John MacArthur's Calif. Church Will Defy Newsom's Church Ban: 'Christ, not Caesar, Is Head of the Church'

Article by Paula Bolyard for "PJMedia"

Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, Calif., announced on Friday that it would continue to hold in-person services despite a new edict by Gov. Gavin Newsom shuttering churches, restaurants, bars, fitness centers, hair salons, and barbershops in dozens of counties “indefinitely.”

“We cannot and will not acquiesce to a government-imposed moratorium on our weekly congregational worship or other regular corporate gatherings,” the church, led for the last half-century by Pastor John MacArthur, explained in a statement on its website. “Compliance would be disobedience to our Lord’s clear commands” to meet together for worship. “The church by definition is an assembly,” the pastors and elders of the church explained. “That is the literal meaning of the Greek word for ‘church’—ekklesia—the assembly of the called-out ones.” As a result, “no earthly state has a right to restrict, limit, or forbid the assembling of believers.”

“Therefore, in response to the recent state order requiring churches in California to limit or suspend all meetings indefinitely, we, the pastors and elders of Grace Community Church, respectfully inform our civic leaders that they have exceeded their legitimate jurisdiction, and faithfulness to Christ prohibits us from observing the restrictions they want to impose on our corporate worship services,” they wrote.

“History is full of painful reminders that government power is easily and frequently abused for evil purposes,” the church argued. “Politicians may manipulate statistics and the media can cover up or camouflage inconvenient truths. So a discerning church cannot passively or automatically comply if the government orders a shutdown of congregational meetings—even if the reason given is a concern for public health and safety.”

The church explained that there are three God-ordained spheres of authority—the church, the government, and the family—and the biblical framework “limits the authority of each institution to its specific jurisdiction.” As a result, “government officials have no right to interfere in ecclesiastical matters in a way that undermines or disregards the God-given authority of pastors and elders.”
Let This Sink In: Churches Are Shuttered Over COVID-19 Fears, But Violent Anarchists Are Allowed to Congregate with Impunity
The government, by banning worship services, has exceeded its authority, said GCC.

“When any one of the three institutions exceeds the bounds of its jurisdiction it is the duty of the other institutions to curtail that overreach,” GCC declared. “Therefore, when any government official issues orders regulating worship (such as bans on singing, caps on attendance, or prohibitions against gatherings and services), he steps outside the legitimate bounds of his God-ordained authority as a civic official and arrogates to himself authority that God expressly grants only to the Lord Jesus Christ as sovereign over His Kingdom, which is the church.”

“In short, as the church, we do not need the state’s permission to serve and worship our Lord as He has commanded,” they wrote. “Said another way, it has never been the prerogative of civil government to order, modify, forbid, or mandate worship. When, how, and how often the church worships is not subject to Caesar [the state]. Caesar himself is subject to God.”

The leadership team acknowledged that while Christians are commanded to honor earthly governors and magistrates, that mandate “does not include compliance when such officials attempt to subvert sound doctrine, corrupt biblical morality, exercise ecclesiastical authority, or supplant Christ as head of the church in any other way.”

When the pandemic first emerged, GCC initially agreed to follow the state’s edicts. Phil Johnson, executive director of the church’s radio ministry, warned a few weeks ago that the state might go too far. “How long until the government-ordered quarantine is undeniably excessive, or we conclude that it’s targeted persecution against our worship and therefore an illegal attempt to make us disobey Hebrews 10:25?” said Johnson. “That time may come, and when it does, we may have to implement the principle of Acts 5:29,” when Peter and the apostles declared, “We must obey God rather than men.”

“The question of whether we have already passed that point is another subjective issue,” he added.

“But now,” Johnson wrote on Friday, “I don’t see it as altogether ‘subjective.’ In our congregation, by every metric I can conceive of, the amount of hardship, suffering, death, and disaster inflicted by the quarantine far exceeds whatever grief has been caused by the virus. It is time—past time—to get the church back together.”
Virginia Pastors: Gov’t Is Pushing Christians to Choose Between Sinning against God or Violating the Law
The church’s statement pointed out that while the First Amendment expressly protects religious liberty, “The right we are appealing to was not created by the Constitution. It is one of those unalienable rights granted solely by God, who ordained human government and establishes both the extent and the limitations of the state’s authority (Romans 13:1–7).” Their argument, therefore, “is purposely not grounded in the First Amendment; it is based on the same biblical principles that the Amendment itself is founded upon. The exercise of true religion is a divine duty given to men and women created in God’s image (Genesis 1:26–27Acts 4:18–205:29; cf. Matthew 22:16–22). In other words, freedom of worship is a command of God, not a privilege granted by the state.”

