Obamas Take The Low Road


Obamas try to muscle little company into handing over its trademark to them

The Obamas have always been big on Chicago-style political muscle, and even in the post-presidency, Barack and Michelle have not changed a bit.

Get a load of this outrageous bid to force a little company to give up its trademark — to him.  According to Fox News:
The legal team representing the Obamas filed a petition to cancel the trademark of an e-book publishing company called Higher Ground Enterprises, much to the chagrin of the publishing company.
"This is really deplorable behavior. I hope that the Obamas realize that these actions are not consistent with the values they preach and that they instruct their attorneys to immediately dismiss the petition," attorney Larry Zerner told Fox News in a statement that was first given to The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Obama team wanted to name their Netflix propaganda venture 'Higher Ground Productions' which is kind of a stupid, banal name, but whatevs.  The U.S. trademark office told them "no" because another company, Higher Ground Enterprises, already had the name, and the names were too similar.

But nobody tells the Obamas "no," so: 
On Aug. 20, Barack and Michelle Obama's Higher Ground Productions made a move to save its name. That day, the company went to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and demanded cancellation of someone else's earlier trademark registration for "Higher Ground Enterprises."
Higher Ground Enterprises is run by Hanisya Massey, who, according to her attorney Larry Zerner, is in the business of helping authors publish e-books. Her trademark is in Class 41, which includes entertainment services. Zerner says Massey has been using "Higher Ground" since 2008.
Naturally, as the Obamas came to a lucrative agreement with Netflix for films and television series, Higher Ground Productions came into conflict with Higher Ground Enterprises.
On April 10, a Trademark Examiner refused to register the Obamas' claimed mark with a nod to the one held by Massey.

So instead of respecting the other company's right to exist and coming up with a slightly different name, such as Higher Grounds Productions, or else concentrating their resources on appealing again to the trademark office that the names really are different (they got turned down once on appeal), they're now going for the jugular, seeking to expropriate the little company's name for themselves in court because they are so much more important.

What would their rationale be?  They claim that the trademark was not used at the time of its granting, but that probably was a function of the Obama economy, when little startups couldn't get the capital they needed.  What an irony if true.

The only other thing they can tell the judge is that they're the Obamas, and little people just need to get of the way.

It's not just outrageous in itself; it raises questions about just what the Obamas will do if they get laughed out of court.  Might the Obamas suddenly call up their political muscle in whatever city the little e-book publisher or its operations are located in?  A big fine from some allied bureaucrats would put that company out of its misery pronto, freeing up the name.

The possibilities are endless.  And the horribleness of this muscle act against the little guys, over something they didn't do wrong, is really disgusting.  Shouldn't this be getting more attention?  Socialists, by hook or crook, and even if they no longer have their hands on the levers of power, will stop and nothing to steal every last thing a little guy has got.

Senator Promises to Rebuild Russian Economy, Grow China’s Influence and Support Maduro Regime in Venezuela


Democrat president candidate Elizabeth Warren has made a campaign promise that is quite remarkable:

The consequences of such policy are not esoteric; they are very real and very serious.

Who would immediately benefit from Warren’s policy: Russia, China, Iran and Venezuela.

Who would suffer, Americans.  Here’s how…

Within the first 24 hours of Elizabeth Warren’s presidency she is promising to dramatically raise the price of Oil and Natural Gas.  This will:
  • Immediately hand Vladimir Putin hundreds of billions worth of enhanced Russian energy exports.  A windfall of economic growth that will mean Russian policy expansion globally.
  • Support the regime of Venezuelan dictator Maduro who relies on oil production and pricing to keep his socialist government in place.
  • Expand the influence of China; and increase the value of Beijing’s investments in Russian energy and 49% stake in PDVSA (Venezuela).
  • Immediately help the Iranian economy; enhance the stranglehold of power by the Mullah’s over the Iranian people; help fund terrorist actions globally, and specifically create terrorist attacks in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Libya and Israel.
  • Return U.S. policy and strategy back to a position of dependence on OPEC nations; so we can expect more U.S. military involvement in the middle-east (as above).
  • Destroy growth in American wages , and set up energy policy that will drive further industrial manufacturing out of the U.S. and into Mexico and Asia.
  • Simultaneously drive up the price of electricity in the U.S, further exacerbating the financial costs and losses to the U.S. middle-class.
  • Raise gas prices back to Obama-era rates $5/gal.
  • In turn this will drive up the cost of transported products, and U.S. food prices will jump approximately 20% as massive inflation hits the highly-consumable categorizes first.
  • The collective impact of the four domestic points above will drive down the ability of consumers to spend on other goods.  The U.S. economy is two-thirds dependent on consumer spending…. The collective impact means economic contraction.
Candidate Elizabeth Warren is promising to deliver these results in the first 24 hours of her administration if she was to win the presidency.

