Labeling and its consequences
Labeling and its consequences
In the press, intelligentsia, and on the left, Donald Trump and his supporters have been consistently referred to as terrorists, Klansmen, and Nazis.
Arizona's Secretary of State Katie Hobbs labeled Trump supporters “his neo-Nazi base” in a tweet she posted in August 2017. This tweet was left up for three years and two months. Hobbs is the chief election officer of the state. She is in charge of the vote “counting” in Arizona. She has also accused President Trump of attempting to “sabotage” the U.S. Postal Service in an effort to influence the election. Can she be trusted to be impartial?
CNN’s plummily titled Chief International Anchor, Christiane Amanpour, recalled Kristallnacht, the infamous anti-Jewish pogrom carried out in Nazi Germany in 1938, by noting that President Donald Trump’s presidency has similarly been a “modern day assault” attacking “those same values.” She claimed, "That tower of burning books . . . led to an attack on fact, knowledge, history and truth,” and: "After four years of a modern-day assault on those same values by Donald Trump, the Biden/Harris team pledges a return to norms, including the truth.” The Trump administration's Kristallnacht and book burning were never covered by the press.
Beto O'Rourke compared Trump's rally in Greenville, North Carolina to Nazi Germany: "That's Nuremberg to me."
He wasn't the only one. Joe Scarborough discussing a Trump rally in North Carolina, “That’s the president, actually, from his Nuremberg rally from last night.” It was another obvious reference to the Nazi rallies at Nuremberg.
The Nazi talk went beyond that: Former CIA and NSA chief Michael Hayden compared President Trump’s immigration policies to that of Nazi Germany, too. “Other governments have separated mothers and children,” Hayden wrote next to a black-and-white photo of Auschwitz.
Others dished out references to the Klan. Democratic congressional candidate from North Carolina, Moe Davis, stated “When @NCGOP extremists go low, we stomp their scrawny pasty necks with our heels and once you hear the sound of a crisp snap you grind your heel hard and twist it slowly side to side for good measure. He needs to know who whupped his ass.” Davis compared Trump rallies to “Klan rallies” and “make American great again” hats to “new KKK hoods.” For some reason voters in his district decided not to elect him.
CNN contributor and liberal "intellectual" Reza Aslan called for the “eradication” of Trump supporters. Aslan remarked that President Donald Trump "is a white nationalist terror leader. His supporters – ALL OF THEM – are by definition white nationalist terror supporters. The MAGA hat is a KKK hood. And his evil, racist scourge must be eradicated from society.” The characterization of Trump supporters as an “evil, racist scourge” is reminiscent of the Holocaust. In references to the genocide, identical language is used by historians, journalists, and human rights organizations. Aslan also called for violence against the Covington Catholic High School boys. He asked in a tweet, “Honest question. Have you seen a more punchable face than this kid’s?” Patrick Buchanan asserted, "To true believers in the revolution, the Right is not just wrong; the Right is evil."
"Historian" Jon Meacham claimed, "Donald Trump is a product of the white man’s, the anguished, nervous, white guys lizard brain."
"Comedian" Bill Maher made a joke about Trump’s mom having sex with an orangutan. “To determine whether he is in fact the love child of a human woman and an orangutan from the Brooklyn zoo,” Maher said. “Look, I’m not saying your mother was repeatedly ****ing an orangutan back in the 1940s, I don’t know if that’s true I hope it’s not true. But given your face, your physique and your intelligence level and of course your hair, the American people deserve some real proof that your mother did not spend most nights in 1945 covering her body in banana oil sneaking into the monkey cage and compulsively humping an orange orangutan.”
All of these pundits have remained employed and have been lauded for their courage for speaking truth to power. Are their more egregious comments that would require someone to be fired. Apparently, the answer is 'yes.' Radio personality Grant Napear was fired by his radio station and resigned as the Sacramento Kings TV play-by-play announcer after his tweet that said “All Lives Matter” became public. The Southern Poverty Law Center has designated the Singing Nuns, a traditional Catholic sisters organization, a hate group. The Little Sisters of the Poor are also under investigation.