A network of California churches sued Newsom last week, saying the governor’s restrictions violate their constitutional rights. Harvest Rock Church and Harvest International Ministry said in their complaint that Newsom is “imposing discriminatory and disparate prohibitions on the types of activities that Plaintiffs may engage in at their own church buildings.” Further, “while the Governor has unilaterally and significantly restricted the number of individuals permitted to ‘gather’ in Plaintiffs’ churches, he has imposed no similar restrictions on the untold thousands of protesters who have gathered all throughout California cities with no threat of criminal sanction, and no social distancing or restrictions whatsoever. And, the Governor explicitly encouraged such large gatherings of protesters while condemning churches for signing hymns in their churches.”

Several other churches throughout the state have vowed to continue holding in-person worship services despite the state ban on gatherings.

Newsom has not announced how the state will handle mass civil disobedience related to church closures. Grace Community Church alone has a reported weekly attendance of more than 8,000 on any given Sunday. Will Newsom send Health Department goons to arrest the 81-year-old MacArthur and perp-walk the pastor to make an example of him? I wouldn’t be surprised.

A week ago I would have said that challenges to these unconstitutional orders would be upheld as they worked their way through the court system. With Friday’s Supreme Court ruling that the state of Nevada was within its rights to keep casinos open but shutter churches, all bets (no pun intended) are off. One would have expected Chief Justice John Roberts, reportedly a devout Catholic, to be an unapologetic defender of the First Amendment, but he instead voted with the liberal wing of the court, declining to even explain his reasoning—perhaps because it’s indefensible—a cowardly move by any measure.

Christians have throughout history been persecuted for their faith. It was baked into the DNA of the church when Jesus warned that the world would hate them on account of their love for Him. “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you,” Jesus said, as recorded by his beloved friend John. “If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you.” He added that while Christians should expect tribulation, we are to “take heart” because He has “overcome the world.”

The United States throughout its history has been a haven for Christianity and we’ve been the beneficiaries of unprecedented religious liberty for 244 years. The window on those freedoms, I’m afraid, is quickly closing.

Calls Growing for Woke Big-Name Fashion Brands to Stop Profiting Off of Uighur Labor

Article by Rick Moran in "PJMedia"

Yesterday, my PJ Media colleague Tyler O’Neill presented a convincing case that the Chinese Communists are the closest analog to Hitler and the Nazis in the world today. Tyler’s thesis is that liberals are hysterical about Trump when they should be angry at Chinese Communist President Xi Jinping for being the true fascist dictator.

Tyler also highlighted the ghastly plight of the minority Uighurs in China, that the reds just can’t abide them because they worship Allah and not the Communist Party. But as the rest of the world has been dealing with the coronavirus pandemic these past few months, China has been busy eliminating the Uighur “threat” while, at the same time, enriching themselves and numerous Western corporations by putting the million or so Uighurs they’ve incarcerated to work growing and harvesting the cotton that goes into everything from Gap jeans to Adidas jerseys.

If that sounds like slave labor to you, you’re correct. And like Hitler and the Nazis, the corporations are either turning away from the atrocity or deliberately remaining ignorant about what’s happening.

But calls are growing among human rights groups and NGOs for these corporations to stop profiting from human misery and cut ties with the Communists.

Politico:

A coalition of labor unions and NGOs on Thursday urged clothing brands and retailers not to exploit labor from the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region in China.
The organizations called on brands to stop sourcing from the Xinjiang region within 12 months.
“The only way brands can ensure they are not profiting from the exploitation is by exiting the region and ending relationships with suppliers propping up this Chinese government system,” Jasmine O’Connor, head of Anti-Slavery International, said in a statement.

China is the world’s biggest supplier of cotton and 84 percent of that product comes from the Uighurs’ home region. One in five products made of cotton around the world is sourced to that region. No doubt cutting ties with the Communists will cost these corporations a lot of money, but the list of companies that use Chinese Communist cotton is full of some of the most “woke” corporations in America.

Business Insider:

They include Abercrombie & Fitch, Adidas, Amazon, Calvin Klein, Gap, H&M, Marks & Spencer, Nike, Patagonia, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria’s Secret, and Zara. The full list can be seen here.
“Virtually the entire apparel industry is tainted by forced Uyghur and Turkic Muslim labor,” the groups said, using an alternative spelling for Uighurs.

Recall when North Carolina banned boys from girls’ bathrooms and several corporations tried to punish the state by not moving headquarters there or refusing to hold concerts and major events.
Standing up for transgenders’ rights to pee wherever they wish is more important than profiting from forced labor?

Corporate hypocrisy has never been more evident. While supporting the radical militants of Black Lives Matter, and punishing employees who disagree with them, the atrocity of torturing and incarcerating people because of their religion is apparently just fine — as long as the money keeps rolling in.

Some of the listed corporations are claiming ignorance or saying they’ll get on it right away.

