the investigation into the IRS, Lois Lerner, and the unlawful sharing of taxpayer data in the IRS targeting investigation surrounding True The Vote et al.

As a direct consequence of the DOJ decision, congressional inquiry into the IRS targeting matter seemingly dropped from the radar. However, if you draw a line from the original intent of the entire enterprise, the post-2010 mid-term “shellacking”/”secret research project“, forward to the 2016 election cycle an interested observer might still be left asking:

“why did the IRS, through Lois Lerner, deliver the 1+ million pages of tax filings, to include the entire donor list of Tea Party and patriot groups, through 21 CD-ROMs and not by electronic data transfer. Information that was specifically sent to Eric Holder and the U.S. Department of Justice”?

This is an obvious question which, despite the numerous congressional hearings on the matter, was never asked – nor answered.

The entire scheme is riddled with complexity; almost too complex for the average person to understand, and seriously difficult to summarize. However, when you boil it down here’s the essential components that are no longer suspicion or supposition, but factually provable:

As a result of a trillion dollar stimulus filled with scheme and graft; and as a result of Obamacare being similarly schemed in backroom deals and late night votes; President Obama was “shellacked” in the November 2010 election.

The White House didn’t see the defeat a flawed policy issue; rather as the entrenched ideologues they are, they saw the SCOTUS case “citizens united” as the principle tool used by the White House opponents to organize and fund political movements, ie. the tea party.

The Obama Team response to the 2010 Shellacking was to use the Dept. of Justice (AG Eric Holder) to weaponize the IRS and go after groups -like Tea Party Groups- organized under the financial umbrella of 501(c)(4) donation structuring.

Years later, when the scheme was discovered – the White House denied knowledge (“not even a smidgen of corruption”), the DOJ feigned ignorance, and the IRS began working overtime trying to hide the construct of the prior communication, planning and strategy.

  • The head of IRS tax exempt division, Louis Lerner, pled the Fifth.
  • Obama’s Chief of Staff Jack Lew was made Treasury Secretary (IRS is sub division of Treasury Dept.) where he was/is able to continue hiding information.
  • And Eric Holder constructed a team of DOJ lawyers to isolate, hide and manipulate the trail of evidence within the DOJ.

Just before the IRS targeting scheme was fully discovered/comprehended, and seemingly overlooked by any curious media enterprise, in February 2013 representative Maxine Waters said:

“The President has put in place an organization with the kind of database that no one has ever seen before in life. That’s going to be very, very powerful. That database will have information about everything on every individual on ways that it’s never been done before and whoever runs for President on the Democratic ticket has to deal with that. They’re going to go down with that database and the concerns of those people because they can’t get around it. And he’s [President Obama] been very smart. It’s very powerful what he’s leaving in place.” (link)

Loose Lips Sink UniParty Scheme Ships

Against, the backdrop of new information which proves the UniParty, both dems and republicans, benefitted from the targeting of the Tea Party and oppositional forces; and with the full comprehension that Mitch McConnell and the republican leadership organized a post Citizens United strategy to work around their financial dependency on the electorate via Super-PACs; aren’t you just a little bit curious what the purpose was to assemble a data-base or “Secret Research Project“?

Lois Lerner’s and other IRS officials’ concerns about how to handle these donor lists came on the heels of an advisory from the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) to her and other IRS officials in late March 2012 of “an audit we plan to conduct of the IRS’s process for reviewing applications for tax exemption by potential section 501(c)(4), 501(c)(5), and 501(c)(6) organizations.”

March 2012 “audit we plan to conduct” was the IG notification for a pending investigation of IRS. Specifically of their handling of Conservative Groups filing applications and status.

We all know the result of that investigation was a finding the IRS was indeed targeting conservative groups – hence the IRS scandal erupted in the headlines.

However, far more troubling were later discoveries into the internal communications which suggested much more nefarious activity regarding the assembly of secret lists, the “Secret Research Project”.

An undertaking by both the Obama Administration and the DOJ together with the IRS began to surface.

The American Center for Law and Justice put it thuslyWe know the IRS unconstitutionally targeted conservative groups. We know they illegally demanded, obtained, and held the donor lists of these conservative organizations. Now we learn that in 2012, the height of the targeting, the IRS was involved in a “secret research project” with this confidential, illegally obtained donor information.

That’s more than a big deal. It’s potentially criminal.

The very fact that the IRS was using the phrase “secret research project” should give every American pause. But the fact that this project was conducted as part of a well-orchestrated effort to target and silence conservative Americans is utterly disturbing.

Now, again, ask yourself: Why would Lois Lerner be delivering 21 CD-ROMs of data, lists of every American who joined arms with the Tea Party, to Eric Holder in the DOJ instead of just transferring that data over their internal computer systems?

WASHINGTON […] “After the Justice Department turned over the database to the Oversight Committee this month in response to a subpoena, the Justice Department says it was informed by IRS officials that it contains legally protected taxpayer information that should not have ever been sent to the FBI and it now plans to return the full database to the IRS,” a statement from the oversight committee said.

According to material obtained by the committee, the IRS sent the FBI “21 disks constituting a 1.1 million page database of information from 501(c)(4) tax exempt organizations, to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”

The transaction occurred in October 2010. (link)