There is a danger in labeling. A 2007 Clark University study of hate speech claimed, “Dehumanization is a frequent element of hate speech, and is used to vilify the target. It also has the effect of disinhibiting violence. Thus, dehumanizing descriptions of individuals and groups are an alarming signal of hate speech and the danger of future violence.” After the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing the late Washington Post columnist, David Broder wrote: “The bombing shows how dangerous it really is to inflame twisted minds with statements that suggest political opponents are enemies." Floyd Corkins, a LGBT volunteer shot up the conservative Family Research Council headquarters in August 2012. Corkins admitted he got his information from the Southern Poverty Law Center website.

January 6, 2020, a Day that Will Live in Political Infamy
January 6, 2020, a Day that Will Live in Political Infamy
I attended the “Million MAGA March” on January 6, along with the Mainstreet Patriots chapter of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I did so not because I believed the Republicans in the Senate or Vice-President Mike Pence would do the right thing -- I knew they would not -- but because it marked th beginning of Middle America’s determination to take back the country. What form that determination will take is up to the wannabe autocrats in the Ruling Class and in particular its Democrat party subsidiary.
I did not go to the Ellipse at the White House to watch President Trump’s speech but opted to remain in the vicinity of the Capitol and watched his speech on a widescreen monitor set up at the Russell Senate Office Building. After the speech ended, I and Mainstreet Patriot member Mike Goldberg walked less than a block to Capitol Hill to join the ever-growing crowd at the West Front of the Capitol.
As we were able to position ourselves within 75 yards of the entrance, we noticed that among a large cadre of what appeared to be young Trump supporters there were many frankly stereotypical Antifa-looking militants waving Trump flags on the steps attempting to get to the doors as the useless barriers of portable and plastic fencing had been easily breached. These militants were at the entrance area before Trump’s speech at the Ellipse (two miles away) was finished. The speech could not have incited the subsequent mayhem. It was obvious to me that the Capitol Hill and Metro police were deliberately ill-prepared for a crowd of any size, much less the hundreds of thousands that ultimately arrived. Further, the police presence was miniscule and their only attempt at crowd control were a few random canisters of tear gas.
As the crowd at the steps grew, we saw the few police in attendance step aside and essentially allow the mob to flow into the Capitol. And thus, the Ruling Class and its media arm had the story for the day and the validation of their programmed mindset of stereotypically portraying the rally attendees as violent deplorables and President Trump as the execrable instigator.
Other than at the immediate Capitol building, among a small handful of what I am convinced were overwhelmingly anti-Trump demonstrators, there were no incidents. Among the overall police presence none were required to disperse or control perhaps 500,000+ attendees. Having attended numerous rallies since the late 1960s, this was the largest and most peaceful I have witnessed. Many police officers we talked to said the same.
What I did witness was the confluence of the inhabitants of Middle America of all races and creeds, there to not only express their exasperation with the fraudulent election, but to tell the denizens of the Ruling Class that they are no longer the meek, easily manipulated occupants of flyover country. They are committed to taking back the country from those determined to eviscerate the Constitution for their own megalomaniacal gains.
I met people who had traveled from as far away as Hawaii, California, Oregon, Texas, and Alaska. When I asked why, when travel has been made so difficult with the Chinese Virus restrictions, they to a person said: “We had to come and make a statement.” Further, the general sentiments were that if we cannot have honest and fair elections then we do not have a country anymore. Thus, we can no longer be passive -- we have to get out and march, demonstrate, force the states to change election laws, and throw out the politicians that have betrayed their oath and those that elected them.
This march was also an opportunity to express an unalloyed appreciation of President Trump as being the only major political figure since Ronald Reagan to genuinely and unselfishly love America and all of its citizens and for his never-ending battle with the Ruling Class despite the personally destructive and often unfair tactics arrayed against him. Those who are mired in the self-serving and narcissistic swamp of Washington, D.C., or the egomaniacal cesspool of Silicon Valley, or the ostentatious affectations of Hollywood, or the uliginous halls of Wall Street, will never understand the genuine affection that Middle America has for Donald J. Trump. Much of this affection, frankly, has been precipitated by their loathing for the current American Ruling Class.