In a statement reported in The Guardian, PVH Corporation, the owner of Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, denied it sourced finished products from Xinjiang. PVH added that it would end all commercial links with factories and mills, or use cotton grown, in Xinjiang in the next year.
Ikea told The Independent [it] would stop sourcing cotton from Xinjiang.
H&M told The Guardian it had an indirect partnership with a yarn producer operating in Xinjiang, and that it is reviewing its work with it.

There are many unlovely things about China and this is just about the ugliest.

Peter Green: Fleetwood Mac co-founder dies aged 73

Fleetwood Mac co-founder and influential blues rock guitarist Peter Green has died aged 73.
Solicitors acting on behalf of his family said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Green announce his death this weekend, peacefully in his sleep.
"A further statement will be provided in the coming days."
Green, from Bethnal Green in east London, formed Fleetwood Mac with drummer Mick Fleetwood in 1967.

They formed the group after Green's stint in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, where he filled in for Eric Clapton.
Green and Fleetwood convinced John McVie to join the band as bass guitarist, in part by naming the band Fleetwood Mac.
Under Green's direction, they produced three albums and a series of well-loved tracks including Albatross, Black Magic Woman and Oh Well.
Green left the band after a last performance in 1970, as he struggled with his mental health. He was eventually diagnosed with schizophrenia and spent time in hospital in the mid-70s.

Singer-songwriter Green was among the eight members of the band - along with Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie, Christine McVie, Danny Kirwan and Jeremy Spencer - who were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
The news comes days after Fleetwood Mac announced they will release a retrospective boxset, documenting the band's early years between 1969 and 1974.
Paying tribute, Whitesnake's David Coverdale said Green was an artist he "truly loved and admired". In a tweet, he said: "I supported the original Fleetwood Mac at Redcar Jazz Club when I was in a local band... he was a breathtaking singer, guitarist and composer. I know who I will be listening to today. RIP"

In February this year, artists including Fleetwood, Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons and guitarists Jonny Lang and Andy Fairweather Low performed at the London Palladium in a gig celebrating the early years of Fleetwood Mac and its founder, Green.

The Five Burning Questions of This Election Season

The Democratic Party’s platform consists of the exploitation of public COVID-19 hysteria, the creation of lawless urban chaos, Marxist economic redistribution, and the embrace of unlimited illegal immigration.

The presidential election result is now down to five questions.
  • Can the president override the Democratic media’s thunderous campaign to terrorize the country over the coronavirus?
  • Can the president successfully connect Joe Biden’s campaign to the hooligans, anti-white racists, and urban guerrillas who effectively are being encouraged by the corrupt Democratic mayors of many of the nation’s largest cities?
  • Will the economic recovery and the decline in the unemployment generated by the COVID-19 shutdown continue at its recent pace and strengthen the economy as a pro-Trump electoral argument?
  • Will the Republicans make adequately clear to the country the authoritarian and Marxist implications of the Biden-Sanders unity document
  • Will special counsel John Durham indict senior members of the Obama Administration over their handling of the spurious allegation of collusion between Donald Trump and the Russian government in the 2016 election and Justice Department violations of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), and how will Biden himself come through it?

Apart from the Durham question, the president has it in his power to produce answers favorable to himself on the other four questions.

Trump’s Coronavirus Record

He has a very defensible record in his handling of COVID-19, was prescient in restricting direct air travel from China and Europe to the United States (which the Democrats opposed), and cooperated even with governors who had been extremely antagonistic prior to the pandemic. He sought and accepted the guidance of leading epidemiologists in taking drastic measures to “flatten the curve,” and he showed evident executive ability in quickly developing world-leading coronavirus testing capacity and supplying essential equipment throughout the country.

Trump has been represented as cavalier about the virus itself—a perception problem that has arisen due to his efficient response and move to reopen the economy more quickly than the Democrats, who had hoped that they could prolong the shutdown until the election in order to blame the president for the resulting economic depression.

The president effectively declared victory and sponsored a back-to-work movement and the Democrats have responded by using their iron-fisted control of the national political media to portray the president as cruel and incompetent, while they espouse a completely fatuous policy of indefinite lockdown, colossal emergency income substitution from the treasury, mass testing and tracing of everyone that has been in recent contact with those who test positive and badgering them to self-quarantine.

It is absurd. The president moved on Tuesday to counter this campaign in his first coronavirus press meeting for many weeks. He was businesslike and effective. What is needed is a full-scale public relations campaign including news film of the president at key distribution sites and medical centers. Excessive staging and histrionics must be avoided, and the reduction in fatality rates, improvement in techniques for protecting the immunity-challenged, and administration of therapeutics should all be emphasized—it being understood that 90 percent of the national political media will go to extraordinary lengths to deny the president credit for anything. At some point, there should be a backlash in the president’s favor to this heavy press bias.

Urban Violence

Urban violence, defunding police, and the balance between curbing police mistreatment of African Americans and doing everything reasonably responsible to discourage and punish crime, have now become a great chicken game.