Senator Elizabeth Warren has never worked in the private sector; nor has she created anything that is materially not connected to government expansion.  She is proposing policy without any comprehension of downstream impact on a domestic, international, geopolitical or national security basis.

Senator Warren promises these impacts in her first 24 hours in office.

Judge Sullivan Will First Rule on Brady Allegations in Flynn Case


Federal Judge Emmet Sullivan held a sealed ex parte hearing with Michael Flynn’s defense counsel, Sidney Powell, yesterday.  An “ex parte hearing” is a judicial review of an emergency request, in which the other party may or may not be present. [ie. a discussion between Flynn’s counsel and the court. The content was ‘sealed‘.]

As an outcome of today’s discussion, the court (Judge Sullivan) stated he will first reconcile issues surrounding allegations of Brady violations (unethical concealment of evidence favorable to the defendant), before proceeding to issues around the DOJ’s refusal to grant defense counsel with security clearances.

The ex parte hearing was prompted by a filing from Flynn’s attorney Sidney Powell, (reposted below).  From the court’s response today it would appear Judge Sullivan will address the Brady concerns first, during the hearing scheduled for September 10th. 
In the 19-page filing (full pdf below), Ms. Powell walks through the history of the DOJ, FBI and intelligence apparatus weaponization against Mr. Flynn and lays out the background behind everything known to have happened in 2016, 2017 through today.

“The core of the conspiracy theory against Donald Trump has been that Joseph Mifsud had some ties to the Russian government, relaid information to Trump campaign member George Papadopoulos, and that set off this tide of the FBI investigatory trail,” explained in his opening Dan Bongino the host of ‘Hannity’ on Tuesday evening.

Bongino went on to point out that “Special Counsel Robert Mueller in his report said ‘Mifsud had Russian connections’ and that was far different from him being a Russian agent, what are we missing on that'” Bongino asked Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), a House Intelligence Committee ranking member.

“I have no idea whether Mifsud is a Russian asset or a Western intelligent asset, or a double agent…or what?” said Nunes.  “All I know is that after $40 million, we still don’t know anymore than we knew before…and this is supposedly the guy who knew about Hillary Clinton’s emails.”

Around the same time, a London professor named Joseph Mifsud, who has been in hiding since his name surfaced in the news, had already told Papadopoulos that the Russians had thousands of emails from Clinton that could expose her wrongdoing. Mifsud also introduces Papadopoulos to a Russian woman, who Mifsud claims later to be a niece of Putin. But Papadopoulos said he didn’t buy that claim either, saying she was an “obscure young girl…who barely spoke English to all of the sudden writing in fluent English in emails to me.”

Papadopoulos said that he didn’t believe he was speaking to the same woman he met through Mifsud.

“I’ve never met a Russian official in my life,” said Papadopoulos, who added that Mifsud’s claims about Clinton’s emails were interesting, but that rumors had already been in the media for months before.

However, Papadopolous contends that he never followed up on what Mifsud was saying about Clinton and Mifsud’s promises to introduce him to senior Russian officials never came to fruition. In fact, he didn’t trust Mifsud, he said.

AMLO Drops the Hammer on African Migrants in Mexico

While remaining under the threat of punishing U.S. tariffs, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez-Obrador (aka AMLO) is strictly enforcing migrant blockades to stop the unlawful travel of Central American migrants to the U.S. border.
(Via AP) […] Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard said he believes Mexico’s strategy of cracking down on illegal migration with a National Guard deployment, investment in Central America and allowing the U.S. to make more asylum seekers wait in Mexico is enough to avert President Donald Trump’s threat to impose tariffs on all Mexican imports.
Ebrard is scheduled to meet with U.S. officials Tuesday at the White House to review the progress.  
Mexican President Andres Manuel López Obrador, a leftist who took office Dec. 1 promising better treatment of migrants, instead has embraced the fight against migrant smuggling.
In recent weeks, he has seldom mentioned the U.S. pressure and depicts the crackdown on migrants as a struggle to defend Mexican laws. His administration has taken a tough line against hundreds of African migrants waiting in the southern city of Tapachula for transit visas that Mexico no longer hands out.
“We will not budge,” he said after the Africans protested, “because the recent events in Tapachula aim to make Mexico yield and oblige us to give out certificates so migrants can get into the United States. We cannot do that. It isn’t our job.”
He said migrant caravans once tolerated by Mexico were the work of human traffickers, and effectively ended them.
“All of these people who traffic with migrants’ needs for jobs, safety and welfare, they are committing a crime and they will be punished,” López Obrador said last week. “We are already doing this in Mexico, without violating human rights. We are ensuring there isn’t anarchy, disorder.”
Migrant-rights activists say López Obrador is simply dressing up the fact that he yielded to Trump’s pressure tactics.
Mexico has raided freight trains that migrants ride north, and pulled thousands off buses and out of the freight compartments of trucks. The government has warned bus and taxi drivers they could lose their permits if they transport migrants. (read more)