I abhor trafficking in conspiracy theories and have avoided doing so over my entire adult life. Nonetheless, I cannot help but entertain a growing suspicion in the back of my mind, after having witnessed firsthand the events of January 6 and the near complete lack of police presence at the Capitol, and knowing what Antifa has done in other pro-Trump rallies that the powers-to-be at a minimum hoped that what happened would happen. So deep is the loathing for President Trump and his supporters by the Ruling Class that I cannot rule out this possibility.
So, to the Democrat, Republican, corporatist and professorial subsidiaries of the Ruling Class, a paraphrased message from a member of the Mainstreet Patriots: We in Middle America have always abided by the adage that we do not riot, we vote. Now you have taken away the vote.
Time for Trump to start the Great American Party
Time for Trump to start the Great American Party
Vice President Mike Pence is an honorable gentleman. We know from Jenna Ellis, a constitutional law scholar and Donald Trump's legal counsel, that he is fully aware of the unconstitutionality of the Electoral Count Act. He is also fully aware that he has the authority to call on the contested states of AZ, GA, MI, NV, PA, and WI to have their legislatures revisit the certification of their electoral votes before allowing them to be counted. And yet... nothing.
Joe Biden will be our next President. He didn't win, he stole the office. Or more accurately, it was stolen for him. Trump's trusted ally, Mike Pence, has refused to fight.
To Pence's name we must add a legion of other subsea invertebrates with "R" after their names. So-called "Republicans" have in large measure become pale versions of their political counterparts across the aisle. One wag put it this way: Republicans are Democrats, just twenty years late. Translated into plain English, our frustration with D.C. is with almost all those who have official chairs in the Congress, the White House, and supporting agencies. Those people serve themselves, with complete disregard for those of us who live outside the Beltway. The stolen election has lit a match.
Donald Trump will change his address within a couple of weeks. He will still have a voice, but the swamp and fake news media will feel free to ignore him unless the Democrats in power decide to prosecute him as an example for any who might ever again deign to think or speak freely. The Republican Party will happily disregard him as an uncomfortable interlude in their peaceful slide into irrelevance.
If America is to have a future as something other than a vessel for the aggrandizement and enrichment of the privileged few, Donald Trump is probably the only figure large enough to create an organization with the size and sway to elect officials who are committed to the idea that the people are the rulers of America, as he said in his inaugural address.
Just as Make America Great Again captured the imagination, this new party needs a name that grabs us. I propose that he should call it the "Great American Party." Every true patriot would be welcome to join.
Next, it needs a permanent clear statement of principles, or it will immediately be taken over by hungry, corrupt people. To that end, this could be a starting list:
- The purpose of government is found in the Preamble to the Constitution: to "secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity." To that end, Thoreau's statement, "That government is best which governs least," should be our lodestar.
- The first purpose of the Department of Justice must be to find and prosecute all corruption in government, regardless of party. The higher the official, the more important the investigation.
- Government's only purpose is to do those few things that the general public simply cannot do for themselves. Police and the military come first. The purpose of the police is to protect American citizens. The purpose of the military is to protect America, not "America's interests." Foreign military adventures must be limited and in the context of declared war.
- The federal government must operate on a balanced budget. "Continuing resolutions" are an excuse to do nothing. Every Cabinet-level department must be funded in a completely separate act of Congress. "Omnibus" bills are an abomination and must not be tolerated. Aid to foreign governments must be ended.
- Laws must be interpreted according to their original understanding, with the original meaning of the words firmly grasped.
- Anything the Congress declines to adequately define in a statute must not be left to any administrative agency. Further, an "independent agency" is an unconstitutional animal that should be killed and mounted as a trophy.
- Every action of government should be to increase freedom. In particular, it should be cognizant of the true American Dream: the idea that you are free to bust your butt to make a better life and not have it stolen from you by anyone, not even the government. The government must not take what you have busted your butt to produce and give it to someone who won't get off his own butt.
- All elections must be free and fair. All ballots and other records pertinent to elections are public records and must be freely available for examination. All ballots and records must be stored in an indelible form until the next regular election. All processes must be completely transparent and arranged to allow intensive real-time monitoring by all interested parties. No electronic vote-counting equipment may allow the changing of any vote, and no such equipment may be in two-way communication with any outside agency. Votes must be officially tallied only within the jurisdiction in which they are cast. Funds for campaigns (and interested PACs) must exclusively originate within the district (or at least the state) to be represented by the candidate. All votes must originate with an eligible, properly registered voter who has voted in the time and manner specified by the Legislature.