The president has already begun to taint the Democratic Party by identification with notoriously corrupt and incompetent Democratic civic political machines. The Democrats have governed in Chicago for 89 years. Their ethics and competence have been in decline for decades and latterly in freefall, and the present mayor, Lori Lightfoot, is a racist and a seeming idiot. The Jussie Smollett case was a vivid depiction of the venality of the Chicago Democrats; they are so rotten it is a wonder that the roofs are still on the public buildings.

In New York City, the surrealistically inept Mayor Bill de Blasio has squandered almost everything his distinguished predecessors Rudolph Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg accomplished. Eric Garcetti in Los Angeles, Ted Wheeler in Portland, and Jenny Durkan in Seattle are all hopeless and the last two, as well as Chicago’s Lightfoot, effectively have sided with rioters and arsonists against their own police departments.

Parts of Chicago and New York are just 360-degree shooting galleries as the demoralized and defunded police essentially have given up, and murder rates have skyrocketed. The president will have to judge when it is better to exercise his constitutional duty to defend federal government property and ensure the enforcement of the nation’s laws than it is to allow the sanguinary spectacle of the disintegration of municipal government in some of the nations great cities to illuminate the depths of Democratic urban decay and hypocrisy.

The Economy and Unemployment

As the country awaits the president’s timing in these matters, there is no reason to doubt that unemployment will continue to descend quickly.

A huge amount of new demand has been injected into the system by relief measures and people prefer employment to unemployment, a preference further economic assistance measures should encourage.

The Democratic pantomime of posing as the chief enemies of the coronavirus rather than its political beneficiary, and as the authors of emergency job or replacement schemes more remunerative than work itself cannot last much longer.

Biden-Sanders

There is no need until after Labor Day to paint too vividly the implications of the “progressive” unity agreement between presumptive Democratic nominee Biden and Vermont socialist Bernie Sanders. It should be a strong argument in September and October, especially the intended elimination of the oil, gas, and coal industries and their 7 million jobs, the destruction of the southern border wall the president has been building, the reopening of the United States to unlimited illegal entry, the enactment of a substantial part of Senator Elizabeth Warren’s infamous $52 trillion healthcare plan, sharp income tax increases and likely a wealth tax.

Important to note, too, is their intentional strangling of the American ethos of self-advancement through hard work and merit as well as their push for the destruction of independent schools in order to reinforce the monopoly of the strictly Democratic teachers’ unions. The hope of these Democrats is to impose more of the slothful philistinism and the largely anti-American current spirit of American schools and universities. Lazy and unpatriotic Americans tend to look toward Democrats for salvation.

Joe Biden is an implausible candidate; the Democratic Party has disgraced itself by its reliance on pestilence and racist mobs, and its platform consists of exploitation of public COVID-19 hysteria, the creation of lawless urban chaos while blaming it on Trump, a Marxist economic redistribution, and the embrace of unlimited undocumented immigration.

A Democratic Party victory would cripple the free market, strangle the American tradition of earned upward mobility, buy votes with unprecedented cynicism and extravagance, and entrench a regime of socialist wealth redistribution which has never attracted significant public support anywhere in the United States.

Only the dementia of fanatical Trump-haters and the almost airtight political bigotry of the national political media have permitted this levitation to continue as long as it has. It will not make it to Election Day.

How to Prepare for a Communist Coup

Communist Leaders Diagram | Quizlet
Article written by Judith Acosta in "The American Thinker"

Even as I write the title for this article, I wonder: Is that in fact possible? Can we be prepared for a hostile takeover?

The other day I was speaking with a friend about the ongoing insanity in some of our greatest cities: Seattle, Boston, NYC. We bemoaned the reappearance of the “democratic socialist” in the United States. It seemed incomprehensible to us—and horrifying, like a slow-growing metastasis or an insidious dementia.  I wondered how we could prepare ourselves for the eventuality of a horde of lunatics reaching our otherwise peaceful community or worse—occupying the White House.

With years of experience as a doctor of pharmacy in critical incident work, including 9/11, she was the right person to ask. I also knew that her understanding of these things had been shaped by having had a father who risked his life in the Dutch Resistance, survived and escaped three concentration camps, and lived to be liberated from Nazi Europe. He was a complex man with a two-sided nature: aloof and critical but also a hero, having sacrificed a good part of his health and emotional well-being in order to save  Jews and Christians he didn’t even know.

I asked her a simple question: if you had a time machine and wanted to warn your father, or the Jews or Ukrainians in the late '20s and early '30s, what would you tell them?

Her response surprised me: “Keep your eyes open, look for the truth, don’t be afraid to speak up, keep the faith and trust in God.”

While I wholeheartedly agreed with her reliance on the Lord, my heart co-opted my tongue with the words I had expected to hear from her:  “I would tell them to run as fast as they can, now, get out, drop everything and come here, to us.” The image of a hen gathering her chicks with the shadow of a hawk passing overhead came to mind.

