Trump Says All Avenues Exhausted, Calls for National Unity

Trump Says All Avenues Exhausted, Calls for National Unity

In a video released Thursday night, President Donald Trump acknowledged that all avenues of his election challenge have been exhausted; he said he will commit to a "smooth, orderly, and seamless transition of power."

He also condemned the "heinous attack" on the U.S. Capitol by some of his own supporters following a rally the previous day at which which he said he'd continue the fight.

"My campaign vigorously pursued every legal avenue to contest the election results," Trump said in a taped message from inside the White House. "My only goal was to ensure the integrity of the vote. In so doing, I was fighting to defend American democracy."

He said he still strongly believes election laws must be reformed to verify the identity and the eligibility of all voters and to ensure faith and confidence in all future elections.

"Now, Congress has certified the results. A new administration will be inaugurated on January 20th," Trump said. "My focus now turns to ensuring a smooth, orderly, and seamless transition of power."

The words were in stark contrast to reports that the president was pressuring his own vice president, Mike Pence, not to certify the results — something Pence told the president he was constitutionally bound to do.

But in a much calmer tone Thursday than his Wednesday rally, Trump said, "This moment calls for healing and reconciliation."

He noted the pandemic has "upended the lives of our citizens, isolated millions in their homes, done damage to our economy, and claimed countless lives."

Defeating the pandemic will require working together and a "renewed emphasis on patriotism, faith, charity, and family," he said.

"We must revitalize the sacred vows of love and loyalty that bind us together as one national family. … To all of my wonderful supporters, I know you're disappointed, but I also want you to know that our incredible journey is only just beginning."

Trump began the speech addressing the attack on the Capitol, that was breached as lawmakers were certifying the election win for his Democratic rival, President-elect Joe Biden.

"Like all Americans, I'm outraged by the violence, lawlessness, and mayhem," Trump said, saying he "immediately" deployed the National Guard and federal law enforcement to secure the building.

"America is and must always be a nation of law and order. The demonstrators who infiltrated the Capitol have defiled the seat of American democracy," he said. "To those who engaged in acts of violence … you do not represent our country. To those who broke the law, you will pay. We've just been through an intense election and emotions are high. But now, tempers must be called and calm restored."

The video comes after Trump has been largely silent after a social media ban by Facebook, Twitter and others after he initially posted messages that appeared to excuse the rioters' actions.

Pelosi Threatens to Do Something Drastic if Pence Does Not Remove Trump Under 25th Amendment

Article by Tyler O'Neil in PJMedia

Pelosi Threatens to Do Something Drastic if Pence Does Not Remove Trump Under 25th Amendment

On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) threatened to launch into immediate impeachment if Vice President Mike Pence and Trump’s cabinet do not immediately invoke the 25th Amendment to remove the president.

“Yesterday, the president of the United States incited an armed insurrection against America,” Pelosi began, mentioning the pro-Trump mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, leading to the death of four people. “The gleeful desecration of the U.S. Capitol, which is the temple of American democracy, and the violence targeting Congress, are horrors that will forever stain our nation’s history, instigated by the president of the United States. That’s why it’s such a sting.”

“In calling for this seditious act, the president has committed an unspeakable assault on our nation and our people. I join the Senate Democratic leader [Chuck Schumer] in calling on the vice president to remove this president by immediately invoking the 25th Amendment,” Pelosi declared. “If the vice president and cabinet do not act, the Congress may be prepared to move forward with impeachment. That is the overwhelming sentiment of my caucus, and the American people, by the way.”

“Justice will be done to those who carried out these acts, which were acts of sedition and acts of cowardice,” she added.

The 25th Amendment allows the vice president and the cabinet to remove a president on the grounds that he is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.” The president has the right to protest and claim he is able to discharge his duties, at which point the 25th Amendment gives the president an 8-day process period.

