Trump pardons Michael Flynn

Trump pardons Michael Flynn

'I know you will now have a truly fantastic Thanksgiving!'

Amid a federal judge's continued refusal to rule on the Justice Department's motion to dismiss the case against Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, President Trump announced Wednesday he has pardoned his onetime national security adviser.

Flynn pleaded guilty in 2017 to making false statements to FBI agents in a case related to Robert Mueller's special counsel Russia probe. But after retaining attorney Sidney Powell, Flynn filed a motion to withdraw the plea, presenting evidence he was "ambushed" by agents after the bureau concluded it didn't have a case.

"It is my Great Honor to announce that General Michael T. Flynn has been granted a Full Pardon," Trump wrote Wednesday on Twitter. "Congratulations to @GenFlynn and his wonderful family, I know you will now have a truly fantastic Thanksgiving!"

CNBC reported that less than two hours before Trump's announcement, Flynn tweeted a Bible verse in the King James version, which read, "And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee."

An investigation by a U.S. attorney found no foundation for the interview in which Flynn was accused of lying. The FBI already had a transcript of the telephone call at the center of the case, with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, meaning any false statements were immaterial. Unsealed evidence shows the FBI was prepared to drop the case for lack of evidence. But fired lead investigator Peter Strzok pressed ahead and set up the "ambush" interview at the White House. A memo shows FBI agents plotted before the interview to get Flynn to lie so he could be fired.

Powell, who is litigating challenges to the 2020 presidential election, said she had asked Trump not to issue a pardon to Flynn as she continued efforts to have his case dismissed.

She told CNBC in a statement Wednesday that the "pardon of Michael Flynn is solely up to the President, but given the corruption we have witnessed in the judiciary and multiple agencies of government executed against General Flynn, this persecution should end."

"The FBI and [Department of Justice] have been a national embarrassment for more than 15 years," Powell said.

Powell said it was her "fervent hope to make our judicial system work to exonerate an innocent man -- as all the Left would want were he anyone but Trump or Michael Flynn, but enough is enough."

"This is sick. It’s painfully obvious Judge Sullivan is playing an evil political game with a good man's life and family," she said.

In an interview Wednesday afternoon with Fox Business host Lou Dobbs, Powell said the Flynn case is "one of the most egregious injustices I've witnessed in American history."

She said the pardon is "bittersweet," because "if the justice system had worked properly, we would not to have had to have gotten this pardon."

See the interview with Sidney Powell:

The Justice Department filed a motion earlier this year to dismiss the case, but the judge, Emmet Sullivan, refused to sign off. Instead, he appointed an outside lawyer to provide him with arguments to counter the Justice Department's motion.

Flynn appealed Sullivan's moves to a three-judge panel in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, which agreed that the case should be dismissed.

Sullivan, however, then asked for a ruling from the full court, which reversed the decision and sent the case back to the trial judge.

Schiff condemns 'abuse of power'

Democratic members of Congress who pushed the bogus claims of Trump-Russia collusion that spawned the Flynn investigation condemned Trump's pardon Wednesday.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff of California -- who claimed for two years he had secret evidence of collusion -- charged that Trump "has repeatedly abused the pardon power to reward friends and protect those who covered up for him."

"This time he pardons Michael Flynn, who lied to hide his dealings with the Russians. Its no surprise that Trump would go out as he came in — Crooked to the end," he wrote on Twitter.

Schiff led the House investigation of Trump's phone call with Ukraine's president that led to a partisan impeachment and acquittal in the Republican-controlled Senate.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., who led the House managers in the impeachment trial, said the pardon "is undeserved, unprincipled, and one more stain on President Trump's rapidly diminishing legacy.”

Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., called Flynn and the president criminals.

Mueller, after nearly two years, having employed Strzok and other fiercely anti-Trump partisans, declared there was insufficient evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.

Democrats used a salacious anti-Trump dossier that was commissioned by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee to further their case, even though it was unverified, a Justice Department inspector general found. The debunked document, he concluded, was the primary evidence submitted by the Obama DOJ and FBI to spy on the Trump campaign.

An American Moses

The true tragedy of the story of Trump is that he may not see the fulfillment of what he started.
But he showed us the way to a better place, and nothing can take that away from him.

Donald Trump is a hero. That’s an objective statement of fact that no fake news outlet or phony fact-check can change.