And in 1932, that was a blessed and real option. Today, for us, however, there’s no “us” anywhere else. Where would we go? France? The United States, the last great hope of millions upon millions of refugees, is under siege from within. It appears that in this world, as Americans, we really are on our own.

Now what?

Is there more than one way to be prepared? Is there any way to be truly prepared? The following are just some options.

Prepare by Arming Ourselves.

The first piece of legislation enacted after Hitler took power was the confiscation of weaponry in the civilian population.

He was a madman, but he was no fool. He knew that you couldn’t shove a well-armed populace into cattle cars or ghettos.  We know that the next step in Germany was to defund the police. The only weapons then were in the hands of goose-stepping soldiers.

In the Second Amendment of the Constitution our forefathers saw the danger of ever- consolidated power in an oligarchic government and they made the most important provision…resistance.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

This form of preparation is normally best left in the hands of younger people who have access to the wisdom of the experienced. Whether that’s possible given our current demographic status is the subject of another discussion.

Prepare by Building a Cache.

It is a common understanding that Mormons have a year’s supply of foodstuffs and other essentials in the basements of their homes. The toilet paper craze of 2020 has made the wisdom of their ways perfectly clear. Things we took for granted as ubiquitous can disappear overnight.

What to store? Tools, batteries, warm clothes, paper towels, candles, precious metals, freeze-dried foods, medicines, water, water and water. Have a list. Don’t forget a freshly-stocked backpack, cash or some other form of tender.  A subset: keep a percentage of your portfolio liquid and readily available.

Prepare to Take a Stand

At some point you will be called either to stand up for what you  believe and what you know is right or to surrender. To take a stand, you may be required to lay down your life.

The stakes might just get that high. Take stock. Be honest. What do you stand for? What are you willing to die for? To live for? How important is liberty? How important is comfort? Consider an older call to stand in strength:

Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened." 1 Peter 3:13-14

Prepare in the Spirit

This is, in my mind, the most important option. We are still one nation under God, whether or not it “trends.” It entails that we take the time now to cultivate relationships, spend time in prayer, and trust in the right things, which are overwhelmingly not in this world. On the geopolitical map in the natural world, we may be alone, but in truth we are not. We are held together and empowered by the Creator who really does know what He is doing. Even when  we can’t see it…or understand it. And, when (or if) the time comes for us to show what we’re made of, we may be braver and stronger than we can imagine from our more comfy vantage points right now.

My friend’s father is a powerful example, even 70 years later. She shared a story she’d only recently learned from her elderly aunt.

Her father, who was about 18 years old at the time, had hidden the family car in a nearby woods, camouflaged by a thicket. He’d kept  it so he could smuggle Jews out of Germany and into homes with hiding spaces. On one occasion, with lives literally and immediately in the balance, he arrived at the border between Holland and Germany only to be confronted by soldiers who demanded to inspect his papers. He told them in perfect German that the commander himself had given him his orders. The soldier said, “We need to see the orders. We’ll call the commander ourselves.”

Thinking on his adrenalized feet, he said, “You go right ahead. He’s in a foul mood. Better you than me.”

They let him through.

Can you ever be prepared for something like that?

I don’t know.

My husband is sure that washing his car is a ritual that inevitably brings rain. Sometimes I have a similar idea about preparations…if you spend a lot of time preparing and have it all perfectly  organized, nothing will happen.

I sure do hope I'm right about that.

Get Woke, Go Broke. — A&E Edition

A&E Ratings Drop By Half After Caving

to People Who Don’t Watch A&E

Some of the immediate casualties of the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis were television shows that did not portray police officers as serial killers. Even thoroughly woke police dramas like Law and Order: SVU, which basically was a serialization of Lifetime movies, were canceled rather than offend the outrage mob. Among the collateral damage were the long-running reality shows Cops and Live PD. Spoiler Alert for any SVU episode you didn’t watch: the man did it. If the man is a father who takes his kids to church or is a priest or pastor, then he is definitely a pedophile. The gay or lesbian is the hero. Trust me.

While NBC had plenty of politically-correct gender-questioning variable-pronoun dross to drop into the gap left by SVU, A&E network, which aired Live PD, didn’t have that deep of a schedule.
Ratings for A&E Network have plummeted since it canceled the hit police reality show “Live PD” on June 10, a sign of how much the network relies on law-enforcement programming.
Average prime-time viewership for A&E between June 11 and July 19 was 498,000 people, down 49% from the same period last year, according to data from Nielsen. In the key demographics of adults 18-49 and 25-54, the declines are 55% and 53%, respectively.
The show, which follows police on their rounds in multiple cities simultaneously, averaged about 1.9 million viewers for its Friday and Saturday night episodes, repeatedly re-aired on other days. It spawned several successful spinoff shows, also canceled.