George Washington University professor Jonathan Turley warned against using the 25th Amendment to remove Trump. “You have to be very careful with this. When you start to remove presidents by what you perceive as a mental disability, it is a standard that can easily be abused,” Turley told Fox & Friends. “This is about constitutional faults, not character faults, and it’s very dangerous if you start to say, ‘Well, I just view him as unstable’ unless you’ve got very strong ground.”

Impeachment provides a faster and more effective tool so long as the House of Representatives and the Senate ease the process for speed. Ironically, Pelosi and the other Democrats cheapened impeachment by rushing a flimsy partisan case against Trump in 2019.

The Capitol riots may give Pelosi the right case to impeach Trump, but she already used that weapon. She would also need to build support among Republicans in the Senate, which may be a rather high bar.

Rush Limbaugh explains why Trump backers in government abandoning ship

Rush Limbaugh explains why Trump backers in government abandoning ship

'I know how they think, and I know how they roll'

Returning to the microphone after a difficult two weeks of treatment for terminal cancer, Rush Limbaugh weighed in Thursday on the turmoil at the U.S. Capitol, beginning his show by addressing why so many lawmakers and people in the administration are abandoning President Trump.

He noted former Attorney General William Barr declared Trump betrayed the presidency by inciting a mob, and onetime ally Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. said the president's legacy has been "tarnished," telling colleagues on the Senate floor: "Count me out. Enough is enough. I've tried to be helpful."

"If you want to live in the political, elected class in Washington," Limbaugh said, "you have to say [Trump betrayed the presidency], you have to say it. There’s no alternative for you."

He said most lawmakers are "backing down," with some exceptions, such as Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., and Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., who exercised their constitutional right to object to electoral votes due to evidence of irregularities and fraud.

Limbaugh recalled making a prescient assessment of Trump's chief opponent just weeks before the 2016 election.

"The establishment, with everything they are invested in the establishment, remaining the establishment and in power, they are just not gonna sit back and trust this to your votes," he said Oct. 10, 2016. "They’re not gonna trust this to an election, to a campaign. Not gonna trust it at all."

Limbaugh said four years ago that establishment figures are going to do "everything they can to destroy whoever it is that wants to take control from them."

"And, in the process, they’re gonna destroy that person so as to send a message to the next guy, 'Don’t even think about it. Don’t even try. Look what we did to Donald Trump.' 'Look what we did to whoever,' is the message."

On his show Thursday, Limbaugh said he was able to say that three weeks before the 2016 election because he knows how people on the left think.

"I know what we're up against, I know who they are, and I know how they think, and I know how they roll," he said.

"The first chance you give them to eliminate you, they are going to take it."

Limbaugh played a clip from an interview Monday with Democratic Georgia Rep. Hank Johnson on Dean Obadal's Sirius radio show.

"It would be so detrimental to our party if the Biden administration would say, well, Trump did some bad things, but let’s look forward," the congressman said.

In other words, Limbaugh said, "they want a scalp."

"They want somebody buried. They want a coffin, folks. They want a political coffin," the radio host said.  "There's none of this Richard Nixon stuff, let’s put him on Air Force One, send him out to San Luis Obispo, San Clemente or whatever. There’s none of this George W. Bush send him down to Dallas and let’s just pretend it never happened. They want a political coffin."

Johnson said the interview Monday that Democrats must "make sure that those who come after Donald Trump know that they will not be allowed to get away with what Donald Trump did, that they will be held accountable."

"They will be treated, yes, like Negroes. They will be perp walked to the jail — hands handcuffed, not in front of them, but behind them — and they will be booked, fingerprinted, have to make bond, and have to hire a lawyer just like everybody else and go through the system," Johnson said. "If we allow him to get away with it, there will be others who try to do the same thing, and we don’t even want them to think about trying to do what Trump has done."

Limbaugh commented: "There you go. So three weeks before the election, I essentially predicted exactly what’s happened yesterday and today to Donald Trump, to you who voted for him."

The talk host then played Graham's comments Wednesday night on the Senate floor after debate resumed on the objection to the Arizona electoral votes.