The only question remaining, then, is: Will Donald Trump be remembered as a triumphant hero, or a tragic hero?

Nothing Is Over

Just as with 2016, the movie-like narrative of the 2020 election was building up to be yet another truly glorious comeback victory from the greatest political underdog in modern history, Donald J. Trump. He was actively fighting against Big Tech, the polls, Hollywood, academia, the media, Wall Street, the Democratic Party, establishment Republicans, the international community, violent anarchist mobs, a Chinese plague, and the deep state—virtually the same rogues gallery he was up against in 2016, with a few new additions and even higher stakes.

By midnight of November 3, he was speeding towards a stunning landslide reelection victory. He had effortlessly taken Florida by the biggest margin for any presidential candidate in 16 years. He had won Ohio by a slightly higher margin than in 2016, which itself was the biggest margin of victory in that state for any candidate since 1988. Turnout from the rural, working-class areas he needed to win was at historic levels, and he had insurmountable leads in the three crucial Rust Belt states. He was winning, and winning big.

The sudden, and nearly simultaneous, stopping of the counts in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Georgia somewhere between midnight and 1 a.m., followed by the abrupt restart and announcement of new leads for Joe Biden in all of those states at around 4 a.m. the following day, are at the heart of the very legitimate and credible claims of voter fraud by President Trump and his supporters.

There is a path for victory for the president, both legal and political, despite the media’s best efforts to pull a “nothing to see here” routine as they rush to declare the race over in favor of Biden, insisting that there is no voter fraud despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

What Comes Next

It has been said before, and needs to be said again: At this point, it is far too late for our Republic as once we knew it.

No matter what happens, no matter whose hand rests on the Bible on January 20, 2021, to take the oath of office, half of the country will deem that president’s term to be illegitimate. Half the country will claim that the election was stolen, either by voter fraud or by voter suppression. Half the country will spend the next four years demonstrating in the streets, whether it be militant communists and frothing black nationalists determined to destroy the country, or furious patriots trying to save it.

To that extent, a second Trump term may matter just as little as a Biden presidency, even if a Biden Administration is as short-lived as some predict it will be in favor of a Kamala Harris presidency. If President Trump does indeed serve a second term, a betting man would be wise to put his money on the likelihood of a second impeachment, for starters.

Should Trump prevail in this election, the media, globalist leaders, the Democrats, and Big Tech most likely will be reading the same four-letter word from the same script: coup. With this one word, often used by Trump supporters (accurately) to describe the deep state’s efforts to sink his presidency with the “Russian collusion” hoax, the Left will begin explicitly making the argument that President Trump is an usurper and a dictator who should not be in office.

What Was Achieved

At this point, the evidence seems to suggest overwhelmingly that whatever victory Trump may be able to pull off will be a bittersweet one, with the president and the nation robbed of the landslide triumph toward which he was heading, and any second term will be marred by even more obstructionism in the halls of Congress and targeted violence in the streets.

But there is still a victory to be achieved here, and it is not the possibility of earning a second term in the face of insurmountable odds, as satisfying as that would be. Indeed, it is true poetic justice that this election fiasco in and of itself, chaos and all, could be a victory for Donald Trump.

Ben Weingarten made a good case at The American Mind, pointing out that President Trump’s greatest achievement was not the monumental tax cuts, the renegotiated trade deals, crushing ISIS, or building the wall; his greatest achievement was exposing the sheer corruption, unholy levels of power, and vicious contempt of the ruling class in our country. It was evident in every single thing they did to try to destroy him over the last five years, with their determination matched only by President Trump’s willpower, fueled by his love of country and determination to save it from the forces that were out to destroy him.

Adding to that, it must be said that nothing has exposed their corruption more than this debacle of an election. Now, at least 74 million Americans are well aware of the fact that the elite will even undermine our own electoral processes from within just to get their way, the will of the people be damned.

The true kicker, however, is not the revelation that they have done this—as cheating surely has been part of our electoral politics throughout our history. It’s that Donald Trump was the one who exposed it by finally fighting back, whereas all other Republicans instinctively would have recoiled in fear. That is why his efforts to fight back now, even if they are ultimately for naught, will still leave behind a legacy that will last far beyond the next four years.