I'm certain that these are just the beginning of a "more perfect" list. But unlike political parties that pass "platforms" that survive only as long as the convention in which they are adopted, these must form the permanent Constitution of the new Party. Any so-called party leader who stands opposed to any of these must be removed. Anyone willing to honestly subscribe to them would be welcomed.
If Donald Trump were to engage in such an adventure, it is virtually certain that it would rapidly gain traction. Recall that in an era with much slower communication, the Republican Party went from an upstart in 1854 to electing Abraham Lincoln to the presidency in six short years.
Chinese communists boast about Uighur women’s sterilizations
Chinese communists boast about Uighur women’s sterilizations
Disgusting news broke yesterday: The Chinese Embassy in the United States proudly announced on Twitter that its sterilization policy for Uighur women in “residential communities” was actually liberating them by protecting them from the horror of being baby-making machines. It was an eerie echo of Barack Obama’s pronouncements about the necessity of early birth control as a way to protect his daughters from the punishment of a baby.
This is a real tweet from the Chinese embassy in the U.S. (As you read it, keep in mind that Twitter bans the United States president from its site, but not the Chinese Communist Party):
Rita Panahi understood what lay behind that tweet:
Once upon a time, even leftist outlets reported on the forced sterilization program of captive Uighur women.
However, in the linked article in the China Daily, which is the official party organ of the Chinese Communist Party, the CCP pushes back against those nasty accusations. It touts, instead, the wonders of its liberating birth control policies vis-à-vis Uighur residents in “residential communities”:
Decreases in the birthrate and natural population growth rate in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region in 2018 resulted from the eradication of religious extremism, a report released on Thursday said.
The report on population change in Xinjiang published by the Xinjiang Development Research Center said extremism had incited people to resist family planning and its eradication had given Uygur women more autonomy when deciding whether to have children.
The changes were not caused by "forced sterilization" of the Uygur population, as repeatedly claimed by some Western scholars and politicians, it said.
This is Orwellian language. The reason “extremism” has been eradicated, is because China has been systematically assembling Uighurs in concentration camps and using them for slave labor and forced organ donations. You get faint echoes of what really happened in this paragraph:
For a period of time, the penetration of religious extremism made implementing family planning policy in southern Xinjiang, including Kashgar and Hotan prefectures, particularly difficult, the research center's report said. That had led to rapid population growth in those areas as some extremists incited locals to resist family planning policy, resulting in the prevalence of early marriage and bigamy, and frequent unplanned births.
In other words, the CCP’s ethnic and religious enemies were having too many children, so the CCP put a stop to that. Doubt me? How about this:
The Uygur population grew from 10.2 million in 2010 to 12.7 million in 2018, an increase of more than 25 percent, while the population of Han people in the region increased by just 2 percent to 9 million over the same period.
Let me translate again: China’s one-child policy has worked for the preferred Han citizens, but the Uighur’s weren’t getting on board with the program. Now they are, whether they like it or not.
But let’s get back to the wonders of the new Chinese policies. You see, it’s for the women!
In the process of eradicating extremism, the minds of Uygur women were emancipated and gender equality and reproductive health were promoted, making them no long baby-making machines, it said. Women have since been striving to become healthy, confident and independent.
The moment I read those words – how saving women from babies liberates them – I could think of only one thing and that’s Obama insisting that young children need to be taught about birth control:
“I’ve got two daughters, 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.” (Emphasis mine.)
In China, those lucky-ducky Uighur women aren’t going to face that kind of punishment ever again.
ABC News Political Director Calls For Cleansing Of Trump Voters
ABC News Political Director Rick Klein called for the “cleansing” of Trump supporters Thursday following the Capitol Hill chaos, which featured the president’s loyal followers storming the complex.
“Trump will be an ex-president in 13 days. The fact is that getting rid of Trump is the easy part,” Klein wrote in a since-deleted post on Twitter, which already banned the president for 12 hours after the riots and teed up a permanent suspension. “Cleansing the movement he commands is going to be something else.”
Klein’s calls for cleansing are reminiscent of leftist demands to reprimand the 74 million Americans who voted for the president in the November election last year.