The ratings collapse, as one might guess, is not limited to prime time. Logic tells you that if you kiss off half of your audience in prime time that a non-trivial number of those prime time viewers were regular A&E customers. I can tell you from my experience on this site that you do not build readership by trolling, belittling, and insulting your readers.

A&E’s ratings declines go beyond prime time. Total daily average viewership in the weeks since the show was pulled is down 36% from a year earlier, to 319,000 people. In the 18-49 and 25-54 age groups, the declines are even larger: 42% and 46%, respectively.

The irony here is that the people objecting to Live PD would not be its watchers. It would be a Twitter mob ginned up by some AstroTurf group on the left.

Because Disney owns A&E, nothing will happen. Corporate America, particularly in the entertainment business, is one place where lack of vision and gutlessness is always rewarded. So the people who pulled the plug on Live PD and probably made A&E unprofitable in the bargain will undoubtedly be tapped for bigger and better-paying jobs because of their “principles.” Funny how these principles always involve destroying the value of companies and the careers of other people. Disney will probably fill the empty slot with a reality show about a pair of brave transgender child protective service officers rescuing toddlers from the homes of orthodox Christians and taking them to enjoy the blessings of liberty at a drag queen story hour at the local library to overcome the pain of pedophilia being unjustly criminalized. I can even think of the perfect host.

No, Silly Libs, Trump Isn't Hitler. But This Tyrant Just Might Be a Modern Version of the Nazi...

Article by Tyler O'Neil in "PJMedia"

Cultural observers far wiser than I have long noted that the current decade feels like the 1930s. American society is becoming more polarized; nationalism is on the rise; an economic crisis has emerged; wars and rumors of wars loom on the horizon. America — and much of the world — is facing a political crisis best understood in generational terms. The left has pushed this fatuous idea that Donald Trump is the modern reincarnation of Adolf Hitler. This is, quite frankly, absurd. But a real would-be Hitler is actually on the rise, and he is threatening to start another World War.

When considering potential analogues to Adolf Hitler or Benito Mussolini, more than one candidate comes to mind.

Brutal North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un oppresses his own people, pushing a state religion worshiping the Kim family. After a period of dialogue with South Korea, North Korea blew up a joint liaison office last month. Although a nuclear North Korea could cause a serious and calamitous war on the Korean peninsula, North Korea does not have the kind of muscle Adolf Hitler did in 1939.

Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has also led a brutal crackdown on dissent in his own country. In fact, Iran appears to have suppressed information about the coronavirus in order to avoid a low turnout in an election. Satellite images from space showing mass graves appear to have confirmed the opposition’s claims that Tehran has vastly under-reported the death count from the coronavirus pandemic. Yet Iran’s regime appears to be teetering. Internal resentment is high and the opposition has organized an international effort against the regime. The death of Quds Force leader Qasem Soleimani dealt a serious blow to Iran’s ability to exert terrorism in the Middle East.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan appears to be the closest analogue to Benito Mussolini. Mussolini aimed to restore the  mighty Roman Empire, and Erdoğan has declared his desire to reconquer the lands the Ottoman caliphate once ruled. His decision to convert the Hagia Sophia into a mosque may be a symbolic move toward Islamic empire. While Erdoğan has fought a small civil war with Kurdish rebels, it does not seem like he is resurrecting the horrific Armenian Genocide, much less the Holocaust of Adolf Hitler.

The real Hitler analogue

Each of these modern leaders is dangerous and terrifying in his own way, but only one brutal tyrant comes close to Adolf Hitler, and that is the leader of the Chinese Communist Party, Xi Jinping.

When it comes to Hitler comparisons, Xi has it all: territorial ambitions; use of the government to enforce propaganda; attacks on religious freedom; claims of returning to a grand past; and horrifying labor camps for religious and ethnic minorities. Indeed, the Chinese Communist Party also has an outsize impact on the global economy, which probably gives it more influence than Adolf Hitler had.

Heck, there’s even an appeasement movement in the United States,  with the NBA caving to the Communist Party’s whims and silencing Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey’s message in support of the Hong Kong protests.

Let’s lay it out.

While China has aimed at modernization and a more capitalistic economy in recent decades, Xi Jinping has brought communism back with a flourish. In October 2017, Xi gave a terrifying speech calling for “national rejuvenation.” He pushed for a more explicitly communist constitution and advocated a more aggressive socialism. Xi also announced he would rebuild the military, aiming for “combat capability” and declaring, “A military is built to fight.”

Thanks in large part to the heinous one-child policy, China has a surplus of young men and a deficit of young women. This adds to a desire for foreign aggression.

Beijing has indeed been flexing its muscles. China built floating islands in the South China Sea in order to claim naval territory. In May, Xi sent soldiers into disputed lands between China and India,   sparking more than a month of skirmishes in a border war. Late last month, Beijing imposed “direct authoritarian rule” over Hong Kong, arguably violating the treaty by which China gained limited control over Hong Kong from Britain.