The Promised Land

Indeed, many of his most recent achievements surely will be swept under the rug, undermined, or retroactively stolen from him by being blindly credited to Biden. But there is no denying that he leaves behind a framework for a stronger country in every way possible.

He saved the economy, not once, but twice; he ultimately defeated the Chinese virus, giving us a vaccine in the final months of his first term; he restored American strength around the globe, through more calculated but restrained uses of our military as well as a tougher approach to trade. And he leaves behind a clear blueprint for how an unapologetically nationalist and populist message can, barring mass voter fraud, win electoral landslides and create previously unprecedented political coalitions, even against overwhelming opposition from the elite.

As such, it is clear that Donald Trump has already secured his place in history as a tragic hero. Like Moses, he did what everyone else previously thought to be impossible and led his people out of systematic oppression, with chains, whips, and slavery being replaced by indoctrination, lies, and blind obedience to an elite that never had our best interests at heart.

He exposed the media. He exposed the leadership of both political parties. He exposed Hollywood, academia, Big Tech, and the globalists who are in charge of nations that we previously thought to be our closest allies. He awakened millions to the realities of the culture war that was already raging against us, and the scourge of mass immigration. He drew back the curtain, pulled the wool from our eyes, and led us out of the cave so that we would no longer stare endlessly at the illusions of the shadows on the wall.

But for all his great deeds, Moses never did live to see his people enter the promised land. He could, however, pass on in peace knowing they would get there one day. So too, it appears, shall it be the case for President Trump. The true tragedy of the story of Donald Trump is that he may not see the fulfillment of what he started. But he showed us the way to a better place, and nothing can take that away from him.

Computer Repairman Who Threatened Biden's Electoral Prospects Goes Into Hiding

Computer Repairman Who Threatened Biden's Electoral Prospects Goes Into Hiding

The only person who burns for revenge more than a Democrat who just lost is a Democrat who just won. The Dems are getting what they want, a Trump-free White House, and it makes them furious. Now they’re publicly yearning for vengeance against the computer repairman who almost cost them their victory. And he did so by telling the truth, which they hate like poison.

Just weeks before the election, the owner of a computer repair shop near Joe Biden’s home claimed to have a laptop full of incriminating evidence that Hunter Biden had abandoned 18 months ago. The New York Post broke the story, which set off such a panic that Twitter suspended the centuries-old newspaper and blocked all links to the story. Of course, this triggered the Streisand Effect, bringing even more attention to a story they were trying to suppress.

As I noted last month, there seem to be two prevailing theories about this story:

Theory 1: Hunter Biden, a known drug abuser, was visiting his father in Wilmington in April 2019 and abandoned one of his laptops at a nearby repair shop.

Theory 2: Putin did it.

The first theory is the one with all the evidence behind it, so of course liberals dismiss it outright. They’re rubes, so they believed the same excuse the Democrats have been using nonstop for the past four years: Russia. Somehow, Russia infiltrated the Wilmington computer-repair community decades ago, just waiting for the opportunity to fake a bunch of evidence against the Biden family. Just like that show The Americans! It couldn’t just be that an admitted crackhead screwed up. There must be some sort of conspiracy.

That’s why they’re all crowing about this latest bit of news. Karl Baker, Delaware News Journal:

The computer repair store at the center of a scandal involving a laptop allegedly belonging to Hunter Biden that contained “smoking-gun” emails about the Biden family’s foreign dealings has closed.

A neighbor said the owner skipped town, according to the Delaware News Journal. The outlet also reported that 10 days after the election, a sign appeared on the store’s door to say that the shop had closed…

An attorney for John Paul Mac Isaac, who owned the Delaware repair shop, said that Mac Isaac closed the shop because he had received death threats. The attorney, Brian Della Rocca, did not say where his client has gone or if he left town at all.

So, congratulations to the Biden family. You got what you wanted, and in the process you managed to ruin a small business owner who exposed your corruption. He’s now in hiding, and your voters are cheering on the destruction of his business and his life. If he wanted to run a business in the United States of America, he shouldn’t have caused problems for the Democratic Party.

And somehow, libs think this proves it’s all fake. They drove this guy into hiding, and to them it’s just further proof that their conspiracy theory was right all along.

But then, they’re stupid and insane, which is why they’re so happy Biden won.

The laptop is real, and it’s a threat to Joe Biden. That’s why the media blacked out the story long enough to get him elected, and why they’re pretending it doesn’t matter now. After all, they got the power they crave, didn’t they?