Former Pete Buttigieg staffer and Obama campaign spokesman Hari Sevugan responded to New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s request for GOP punishment by touting the “Trump Accountability Project,” creating lists “to make sure anyone who took a paycheck to help Trump undermine America is held responsible for what they did.”
The calls for widespread punishment have only undermined Democrats’ claims that they are promoting unity, exposing their lip service to a deeply divided nation.
The destruction Wednesday on Capitol Hill, where thousands of Trump supporters flooded congressional hallways in a day of unrest that claimed the lives of four people, came as a symptom of the nation’s ills. Blaming the 74 million Americans for provoking the insurrection reveals a profound misunderstanding of the events that traumatized a scarred nation still recovering from the near-dystopian nightmares of the last 12 months.
Here’s what Federalist Publisher Ben Domenech wrote in The Transom republished in The Federalist Thursday:
A comment from an apolitical friend who wandered into the room where the roiling crowd was on the screen in the early afternoon yesterday: “Is that Black Lives Matter?” No, it’s not — but also, it is. An apolitical viewer of the summer of 2020 would learn one distinct lesson: If you want to be heard, if you want to be listened to, you need to go into the streets, make a ruckus, set things on fire, and tear down icons of America. This disrespect will be welcomed, hailed, and supported if your cause is just and your motives are righteous.
Just about everyone who showed up on Capitol Hill yesterday believed that about why they were there. The only difference between the horned man standing in the Senate chair or the smiling man hauling the speaker’s podium out the door and the fellow who attempted to tear down Andrew Jackson’s statue or the criminal who set fire to St. John’s Church is a matter of jersey color.
The nation is sick. It’s deeply divided, and its problems are only getting worse. But rooting out political opponents as those who need to be “cleansed” will only foment future violence, and it won’t go away with Trump.
Taking the Wrong Lessons From Capitol Building Protest
Taking the Wrong Lessons From Capitol Building Protest
We are being gaslighted into taking the wrong lessons from Tuesday’s rally/protest in Washington, DC. No question about it, the activities there have really energized the news cycle. Also, there is no question that there were, based on the video and stills I saw, some fairly minor criminal acts, trespassing and property damage and the like.
Of no great surprise however, is the pearl clutching by leftist politicians and of course their fellow travelers, the media. Speaker Pelosi, Minority Leader Schumer, the Junior Senator from California and the former Vice President of these United States, have all come out with self serving statements about the trespass and minor property damage that took place Tuesday afternoon at the U.S. Capitol Building.
All four of these luminaries decried the incident involving few people, almost no violence and minor property damage, as some sort of all out assault on our system of government. Recently declared President Elect Biden blew the incident totally out of proportion claiming:
Joe Biden: “Yesterday, in my view, one of the darkest days in the history of our nation. An unprecedented assault on our democracy”
Read: Biden Makes Bizarre Claim About MAGA Riots At U.S. Capitol, to see more of his demented ramblings.
The above is not unexpected, and moreover, not really important in the bigger scheme of things. After all, leftists, even the demented ones, are going to exaggerate, deflect, gaslight and even flat out lie in order to get what they want. They will take that to even higher levels if they believe they can deliver a mortal blow to an enemy they despise. And they despise President Donald J. Trump. They hate him even more than the formidable Ronaldus Magnus, who with malice and forethought, single handedly brought upon the demise of the former Soviet Union and in so doing liberated the other half of Europe from the thrall of Communism.
What is also not surprising, but still terribly disappointing, is the reaction of folks who are allegedly Trump allies and by extension, the conservative/MAGA movement’s. I’m talking about Republican legislators and cabinet appointees..and even a few “conservative” pundits. Today has been one of their virtue signaling run amok. Along with the typical leftists like Speaker Pelosi and and her sometime ally, Representative Occasionally Cogent, who goes by the moniker AOC, we have yet another mewling Republican virtue signaleer. Representative Adam Kinzinger (R) tweeted:
It’s with a heavy heart I am calling for the sake of our Democracy that the 25th Amendment be invoked.
Along with a video, you can see the entire tweet and video in the article below.