Somebody really should clue the 2020 Democrats in that they are running to be Chief Executive of a Constitutional Republic and not vying to be Dictator of the Soviet Socialist States of America.
I said yesterday that the CNN marathon townhall on the Climate Catastrophe was a monumentally stupid — dare I say catastrophic — move for the Democrats.  All of them let their inner dictator emerge before a live television audience.
Okay, not an especially large television audience to be sure. But video clips of this Campaign Catastrophe are being widely shared on social media.  And none of the Democrats come out looking very good.
Of course, since Leftists always push too hard and too far, these dummies mistook the townhall as a momentum-building mandate to double and triple down on their dictatorial edicts. 
Chief among them (no pun intended) was the shrillest dictator of them all, Elizabeth Warren.


At the CNN townhall, Comrade Warrenakov declared that she would refuse to build any additional nuclear power plants and “phase out” the ones currently in existence.  And in addition to that, she wants to ban fracking – the primary reason the US is now energy independent and one of the world’s number one exporters of energy — while kneecapping offshore drilling and any drilling on “public lands.”
How exactly would the shrillest dictator provide energy to a nation of over three hundred million people?
Who the hell knows?
Sure, Liz emits a hell of a lot of hot air, but not nearly enough to keep the entire country powered.
I hope you aren’t too used to lower energy prices. Because under General Secretary Elizabeth Warrenakov you can kiss them goodbye.
And with skyrocketing fuel costs, expect to pay more at the grocery store … and pretty much everywhere  else for that matter.  
Of course the over ten million people who work in the energy sector aren’t going to have jobs anymore, so that’s going to make the higher food and fuel costs even more crippling.
You states who have boosted your economy through energy can say goodbye to the Tenth Amendment.
Under the shrillest dictator, State’s Rights will be obliterated with the wave of a pen.



Yes, it is national suicide.  
The economic devastation the shrillest dictator hopes to achieve would drag down the entire world’s economy.
And who will take our place? 
Why, the biggest polluter on the planet, China.  That’s who.
A “President” Warren would cripple us, and for what?  


Yeah, I’m guessing those Volvo driving friends won’t be so happy about it once their energy bills skyrocket.  And that doesn’t even take into account all the additional taxes General Secretary Warrenakov plans to impose.
In a way, I’m thrilled that these dictator wannabes are saying the quiet parts out loud.
Americans need to go into 2020 with eyes wide open.  And for once, the Democrats aren’t pretending to give two craps about the American people, our economic prosperity or our energy independence.
Meanwhile, under President Trump… 

You can kiss that kind of economic expansion goodbye if the shrillest dictator sets one jackbooted toe into the Oval Office.
Because it will all go away.  All of it.

Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, says that Congress should discuss Social Security “behind closed doors” to avoid “being scrutinized,” the Los Angeles Times reports.

Democratic operatives recorded Ernst during her appearance at a town hall in her home state last weekend, where she said that Congress needs to talk about Social Security “behind closed doors” because “the minute you say we need to address Social Security, the media is hammering you, the opposing party is hammering you — there goes granny over a cliff.

“But there is a real issue out there, and as long as we are being hammered as members of Congress for even saying we need to do something about it, you’re not going to find people that are willing to step forward and do it.”

She added that privacy is necessary “so we’re not being scrutinized by this group or the other, and just have an open and honest conversation about what are some of the ideas that we have for maintaining Social Security in the future.”

In response to criticism to her comment, a spokeswoman for Ernst said in a statement to The Washington Post: “Just as Senator Ernst predicted, we can’t have honest conversations about solving problems anymore without liberals and their media allies trying to demonize it and create a faux controversy. Senator Ernst has always and will continue to stand up and fight to protect Social Security now and for generations to come.”