First they tried to destroy Joe the Plumber. Now they’re trying to destroy John Paul the Computer Repairman. The Democrats care about working people, as long as they know their place.

By the way, where is Hunter? He showed up to hug his dad last week, and then he disappeared again. Guess it doesn’t matter. Finding out where he is and what he thinks about all this would be journalism, and for the next four years that’s the last thing journalists want.

Why Our Military Is Only Marginally Able to Defend Our National Interests

Article by J. William Middendorf in The Daily Signal

Why Our Military Is Only Marginally Able to Defend Our National Interests

The future of the United States depends on our ability to meet the military challenges coming from China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran in this turbulent 21st century.

According to The Heritage Foundation’s recently published 2021 Index of U.S. Military Strength, the U.S. military is only marginally able to meet the demands of defending America’s vital national interests.

The index is an authoritative and comprehensive assessment of America’s military power, the operating environments around the world relevant to America’s vital national interests, and the threats posed to the United States by our adversaries.

The Navy is rated as “marginal,” but is trending toward a “weak” rating because the Navy needs 400 ships to meet demand and currently has a fleet of 300 aging ships and overstretched shipyards inadequate to defend the nation’s interests.

The Marine Corps also received a “marginal” rating in the 2021 index, an improvement from its 2020 index rating of “weak.” However, the higher rating was achieved not because of major systemic improvements, but because the index lowered the scoring criteria to account for the Marine Corps’ recent decision to focus its efforts on the Indo-Pacific region.

The Army represents a mixed bag, receiving an overall “marginal” rating, but a weak rating for “capacity,” because it can only field 35 of the 50 brigade combat teams necessary to defend American interests.

The Air Force’s capability score is rated as marginal because of a shortage of pilots to generate the amount and quality of combat air power needed to meet wartime requirements.

Conventional wisdom dictates fighter pilots should receive an average of three or more sorties a week and 200 hours of flight time per year to develop the skill sets needed to survive in combat.

Even with greatly improved maintenance, manning, and experience levels, average monthly sorties and flying hours have not reached those thresholds.

Since the inaugural 2015 Index of U.S. Military Strength, The Heritage Foundation has documented a number of shortfalls in U.S. military strength, only some of which have been corrected by the additional funding provided by the current administration.

The 2021 index makes clear that America’s military power is insufficient to defend America’s interests and partners in a conflict involving multiple fronts around the globe.

Retired Lt. Gen. Thomas Spoehr, director of Heritage’s Center for National Defense, and retired Lt. Col. Dakota Wood, a Heritage senior research fellow, released the following statement in light of the 2021 index’s findings:

While our adversaries have spent the past two decades investing in their forces and taking advantage of rapidly advancing technologies, America has been forced to choose between solving a future crippling readiness crisis and investing in modernizing the force to compete. We can no longer settle for one of the other. We must do both.

China continues to modernize and expand its space, cyber, and artificial intelligence capabilities. Chinese shipbuilders have produced more than 100 warships in the past decade, a build rate easily outstripping that of the U.S. Navy. Beijing’s naval modernization effort encompasses a wide array of platform and weapons acquisition programs, including anti-ship ballistic missiles, anti-ship cruise missiles, submarines, surface ships, aircraft, and unmanned vehicles.

Russia has violated the borders of nearby nations while it expands its nuclear arsenal and submarine force. It continues to prioritize the rebuilding of its military and funding for military operations abroad.

Russia uses its energy position in Europe, along with espionage, cyberattacks, and information warfare to exploit vulnerabilities, and seeks to drive wedges into NATO.

Russia has patched up differences with China, and now the two burgeoning naval powers are holding joint fleet exercises in the Baltic Sea.

The international community has long tried and failed to moderate North Korean behavior and bring about political and economic reform by offering concessions to Pyongyang. With its active and growing ballistic missile capabilities, North Korea poses definite threats to the United States, in addition to contributing to the general threat of war in Asia.

Iran represents by far the most significant security challenge to the United States, its allies, and its interests in the greater Middle East.

Tehran’s open hostility to the United States and Israel, and its sponsorship of terrorist groups such as Hezbollah pose the greatest threat to U.S. citizens at home and abroad.