"Trump and I (laughs), we've had a hell of a journey. I hate it being this way. Oh, my God, I hate it. From my point of view, he's been a consequential president. But today, first thing you’ll see, all I can say is, uh, 'Count me out. Enough is enough. I’ve tried to be helpful,'" said Graham.

Limbaugh said:  "There you have it. If you want a life in Washington, you have to say that. If you want a life in the political class — even as a loser Republican — you have to say that. That’s the reality of life on the ground in Washington today, and it will be the case tomorrow. I don’t know for how long it’s gonna be the case. But it is the immediate future; so get used to it."

He warned that the "voices of dissent will be silenced on Facebook and Twitter — including Donald Trump, including you."

Joe Biden faces backlash over pro-abortion pick for HHS Secy

OAN Newsroom

UPDATED 7:25 PM PT – Thursday, January 7, 2021

Joe Biden is facing pushback over his pick for Secretary of Health and Human Services.

On Monday, Biden announced his nomination of California Attorney General Xavier Becerra. However, critics are questioning the decision by citing Becerra’s lack of qualifications for the job.

Becerra, who previously served Congress, has no medical background or work experience with the HHS. He is also pro-abortion.

In 2017, Becerra filed criminal charges against a pro-life activist who uncovered Planned Parenthood’s involvement in selling aborted fetuses to biotech companies. Some Republican lawmakers said they will not vote to confirm Becerra and are urging others to do the same.

It Was A Trap..

It Was A Trap, And MAGA Fell Into It

by Scott McKay • January 6, 2021

The pundit class is already hard at work concocting lectures with which to harangue the lumpen MAGA proletariat about Wednesday’s events at the Capitol. I have no particular interest in scolding the tens or even hundreds of thousands of Trump supporters and patriots who were there in an effort to make their voices heard about the stolen 2020 election. The vast majority didn’t storm the building, committed no crime, and had every right to be there.

And most of the howling I see is really just sanctimony. Either that or it’s invective by people who were unrepentant or latent NeverTrumpers desperate for a free shot at the MAGA crowd.

My critique of the debacle at the Capitol is practical, not moral. If I thought there was political value in outright sacking the place I might be torn about it. This space has, after all, argued that a stolen election breaks the republic and anything goes in the post-republic.

But the goal isn’t to win the post-republic. Not yet. The goal is to preserve and restore the republic. And what happened on Capitol Hill doesn’t serve that goal at all.

As the Romans used to say, cui bono? Who benefits?

A huge swath of the country was glued to the television to watch the evidence of the stolen election finally getting litigated, a full adversarial debate which has been denied the country for nine weeks since Joe Biden’s magical victory. There were shining moments. Ted Cruz had one. Steve Scalise had one. Jim Jordan had one. There were others. Republican House members and Senators were making a better case than the President and his team for refusing to certify the electors. Was it going to result in anything substantial? No, probably not, but let’s face it – by the time this process arrived on Capitol Hill, Team Trump was already out of gas.

The wider goal, that of preserving the republic, was still very much intact. The irregularities in processing the election, which are still very much in place as the twin Georgia debacles Tuesday night showed, must be remedied with legislation before the next cycle comes around, or else American elections cannot recover the legitimacy stolen by the Democrat Party in November.

That’s more important than Donald Trump’s second term, as crucial as Trump’s second term would be. Recovering our election integrity is the very preservation of the republic, and it starts with the case Republicans on Capitol Hill were making that, whether you’re convinced the election was stolen or not, it’s quite obvious that elections laws were broken in all of the “battleground” states in question. The GOP was winning that debate, whether it would save Trump or not, and there was an opportunity to build a public consensus for fixing the broken elections and recovering the republic.

And then all of a sudden the whole thing ground to a halt. Everybody knows what happened next. And though our legacy corporate media seems a bit reticent to mention it, a woman named Ashli Babbit, a mother and a 14-year Air Force veteran, was shot in the neck and killed by a Capitol Police officer in a case one could argue was a whole lot more egregious than what happened to Breanna Taylor or George Floyd.