This is another one of the rare interviews where an American CEO calls out the specifics of how Wall Street greed created the China problem that pummeled Main Street.

Cambria CEO Marty Davis discusses the root of the trade issues with China and President Trump’s efforts to address the problem.  He accurately calls attention to the origin of the issue; and then brilliantly explains the current consequences of decisions made by an alignment of Wall Street interests and powerful U.S. politicians.

CTH readers will notice a significant amount of similarity in the words and phrases Mr. Davis uses to describe the issues. This guy gets it.

This is well worth nine minutes of your time.  Mr. Davis really gets it, and is not afraid to call the baby ugly. His criticisms are so spot-on accurate they made Maria Bartiromo uncomfortable in broadcast. These things are usually not said.  Must Watch:

The Europeans Keep Rejecting Liberty

  Modern continental Europe keeps trying to solve its political problem — and then to impose its solution on everyone within reach.  Recognizing this historical process can help us understand European anti-Americanism, strongest perhaps in Germany.  America created the Europeans' political predicament, and we keep preventing them from adopting the solutions they come up with.

America created the Europeans' political problem by the magnificent example of the American Revolution and the astonishing, world-changing success of America.  In an interesting version of the story of the emperor's new clothes, rule by hereditary monarchs, hereditary aristocracies, and established churches was suddenly revealed to be absurd and indefensible.

The only problem was that continental Europe was for the most part incapable of self-rule.  The attempts, for example, by Germany, Italy, and France to achieve reasonably stable regimes of rule by their own people would be comical but for the terrible human consequences of their repeated failures.

With the exception of the Netherlands and a few other European countries that, like Britain, have achieved rule by their own people, the modern history of continental Europe is the story of people trying various experiments in an ongoing effort to relieve themselves of the burden of self-rule.

For a while, it seemed certain that fascism was going to be the European solution.  The Germans and the Italians took the lead, but there were at the same time homegrown fascist movements throughout Europe, even in Britain. 

 The French earned from Homer Simpson the sobriquet "cheese-eating surrender monkeys" because of their feeble resistance to the Nazi invaders and their swift adoption of a policy of collaboration with their Nazi rulers.  If it weren't for America's military intervention, the Nazis would likely have defeated Britain, and fascist Europe would have reached from Ireland's western shore to Moscow and beyond.

The crushing military defeat of fascist Germany and fascist Japan took the fascist solution off the table.  What were the Europeans to do?  Next up: communism.

WWII resulted in only the western portion of Europe not being swallowed up by the Soviets.  Once again, as with fascism, there were homegrown communist movements and sympathizers everywhere in Europe outside the Soviet-ruled zone.  Communist Europe would likely have had that same western border in Ireland considered above — except once again for the United States.  America kept a military presence in Europe after the war, preventing the Soviets from snapping up what remained of Europe not already under their control.

The Americans did not simply prevent a Soviet takeover of Europe.  The American example destroyed communism's claim to legitimacy as surely as America's example had destroyed the European monarchs' claim to rule.  The collapse of the Soviet Union robbed the Europeans of a communist future.

The Americans had done it to them again.

What now is next to be tried?  Islam.  Bernard Lewis, the great scholar of Islam and no enemy of Western civilization, predicted an Islamic Europe some time ago, and an Islamic Europe is now coming on much faster than when he made that prediction.  Muhammad is the most common name given to baby boys in cities throughout Europe, even in Britain.

Once again, as in WWI and WWII, the Germans are taking the lead.  Because Germany dominates the European Union, the open border policy imposed on Europe by Angela Merkel is responsible for a massive Muslim invasion of Europe — and this time the invaders don't need to brush past feeble military resistance or even use weapons.  The invaders only need to show up and apply for welfare, leaving them with plenty of free time to plot the takeover of the West.  An earlier generation of the French at least had feebly resisted the Nazi invasion before surrendering.

However, there are developments that raise the possibility that Europeans will yet save themselves by a sensible nationalism.  There is, for example, Brexit, the important precursor to President Trump's election in 2016.  The people of Britain voted to reclaim British national sovereignty and to restore the integrity of Britain's borders.  In addition, there are nationalist stirrings in Germany that may turn out to be part of a broader European rejection of a future under the rule of Islam.

Perhaps the prospect of an Islamic Europe can yet rally Europeans to the defense of Western civilization.  If nations in Europe can muster the spirited belief that their nations are worth defending, they may yet hold off the moral and intellectual corruption of radical Islam.  It is very much the hope of lovers of liberty everywhere that they do so.