Iran remains a major threat to Saudi Arabia and other members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, including Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. It also threatens to close the Strait of Hormuz, the jugular vein through which most Gulf oil exports flow to Asia and Europe.

Tehran boasts an arsenal of Iranian-built missiles based on Russian and Chinese designs that pose significant threats to oil tankers as well as to warships.

With a prospective Biden administration’s expected emphasis on social programs over defense spending, the greatest concern may be the slowing down or the cancellation of what has been the emphasis in increasing the Navy’s submarine fleet to meet current threats and fulfill major national security strategies.

Some $9 billion in appropriations were recently approved for building the first two ships in the new Columbia-class ballistic missile submarines. Current plans call for 12 of those submarines to replace the 16 Ohio-class submarines, some of them now well over their planned life spans.

Still packing 70% of the U.S. nuclear retaliatory capability, the Columbias will be far stealthier and electronically superior to the Ohios. But already there have been calls in Congress to reduce the new class to as few as six to eight ships. Any reduction would be a mistake with potentially catastrophic consequences.

As to the Navy’s fast-attack submarine force, there are now 40 deployable boats of the older Los Angeles and newer Virginia classes, far fewer than the number needed. There is a proven need for at least 60, and estimates are that essential missions would require at least 100.

As the Los Angeles-class submarines retire, some of them well beyond their planned life spans, a build rate of two Virginia submarines a year is in place. Canceling one a year would “free up” $3 billion, but it would be a major blunder.

With the Navy’s carriers kept 1,200 miles off mainland China by the combination of the short range of carrier airwings and China’s long-range anti-ship missiles, attack submarines may be the only practical way of threatening targets on the Chinese mainland. But currently only two or three would be available.

Others are urgently needed for tracking Russian ICBM subs, carrying out missions in the Middle East, and escorting carrier battle groups.

“We hope this report card on the U.S. armed forces helps decision-makers to be better informed and helps citizens to hold their elected representatives accountable for providing adequately for our nation’s defense,” Heritage Foundation President Kay C. James said when releasing the report, adding:

We can all play our part in ensuring that America’s founding promises of peace, prosperity, and freedom remain promises kept—both for this generation and for generations of Americans yet to come.

Booker Introduces Bill to Transfer Land to Black Farmers

Article by Surya Gowda in Newsmax

Booker Introduces Bill to Transfer Land to Black Farmers

Three Democrat senators have introduced a bill that would reform the U.S. Department of Agriculture and create a system of land grants to transfer millions of acres to Black farmers at no charge.

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., the lead sponsor of the bill, tweeted Tuesday, "I'm proud to team up with @ewarren and @SenGillibrand to introduce the Justice for Black Farmers Act. We need to balance the scales after decades of systemic racism within @USDA have harmed Black farmers."

The bill was announced on Nov. 19 by Booker, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., and is set to be released on Nov. 30.

Booker told Mother Jones the bill aims to reverse the "destructive forces that were unleashed upon Black farmers over the past century — one of the dark corners of shame in American history." A new USDA agency called the Equitable Land Access Service would buy agricultural land from willing sellers and "convey grants of that land to eligible Black individuals at no cost to the eligible Black individuals," the bill states.

Through the race-based land transfer program, up to 32 million acres of land would be under Black ownership in a decade, which is seven times the amount currently in Black-owned farms, according to Agriculture.com.

The fund devotes $8 billion annually to the project and aims to make 20,000 grants each year of up to 160 acres through 2030.

What will it take for Americans to push back?

Article by Andrea Widburg in the The American Thinker

What will it take for Americans to push back?

Every time I read about some arbitrary,  heavy-handed rule from one of America’s Democrat governors, I think, “This is it, this is the time that Americans are going to rise up en masse, hollering, ‘We’re mad as hell, and we’re not going to take it anymore.” And then they don’t. Instead, there are individual heroes, such as a gym owner in New York, a hairstylist in Texas, or a restaurant owner in Maine. Maybe Americans need a little financial insurance for fighting back.

While we are having a second wave of the Wuhan virus across America, we’re not having a second wave of mass die-offs. This is due to several things: More people are being diagnosed, we have better treatments, and we’re doing a better job of protecting the people who are vulnerable. In other words, we’re heading into a bad flu season, as opposed to the panic that gripped us in the spring when an unknown disease was killing the old and the sick.