Xi’s propaganda suggests he identifies with Mao Zedong, the brutal communist dictator who unleashed the Cultural Revolution. As the coronavirus pandemic has ravaged China’s economy, the Communist Party has forced Christians who receive government benefits to choose between their faith or their government aid. Local officials have even barged into Christians’ houses, taking down crosses and posters of Jesus and replacing them with portraits of Xi and Mao.

As for the coronavirus, the Chinese Communist Party lied to cover it up early on, and waited until after 5 million people had already left Wuhan before locking down the city at the center of the outbreak. The party also reportedly destroyed early samples of the virus and silenced doctors who tried to warn the world about it. A  University of Southampton study found that if the Communist Party had enacted quarantine measures three weeks earlier, the coronavirus spread would have been reduced by 95 percent.

When the World Health Organization (WHO) tweeted that the coronavirus might transmit from person to person, the Chinese government told the WHO to remove that statement, and the WHO complied. China requested personal protective equipment (PPE) from across the world, and received 2.4 billion pieces. Later, when other countries asked China for PPE, China extorted them — only sending valuable medical aid if political leaders agreed to publicly praise Beijing. Chinese companies also sent faulty medical gear to European countries and to the U.S. Meanwhile, the Communist Party also prevented U.S. companies from shipping their own medical gear back home, where it is sorely needed.

The State of Missouri has already filed a lawsuit to hold China accountable, and there is a growing chorus of voices demanding the U.S. sue the Chinese Communist Party in an international court. China has even threatened U.S. senators by name who dared to call  Beijing to account for its malfeasance. Americans want to see China held accountable.

Yet arguably the worst aspect of China’s oppression — and the one that most resembles Hitler — involves its treatment of the Uyghur Muslim minority in Xinjiang. Beijing has allegedly imprisoned 1 million members of Muslim minority groups in what China defends as de-radicalization and retraining centers.

Human rights activists have compared the camps to prisons and worse, claiming that inmates are sentenced there with little due process. The Uyghurs (the largest Muslim minority targeted) and others are compelled to denounce their religion, language, and culture and to pledge allegiance to the Chinese Communist Party and President Xi Jinping. According to an Associated Press investigation, Uyghur women are forced to use birth control or undergo involuntary sterilizations.

It does not appear that these Uyghur camps are death camps exactly like the Holocaust, but they are the closest modern analog to that 20th-century horror.

While Democrats repeatedly defame Trump with ridiculous Hitler comparisons, they should stop their whining and take a long look over the Pacific Ocean. The real would-be Hitler is terrorizing China, muscling his way into India, seizing power in Hong Kong, tearing down Jesus and replacing him with Mao Zedong, running imprisonment camps, and abetting the spread of a global pandemic.

There’s not a lot the left and the right agree on these days, but both sides should be able to recognize the true would-be Hitler in Beijing.

Spending as If There Is No Tomorrow

Article by Cal Thomas in "mrcNewsBusters"

I am not in the habit of quoting leftist Noam Chomsky, but this line seems relevant when one considers our growing national debt: "When you trap people in a system of debt, they can't afford the time to think."

Perhaps now is not the time in the middle of a pandemic, job losses and threats of even higher unemployment, to mention the national debt. Or, perhaps it is.

One of the common characteristics of the fall of past empires and superpowers is massive national debt. Ours is currently at $26.5 trillion and growing by the second. Americans should regularly consult the real-time debt clock and ponder the future. The interest on the debt, which also grows daily, is higher than the nation's gross domestic product for the first time since World War II.

 https://www.usdebtclock.org/

With more borrowed money going out the Treasury Department's door because of the pandemic and Joe Biden promising to spend additional trillions should he become president the debt will become an even greater economic albatross.

One year ago when the debt was "only" $22 trillion, I wrote a column about what the Founders thought of debt. Their words are worth repeating:

Thomas Jefferson said: "We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt." Alexander Hamilton added: "Nothing can more affect national prosperity than a constant and systematic attention to extinguish the present debt and to avoid as much as possibl(e) the incurring of any new debt."

We have this from George Washington, whose statues are being torn down by people who appear to know nothing, or care, about history: "Avoid occasions of expense ... and avoid likewise the accumulation of debt not only by shunning occasions of expense but by vigorous exertions to discharge the debts, not throwing upon posterity the burden which we ourselves ought to bear."

If that's insufficient, consider James Madison: "I go on the principle that a public debt is a public curse, and in a Republican Government a greater curse than any other."

Finally, hear John Adams: "The consequences arising from the continual accumulation of public debts in other countries ought to admonish us to be careful to prevent their growth in our own."

Our modern leaders are not listening.