Photos of the initial invaders of the Capitol show some people who, to put it mildly, didn’t look like your usual MAGA crowd. One guy, bare-chested with tattoos everywhere and an Viking headdress on, was pointed out by internet sleuths as resembling an Antifa protester from Arizona. Another appeared to have a hammer and sickle tattoo on his left hand. This gave rise to a theory that the storming of the Capitol was a classic agent provocateur move, something Antifa members repeatedly perpetrated last year in turning Black Lives Matter protests into riots.

You’d hope the MAGA crowd would be less susceptible to such incitements, but any demonstration containing lots of people with their blood up is very vulnerable to turning into a riot in the hands of the wrong agitators.

Kurt Schlichter, whose excellent column at Townhall.com is required reading, has written a series of novels based around an America which splits into red states and blue states. The latest one, Crisis, is actually the prequel to the series, and it contains a scene eerily similar to the one which took place Wednesday – a huge conservative protest in DC which turns violent, people get shot and the Right is blamed. Schlichter has a leftist revolutionary staging the violence for that very purpose. It’s hard not to see the scene as prophetic after Wednesday.

Whether somebody co-opted the protest or not, it’s awfully suspicious that such a thin line of security existed between Congress and the crowd. January 6th had been circled on the calendar for weeks as the date of a vigorous conservative protest in Washington; how the Capitol wasn’t a fortress with several lines of defense as it has repeatedly been for previous mass protests is more than a little peculiar.

Again, cui bono?

The protesters breached the Capitol and shut down a debate Republicans were winning just before the whole country got to see not just evidence of voter fraud but more importantly, evidence of lawbreaking by elections officials. While the fraud is important, it’s the failure to follow elections law which constitutionally invalidates the certification of the electors, and it’s the failure to follow elections law which (1) can be remedied in the future and (2) if fixed, will eliminate the kind of fraud we all think cost Trump his re-election.

And that breach was far, far too easy.

It didn’t happen when Congress was passing Obamacare, which was a devastating blow to the republic. Why did it happen Wednesday?

I’ll say it: I think a trap was laid. I think the Democrat leadership wanted exactly what they got at the Capitol. I think the security was lax so that something disruptive would happen and the national discussion about election mismanagement and fraud being had in that building, which the Democrat Party is wholly responsible for necessitating, would be washed out of the public’s consciousness.

Even worse, that the discussion itself would be discredited.

And Trump and his supporters fell right into that trap.

Trump did himself no favors inviting that crowd to march on the Capitol. They were going to do it anyway. They all knew why they were there on that day. By making the invitation Trump owned everything that was going to happen, even if it was driven by Antifa agents provocateur.

Now, deservedly or not – I would say undeservedly, but it really doesn’t matter – the entire MAGA movement bears the stink of what happened at the Capitol.

That stink makes it harder to grow the movement. MAGA alone isn’t enough. It wasn’t enough to save Trump in November. It wasn’t even enough to stop the Democrats in Georgia on Tuesday. MAGA has to grow. It has to convert those squishy Republicans and independents out there to its cause, which is doable given what an unfettered Biden administration will do over the next two to four years; and it has to build on the inroads it has made in the black, Asian and Hispanic communities. It has to become a majority movement, and it has to ultimately even bring the NeverTrumpers into the fold – not by giving them control over the GOP again, but by convincing them to stop being enemies.

The case of Erick Erickson was at least a little instructive to illustrate how well things worked for the Left on Wednesday. The NeverTrumper pundit blasted out an email to his list begging for some sort of rapprochement between MAGA conservatives and the GOP’s moderate wing Wednesday morning. By Wednesday afternoon he was getting himself suspended from Twitter for repeatedly demanding that the Capitol Police shoot the protesters, which certainly doesn’t recommend Erickson as a voice of reason given Ashli Babbit’s fate.

You cannot understate how giddy the Left is after Wednesday.

And you cannot understate how much damage was done to the cause of saving the republic.