Read: GOP House Member Calls for 25th Amendment to Remove Trump
25th Amendment? For what?! This guy needs to get primaried at the very next opportunity. He isn’t the only political coward. Joining him in morally preening, are a number of White House staffers who have resigned along with at least one Cabinet Member, Mrs. McConnell/Chau
Read: Wave of White House Officials Resign Following Capitol Riots
We’ve also seen a number of other “allies” both legislators and political pundits jumping on this bandwagon. There have been more than a few who claim that the essentially minor incursion (when compared to say the Wisconsin State Capitol/Legislature complete takeover…remember, “This is what democracy looks like!?”) has destroyed our credibility, destroyed the MAGA movement and mad it impossible for us to move forward to deal with voting fraud.
My response to them is to say, “Horsehockey!” This is not only not by any means any “kiss of death.” It’s an opportunity. But only if we refuse to be gaslit by the left as they tried to do all day yesterday and on into today. The media attempted to gaslight the entire United States into believing that there was some sort of massive, violent “assault” and/or out of control riot at the U.S. Capitol building. That is flat out untrue.
I watched the whole thing, and when you compare the misdemeanor trespass and minor property damage compared to a year of ANTIFA/BLM bloody riots, looting, arson and flat out murder or attempted murder of fellow citizens, including police officers, yesterday was essentially a non-incident. Non-incident, except for what appears to be an unwarranted use of deadly force by the police, which resulted in the death of a U.S. citizen and Air Force Veteran with multiple combat tours. And yeah…I saw the video. It wasn’t pretty.
As I wrote yesterday and although I still decry any criminal act committed by a very few individuals, in the greater scheme of things and by objective measure, they were pretty much a nothing burger. They were also the quite expected result of of the mistreatment and marginalization of 74 million Americans.
Read: Opinion: Just What Were You Expecting?
Well folks, based on what people are telling me, we can expect more of the same if the weaklings who are allegedly conservative allies, don’t stop with their moral preening and gaslighting conservatives. As my colleague Bonchie said, this garbage about removing President Trump before Inauguration Day, would be an extremely unwise choice.
Read: Has the 25th Amendment Basically Been Invoked?
I will tell you what else might be an unwise and extremely counter productive choice, attempted retribution against Trump supporters, which ABC News is promoting:
There are even some on the left…hopefully the fringe, but these days who knows…who are advocating reeducation of Trump followers. Re-education? Are they serious? Well, based on the actions of the left since Donald Trump got elected (the first time) I would have to say they are indeed serious, deadly serious.
Which brings me to all the virtue signaling, conservative “allies.” They need to stop focusing on the activities inside the Capitol Building yesterday and start focusing on what brought a hundred thousand or more people to Washington, DC in the first place. The folks who are supposedly on the conservative team, need to start doing the redress of grievances thing, as described in the U.S. Constitution.
Conservative politicians and pundits need to address very real concerns. Here are a few as described to me by folks I call “solid citizens,” those folks who got to work, pay taxes and raise their kids and don’t pay a lot of attention to politics…unless backed into a corner. Those folks tell me (a little license with verbiage to protect sources):
Trump didn’t cause what happened yesterday…a “long train of usurpations” did. We finally got tired of being called bitter clingers, deplorables who live in flyover countries. We got tired of being called rubes. When we finally find a Paladin who will fight for us (as flawed as he is) the other side made up a bunch of crap…long since debunked now…and put the country through a two year investigation and impeachment.
The political destruction of a decorated General Officer’s reputation and net worth, over something he didn’t do. When DOJ, finally forced to cough up exculpatory evidence, decided to drop the charges, a corrupt judge appointed another counsel to argue against that.
The press, helped the DNC and the Biden team openly and notoriously steal an election in broad freeking daylight. then the court system refused to hear evidence and grant discovery (except in one case)…and thus the left was able to destroy evidence….ballot envelopes, signature verification…ballots…memory cards.
These folks are telling me, this isn’t about Trump. This is about denying 74 million voters a voice. This is about pushing back on leftist gaslighting…and sadly, some of the same by putative allies.
From what more than a few of my fellow Americans have told me, if there isn’t some change by the right side of the aisle at the National, State and local levels, we can likely see even more and much larger demonstrations. Of course, any student of history will tell you this is what happens if you deliberately marginalize 74 million people.

28 Times Media & Dems Excused Or Endorsed Violence Committed By Left-Wing Activists
Democrats and their allies in the media are ready to condemn riots now that the turmoil has shifted to fit their narrative.