Citizens Against Government Waste (cagw.org) has just published its annual "Pig Book," about some of the government's wasteful spending and earmarks Republicans promised to eliminate. Earmarks are spending added to bills that have not been authorized, approved by any committee, or voted on by members.

From the booklet's introduction: "A January 2020 Congressional Budget Office report forecast an average annual deficit of $1.3 trillion between fiscal years 2021 and 2030, rising to $1.7 trillion by the end of the decade, adding $12.4 trillion to the national debt and bringing it to $$36.2 trillion. That estimate was made prior to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the subsequent health care crisis and economic shutdown. One estimate suggests that the pandemic will add $8 trillion to CBO's fiscal year 2030 projection, for a total of $44.2 trillion."

The Pig Book documents what it says are slightly fewer earmarks this year but notes the amount of spending on them has increased.

In 2010, then-House Republican Leader John Boehner praised his fellow Republicans for adopting a ban on earmarks in the 112th Congress: "This earmark ban shows the American people we are listening and we are dead serious about ending business as usual in Washington."

If only.

While earmarks are a fraction of government spending, if Congress continues to spend money as if there is no tomorrow, there may not be a tomorrow. America will drown in debt with no one to rescue us from our folly.

Most Disconcerting Thing About Obamagate Is Not One Person Has Been Charged

Federalist co-founder Sean Davis said the “most disconcerting” thing about the Obama administration’s illegal spying and the fabrication of evidence in order to conduct deep-state surveillance on the Trump campaign is that not a single person has been charged now years later.

“Nobody’s been charged,” Davis said on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Thursday. “If they’re not even going to come in and charge people who obviously violated our laws in order to spy on and then overthrow a presidential administration, why on earth would we expect them to go and reform the agency?”

The U.S. intelligence community declassified new documents Thursday offering more proof to pile onto the growing mountain of evidence exposing how corrupted bureaucrats abused their government powers to oust the democratically elected President Donald Trump.

“Thanks to Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, we had declassified some FBI documents about a lot of their shenanigans and antics in 2016, and one thing we learned from the hand of one of the FBI agents involved in the spy campaign against the Trump campaign was that they used a defensive briefing on foreign intelligence threats like Russians trying to interfere in our election,” Davis explained. “They used that briefing, not to tell the Trump administration of the Trump campaign what was happening, they used it instead to spy on the Trump campaign. And the agent they sent in said he was there to actively listen to and look at mannerisms from the people involved in case he needed to use it against them later during their spy campaign.”

The Twitter Mob Wants Mary Hart’s Cutout Removed From Dodger Stadium

Mary Hart, the 1970 Miss South Dakota and former longtime host of “Entertainment Tonight,” is the latest victim of cancel culture after first being attacked for her appearance at Trump’s Mount Rushmore Independence Day Speechand now for her cardboard cut out at Dodger Stadium.

When Hart introduced Gov. Kristi Noem at the July Fourth celebration, she held up two “OK” symbols with her hands referring to the “incredible audience” at the Mount Rushmore event. People accused Hart, a Trump supporter and donor, of holding up a “white power” symbol.

Hart responded to the accusations in disbelief:
“A white supremacist symbol? Are you kidding me? I would never use one and never knew that the ‘okay’ sign was anything but positive. My South Dakota parents instilled in me to respect everyone and that means everyone, no matter their skin color or religion. I was invited to my home state of South Dakota to introduce my friend, Gov. Kristi Noem, which I did. And I was proud to be at our great shrine of democracy, Mt. Rushmore.”

Due to the coronavirus, fans are no longer allowed to watch baseball from the stands this season, so the Dodgers and other teams have been offering fans the ability to buy a life size cardboard cutout of themselves to be placed in the stands to have a “presence” at the games.

As a dedicated Dodgers fan and longtime season ticket holder, Hart bought a cutout of herself in the front row. Hart’s name became a trending topic on social media after Twitter users watching Thursday game began calling for the Dodgers to remove Hart’s cutout.

One angry user wrote, “Why is Mary Hart’s cutout at Dodger Stadium? @Dodgers @LosAngeleno @mlb @LosAngelesToday Just want to remind you she was throwing out the wp hands signs recently. I knw u remember… Here’s a pic to jog yr memory…remove her, please. Her rhetoric has no place in our house.”

Another person said, “Can someone on the @Dodgers go spit on the Mary Hart cutout after her hosting performance at Trump’s Mt. Rushmore MAGA debacle?”

Those defending Hart pointed to the fact that Left-wing darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently used the “OK” sign: “Right?? Enough of these white supremacists and their hateful hand signs!”

Others fired back at the “OK” sign conspiracy, “It’s an “ok” sign. Take your f**king leftist politics out of sports. Some people just want to watch a ballgame without being confronted with whether the pitcher or catcher care about eco-sexual-afrocentric-veganism. IT’S. A. GAME.”