The post-republic beckons. We don’t want it. But it’s what we’re getting. Lord help us.

Last night CNN interviewed John Sullivan from Utah after the shooting death of Ashli Babbit by Capitol Hill police.

John Sullivan, a noted leftist leader from Utah, stormed the US Capitol with Trump supporters and others on Wednesday.

In August John Sullivan threatened to rip President Trump from the White House during violence in Washington DC. Sullivan was flown to DC for the protests.

Facial recognition firm claims Antifa infiltrated Trump protesters who stormed Capitol

Trump supporters say that Antifa members disguised as one of them infiltrated the protesters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday

A retired military officer told The Washington Times that the firm XRVision used its software to do facial recognition of protesters and matched two Philadelphia Antifa members to two men inside the Senate.

The source provided the photo match to The Times.

One has a tattoo that indicates he is a Stalinist sympathizer. Antifa promotes anarchy through violence and wants the end of America in favor of a Stalinist-state. “No more USA at all” is a protest chant.

XRVision also has identified another man who, while not known to have antics links, is someone who shows up at climate and Black Lives Matter protests in the West.

Before the Nov. 4 election, an Antifa chapter sent out on social media a reminder for members to disguise themselves as Trump supporters by wearing the distinctive red Make American Great Again (MAGA) hat.

“On Nov. 4 don’t forget to disguise yourselves as patriots/Trump supporters. Wear MAGA hats. USA flags. A convincing police uniform is even better. This way police and patriots responding to US won’t know who their enemies are and onlookers and the media will think there are Trump supporters rioting so it’s harder to turn popular opinion against us.”

The Cult of Saint Stacey

The Kooky Progressive Religion has canonized another
Democrat hack: Saint Stacey the Patron Saint of Voter Fraud.

In addition to a particularly vulgar victory lap, Democrats are giving prayers of thanks to Saint Stacey for helping them steal win yesterday’s run-off election in Georgia.

You’d be surprised to learn that it isn’t just slack-jawed members of the ResistanceLOL that belong to the Cult of Saint Stacey.

Among the devotees of this super-sized saint is Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

The Cult of Saint Stacey

I wish that was a Photoshop, but it’s not.

Gretchen professing her faith in the Cult of Saint Stacey certainly explains a lot about her job performance, doesn’t it?

I’m all for praying that COVID gets under control. But something tells me praying to the rotund Saint Stacey is probably not the best choice if you’re hoping to flatten the curve.

What is it with Democrats and their obsession with putting political hacks on prayer candles?

It not only makes a mockery of Christianity, it also confirms what I’ve been saying for years — these sad, lost people see “Progressivism” not as a political ideology but as a religious faith.

A religious faith complete believers and heretics.

A religious faith with its own canonized saints — like Saint Greta, Blessed Lady of the Climate, Saint Fauci, Patron Saint of Lockdowns, Saint Mueller, Patron Saint of Tick-Tick-Boom, and now Saint Stacey, Patron Saint of Voter Fraud.

At least now we know that when they accuse us Trump supporters of being a cult, it’s nothing more than a family-sized bucket of projection.

Where do we go from here?

Conservative Credit Card

Article by Andrea Widburg in The American Thinker

Where do we go from here?

Just because I understand what can lead to violence does not mean I condone violence. And just because I understand that Trump supporters feel that everyone has betrayed them (which is probably true, because that’s what politicians do) does not mean I think that’s a useful mental state moving forward. We must rebuild a strong, constitutional movement that can pick up the pieces when the left implodes. (And yes, I think it will implode.)

I’ll start with that last point, the one that promises that the left will not be able to maintain its power forever. Past leftist revolutionary movements have been coherent: The working class, the German people, or the peasants arrayed against the evil moneyed classes.

This revolution, however, has been led by the evil moneyed classes, almost all of whom, except for Oprah, are white. They’ve cobbled together a revolutionary army by gluing together disparate groups of people who feel victimized, not by money, but by their own very distinct outlier identities: blacks, homosexuals, transgenders, Hispanics, women, handicapped people, Muslims, and on and on, as they divide themselves into ever-smaller micro victim classes.