On Wednesday, a mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol building. It was an astonishing display of anarchic protest that delayed congressional certification of the Electoral College vote formally handing former Vice President Joe Biden the keys to the White House.
The scenes from the dark day of disaster demonstrations illustrated a deteriorating country, repulsed millions, and traumatized a nation still recovering from the death, despair, and disruption that came to define the dystopian months of 2020. Above all, what happened Wednesday served as a grim reminder that the institutional stress test of 2020 has followed us into 2021.
For the left, however, the chaos at the Capitol has opened an opportunity to refute the perception they own the monopoly on widespread political violence. Democrats and left-wing media elites have already capitalized on the violent outbreak, where four people died, to characterize conservatives as the creatures of chaos.
At this point, it’s undeniable that the political far-right calls home to its own Antifa-like anarchists. It is also undeniable, however, that reaction to the protests from conservative leaders roundly condemning the violence from their own side stands in remarkable contrast to the way Democrats and corporate media spent months going out of their way attempting to justify the deadly actions of militant leftists.
Not one prominent conservative pundit or politician with any significant platform was reported to have tried endorsing the mob of Trump supporters infiltrating the U.S. Capitol. To the contrary, conservatives spent months vilifying Democratic leaders for not doing enough in their own states and cities to crack down on the militant mobs of leftists taking streets under siege, normalizing the kind of political violence on track to appear routine in the nightmare 2020 decade.
It was only seven months ago that Washington D.C. was last on fire.
A trip down memory lane chronicling the left’s reaction to last year’s eruption of unrest claiming the lives of at least 30 people not only exposes the hypocrisy suffusing Democrats’ condemnation of political violence, but also illustrates a sobering reality that there’s plenty of blame to go around for the situation in which the United States now finds itself.
1. Kamala Harris Urges Followers to Cover Rioters’ Bail
Incoming Vice President Kamala Harris encouraged her supporters last summer to donate to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, which provided bail money to the militant anarchists facing charges for setting fire to Minneapolis.
2. Chris Cuomo: Who Said Protests Were Supposed To Be Peaceful?
CNN’s Chris Cuomo showcased his ignorance of the First Amendment in June when dismissing the idea that militant protests sweeping the nation in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death were illegal.
“Please, show me where it says protesters are supposed to be polite and peaceful,” Cuomo demanded.
Here’s the text from the First Amendment, emphasis added:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
3. MSNBC Reporter Describes Fiery Scene ‘Mostly A Protest’
MSNBC’s Ali Velshi stood in front of a liquor store burning behind him in Minneapolis and called the riots surrounding the camera crew “mostly a protest” that is “not, generally speaking, unruly.”
“But fires have been started,” Velshi made clear to note.
4. CNN Labels Burning Protest ‘Fiery But Mostly Peaceful’
CNN continued to parody itself in August as a second wave of mass unrest swept the country with Kenosha, Wisconsin as its focal point. After the label “fiery but mostly peaceful” had become a trolling phrase online to describe legacy media’s coverage of the summer riots, the network literally adopted the words to describe events unfolding in Kenosha while a reporter stood in front of a several burning vehicles.
5. Democratic National Convention Refuses To Condemn Riots
Democrats went through their entire online convention without condemning the epidemic of left-wing violence that engulfed the nation in the preceding months.
6. Pulitzer Prize-Winning New York Times Writer:
Destroying Property Isn’t Violence
The New York Times’ architect of the “1619 Project,” Nikole Hannah-Jones, explicitly rejected the idea that destroying property fits the definition of “violence.”
“Destroying property, which can be replaced, is not violence,” Hannah-Jones said on CBS, to which the anchors offered no challenge.
“It’s a great point that you make, Nikole,” CBS’s Vladimir Duthiers replied.
Hannah-Jones also said it would be “an honor” for 2020 riots be deemed the “1619 Riots” despite destroying minority businesses.
7. PBS Reporter Denies Anarchists Are ‘Anarchists’
PBS White House Correspondent Yamiche Alcindor tried and failed to fact-check President Donald Trump in May, apparently faulting the president for not providing any evidence when calling the anarchists terrorizing cities “anarchists.”