We also know a few things we didn’t know before. Lockdowns do not correlate with lower rates of infection. Masks probably don’t correlate either, although vulnerable people might want their slight added protection. To be honest, masks might help if everyone wore an N95 mask. Instead, most don’t and many people wear masks slung under their noises.

We also know that the lockdowns have been a disaster at every level. While they’ve enriched the Democrats’ friends at Amazon, Microsoft, Walmart, etc., they’ve financially destroyed ordinary working- and middle-class Americans. Our children are being emotionally damaged and denied critical learning windows. You know the other statistics: Suicide up, drug abuse up, alcoholism up, child abuse up, spousal abuse up, crime up, obesity up.

And yet Democrat governors, drunk with power, keep squeezing the people in their states:

Pennsylvania’s Governor Wolf is telling people to wear masks in their own homes.

Michigan’s Governor Whitmer is shutting down colleges,  high schools, dining in restaurants and bars, and more.

California’s Governor Newsom banned indoor Thanksgiving dinners, limited the number of guests allowed in the garden, and says people should wear masks between bites. He then violated every one of those rules.

New York’s Governor Cuomo closed restaurants, gyms, and bars as often, and limited to 10 the number of people allowed at private residences. He then announced his family was coming for Thanksgiving, only to back off when shamed.

Oregon’s Governor Kate Brown shut everything down for two weeks and banned gatherings in private homes. She also told people to report on their neighbors who might be sneaking in an extra guest. In other words, Oregon welcomes the Stasi.

A few people are pushing back. We told you about the business owners in Buffalo who refused to allow sheriff’s deputies and a health inspector to shut them down. New York promptly imposed a $15,000 fine on Robby Dinero, who owns the gym at which the gathering took place. Dinero shredded it.

Early in the lockdown, Shelley Luther fought back against the lockdown. She was willing to go to jail to make the point that she should be allowed to keep open the business that kept her family and her employees’ families fed.

Tucker Carlson interviewed a restaurant owner from Maine who has been the subject of the governor’s unrelenting vendetta for refusing to shut down:

<iframe width="600" height="337" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Gq1sZ-A800M" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

So, to recap: a less virulent virus, useless lockdowns, mostly useless masks, utterly power-mad governors . . . and just a few people pushing back.

As long as the majority of Americans meekly go along with these meaningless totalitarian diktats, they’ll keep getting more of the same. Imagine, instead, what would happen if every business in California or Oregon or Maine opened for business as usual on the Monday after Thanksgiving. That would be civil disobedience on a scale the government cannot defeat.

I know what stops people. These lockdown rules operate against law-abiding citizens who have responsibilities. They cannot afford huge fines. It’s bad enough that their businesses are hanging on by a string.

So perhaps what we should do is exactly what the left did for the rioters, and looters, and sex offenders who ran riot during the Black Lives Matter uprisings: Set up bail and legal defense funds. If people don’t feel so economically vulnerable to the police state, maybe they’ll finally do what they need to do to stop the madness:

On Thanksgiving, Democrats Demand The Ultimate Family Separation Policy

Life is too short to live it in fear of dying.

More than eight months after “15 days to flatten the curve,” our so-called medical experts, politicos, and pundits are bidding us to avoid our family at all costs over the holidays, lest we die. This Thanksgiving week, family separation is the name of the game, with governors and local authorities implementing onerous restrictions to discourage people from leaving their homes.

“If you are planning to spend Thanksgiving with people outside your household, we urge you to reconsider,” wrote a group of governors in the pages of the Washington Post. These authors included little tyrants such as Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, whose lockdown orders arbitrarily outlawed the sale of gardening seeds while allowing patrons to purchase lottery tickets, Gov. Andy Beshear, who ordered that Kentucky police record church attendees’ license plate numbers at Easter services as “the only way we can ensure that your decision doesn’t kill someone else,” and Gov. J.B. Pritzker, whose family violated his own lockdown orders on more than one occasion to travel to their second home in Florida.

Instead, these hypocritical governors insist, “Get together with your family via Zoom to ensure your loved ones stay safe.” Nothing says grateful gathering like a conference call with your kin.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advise the same, qualifying Thanksgiving gatherings as “highest risk,” although the CDC’s own data suggests lockdowns could kill as many people as the Wuhan virus itself.