This army was fine when it was driven by the frenzy to displace Trump and gain power (although the Muslims and the leftist Jews never did make common cause). They’ve now attained the pinnacle. They control the federal government. Their problem is that they’ve never been coherent about anything but their unified hatred against Trump and Republicans.

With political power comes personal power and lots of money. I foresee the same diversity they’ve championed on the path upwards being their downfall as they fight over the spoils. Indeed, I think the Squad is already plotting to toss Pelosi overboard.

We can and should assist with this breakdown. For starters, if the Democrat party is going to live up to its ideals, every white person holding political power should step aside.

The fossils in Congress, the White House, and the corporate world did not earn that power. They got it by reason of their whiteness and their manipulating systemic racism for their benefit.

Bill Gates, Melinda Gates, Jeff Bezos, the Google guys, and all those others who used their white privilege to gain their wealth need to give up that money to those from whom they stole it. This is their time to live up to their ideals, especially now that all the people they victimized through the whiteness have the power to make this equity a reality.

But what about the rest of us? Yesterday, I talked about things that we can do as individuals to bring about change. Today, I want to talk about conservatives creating our own institutions. It’s through these institutions that we’ll be able to gain power in America – and do consider that America has something unique, which is 50 states that can be the greenhouses for liberty. Leftist states are horribly managed, and that will provide openings for solid, reputable, reliable liberty-based institutions.

In years past, we’ve all talked about conservative institutions, but we were (lots of friends and followers) and all the world’s content is on YouTube. We chose the easy paths.

Now, though, the easy paths are being closed to us. They are silencing everything. Even credit card companies are saying that we cannot use them to buy guns – a constitutionally protected inherent right. Maybe this will finally rouse us to put our energy into national organizations that support us, from political institutions, to manufacturers, to our own banking system.

Trump, who will have a target on his back if he remains in America, might want to decamp to some lovely tropical island and, once there, start a major media empire. I’ve been trying for years (to no effect) to encourage wealthy conservatives to fund comprehensive media outlets that don’t just have talk radio, but that have entertainment too – entertainment that subtly drives home points about liberty, equality, hard work, and the Constitution.

Open warfare is the answer only if you’re comfortable with ending up like Syria in a matter of months. It’s not just a last resort, it’s a last, last, last, and then still more last resort. The answer now is to mirror 60 years of slow but inexorable leftist incursions in America and change it around with many years (yes, it’s a long process) of inexorable constitutional incursions.

Georgia Run-Off Marred By Election Irregularities

Georgia election officials insist that the voting went smoothly on Tuesday, but reports of election irregularities emerged throughout the day, prompting suspicion among many Republicans that the election was rigged.

Radio talk show host John Fredricks said he received calls from Georgia voters saying that the Dominion machines in three of the state’s largest Republican precincts went down at 10:00 a.m.

The voters said poll workers told them they would scan their votes when the problems were fixed.

“Reports are coming out of the 12th Congressional District of Georgia that Dominion Machines are not working in certain Republican Strongholds for over an hour,” President Trump said in a tweet at 12:18 p.m. “Ballots are being left in lock boxes, hopefully they count them.”

At 12:40, Gabriel Sterling, the state’s voting system implementation manager, tweeted back at the president, telling him that the issues were “resolved hours ago,” and that the secretary of state’s office was keeping the public informed in “real time.”

“The votes of everyone will be protected and counted,” Sterling tweeted in response to Trump’s claims. “Sorry you received old intel Mr. President,” Sterling said.

Sterling didn’t explain why the issues only occurred in Republican-leaning districts.

As on Election Day 2020, voters in counties throughout Georgia were told that they already voted and would have to vote provisionally.

Credentialed Republican poll observers in Fulton County were  blocked by barriers and had to obtain a court order from a Fulton County Superior Court Judge to obtain permission to monitor poll workers processing absentee ballots and verifying signatures.

Reportedly, individuals at the World Congress Center were scanning and adjudicating ballots by themselves without Republican oversight.

The judge ordered elections officials to allow poll monitors to be at least 10 feet away from the processing tables, inside the steel barriers.

However Fulton County elections officials are still blocking credentialed monitors from overseeing absentee ballots and verifying signatures despite the court order.

Tuesday night, while votes were being counted, viewers watched in horror, as thousands of votes disappeared for Republican Sen. David Perdue on live television.

President Trump complained on Twitter Wednesday morning that “our election process is worse than that of third world countries!”

Perhaps what happened yesterday wasn’t so surprising

Article by Andrea Widburg in The American Thinker

Perhaps what happened yesterday wasn’t so surprising

I feel that I ought to have some wisdom to impart about events in D.C. on Wednesday, but I don’t.  Obviously, storming the Capitol was criminal and the mob that did so must be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

I’m inundated with information, some good, some not so good, and am trying hard to separate wheat from chaff. However, based on what I know from the past four years and what I’ve learned about today from what I believe is reliable information, I can come up with a few conclusions.

I know that, for four years, the left has never stopped doing everything in its power to destroy a duly elected president. It’s battled him on the streets, on the media, in schools, colleges, and universities, and in Congress. Its rage and disdain have been open and aggressive.

The media have never spoken an honest word about Trump and have used their 24-hour platform to slander him and everything he’s done, while at the same time attacking those who support him. Congress repeatedly tried to impeach him (it’s still trying), including the risible attempt over the Ukraine phone call. Academia has used cancel culture to silence any opposition.

Things escalated in 2020. The left latched onto the Wuhan virus as a way to destroy all anti-fraud protections regarding voting and, as a nice byproduct, to enrich its supporters and economically destroy Trump supporters. At the same time, in a year that started with Pelosi ostentatiously and literally ripping the President Trump’s speech, the left has condoned extraordinary violence.

Its prosecutors have stopped enforcing laws, its governing bodies have stripped police of their power, and the establishment as a whole cheered on BLM and Antifa violence. As cities burned and people died, leftists assured us that protest was mean to be violent and uncomfortable. At the same time, they had as their mantra the claim that burning cities, looted stores, and sustained, destructive Antifa attacks against the government infrastructure in Portland and Seattle were “mostly peaceful” or just the manifestation of “an idea.”

Trump supporters sucked up all the attacks and all the pain. They just kept looking to the election for salvation.

Sure, they noticed that Biden wasn’t even bothering to campaign, but they thought that meant he’d lose, not that their guy, who was regularly drawing in tens of thousands of people at his rallies was going to lose. They worried about “fraud for the asking” mail-in voting but thought that, if they turned up on election day in the millions, that would do the trick. And they trusted their local governments to keep the elections honest. They also knew that every single indicator promised a Trump victory.

But there was no Trump victory. Instead, there were observers blocked from observing voting and vote counts. There were states that, for the first time in history, as Trump was massively ahead, simultaneously shut down counting for hours. There were bizarre numbers that, instead of accreting, as votes must, marched backward for Trump or magically transferred themselves to Biden. Even without all the other claims of fraud, this was going to make people suspicious.

But when people wanted answers, the entire Establishment said, “Shut up! You’re stupid. Everyone hates Trump. You’re paranoid. All of this is perfectly normal.” And then this same establishment wonders why half of America’s citizens, all of whom have tried to use the normal channels (courts, the media, their politicians) to get information to assuage their concerns, are getting angry.

Tucker Carlson articulated this problem extremely well in his Wednesday monologue. I wish I didn’t have to use YouTube for you to see it, but that’s what I’ve got

It’s not a representative democracy if people are not heard. And when people cannot get information to which they are legitimately entitled in a free society by asking politely, they will get less polite. I desperately want America’s current impasse to get resolved peacefully, but I fear that won’t happen if our political and media class continue to say “Shut up. You’re stupid (and racist, sexist, homophobic, and inherently evil).”