The media goes right along with all of it, instilling fear and shaming Americans who question them, while also violating health orders themselves and then lying about it. These media elites are already wishing us a very COVID Christmas too, with CNN’s Jake Tapper declaring, “Christmas is probably not going to be possible.”

‘Short-Term’ Is a Myth

“We must make short-term sacrifices for our long-term health,” the governors wrote trying to make their rhetoric more palatable in the Washington Post article. “None of us wants the guilt of gathering and unwittingly spreading this virus to someone we love.”

Nothing about these sacrifices has been “short-term,” however. The March days turned into the summer weeks, which have led to the winter months, which is turning into a full year and more — just gone. The fearmongering has guilted families into objectifying their loved ones, viewing them as threats, and now many of them are gone anyway — dying of cancer, dying of old age, and dying alone. We’ve turned fear into our friend and family into our foe. Is this really best “for our long-term health”?

“Think about your last Thanksgiving and the people you were surrounded by — your parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters, neighbors and friends, or the family you have chosen for yourself,” the group of governors urged. “Picture their faces — laughing with you, watching football with you or even arguing with you about politics. As hard as it will be to not see them this Thanksgiving, imagine how much harder it would be if their chairs are empty next year.”

COVID-19 Rhetoric Is Exhausting and Absurd

Americans are exhausted of the rhetoric and are weary of trying to discern the right thing in the highly politicized pandemic. Of course we don’t want to subject our friends and family to danger, and of course we don’t want their chairs to be empty next year — but we are rational actors. We know every single time we gather around the table, it could be the last, pandemic or not. What is “thanksgiving” if not gratitude for the gracious gifts we don’t deserve, including people, with whom our days are numbered? What an awful prospect to think of relinquishing our limited days with family as though time with them next year were a guarantee.

Should we put our trust in the advice of health experts and the elected that have been known to lie and cheat, and hold at arm’s length the people who most give us life lest they kill us? These “experts” are the same people who insist church is more dangerous than mass protests and rioting, and the same politicians who advise you to wear your mask between bites of food.

Is it so much more dangerous to gather with loved ones over a meal than to eat surrounded by strangers at a restaurant? What about our mental health? Is it wise to progress through the cold winter months, as seasonal depression sets in for many people, with a dismissive attitude toward those who should be under our care?

Joe Biden used the same “empty chair” rhetoric during the last presidential debate, warning that we’re headed into a “dark winter.” But are family separation policies and paralyzing fear of a virus really less dark than the possibility of physical death? Shouldn’t we be permitted to make these assessments and take these risks without condemnation? Eliminating all risk goes against all the things American, and shunning community weakens the bonds that make life worth living.

Gather This Thanksgiving

Life is too short to live it in fear of dying. Of course, we should not be reckless, but rather prudent and charitable so we truly can enjoy an abundant Advent season and gather once again next November with gratitude.

For at-risk family members, use this opportunity to find ways to serve them and to demonstrate your affection even though they might not be present at your table this year. Their need for caution doesn’t eradicate their need for community; don’t make yourself feel better by cutting them out of your life and telling yourself it’s for their safety.

For young, healthy family and friends — whose coronavirus recovery rate is north of 99.9 percent — gather, and give thanks. There’s simply no rational reason to isolate yourself.

One public health expert even advised The Federalist that Americans should “have a Thanksgiving or Christmas get-together with no restrictions, but if older people (60+) are going to be present alongside younger people (18-60), be sure to get rapid antigen tests for everyone — especially the young — before the event.” These are reasonable precautions.

The group of governors concluded, “We will get through this together.” But that isn’t true — and it isn’t what they want. This holiday season, they want you to get through it alone. Be smart, but don’t let the petty tyrants keep you away from your loved ones this holiday season. Cherish the time with them because it is fleeting.

Joe Biden’s plan to tax you $200 per ‘assault rifle’

It was loser Beto O’Rourke who said that, as president, damn right he was going to take your AR-15. Joe Biden later suggested that O’Rourke might serve as his gun czar. (Let’s hope all the principled conservatives who voted for Biden enjoy his assault on the Second Amendment.)

Biden has also suggested adding your “assault rifle” and high-capacity magazine to the National Firearms Act so that he can impose a $200 tax on guns and magazines you already own.

Got that right.

Fox News contributor Johnny “Joey” Jones says bring it on.

Now about those 2022 elections …
